This video demonstrates how to use an external microphone with an iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, etc.

I took your advice and picked up the electret condenser microphone adapter from kvconnection.com. Inserted it in my iPhone 6 with a cheapie microphone and it worked very good. The audio came in nice and balanced through iMovie. Thanks for sharing!

Good video bud, I am trying to get audio from another camera's headphone out to go INTO my iPhone.
What I am trying to do is live broadcast through my iPhone but then use lavaliere microphones through my big camera. After the live broadcast is over I upload the big camera footage in perpetuity. Does this sound possible?

I bought an Insignia "Camera-Mounted Shotgun Condenser Microphone" from Best Buy and connected it to my iPhone 6 with a StarTech adapter that I got from Amazon, but whenever I try to record a video with it, I hear a patterned clicking noise during playback instead of clear audio. I can't figure out how to get rid of it. Any ideas on how I might be able to fix this problem?

Would you happen to know if there's a way to use a lav mic with an iphone, use an app such as AirLinc as a "monitor" or receiver, & connect to a bluetooth speaker to amplify the mic in real time? Basically, once a mic is plugged in to iphone, both input & output are happening through that port, correct? There's no adapter to make the port just for input?? Long shot, I know, but you seem to know about stuff!

Are there any settings to program on the iphone...I used to be able to use it, and now my mic does not seem to work anymore. You hear my voice really far with a shhh noise over it. I just bought a rodelink wireless kit + sc4 adaptor, but when I start recording videos on my iPhone 6 or android phone (Honor 7), it still capture the sound from the phone and not the external mic.
