    Short recipe for Protein-Sparing Modified Fast Bread:
    Mix 1 cup of liquid egg whites for several minutes until stiff enough to turn the bowl upside down (about 7 minutes with an electric hand mixer on high)
    Stir in 1/2 cup of powdered egg whites (One brand is here: www.amazon.com/Its-Just-Protei... ) I put my mixer on low and just mixed it for about another minute.
    Pour the mixture into a greased pan
    Bake on 375 degrees for 15 minutes
    Let cool for 15 minutes before slicing
    Store in the fridge
    --------------------------------------------------
    Description of "Lean-Lean-Fat" Protocol:
    On Day 1- I eat only lean meats that have twice as much protein grams as fat grams. I mostly eat: Lean ground beef, lean chicken/turkey, egg whites, protein-sparing bread (recipe above), fish/shrimp, and lean steaks on "Lean Days".
    On Day 2, I do the same thing. Lean meats again.
    On Day 3, I eat only high-fat foods. Those are foods that have MORE fat grams than protein grams. It doesn't have to be TWICE as many. Just more fat than protein. That's foods like a fatty steak, ribs, pork belly, fatty bacon, egg yolks, and 70/30 ground beef (with the fat drippings).
    Then repeat back to day 1. LEAN-LEAN-FAT. REPEAT. :)
    Add more high-fat days if you feel bad. Add more lean days if you feel fine while eating lean and crave leaner meats. If your energy drops, sleep suffers, period is off, or you have any issues at all, add whatever amount of fat makes you feel best. I would avoid dairy completely if it causes weight-gain or any other issues.

    I was also influenced by influencers and started adding butter to my coffee, to my meals, even snacking. No no no. I wasn’t able to lose weight that way. Now I just eat the fat that comes on whichever meat I’m eating and that’s it. No additional fat for me and it’s working!

Like you - when I saw protein sparing dialogue I thought it meant reduce protein which seemed counter-intuitive so I dismissed any talk of it until I watched this video & understood what it meant. This is very poorly labelled & I wonder how many others like me are missing this vital step in their weight loss journey. It really does need to be renamed. It may well be my missing link to success. My immediate good results include: pain is gone, energy is up, inches are decreasing, my husband, chiropractor, friends say I look great, I helped mow the lawn yesterday and dug up some weeds without soreness afterward, mental clarity is up, etc. However the scale doesn’t budge much. Only 8# since February. And I know, I know, it’s not supposed to matter, but… come on now. 😃 So the Emmerich’s fascinate me. We shall see. 😊

    I did this naturally. I’ve been carnivore 18 months and still have 50 pounds or more id like to lose. After developing a big taste for chicken, I prefer chicken tenders fried in the bacon fat that my family makes.
    Weight loss started up again rapidly. My hair started growing in thicker and my nails are even tougher. My mental health has improved.
    I’m diagnosed PTSD and ive found that overeating is one of my triggers, so feeling more full on high protein has helped a lot with that.

      @dixonhouse 2 роки тому +7

      That is so interesting that overeating is one of your triggers! I've often wondered if overeating affects my mental stability, even if i've overeaten from the animal kingdom it seems to hit me in a negative way

      @kassandraclinch3688 2 роки тому +12

      @@dixonhouse after figuring out a whole chicken fries up lovely in my big pot of bacon grease, I started just eating a whole chicken every day. I feel full and weight loss has started again rapidly. 20 pounds in three months (I only weigh at the doctor - scales aren’t my friend) and then five more in two weeks after an injury left me on my couch like a potato.
      Still losing weight!
      Only 25 lbs left to get to my original goal and have considered adding another 25 to get down to the low point of healthy weight range for my height.
      I’ve been obese since I was 5.
      Looking up the calories on a whole chicken (I know we are against calories but….) it has 1,300 calories in total. Often I struggle to get through the whole bird by the end of the day. I’m full all day and calorie restricting without having to try and that is why carnivore has helped change my life.
      Beef is great and it used to be my favorite but lately I think it tastes too strong….
      I hope more people learn to actually follow their gut with this approach. That was only ever a phrase to me before and now I get it.

    Hi Kelly! I always love your videos, you have the best personality for this. I just wanted to share my experiences with PSMF. When I personally do this I start getting cravings for naughty things and my brain doesn't function well, and a few other bodily issues I am not sure I can blame this on. History on me: High carb extremely low fat vegan diet... Which caused serious hormone problems, increase of blood sugar, and deep depression and anger problems (yes, all food related) I lost alot of weight... But one day, I just felt like I needed some meat! After eating meat, I never went back. Fat is important for people with metabolic syndrome, leaky gut, and any disorders such as depression, etc. Fat helps us heal hormonally. Is that a word? Ok, so also, I feel like even 1 day of lean meats and I suffer psychologically, thinking I am on a starvation diet. I don't think I need extra fat, just whatever is hanging on the meat 🥩. I hope this all makes sense! I finally got some butter today and I think my brain is working again 😇

    I had been doing 'high fat-moderate protein carnivore' for 21 months, restricting my protein to 100g (=500g of meat) and adding 120g of butter, when I crashed. Turns out I had gotten severely deficient in potassium.
    Although I did lose 5 clothing sizes, eating that little protein proved to be unsustainable for my health. (Funny detail: I lost 5 clothing sizes, but still weighed the same!)
    I'm currently 27 months in and have changed things up to 'high protein-low/no added fat carnivore', eating at least 160g of protein (= 800g of meat). I feel so much better now and my potassium levels are slowly going up again.

    Thank you. This is what I needed to hear. I've been clean keto for 3 years but as a T2d, my metabolism still has healing to do. Much as I want to be "done", settled into a good weight, enjoying my WOE (which I do), I've regained 20 of the 65 pounds I lost and need to relearn my intuitive eating. The past year has been a series of "trial runs"... adding more fiber, adding more fat, adding more meat, adding more salad (!)...on and on. But, looking back, the only time the weight started creeping back down was during the "more meat" phase. I don't, as a general rule, love meat. I've always loved all the STUFF surrounding the platter of meat on the big family dinner table.
    So, I will keep working on LOVING THE MEAT with nothing added.
    Maybe if I tell myself that it's temporary (until hopefully it is permanent), I can fool myself into doing this!!

    SO happy to see this video pop up!!! I am a carnivore doing PSMF, because I want to lose weight while retaining the incredible benefits of carnivore. What happens is I end up feeling like a misfit wherever I turn. (So I started my own fb group for Carnivore PSMF)
    Kelly, I sort of called you out in a carnivore group about how you lost your weight, because eating all the meat I wanted definitely wasn't working for me and I knew you had lost most of your weight before becoming carnivore. Thanks again for your patience and for hearing those of us who need extra help and trying to find answers for us. ❤
    Love this video and sharing it where I can. Many thanks as well to the Emmerichs, who I've also followed for many years and always rated their keto recipes as the very best. Can't wait to try this "bread!"

    Im a trainer here in nyc and fitness people ,bodybuilders have been doing this for decades. it does work. Every time too much fat is consumed fat loss stalls because body is burning the fat you are eating. But on higher protein days your own bodyfat is used much more easily. Also your overall calories have to be kept in check!! takes a bit to figure your own body out

    • @KenWang2
      @KenWang2 3 роки тому +3

      @@KenWang2 of course...also Builders consume carbs to fill the muscle with glycogen...it prevents that flat look...so just before a show for example bodybuilders consume a ton of carbs to achieve the perfect stage look!

    I have experienced plenty of weight loss eating zero carb (~35 lbs over 1.5 years) and enjoy the literally-miraculous health benefits* including weight management, but I do see this body holding on to what must be dozens of, hm, /optional/ pounds.

    My weight came to a stall I was eating spot on and weight just stopped after the first 20lbs. I listened to myself and noticed I was getting sick daily on carnivore something had to be off. I got a allergy test finally and found out I'm allergic to eggs, poultry, cow's milk and a ton of other things. Which honestly it was already in the back of my head for a while because of the severe reaction after eating. I'm not allergic to beef, lamb, pork ect... So now restarting my diet armed with all my new knowledge of myself. I can see why dairy, eggs and poultry on carnivore wasn't working, my doctor said if weight stalls it's usually a sign of allergies to food! So 🙏🏼 as I restart and see if things change.

    I was on Keto for four years, lost 80 pounds and then it stopped I had another 60 pounds to lose, but nothing for two years. Then the lockdown, I gave up and I gained back 30 pounds. I felt terrible, I had terrible health. Skin tags, warts, horrible skin issues, horrendous acid reflux, etc. I began Ketovore on January 12, then I started 100% Carnivore on January 26. I have healed so much and I am seeing that healing happening. I am in ketosis, eat two meals a day and satiated. I gave up all dairy, except butter, but made the mistake of adding that butter to everything. Too much butter and no weight loss except initial water weight loss, I want to get my weight down to at least 135. I am 5'4" tall and 70 years old. This video is a Godsend!! The rest of this month, I will be doing 2 lean to 1fat day. Today is a Fat Day! I think I have more than enough fat to live on for months-but I want to get my body back to it's best and that was when I was 30 years old. I wish I had known this in my younger years. But I listened to what we were programmed to listen to "the experts" and IT DID NOT WORK!

    As soon as you eat anything with calories, your fast is over.

    • @JohnnyHughes1
      @JohnnyHughes1 3 роки тому +5

      TECHNICALLY as soon as you consume anything besides water, your FAST is OVER .. and if it is a dry fast, as soon as you consume water it is over. But what if you are not fasting because of the definition of the word fast, but you are trying to achieve an end. Sure, pick a different word than fast (you might say).
      Keto (and carnivore) are called fast mimicking diets because of their effects on the body.
      There are all kinds of fasts .. egg fasts, religious fasts, intermittent fasts, protein sparing fasts .. etc. None of those are necessarily an actual 'fast', they all have rules. The rules are different. Don't get hung up on a word definition. Do what makes you feel like you are fasting .. if you want to fast. And call it whatever you want (time restricted eating vs. intermittent fasting, etc).

      @cherylh4688 3 роки тому

      @@JohnnyHughes1 Hi, Johnny. Just want to say that I have never heard keto and carnivore referred to as "fast mimicking" diets. Is that really true?
      The "fast mimicking diet" concept, as I understand it, pertains to fasts that are done for health and healing purposes achieved primarily through the extreme reduction of insulin and through a cleansing/healing process known as autophagy. And what makes it fast "mimicking" is that it still allows the body to achieve those purposes while also allowing the ingestion of a few calories, to make the fasting periods less challenging physically and psychologically.
      And this can apparently be achieved if the fast mimicking diet provides both electrolytes and a few calories (I forget the max allowed) that come only from pure fats (fats do not trigger insulin) and/or substances that possibly enhance autophagy, such as small amounts of certain veggies, like broccoli, for instance, that have been found to have that effect. (Dr. Berg has a video on these autophagy-enhancing effects, btw. Or it might be Dr. Ekberg, but I think it's Dr. Berg).
      The main thing you CAN'T have, however, if you don't want to stop autophagy is PROTEIN. In fact, to be "fast mimicking," the protein intake in any 24-hr period must be less than 12-15 grams. (And as far as we know now, I think, it also takes 2-3 days of this limitation in calories and esp protein for autophagy to even begin.)
      So therefore, keto and carnivore would actually be the opposite of fast mimicking, from this perspective, as the only things they really limit are carbs, which the body may not need anyway. (I say MAY not need bcz some of the research on longevity has been revealing that veggies, for one, and especially "stressed" veggies, trigger activity in our "longevity genes," resulting in greater potential for longer life. [Olive oil, btw, also has this effect!] So some veggies n fruits may have enormous, and possibly even essential, benefits that have nothing to do w their carbs.)
      Anyway, happy to hear differently if I have any of this wrong. And in any case, namaste and have a nice day!

    • @JohnnyHughes1
      @JohnnyHughes1 3 роки тому

      perfectketo.com/fasting-mimicking-diet-and-how-to-do-it/
      There are plenty of 'specific' fast mimicking diets.. Most of them have in common that they limit carbs and limit calories and get you into ketosis. According to the theory, lower carbs and lower protein keep bllod sugar low and mimic the effect of a fast while you still eat something. Some people use fat as the something others use protein. Both probably work fine. I do it with fat.. Others do it with protein. Try both and see what works for you.
      In fact, maybe even doing both (at different times) might work even better.

    I've seen over the years and even back in the ZIOH days that some people don't lose weight at first or it even takes years for them to start losing. Recently I've become convinced that a lifetime of eating hydrogenated oils (bad fats) builds your cell membranes out of the wrong fats and you end up with a severely damaged ability to process nutrients across the cell membranes of your cells. The longer you eat meat (and no oils), and through autophagy, the more cells replace O6 in the cell membrane with O3's and sat fats and your body starts using nutrients/energy as it should. But it can take time because of this process.

They'll start to lose weight while changing NOTHING. It's like, their body heals and they can finally just drop body fat. It happens. And your theory could explain that. :)
