How To Connect A Blue Yeti To A Camera

- Here is a tutorial on how to connect a Blue Yeti USB condenser microphone to a camera. In this case, I am connecting the Yeti to my Nikon D5300 dslr camera using a 3.5mm aux cable. However, this should work with any type of camera as long as it has a 3.5mm mic input. You can also do this with other microphones as well, as long as they have a headphone jack. Such as the Maono AU-PM401, which I also demonstrate in this video. Let me know what you think, or if you have any questions!

Omg thank goodness I found this video. I'm trying to film a quick video and have spent about 40 minutes setting up only for all my test videos to just have a weird white noise sound instead of actual sound. I was using a regular phone USB-power adaptor not plugging it into a computer, it's fixed now so thank you SO MUCH!!!
Glad it worked out for you! 🙌
Thank you so much I been recording on my phone but I don’t have storage to do good videos so I bought a camera and realized I have no idea how to connect my blue yeti to my camera 😂❤
FINALLY!!! I've been searching on UA-cam all day, for the past week actually trying to find an exact video of how to hook this up from a Blue Yeti to my Sony ev-10 camera! Your video hit the nail on the head! Thank You! Now I need to find out how to do the same for the nt5 mics to my camera through a condenser (Scarlett 2i2).
BRUH THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!!! THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO ON THIS TOPIC I'VE SEEN YET. HOLY NUTS. Been trying to figure this out and save me time for the past few months. You are a blessing mate. PS: I Peeped all of those microphones in the background lol Keep making great content brother
Glad I could help! Best of luck with everything! 🙌 and thank you!
Great video! Such a simple solution but oh so valuable, saving everyone loads of time messing around
Thank you! Just needed that tip about plugging it into the computer!
Thank you so much for this video I was looking for this video as my camera is Canon EOS 60D that has an audio jack connectivity.....Thank you so much~
I will be trying this out later. You are a genius!

No problem bro! Thank you for giving me the video idea! Hope this helps! 😄
Life saver! Thank you 😊
You're welcome!
Great video! Can you adjust your audio setting levels in your editing software before you start recording or does all audio settings have to be done on the camera? I'm currently adjusting audio levels for my Yeti in my editing software (before trying your setup). Thanks.
It works, I have an "audio pro mic "
Paired with a canon and it worked!
Thank you 😊
Unfortunately I'm getting a lot of feedback, how do I stop the white noise? The noise ruined an entire video that I just recorded.
thank you dude!
You're welcome!
Hello, Thank you for the video.
Can you also try to connect the camera with the Scarlet audio interface and condenser microphone
2:54 this is exactly what i was looking for! Lol 🎯 i was talking to my dad about this confusion, i guess i need one of those audio cables to connect to my canon camera then! 😀👍👍
Glad I could help! Best of luck with your recordings! 🙌
THANK YUUU
Thank you ☺️
You're welcome! 🙌
I am super excited to have found this video! I have D3200 and I'm finally putting it to use. I am running into an issue of a buzzing in the video when my Yeti is muted. I figured its because the camera mic is trying to pick up the sound. Any advice on how to get it to stop? I've turned the movie mic setting off but then the Yeti doesn't work. Please help!
Thank you
You're welcome!
Thank you soooo muchhhhh
You're welcome! 🙌
Hello and thanks for your help . I have the yeti mic and trying to connect to my Nikon Z5. I have it set up exactly how you described in video. It doesn’t seem to be working . Something is missing . Do you have any other tutorials?
Followup, do you think this process might work with the Samson Q2U?
Are both ends of the cable TRS or TRRS?. Also does the computer needs to be ON or Suspended. Because if its ON, I believe the PC automatically recognizes the MIC sound and you cant split it into the PC and Camera at the same time.
This video helped! But...I abandoned the Yeti with GoPro, and exclusively use the Rode Wireless Go II. The setup with the yetti is too convoluted.
I use my Yeti for voice-over.
Thank you for the video.
and if I want to hear at the same time on headphones what I'm recording? for example asmr recordings. should my headphones be connected to the camera? because the headphone socket on the blue yeti is occupied with the microphone cable... I need help.
Thank you! I was pulling my hair out. I used just a power block.
Where is the audio recording going? Is it actually going into the camera? Or into a movie editing software on your pc?
Is there a way to monitor the audio with headphones whilst recording? 🤔
And when i want to Heat myself st te Same time ? Because my asmr ? How can i Connect to have also my headphone in ?
2 questions: What if I need headphones to listen to myself speak while recording? Also, can I record from my camera or do I need to record from my computer?
Hi!!!! I’m so HAPPY I came across your video!!!!! I need help please!!!!! So I’m starting my ASMR channel I have the NikonD5300 and the Yeti (similar to the one you have) but for some reason I can’t get the audio to work!! Also I want to be able to hear my voice while I’m recording, is that possible????
Hi, sorry to hear that it's not working. Have you tried using the Blue Yeti just on a computer? I'm wondering if the issue is with the camera or if there is something wrong with your Blue Yeti. As for being able to hear your voice while you record to your camera, I haven't tried this but I think this should work. I think if you get a headphone splitter and plug it into your Blue Yeti, then you can have the aux cable and headphones both plugged in at the same time. I don't have a headphone splitter on me at the moment, so I haven't tried this, but I think it should work.
@@TobiasHolenstein Thank you so much for responding, so I think the issue is the audio cable that goes in the camera and the blue Yeti, when I put it on, it’s not like clicking right, it makes a weird noise. I also order a splitter, I think that way I’ll be able to hear my voice while recording 😌 Thanks again!!
Hey Tobias I have a quick question, right now I have a mauno au04 but do you think the blue snowball ice would be a good upgrade? I’ve been making tiktoks doing voice impressions but I feel like I need a better mic…
That's a good question. Off the top of my head I feel like the A04 sounds better than the snowball, but I'll have to do a side by side comparison to be sure. Maybe I'll do that for next Mondays video
Edit: btw lemme know your tiktok and I'll follow you!
@@TobiasHolenstein oh okay, we’ll I am using the microphone on iPhone so that may be why it does sound too well, thanks for getting back to me though and my tiktok is
Sunny_Voices
Oh Really Thank You Its Working For Mic Arrozi Colona please?
I haven't tried with that mic, but if your mic has a headphone jack, I think it should work
why do i only hear static when ido this coming from my camera
Is it possible to connect to a camera? Everytime needs a computer when using Blue Yeti?
i been wanting to use my yeti mic but wne i hook it up to my dslr it has an echo
Thank you for this!! Question- if I want to hear what I’m recording while I’m recording with headphones or earbuds, would I connect them to my computer?
Thank you!!
To hear your audio while recording, one thing that might work is using a headphone splitter so you can plug in both the aux cable and the headphones. My other idea kind of defeats the purpose of recording the Blue yeti straight to the camera, but if you want to connect your headphones to your computer, at that point I would probably just recommend recording your audio independently to your computer in an app like GarageBand or maybe Audacity. You'll have to sync the audio up in editing, but you won't have to buy a headphone splitter if you do this
Thank you so much! I bought a splitter. I knew there must be something out there I just didn’t know what it was called so I couldn’t search for one (newbie). Thank you so much!!
@@_thekatieshow You're welcome! Glad I could help
Great video! Instead plug the usb cable in a computer, do you have a chance to put in a power bank? It's will be useful in a birthday recording. Thanks in advance!
Thank you! Unfortunately you will need to plug it into a computer, I'm not exactly sure what the reason is, but I think there needs to be some sort of communication between the mic and a computer or other device in order for the microphone to work.
This worked for me with my iMac but when I tried with my MacBook it wouldn’t work for some reason 😭 not sure what to do because if I need the setup somewhere else I can’t move around an iMac very easily
Does anyone know what are the differences between TRS cable and AUX cable? I can't find the differences.
It seems to me that I can buy either of them to connect my BLUE YETI X to DLSR camera?
2 stripes works better in stereo. 3 stripes won't.
Will this work for the Sony ZV1?
I don't know that camera specifically, but it should work with any camera that has a 3.5mm mic input
@TobiasHolenstein Sony ZV1 is one of the BEST vlogging camera on the market right now - Run you about $700 bucks - But using auxiliary wires would mean i couldn't monitor my mic with headphones :(
Does it absolutely need to be plugged into a computer?
So I was just thinking and there may be a way to do this with a smartphone instead of a computer, but you will also need a powered USB hub. If you check out this video, I show how to use the Blue Yeti with an iPhone ua-cam.com/video/IgCcB1QgpYU/v-deo.html I believe the iphone will work instead of a computer and then you can just connect your camera to the Blue yeti's headphone jack
didn't work any ideas?
… I DIDN’T NEED TO BUY AN ADAPTOR.
Salut j’ai un blue yeti et un Ninon d5200 et ça ne fonctionne pas je ne comprend pas… 🥹
