I think part of what it means to pray in the Spirit is to open ourselves up to the Spirit's help as we pray and to pray with an attitude of resting in God.

Prays in the Spirit is to let the Holy Spirit pray. We are to yield to the Holy Spirit and pray according to the God's will. In other words, pray in the Spirit is to pray in tongues for those who speak in tongues with our mind is unfruitful. For those who don't speak in tongue we have to pray what the Holy Spirit asks you to pray.
You CAN pray in tongues and groan vocally all times to God by the help of the Holy Spirit. 1CORINTHIANS 14;1-2. It is our Spiritman that prays. Follow the Word of God as per Apostle Paul if you still believe him.

This is misleading... there is a difference between praying our own words and praying in the Spirit. When I started praying in the Spirit it was an utterance. As the years have gone by it sounds prety much the same. The wonderful thing is I can pray in the Spirit much longer then with my own words.
I agree with John Piper that the references to praying in the Spirit in Eph 6:18 and Jude 1:20 are not specifically about praying in tongues, although prayer in tongues would be a kind of praying in the Spirit.

Praying in the spirit is speaking in "tongues" which is one spiritual language. Speaking in " tongues" occurs as the result of the Holy Spirit baptism which is how the Holy Spirit is recieved.
@@RabbiMurray The speaking in tongues you are refering to is the gift of speaking in tongues that is to be accompanied by a believer with the gift of intetpretation of tongues so that all in a church gathering may be edified. Not all believers have this gift. But unfortunately, many great and renowned Christian Ministers like Dr. John Piper just wouldn't believe/accept this TRUTH. 😩 (probably lacking in faith in "speaking in tongues") Hence, they would interpret, rephrase or even change the original illustrations and meanings of Paul's words, trying to explain away Paul's original preaching on TONGUES...like claiming "speaking of tongues has already ceased etc. 😮
There will be no secret escape. Jesus makes it plain that it will be like the days of Noah. One taken and One left. In Noah's day, the wicked were taken and Noah and his family were left. In another parable Jesus gave the example that the Angles would reap, separating tares from the wheat. Jesus said to the reapers "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them". So the wicked will be dealt with at the 2nd coming FIRST and then the wheat will be put in his barn, which by the way, has many mansions in it:)

This is speaking about when a person is present who naturally speaks the language of his country...a tongue...there should be an interpreter..one who also speaks his native language..to tell what he is saying! This is the same principle set forth at pentecost. All the different people who spoke native languages who were present...' heard the disciples speaking the gospel in their OWN LANGUAGE ! the Greek word for tongues is glossolalia meaning an actual bonified language spoken by an established country ! I came to this truth after many years believing that speaking in tongues was totally different from the truth...thank God ...he brings us into truth if we are desiring it !

Praying in the Holy Spirit simply means using the prayer language that Holy Spirit has given you to pray in unison with God. Anything other than that is unbiblical and, honestly, makes no sense.

Praying in the Spirit is praying as the Bible teaches us to pray. It is to pray God's will for our lives as well as the fruit of the Spirit. It is to pray with right attitude of God's love. Praying in the Spirit is also praying in tongues.
I agree that we don’t have to pray in tongues to pray in the spirit. I believe praying in the spirit is just spirit led prayer. I think as believers when we pray, we assume our prayers are effective just bc we are praying. But sometimes we pray soulish prayers and are not praying accordingly to the will of God. Those prayers are virtually useless. But if we pray led by the Spirit, we are praying accordingly to his will and according to what is needed at that moment, our prayers are therefore heard and answered. Praying in tongues is obviously spirit led prayer but everyone doesn’t pray in tongues and you don’t have to to pray effective prayers. Your prayers just have to be with the Spirits assistance and not in your flesh.

Nothing seems to lead them to repentance because they already feel righteous in their own eyes. How do we, through Christ, save these souls?
We need to show them the 10 commandments (reveal their sin to them) including self righteousness when we say we are good but we are all sinners. There will be no secret escape. Jesus makes it plain that it will be like the days of Noah. One taken and One left. In Noah's day, the wicked were taken and Noah and his family were left. In another parable Jesus gave the example that the Angles would reap, separating tares from the wheat. Jesus said to the reapers "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them". So the wicked will be dealt with at the 2nd coming FIRST and then the wheat will be put in his barn, which by the way, has many mansions in it:)

it seems here that "in the Spirit" in this context refers to tongues ... i wonder if anyone else has a different take on this..

This is speaking about when a person is present who naturally speaks the language of his country...a tongue...there should be an interpreter..one who also speaks his native language..to tell what he is saying! This is the same principle set forth at pentecost. All the different people who spoke native languages who were present...' heard the disciples speaking the gospel in their OWN LANGUAGE ! the Greek word for tongues is glossolalia meaning an actual bonified language spoken by an established country ! I came to this truth after many years believing that speaking in tongues was totally different from the truth...thank God ...he brings us into truth if we are desiring it !

Amazing explaining everything but deflecting the truth that praying in tongues is praying in the Spirit is so foolish. If praying in tongues is pray as the Spirit enables as Paul said “as the Spirit gave them utterance”. Why not point your listeners to seek God to give you the utterance in tongues? I don’t dispute you can pray in the Spirit in known tongue, but HolySpirit’s gift of tongues are so needed in these perilous times because so many believers are just so lost in the woke western world as to how to pray….

Praying in the Holy Spirit simply means using the prayer language that Holy Spirit has given you to pray in unison with God. Anything other than that is unbiblical and, honestly, makes no sense.
Furthermore we must recognise that it is not ‘the Spirit “ but accurately God Holy Spirit. He is God. He is creator. He is All in All God. He is the fullness of God. Jehovah. Almighty God! Spiritual accuracy is warranted in the Body of Christ. 🙏🏾

Notice Eph 6:17-18 "17sword of the spirit the word of God" "18praying always ... in the spirit". I take this to mean take up the word of God in our prayers is praying in the Spirit, or to put it another way, to pray the word of God is praying in the Spirit.

Thanks for this msg . I had been seeking answer bc a few ppl had been recommending To “ pray in the spirit” and i asked how can I if Lord hasn’t loosed my tongues yet? I thought I was raised to pray the Lord’s Prayer when I didn’t know what to pray.

Our prayers are moved and guide by the Holy Spirit.

Praying in the Spirit is praying as the Bible teaches us to pray. It is to pray God's will for our lives as well as the fruit of the Spirit. It is to pray with right attitude of God's love. Praying in the Spirit is also praying in tongues.
I agree that we don’t have to pray in tongues to pray in the spirit. I believe praying in the spirit is just spirit led prayer. I think as believers when we pray, we assume our prayers are effective just bc we are praying. But sometimes we pray soulish prayers and are not praying accordingly to the will of God. Those prayers are virtually useless. But if we pray led by the Spirit, we are praying accordingly to his will and according to what is needed at that moment, our prayers are therefore heard and answered. Praying in tongues is obviously spirit led prayer but everyone doesn’t pray in tongues and you don’t have to to pray effective prayers. Your prayers just have to be with the Spirits assistance and not in your flesh.

Not all who speak in error are false teachers. Many have misunderstood and that's why he went in detail. In fact, the person who asked seemed to have a great deal of misunderstanding by even saying "praying OUT the spirit".

When are we walking in darkness? When we are sinning or we have unconfessed sin.
What happens when we confess our sins to the Father. He cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
When God cleanses us from all unrighteousness, are we able to walk in the light?Yes we are then walking in the light, filled with the Holy Spirit and able to pray in the Spirit
The christian life is to be lived in the Spirit but we lose the filling of the Spirit when we sin

I wish I could leave it at that, but what do we do in regard to our own evangelism with the countless others who proclaim or are convinced to be of the spirit but their works prove otherwise? Nothing seems to lead them to repentance because they already feel righteous in their own eyes. How do we, through Christ, save these souls?
We need to show them the 10 commandments (reveal their sin to them) including self righteousness when we say we are good but we are all sinners. So when their sin is revealed thats when they will take the cure, their saviour. I recommend watching Ray comfort evangelism videos on the youtube living waters channel. Bless!
