  • Ten year Carnivore, Kelly Hogan, talks with long-time friend and fellow Facebook moderator, Charles Washington. Charles has been a complete Zero Carb Carnivore for twelve years and began the ZC Carnivore group "Zeroing In On Health" back in 2008. He has helped many thousands of people over the past twelve years as they have started a carnivore diet. In this episode, we mostly talk about people who gain weight at the beginning of a Carnivore Diet. We discuss why this happens and what to do about it.

I was at my goal weight when I started carnivore. I got there by extended fasting, I was flabby, having hormonal issues and lost a massive amount of hair. I gained and gained and gained for 8 months when I started carnivore. I felt great and didn’t give up because of your advice. Finally started losing. I look healthy, I’m putting on muscle and my hair is all growing back in. Thank you Charles & Kelly for all you do ❤️

So far my husband and I gained weight the first few weeks then all of a sudden we started to lose weight. Were only a month in, but the weight gain has turned to weight loss. We are still eating as much as we want to really nourish our bodies. We arent fasting or dieting at all.

Ok! So 3.5 years on Carnivore and finally my husband and I figured out our protein to fat ratio. My body at 46 years old had a 36” waistline and a year later at 47 years old I’m at a 29.5” waistline. We started eating 80% of our calories coming from fat and about a pound of meat per day for me and my husband eats more meat though! That formula has worked beautifully for my husband and my body composition. It goes to show that every person is different! We stay satiated and no more cravings and drinking beef bone broth every day now, sleep is amazing, muscles looking great with no extreme exercise only walking for 30 minutes a day or longer! I’ve lost my belly fat and feel incredible! I have no clue how much I weigh I only care how I feel and sleep😇 Thank you both for sharing and for inspiring this WOE lifestyle for both my husband and I😎I feel more amazing at 47 then I did at 27 or 37 with a lot of autoimmune diseases but all are gone!!!

Daniela Saffian this is all great news and congratulations to you and you husband. I'm on day 7 of carnivore eating about 80% fat and 20% protein myself. I find that I drink a lot of bone broth throughout the day to help get my fat in and sometimes stave off hunger (which is not that significant, not much cravings at all). Is that how you used the bone broth? for added fat? or what? I'm asking because i'm concerned about drinking bone broth everyday. And would like to eventually cut back.

    • @danielasaffian7340
      @danielasaffian7340 4 роки тому +5

@@adrienneb1132 It took me about 3 years to get to the 80% fat and 20% protein ratio. When I first started I just ate meat and drank water....then I slowly started to add fat because the adaptation period took me and my husband a while to get used to eating fat! I have bone broth for nourishment, sometimes hunger and I enjoy the collagen and glycine it provides for my skin and healing my insides. I hope that helps!

@@adrienneb1132 u can drink broth daily!
I make meat broth so it’s tastier
I love 12oz broth, 3yolks, 2T butter or schmaltz (I never skim the fat from broth!) 1/4t salt @ some pepper & vinegar. Blitz it all 20seconds n enjoy
I like it better than when I use coffee. I’m doing 3 whole eggs now as I have a freezer full of whites & no time to make eggwhite wraps 😞 as I work 3 jobs & am a single mom of teens. I pay too much for my eggs to toss the whites. So I’m having more than fat in morning (I would prefer to IF till 2 or 3 when I actually get hungry after my fatty broth). If u just do 2 yolks it’s about 5g protein which should still allow for autophagy as fat doesn’t seem to stop it & 6g is limit for protein too.
How have u been doing? Still carni?

@YeshuaKingMessiah no ma'am! I am no longer doing a carnivore! I think it is a great intervention, but no for long term. I am 51 years old and for a while, I have struggled with weight until now bc I am learning that it is not just food, it is also learning about my nervous system. I would check out and listen to Irene Lyon, Dr. Paul Saladino and Sarah Kleiner all have helped me tremendously. The new guy I am learning from that had similar issues is Georgi Pinkov. I still eat meat, but I think Carnivore may have done more damage than good in the long run. Instead of staying on it for 5 plus years, I should have done it for a shorter period, in my opinion. I think it is a great intervention for healing gut issues. I eat all types of foods that are animal-based, clean foods that do not have the following: preservative free, seed/vegetable oils free, and only fruits that are in the season of the country I am in. I hope that helps and best of luck in healing!

Hi, kelly! I was just in your gust speaker meeting with Bella. I'm so happy I didn't miss it, because something you said really helped me. I ended up in Bella's group because I gave up nicotine in August. Since then, I have gained 30lbs. I've been devastated about it. I've been carnivore for a year and a half already, and my diet had not changed, so I was very confused. But hearing about your diet coke story, and how you gained, healed and then lost... that really boosted my spirits. I've been feeling quit helpless for the last 6 months, trying everything to lose weight. Now I'm kind of worried I've only stalled the healing process and it will take even longer for me to heal and lose this weight. Anyway, thanks for being a guest speaker. I love your personality. You are a wonderful human. And happy birthday!

Fantastic duo, right here, folks! If there's anything I've learned the past two years after taking control of my health, it's that you have to trust the process. I believe social media makes this concept more difficult than it needs to be. Comparing yourself to others can make you lose confidence, and that's dangerous. I read “the bear’ story today after watching Kelly’s video with carnivore Yogi. I learned so much.
The most important was what happens to your colon from roughage. I’m 72 and have been Keto,
/ carnivore for approx 8 months and my digestive system is now normal after years of having a non functioning bowel. Thanks for all your information

This is the best video ever . I’ve been pretty stable the first few weeks and now dropping a little . Always afraid to post in the FB group because people will yell at you and say “this is not a weight loss diet”. I get that but if you are overweight already .

At 12:00, talking about when the weight isn’t coming off.
Lack of sleep and life stress can affect your blood sugars and weight. Cortisol is released under stress (it prepares your body for fleeing or fighting), but that dumps sugar into the bloodstream. Not a bad thing when the lion is charging, but it really messes up your blood vessels and organs when it’s chronic. One of Dr. Malcolm Kendrick’s 65+ Causes of Heart Disease.

I appreciate this conversation! I was harassed in Charles's ZIOH FB group for suggesting someone add a little salt to their meat to balance electrolytes - and left the group thinking they'd all lost their minds. I'm comforted by this logic, thoughtful convo and kindness.

Hooray! Type 2 diabetic and my sugar levels have almost normalized after 2 weeks. I was high carb low fat vegan, and lost a lot of weight... But now a little weight gain. I am not worried because of other positive effects like normal painless period, finally! Energy! And calmness!

My sugar is always around 100-107. Always. Fasting glucose and after a meal. (Type 2 diabetic from 2011 to 2019.) I also had a complete hysterectomy 2 years ago this month. After 8.5 months Zero Carb, the scale is finally moving. It’s barely moving, but it’s moving. I am off around 8 prescription meds plus a dozen or more supplements. That’s what has kept me going all these months! (And the smart phone comment cracked me up!🤣🤣🤣) Love you guys! Keep preaching ZC. I’ve now joined “the ministry”!

Oh my gosh, Kelly....this was FANTASTIC! TY for having Charles on board here. -The way he puts things is just golden, as is your very own down to earth approach to living this lifestyle! I’ve watched you two when your story first came out & posted on your blog many years ago and so I KNOW your success was long before smartphones. Haha! I’m 52 female and hormones are now playing a role in my daily life after raising my four precious kids. -I eat a carnivore-keto type of approach, but strongly considering going all meat for this reason...with HWC and cheese added ‘later’. As Amber Wilcox O’Hearn says, “Try it for 30 days” (she’s from my home province of Nova Scotia!) and seriously, I did many years ago and loved it and now with the hormonal stuff at this stage in my life, my intuition is telling me to do this again...but not just for 30 days, but for a way of life! God Bless the work you do...Ps...if I do this, I know to go all in and join zeroing in on health for the support! God Bless!

Loved the interview with Charles! Hes very warm! I had no idea you really looked that sickly when you had initially lost the weight, its amazing how much more vibrant your face is now, beautiful! Again thank you for the encouragement i havent started at a small weight (173) and 5 months later with a 3 lb weight gain to just maintaining but i did just cut my daily 1 diet coke two weeks ago😬 hoping that was a huge help to starting to lose (im 5’5 and athletic build so i dont think id want under 145) but hoping to get to a healthy weight soon, loving my meat!

Loved it, yes, get Charles on here a lot. You both are great. Day 20, I don't feel like I'm gaining but I don't really feel like I'm losing. I'm still really feeling like I'm in the adaptation phase which seems to take longer than adapting from the SAD to Keto, I figured it'd be easy peasy going from Keto to Carnivore.

great video discussion and Charles does know the truth. I have gone on this Carnivore diet in the last 4 months because I presented with Arthritis in late 2018, couldn't move my fingers and knees hurt and barely could walk. Now most of my shoulder RA is not causing pain in my arms and fingers and down to only pain and stiffness in the right knee but very low pain level and I go to the store and walk anywhere. So like Charles says, even though I can stand to lose some pounds, it is about reversing my "leaky gut" inflammation causing autoimmune responses. slowly getting better, thanks Kelly
