  • Had a customer bring this one to me the other day looking to match it up with some subs. The subs he was suggesting getting were fairly large, so I decided to see what he actually had to work with first.

    Tks man I was always curious about those! I figured it would do between half and 3/4 of what it was rated! Tks again! Your really pumping these videos out! Keep rocking!

    Wow, pretty pathetic. It's time to start holding these amp manufacturers accountable for these outrageous claims. Speak da truf!

    I'm glad to hear you also share my PURE ANGER and frustration towards amp manufacturers that over-rate their amps. False advertising should be ILLEGAL!

    Maybe this amp is meant for use in semi trucks using a 24 volt system.... ramp up the input voltage and go for it! no guts, no glory! (at least, the chasing led logo was kind of cool)

    Have you thought about trying the pioneer 8601 or 9601 class d amps

    All good things must come to an end I guess. I have a ground pounder that’s 10 to 12 years old and it’s beat my p3 12s in 2ohm since I bought it new quite nicely. Had 1 before that, that separated the spiders on a pair of alpine type R 12s. Sad that crunch used to be a good bang for your buck amp.

    Maybe it's a 6 channel amp... Haha I do love my 1" dome crunch tweeters. They have the elusive sizzle...

    Hey. I've been trying to find a video or info on how to test for wattage or rms power without housing a dyno, basically I want to find out how much power my amp is really putting out, do you know a way to do it with just a meter ? Thanks

    • @TheAmpLab
      @TheAmpLab  9 років тому

      Get yourself an SMD AMM-1. But you will still need some sort of load to drive the amp into, either subs or dummy loads.

  • @claysonwebster1622

    probably good for mids/highs

  • @jasonjackson329
    @jasonjackson329 9 років тому

    Well how can it be done without a smd tool , like to use just a multimeter? Cause there's post to be a way to use a meter to be able to get it close enough may not be exact but close at least

    • @TheAmpLab
      @TheAmpLab  9 років тому +1

      It's called clamping. And it might be close sometimes, or WAY off. Clamping will almost always be higher than actual wattage. It's not accurate.

    I fully agree, enough with the over exaggerated ratings already.

    What a good brand that puts out what it really says it's putting out on rms?

    • @TheAmpLab
      @TheAmpLab  9 років тому

      There are many, Rockford, Alpine, Kicker Sundown, SKAR, Ampere, MMATS, Twisted Sounds, JL Audio, Cactus Sounds, and tons of others.

      LW Audio and Soundstream (I own a 1.1600 and an XTA480.2 haha)

    • @Skarfar90
      @Skarfar90 7 років тому

      Any Zenon-based amplifier (like Sundown, SKAR, DC Audio etc.) puts out rated wattage (and more so)
      So does Pioneer*, JBL, Ground Zero and many other well known branded amps..
      I must also mention Rockville and CAB (Car Audio Bargain). They make decent stuff at a low cost, so there is absolutely a budget option available, which indeed does rated power.
      Stay clear of Boss, Crunch, Power Acoustik, and any of the other "el-Cheapo" amplifiers out there..
      The big bloated MAX power ratings usually tells the amps away.
      * Pioneer is known to put max ratings on the box, but the actual RMS ratings are correct (check BigDWiz' video on the GM-D9601 for further clarification)

    Thats crunch for you. It's cheap but don't expect the rated power. I've had a crunch for a couple of years. It works but its not spectacular.

      yes i agree. as a long time subscriber of 5 minutes, i feel you need to expand your content! seriously though, that would be cool if you opened em up like you did the sq vs. brutus. thanks for these vids, and keep em comin. and, could you do a sundown svc2000? i would like to see a comparison to something, as being korean it more than likely shares the board and other components with cheaper brands. but don't tell that to the guys at the smd forum, they'll lock your post!

    The owner thought it WAS 2000 watts. Thats how they get away with it. 600 sumthin watts is pretty damn load unless your into competition spl. Still crappy tho but if you do buy cheap just double the power you really need when buying

  • @mikenike776
    @mikenike776 6 років тому +1

    i dont think some of these tests are very accurate because there is a bunch different things that could change the results plus your voltage was pretty low and most amps run at about 14v the output of the radio can change it alot, also those tests dont replicate normal listening and another variable is how the amp is tuned what size wire for power and speaker wire all these things can effect the total output by decent amount if you take those things in to consideration you would probably make up that lost 2 or 300 watts running the amp at optimal usage wire size tuning rca input level max voltage and vdrop amperage and so on and we must remember there is a huge difference between rms rated power and max power as most amps never make there max rating but most come close or make over there rms rating which is basically the only thing that changes how much good power you make also some subwoofers are less than 2ohms usually a good 2ohm subwoofer will come up around 1.6ish which would also effect the power hugely

      @thadoggma 6 років тому +1

      Mike Worden did you even watch it all the way through? He ramped the voltage up and only got 850 watts dynamic at 16v!!! So just keep blaming the testing procedures....
