    19:30 Thanks for watching
In this video, we’re going to talk about how to stay calm when you’re stressed and have high cortisol.
Cortisol and adrenaline are the primary stress hormones that your adrenal glands produce.
The adrenal glands have an outside and an inside. The inside part of the adrenals is made up of neurological tissue-this is the part that releases adrenaline. The outside is made up of glandular tissue-this is the part that releases cortisol.
Both of these hormones help adapt your body to stress. The more stress you experience, the more your adrenal glands are activated and release stress hormones.
Your body does not handle prolonged stress well; it’s meant to handle short bursts of stress, not chronic stress.
The sympathetic nervous system is the part of your nervous system that handles your fight-or-flight mode. Your parasympathetic nervous system is the part of your nervous system that handles rest and digest mode.
Stress isn’t always a bad thing-it’s what helps you progress and adapt to life. However, getting stuck in chronic stress can cause many issues throughout the body.
The effects of stress can include:
    • Poor sleep
    • High heart rate
    • High blood pressure
    • Arterial inflammation
    • Cortisol resistance
    • Lowers immune function and inactivates the natural killer T-cells
    • Increased cancer risk
    • Poor memory
    • Brain fog
    • Increased risk of nutrient deficiencies (K+, B1, H+)
    How to stay calm:
    1. Do physical work or exercise
    2. Stay in action
    3. Take vitamin B1, vitamin D, magnesium, and potassium
    4. Get on a Healthy Keto and intermittent fasting plan
    5. Take herbal adaptogens
    6. Do breathing exercises
    7. Try acupressure stress extraction techniques

Believe it or not I cleaned out 3 bedrooms got rid of a bunch of stuff and just finished painting my youngest daughter's room now that she has moved. I'm working on my kitchen and going through the garage. This has helped me so much. The rooms look empty but it has given me a feeling of control. I went through everything being organized has helped me feel better about the things I can't control and let God handle that part. Seeing all the clutter just made things worse.

The first part to de-stressing/removing anxiety is to be kind to yourself. More often than not it’s the pressure we put on ourselves that’s causing the issue. Ask yourself, have you done everything that’s to be reasonably expected, if the answers yes then give yourself a break. Live in the present - be present. Give yourself permission to relax and actively choose the things you focus on, everything else is just noise. Sending good vibes to those that might need it.

Swapped coffee for a variety of teas / water often and cut out adding sugars.
Listen to music less and vary from different genres or music, use audible regularly and radio from time to time.
Being mindful and describing the things I'm doing, how food looks or smells and I prepare or cook.
    Cold shower every so often.
Cutting out carbs seems to have resolved my ibs and acid. I've just discovered the keto diet after getting benefits from low carb so I'm going to give it a go.

I would say that this is ‘indirectly’ related… I am always tweaking the balance of electrolytes and minerals to prevent night cramps, with good success, but recently, I had an issue with bad cramps again. Raises cortisol and puts my body under stress. Cramps so bad that my foot would turn and I couldn’t walk for a few minutes. (I am flat footed, so if I have been on my feet alot during the day, my feet aren’t happy 😆)
A few months ago, I woke up at the start of a bad cramp - normally I would tense up immediately in anticipation of what was coming - fight or flight? God literally spoke to me that night - He said STOP. BREATHE. WAIT. I forced myself to go against what my body was trying to do - tense up, and was just breathing slowly and deeply and praying… within 30 seconds, I literally FELT the muscle relax and release. I have done this every single time since that night, and it works every time.

The #1 stressor in people's lives is their job. And most can't do anything about that. Even if the work environment is friendly, the fact of being tied to a schedule induces a stress response. In order to be truly happy and content, one would need to be financially rich enough to quit their job and be free to do whatever the heart desires every day and go wherever one feels they want to be that day (or month).

Maybe your most important lecture. Very timely for me, and I’m sure thousands of others. Thank you so much for taking time to post. I developed high stress and now autoimmune issues while attempting nursing program. Not a good fit. I have every s/sx you’ve addressed and fear I’ve waited too long to correct the problem, but will follow your advice to try to heal. Much appreciated! Btw, changed course at age 55 and now a PTA, but still just cannot sleep or relax for very long.
