How to Use an External Microphone with an iPhone or iPad!

1 million videos online showing what wires to use to connect a microphone. Literally nobody touches on what app to use on an iPhone and what settings because voice memos won't work regardless of what cords you are using. Ugh

Hi... does this set up work with zoom calls? Will I be able to hear and speak at the same time? If not, do you know how? Without headphones (my son keeps breaking them so I'm trying to set it up to where he's only using a mic to interact bc the ipad's mic volume stinks). Right now, he'll plug the mic in to speak and unplug it to listen.

yes i tried but the links did not lead me to the cable but later i found out that the name of the cable is trs trrs cable

i got 6s+ and ipad 6th gen... and i got splitter with 3 lines jack ... when i plugged into my ipad the external mic works well.. but when i plugged into my 6s plus.. the mic doesn't work... i don't know what is wrong ... can you give me some advice?? or should i buy and use an lighting adaptor instead of using the jack port directly ??
