Pastor John preached this way before I was born and yet here I am applying it to my life. This sermon is exactly what I need to hear this morning. We can find the answers to our questions just in this short sermon. Thank you for posting, God bless you!
WOW, i so needed this😭😭i suppose God finally answered my prayer on this perplexing topic; ive been confused how to draw the line between waiting and doing. THANK YOU JOHN PIPER😭
God's love for his creation is everlasting; his plans for the life of the believer is far superior than their own. May the Lord bless me with the gift of wisdom, understanding & self control.😀
I have one blind eye and one eye that's not doing well at all. Since I was born my family and I have been praying for healing, and around 2020 things picked up a little bit. I started hearing from God, I started praying harder and it became less and less unbelievable for it to happen. In church one day, I was going hard. I prayed almost aloud in the corner of the church for God to finally give me a healing, but when the pastor came on stage, he started preaching about waiting. He said that he didn't preach this message in the first sermon that day, he felt like God was saying for us to keep waiting, and to be quiet.
Hebrews 6 16 People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. 17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.
I heard saying somebody recently, that marriage is not good, if you are going in it and are not happy for yourself. We shouldn't lean on others to make them happy and to las a burden to them to make you feel loved. Jesus loves you! Even in a relationship! And I am now 18 years happily married. But don't get me wrong, a partner is wonderful and important! So I wish you the best. David
@@asmrfoodmarocco6222 yes you are very true! So we have only two laws: Love your God with all your (heart, mind and soul) and love your neighbor as yourself. So love is the greatest and that is important! So I wish you the best!
I pray you find someone. Being alone is awful :( I’m happy you are christian ❤️. My husband was moroccan and he left me because he didnt want to be with a christian. I always hope he’ll change his mind and come back.
I feel you. I've had experience for example (long story short) where God told me to go to hospital. Thankful I did because I was having a heart attack. BUT when it comes to daily life I rarely get straight forward or clear answers. I feel like I'm left to make dumb decisions even if they are not sinful ones.
I've spent years thinking about this very question. And I love John Piper of course and I agree, but I don't think wait always means being still I believe it simply means serving the Lord, you know like a waiter will serve you at a restaurant, they watch you and wait for you to need them.

I have prayed over this resident before, during, AND at home to no avail. I pray, but need to get my job done to prepare him for the day and am not receiving any answers to help him to stop this behavior, and must continue to try and help him, sometimes you can not wait for God’s answers or he will injure himself. Try my best but do not feel like I am not handling him correctly, definitely cannot feel the Holy Spirit helping me or him, feel really struck because there is no answer from the Lord, Help!
I'm confused about what He says. How do you know your player's reply if you dont hear an audible voice? Or any other obvious result? I feel like after I pray, stare into space waiting for something to happen. Then I feel like all there is to do is my own conclusion. How do you know the reply?
This is a struggle for many of us Christians bc most of us don’t hear God’s audible voice like many of the people of the Old Testament. That being said ,Jesus promised us that the Holy Spirit will be with us. He prompts us and speaks to our minds, hearts, and souls to give us direction and do the will of God. When you pray, ask The Holy Spirit to help you to be quiet before Him and to help you to hear and see what He needs you to hear and see in the situation that you are in. Repent over any unconfessed sin also, as often times unconfessed sin in your heart can be a real barrier to hearing God. Also search the Scriptures. God always answers us when we are patient and seek His face. He will answer you and give you the direction you need. Blessings to you friend. Don’t give up on God. He longs to have an intimate relationship with you. Prayer is part of the key to that wonderful intimacy.
He answers in many ways, you dont need His audible voice. Maybe ypu dont notice it sometimes. I recommend reading the Bible because He answers you through that too. I also experienced after praying, my prayer was answered when a video on youtube was related to what I asked God to help me with. Sometimes, He talks to you in dreams. God bless you. John Thompson hope this helps you. What he means is that God will not speak to you or give u and instruction that contradicts his word which is the bible. God has principles. Sure it doesn't say in the bible go to New York tomorrow for example. What he means by that is u don't hastily make those decisions but stay in prayer with an open heart waiting for the Father's direction. In that the Holy Spirit will urge you in the right direction. @@azbugman1 I believe God can speak to u and to me. It could be through giving you wisdom or like Isaiah 30 says a still small voice. Or dropping a thought. It says in John 14 and 16 that the Holy Spirit will speak to us. It doesn't say through thoughts because I believe God speaks to us differently. He says I speak through dreams and visions and if u look at the prophets all of them had different experiences. With Moses it was directly face to face the others had visions and dreams. So I won't put a tight lock to say through my thoughts. This is how I see it. Cus I for one never make a decision before really praying a lot seeking God's heart and asking him to share his heart with me regarding the situation. Many a times I get wisdom for the situation something I never thought of. James 1:5 says he gives wisdom when we ask. So yes to answer directly he can speak to you directly. Just get closer and closer with a willing heart to obey his direction. Like I said earlier it will never contradicts his word. I also believe that's why he gave us his word so u can discern if it is God or not. Cus his principles won't change. I respect the men u mention. I listen to them a lot. I strongly hold the view God speaks to me through his word first and also through his Holy Spirit for specific directions like for example go to New York lol. I hope this helps. Thanks for being so polite. I really appreciate it.
Hope this will help. God spoke specifically through the testimony of the law, the prophets, and in these latter days, through His Son Jesus, as testified by his Apostles. This is the canon of Holy Scripture, that is, as you referred to, special revelation. But the Bible speaks of various ways outside of the Bible God “speaks.” Consider Romans 1:19-20/Psalm 19:1. Creation itself expresses the character of God. God also speaks to us through our conscience (Romans 2:15). We refer to this as general revelation. Though it is effectively God speaking because it is the testifying and witnessing of his truth, it’s not “special revelation” in that it is authoritatively bearing and binding on all people and at all times. Moving further, Jesus in the NT refers to the Holy Spirit teaching us all we need to know, guiding us “into all truth” (John 16:13). Other examples of this could be cited as well. This still would fall under the category of general, not special. The idea that if the Holy Spirit speaks at all, that it is special revelation, adding to Scripture, no matter what, flies in the face even of the cessationist view of the NT. Because even they acknowledge that there were, for a time, prophets who spoke for God during the apostolic period, whose words are not recorded in Scripture. They did speak for God, but it was general revelation to a limited audience, whereas special is to all mankind. In short, God does speak to you. And it’s not spooky or a challenge to the Bible. It’s the Spirit’s fruitful and caring extension of grace to you, aiding you to understand, interpret, and apply His Word rightly. Remember that we worship in “Spirit and Truth” (John 4:23-24). The two are intimately wrapped up together, and find their apogee in a life of sacrifice and worship, devoted to the Truth of Scripture, dependent on the grace of the Holy Spirit. Hope this brings some clarity from a cautious continuationist perspective who holds to a very a strict closed-canon position.
Jon Acker Thank you Jon, that was well said, and I believe I understood it. I’ll now Re read it, and chew on it a few days as I put it to the test as best as I’m able with prayer, some commentaries and other study tools. I really appreciate the effort to help me, as well as the clarity of your position. So far my initial reaction is... hmmm? Sounds plausible, sniff, sniff... doesn’t smell heretical (lol) I’m open to learning more about how the Holy Spirit actually transforms our minds through Gods Word, and how that practically manifests itself in our minds as our conscience (the definition of Con-Science = With Knowledge=Gods Word) how this manifests itself with self talk and heard/ felt/or imagined responses we believe to be from God. I’ve got some work ahead of me. Thank you sincerely for pointing me in a direction where I might dig for Gold, and actually find it 😁
Im confused about how we sense God telling us to stay home or go argue. I just think my feelings will make me think God was trying to get me to go argue when I should’ve stayed or vice versa.

The LORD is a God of Justice. All who call upon the new name will be saved. When God is with, what happens? We become Just. Just us. Justus - the new name. How smooth is he? What are all of the protesters and rioters already calling upon? No what, no peace? Only one man knows the new name. If you don't know it, you might want to listen close before you speak. It appears we await a lioness and a lion, according to what I see to the text. An oracle on the beasts of the Negeb. Through a land of trouble and anguish, from where come the lioness and the lion, the adder and the flying fiery serpent, they carry their riches on the backs of donkeys, and their treasures on the humps of camels, to a people that cannot profit them. - Isaiah 30:6 For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength." - Isaiah 30:15 Isaiah 30 18 Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. 19 For a people shall dwell in Zion, in Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. As soon as he hears it, he answers you. 20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. 21 And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
The sin-sacrifice-resurrection story implies a superstitious God who values blood sacrifice. Are you unable to realize how the superstitious early folks who valued blood sacrifice created the God of The Bible in their own image?
This sounds good but the reality is far removed from everyday life. Salvation and creation makes complete sense but as for the rest of Christianity, well that makes no sense whats so ever and its taken me 35 years to realise and admit this to myself. The Christians walk of constant trials and testing does nothing more than grind people down.. is this really what God wants for his people? If he does then what does that say about Him. Jesus said if earthly fathers being evil know how to give good gifts to their children then how much more your heavenly father.. well I can day my earthly father gave me good gifts regularly and if I called him for help he didn't make me wait for years for the help to arrive. I also didn't have to ask him ever 5 minutes.
Yeah man I can relate to this way of thinking. The grinding down part. I know that God is good though. When did you become born again? And how are you doing now?
Wait.... has actually been translated wrongly. It reads "intertwine"! Those that intertwine/commune/change by Holy Spirit shall renew their strength. Even better: Col 2:9-10. The fullness of deity dwells in Jesus bodily and YOU HAVE BEEN MADE COMPLETE IN HIM (the last Adam!) who is the head of all principality and power. Because of what God did in Christ you automatically became what you are already. A new creation in Christ. A partaker of the divine nature for free. 2 Pet 1:3-4. We awake by the Spirit to that fact and grow in to Him, the normal divine nature, for free. Because of His great love for us, His creation. 2 Cor 3:18. Out of His fullness we have received. Good news, joy unspeakable. God came, took us in and restored us back to original created value to walk as Jesus. As He is.... so are we. All that is His is ours. The Father in Christ and Christ in us. Seamless oneness. For free. Yay! Thank you Jesus for opening our eyes to the inexpressible riches, the normal divine nature, we have received in You. Women too. Preach it, teach it, live it! You are so equally in!!! Let's share the good news.
Pray while you wait. Even when you have no words. Pray, pray and pray some more. Praying can be hard sometimes, especially when you feel defeated, discouraged and overwhelmed. Keep praying.
12:19 - "The final issue is in the hands of the Lord, and He loves to work for those who wait for Him."

@Desiring God
Question: Who is this "Pastor John"?
Question: Why did you "hide" his identity?
Yes, I am sincere and look forward to answers to both questions.
Thank you in advance.
I think its Pastor John Piper...i heard the announcer mention at the end that this message was taken from one of pastor pipers sermons.

Thank you, Andy.
I still wonder why it was such a "secret"!?!?!
@@Locomedic1
It's "me" again, Andy!
You may appreciate the 50 min video I just watched ~ 2020 Rapture: Feast of Trumpets - Final Call

@@annieb7919 There's nothing secret about it, the presenter just assumes we all know it's John Piper. Piper founded the Desiring God ministries (named after one of his books) and he is world famous for his preaching and association with Desiring God. The two go hand in hand. Not a secret :)
That Piper sounds like level 80 Piper. Now he is level 100 Piper
Alright
What happens when you ask over and over for months and all you hear is………………
Question!! Are we trichotomy or dichotomy? A lot of false teachers use trichotomy so is it true? Seems confusing.
lurkabout thank you so much!!
As for me, I know I'm a dichotomy. Always felt that way. I know that there is good in me, but also terrible evil.
- Isaiah 30:6
For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength." - Isaiah 30:15
Isaiah 30
18 Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.
Are you unable to realize how the superstitious early folks who valued blood sacrifice created the God of The Bible in their own image?
king James bible *-*
Feel you
Yeah man I can relate to this way of thinking. The grinding down part. I know that God is good though. When did you become born again? And how are you doing now?
@@Xplosion919 better than ever but the point mentioned above still exist
Wait.... has actually been translated wrongly. It reads "intertwine"!
Those that intertwine/commune/change by Holy Spirit shall renew their strength.
Even better:
Col 2:9-10.
Translation: God isn't going to do jack for you, but he really wants you to shut up about it.
