    I have a Tascam audio recorder. On the top is a place for external mic input/ output. I bought a splitter to divide the signal in two. This removes the signal from the built in microphones on the device to the external mic. I sent one signal with the same adapter you have to the phone. The other signal is a lav mic. Then I adjusted the recording on the audio recorder to a 24 bit *. wav file and the decibel level. Of course, playback has to be done when you remove the lightning jack. I used a Bluetooth speaker for that because neither the audio recorder or the iPhone have very good speakers to verify if there was any distortion or not in the voice or how clear it was.

    • @PowerDeWise
      @PowerDeWise  2 роки тому

      As shown in the video, please note that the microphone is primarily used for recording on smartphones,
      In general, when an external microphone is connected to a smartphone, the built-in speaker of the smartphone is disabled so long as the microphone is connected. This is why you will need to unplug or disconnect the microphone to listen to the recording. Again, this applies to all smartphones.
      Furthermore, connecting an external microphone to a smartphone doesn't just stop the built-in speaker from working; it blocks out wireless audio output transmissions as well.
      To use an external microphone, like the PowerDeWise Professional Grade Lavalier Microphone, for phone calls, conference calls ( like on Zoom or Skype), or listen to a recording without unplugging or disconnecting the microphone, you need a Mic+Headphone Y-Splitter.
      This Y-Splitter allows you to plug in a microphone and headphones or earphones with a 3.5 mm Plug to your mobile phone simultaneously, with the microphone serving as the audio input channel and the headphone serving as the audio output channel.

    • @PowerDeWise
      @PowerDeWise  2 роки тому

      Please note that there won't be any special icon indicating that an external microphone has been connected.
      The iPhone Firmware was designed primarily designed for headphones/headsets and not standalone microphones.
      So, when you connect a microphone, it doesn't indicate as a microphone; instead, it shows as headphones/headset, usually at the top corner of the screen.

      As previously explained, the iPhone seeing the microphone as headphones is not a problem; it is normal.
      To use a lavalier microphone with an iPhone, you simply need to do the following;
      Connect the microphone to the Lightning to 3.5mm Jack Adapter.
      Plug the Lightning to 3.5mm Jack Adapter into your iPhone.
      Launch the video or audio recording app.
      Tap the “Record” icon to record
      Disconnect the microphone of the iPhone to listen to (or watch) the playback.

    Lovely video! If I had Bluetooth headphones connected to my phone at the same time as the microphone, is it possible to hear the audio when I'm speaking into the mic?

    • @PowerDeWise
      @PowerDeWise  3 роки тому +1

      In shortcut - unfortunately, no, as soon as you plug in microphone, your Bluetooth headphones stop working.
      Detailed explanation is the following: it happens that iPhones are primarily designed for headphones. So, when you connect anything other than a headphone to a phone, it sees it as sees as a microphone and a headphone at the same time.
      In other words, the built-in speaker of your phone stops working. Furthermore, connecting an external microphone into a smartphone doesn't just stop the built-in speaker from working, it also blocks out wireless audio output transmissions as well.
      To use an external microphone, like the PowerDeWise Professional Grade Lavalier Microphone, for phone calls, conference calls ( like on Zoom, Skype), or listen to a recording without having to unplug or disconnect the microphone, you need to buy a Mic+Headphone Y-Splitter.

    Do I need the exact adaptor that he uses in the video?

    • @PowerDeWise
      @PowerDeWise  6 місяців тому

      We typically recommend using a Lightning to 3.5mm jack adapter produced by Apple, the PowerDeWise Lightning to 3.5mm Jack Adapter, or the Lightning adapter included in the PowerDeWise iPhone kit with the Lightning adapter. This is crucial because not all Lightning to 3.5mm Jack Adapters are designed to recognize or work seamlessly with both audio input and output devices.

      The microphone automatically becomes the audio input channel once connected to the iPhone. So, all you need to do is connect the microphone, clip it to your shirt, and start recording, just as shown in the video. Please feel free to check our guide below for more information:

    • @PowerDeWise
      @PowerDeWise  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately, the design of smartphones (including iPhones) doesn’t allow to use simultaneously mic and wireless buds. To use an external microphone, like the PowerDeWise Professional Grade Lavalier Microphone, for phone calls, conference calls ( like on Zoom, Skype), or listen to a recording without having to unplug or disconnect the microphone, you need to buy a Mic+Headphone Y-Splitter, so you will be able to plug in a microphone and headphones or earphones with a 3.5 mm plug to your mobile phone at the same time, with the microphone serving as the audio input channel and the headphone serving as the audio output channel.
      Not going too far, you can find the Y-Splitter among our PowerDeWise products on Amazon.

    So i have two of these lav mics for my youtube channel. Is there a way to adjust the mic sensitivity when connecting it to the iphone to record a video. When I record the video my audio is always in the red. I kept my lav mic on the collar of my shirt, when I talk normally the sound is low. When I speak up it spikes to red and clips. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Side note I use Da vinchi Resolve to edit my video.

    • @PowerDeWise
      @PowerDeWise  3 роки тому

      The PowerDeWise Lavalier Microphone is a Plug-in power microphone. Therefore, using an application to regulate the microphone audio signal on a smartphone is somewhat difficult.
      A mobile recording application that provides an audio signal-regulating option is ShurePlus MOTIV, but it won't affect plug-in power type microphones significantly.
      Clipping the lavalier microphones to your collar should provide an optimal distance for the microphones to function correctly.
      Also, it's pretty unusual for two microphones to have the same issue, so please send us a recording, one for each microphone, and your Amazon order number to support@powerdewise.com for further investigation.

    Do you use a teleprompter app on your iPhone while using your lav mic for recording vids? If so, have you ever experienced latency in your audio when recording? #thanks!! :)

    • @PowerDeWise
      @PowerDeWise  3 роки тому +1

      We record videos using a teleprompter app, we do not experience any latency. If you are experiencing latency, it can be due to the following;
      1. An overloaded RAM;
      A slow and tried device is capable for causing an audio latency when recording. Restarting the smartphone will reset every function and start everything afresh. If what's causing the audio latency is an overloaded RAM, it should stop after restarting.
      2. The teleprompter app;
      Try using different teleprompter app. We usually recommend the teleprompter app below.
      Teleprompter for Vide‪o
      apps.apple.com/us/app/teleprompter-for-video/id1139307843
      This app is both a video recorder and teleprompter.

    • @PowerDeWise
      @PowerDeWise  2 роки тому

      The PowerDeWise Lavalier Microphone provides audio support for the voice memo and iPhone's video recording apps.
      Therefore, you only need an iPhone, and no post-recording audio/video synchronization is required. Just connect the microphone to your smartphone, clip the mic on your shirt (as shown in the video), launch the video recording app, and press record.

      Dear Customer,
      Please ensure that every time you use the microphone, the microphone is properly connected to the iPad.
      If you are using an iPad without a headphone jack, like the Apple iPad Pro 12.9 (2018), please ensure that there's always a click between the microphone and the Type C USB to 3,5mm Jack Adapter. Also, you can try using a different Type C USB to 3,5mm Jack Adapter and see if the mic functions as it should
