Agreed, if you're able to feed them a solid 14.8V from lithium batteries or super capacitors then it'll pull closer to 1500 at 1ohm not sure why he says that his shuts off if he tries it at 1ohm as I've ran mine for years at 1ohm and have even ran it at half ohm at times just for testing dual 1ohm woofers however I have been doing car audio since the late 80's and know what I'm doing lol so I'm able to wire it at half ohm knowing that with impedance rise it'll never see a true load below 1ohm also the guy mentioned thermal protection? Well with mine wired at 1ohm and mounted in a hot car trunk it has never not once shut down from any sort of protection 🤷♂️
Nice video ,like always. Thanks for sharing this valuable information about amps. I just picked one up from a pawn shop for $80.00.. I think I did good. :-)
Robert Cary his voltage is at 13.2, if it was 14.4 or higher it would put more power out, i had a zx1000 that put out over 1200 watts and the birth sheet said it was over 1200, the sheet said 1280, i was getting around 1250 out of the amp
Just repaired and installed one of these with a P2D4 10 in a 3/4 inch mdf box ported to 40hz. total cost (new box, new woofer, repaired amp) $65 I'm a happy camper!
Im sorry to be a hater but this video didnt say pretty much anything your voltage was all over the place and your amp should never.see anything lower than 13 volts so idk
ever look at Steve meades amp tests? All of the videos his amps are getting tested around 14 v. Im not even a kicker fan im just saying you aren"t giving the amp the full benefit of the doubt .
No you didn't. It absolutely goes into shutdown/protect. I own a bunch of these Amps, and I have a better charging system than you, I promise. Stop making shit up.
I know this is an old thread but most of you don't know what you're talking about unless you have an upgraded electrical system what he's doing to test that is actually slightly better than real world situation with a stock electrical system
karzygijose i will go with the pioneer I have one to 8601 and I got it down to a 1 ohm load with it is handling not getting warm pushing 3 12s and I'm getting about 800 to 900 watts easily at 14.4 volt and it doesn't get warm cut off for nothing the Planet Audio or had to 15 and that thing is shity it doesn't put out the power and a bass sound real flat and if you try to run it at 1 on it will click and cut on and off after about maybe 20 to 30 minutes playing music constantly it'll it'll just go on and off my best bet is to go with the Pioneer bro get 2 of them and you sound really amazing bass head forever
J Gregor I guess u don’t know your stuff lol caps are crap and ho alt would be best, and I can guarantee most systems in the audio game is not going to see 14 +volts
These amps do almost 1000 watts at 2ohms. You aren't giving the amp the power it needs

I still have one running hard 14 years later
needs to be at 14.4 to get most accurate rating since that's what the manufacture rates it at
Have to run it at 14.4 v!!
Sine wave for 45 minutes into a resistive load? That's DAMN hard on the amp!!! Bravo!
If you had the currant that amp would do way better than rated...older kicker amps are the same as foagates, way underrated

Kind of surprising it didn't do more. My old zx750 claimed 968 on its build sheet and it absolutely pounded my two 12s.

Cool vid and cool toys!
Without seeing video or reading comments it sure can do its rated power and go down to 1 ohm💪

I didn't see a amp meter on your setup but I was wondering what kind of current demand does this use at 2 ohm?
Have you tested a kicker kxa2400.1 yet? Im real curious to see what it may be able to do at 4 ohm and 1 ohm
At 14.4v it would easily pass 1kw.
I had this amp and loved it had it running a 12 cvx shit was great
How much do the two meters cost and where do I get them? Do I have to use a resistive load instead of speakers?
Gotta get your voltage up when you're doing these tests.
Have you tested a kicker cx600.1 yet I would like to know what it makes at 1ohm?
ever look at Steve meades amp tests? All of the videos his amps are getting tested around 14 v. Im not even a kicker fan im just saying you aren"t giving the amp the full benefit of the doubt .
Do you fix amps?
If you could stay above 14.4 volts result could be better?
Brilliant deduction
Do you have a zx550.2 dyno
Is that rms wattage
Can it handle 1.3 I'm about to put 3 subs to it there rated at 200 each.
I ran my 08 kicker zx750.1 at 1/2 ohm for over a week with no issues, got a little warm but performed flawlessly.
ive ran kicker zx550.2, 750.1 1200.1, and 2500.1 and none of them would last longer than 3 minutes at 1 ohm.
No you didn't. It absolutely goes into shutdown/protect. I own a bunch of these Amps, and I have a better charging system than you, I promise. Stop making shit up.
@@arthursnead40 because you tell the truth. Other dudes a retard liar

I wired my zx 750.1 to a 1 ohm load what do you think its pushing?
What it's pushing
@@brotharobmusic lol they aren’t stable or rated at 1 ohm if I had to guess it would be about the same as 2ohm
@@abelscaliber7969 I doubt it, the zx2500.1 puts out almost 5k at 1 ohm
With this kind of testing there is no box rise, correct?
You don't understand how this all works if you even have to ask
@@jamesstephenson2346 yes I don't know. So is there box rise?
ratingsg not accurate in an actual stereo this thing do MORE than 750!!!
Is it possible to get your hands on a planet audio anarchy 1500.1M and a pioneer GM-8601? To dyno their true rms is
karzygijose yeah ive got a cheap entry level planet audio amp and am curious myself
karzygijose i will go with the pioneer I have one to 8601 and I got it down to a 1 ohm load with it is handling not getting warm pushing 3 12s and I'm getting about 800 to 900 watts easily at 14.4 volt and it doesn't get warm cut off for nothing the Planet Audio or had to 15 and that thing is shity it doesn't put out the power and a bass sound real flat and if you try to run it at 1 on it will click and cut on and off after about maybe 20 to 30 minutes playing music constantly it'll it'll just go on and off my best bet is to go with the Pioneer bro get 2 of them and you sound really amazing bass head forever
Cant believe it didnt do rated power @2ohms
Mike Foland it would do over at 14.4volts where it’s rated at. His test was over 1 volt low
14.4 volts man. thats what cars run at. especially if you have a good battery and cap.why test at 13 volts?
J Gregor I guess u don’t know your stuff lol caps are crap and ho alt would be best, and I can guarantee most systems in the audio game is not going to see 14 +volts
He doesn’t have the batteries or power supply to give it proper voltage during test.
Mr Vaj caps are not as good as batteries and ho alternator but a good cap can still help a little bit I wouldn’t tell anyone to go buy caps lol
1.6 ohms isnt under 1 ohm right ?
Chad Beverly 1.6 ohm is above 1 ohm. This amp will do closer to 1k at 14.4 volts.
@@Thumper68 oh ok kool
First!
you honestly should stop doing these amp tests with your shitty battery bank
This video is over a year old. we have 10 XS D1400 batteries now.
thats good :)
Do you have a zx550.2 dyno
