    Not bad. Banda definitely made a cool looking amp that matches it's performance. I like the plexi where the terminals are. Nice little detail from Banda.

    I use Banda in my car and recommend it. Good frequency response, good construction, good adjustments, it has the power it promises and it is beautiful. The disadvantage I see is that it is not as small as Soundigital.

    I'm running this amp for 2 years with good electrical. It never overheats in a tropical climate, delivers good power and has a switch to disable all filtering to allow the low lows, which is what I use it for

    Thinking of getting back into the life. I used to have a Soundigital 8K powering 2 DD 18s. That was around the time Brazilian Amps were just coming over. No one wanted to believe the power they were putting out because of the small wire inputs. I didn’t push it hard, but that 8K never got hot.

    Another great video Big D! I have to say that I find all these Brazilian amps somewhat interesting, but I still can't see the appeal of these over more traditional designs that we're used to. With that said, I think I like the overall design of this one the best of any that you have tested up to this point. I kind of like how they incorporated the cooling fans into the corners of the heatsink. Pretty nice design all around. Keep 'em coming, Big D!!! Great job!

    I ran the Viking series, version 1 amps about 6 years ago. Loved them things. Had a pair of 5k's on two 18's I built using Treo CSX motors, in a 6th order. I never had problems with the amplifiers, at all. Tried the v2 amps, and they were notorious for having weak solder points. Was a shame, lol...so back in the v1's went. I still enjoy Banda products.

    Here are some facts about that sound truck "Carreta Treme Treme":
    - 264 x 15" 3,750 W woofers;
    - 112 x mid/high drivers;
    - 45 x Soundigital amps, giving more than 3 million watts RMS;
    - 30,000 amps in batteries;
    - 3 tons of cables. 10 km of wiring.
    [www.carretatremetreme.com.br/a-carreta]

    In one of your videos you mention the bass from these Brazillians is "different" in what way?
    I swapped my Sundown SCV 7500 for 2 Banda 8K, yes the 2 Bandas was quite a bit louder but sounded different, less aggressive than the SCV 7500. I wound up selling the 2 Bandas and a loss and waiting for a Wolfram 7.5K to arive.......So disappointed in the Brazillian on bass.

    Big D Wiz have you seen or heard of the Crunch PD3000.2 3000 Watt 2-Channel Pro Power Car Audio Amplifier Class AB Amp on Amazon? Its been a while since I've hear from the company. Was just wondering.

      Crunch is now owned by Maxxsonics (with HiFonics, MB Quart and Autotek). That 3000 watt rating is a MAX number

    Is the Dyno AD-1 reading RMS or peak power? I ask because in another video you ran dynamic mode with some music into the TP3116 and the reading went to 96 and stayed there.

    • @wal
      @wal  6 років тому

      All measurements on Dyno are RMS. The dynamic tests are pulse tracks, so you will see power jump up quickly on those tests. You can see the manual on DamoreEngineering.com for the AD-1 Amp Dyno if you have Q’s about the modes.

    Epcos? Wow! Those are very high quality (same compnay as TDK) Japanese caps. Like same situation as Rubycon and Nichicon... they are the real deal. I see your efficiency numbers are a bit lower than they should be since the amps will spike up in current when clipping and that is where you took your amperage measurements on your clamp... I would say efficiency is more like 75-80% rather than 65-70% - Either way, great test, great observations on the quality of the heatsink.. You know I think these may be better than Soundigital... they sure are cheaper!!! I always considered Soundigital the gold standard for Brazilians... obviously Taramps is pretty cheap.. (although not terrible compared to some Chinese clones) but the Soundigital is decent (albeit soundigital is WAY overpriced) - I think I might pick up one of these Bandas to try out... - Like for real, companies that are crappy dont (usually) spend money on quality Japanese components.. My trust for them has gone way up seeing those Epcos caps.

    Did you have a problem with preout voltage from the hu? Ik the older bandas didn't like higher preout voltages.

    • @wal
      @wal  6 років тому

      No problem with HU. This amp required gain all the way up with HU volume all the way up. Otherwise it would not reach full output potential. Most modern amps are set around half to obtain max output during the 10 sec test

      My 7k2e has been flogged daily for 5 years w/o ever getting more than luke warm. I've even taken it out of the car (thus connected and disconnected it) hundreds of times. I even run it all the way down to protect mode at 9.2V because I don't have proper battery support. I've dropped it that low millions of times wired .7 rising .3 to a perfect 1ohm. I power cycle and go right back to 10V hits nonstop, for as long as I like. I'm so spoiled now, I won't even entertain the idea of buying any other brand amp.
      Setup is 2 soloX18s in 26.5 cubes tuned to 36Hz.

    7:48 So what'd the difference between "1% mode" and "Clipping" mode? Clipping is a form of the general term distortion. So if we're talking 1% total harmonic distortion and we're using sine waves, how is that different from clipping? Me thinks a term is being used improperly here?

    • @wal
      @wal  6 років тому

      Amp Dyno distinguished tests between the two. The certified test stops measuring at 1% THD. Whereas the uncertified continues to the point of clipping and continues the test to see if any more RMS Power can be obtained at this point of clipping. With many amps there can be a significant difference in the results (4-7%), but most show 1% or less difference between the two tests

      Shaun Jay we got 4300 rms clamped consistently inside and outside the lanes on a SQ 4500, wired to 0.5, rising to 0.9 at 12.2v. This particular vehicle was running a northstar agm34 under the hood, a 300 amp GP alt, and a single northstar smsagm80 (the 35lb northstar) as the entire rear battery bank accompanied with sufficient wiring. This vehicle consistently busted out of the 4k rms class in many runs until things were aligned and dialed back properly. Unless any parts qualities have changed since they first came out, this is what you should expect.

    • @popwarhomie

      Brazilian amps are built like that because they are meant to be very close to the battery bank. In Brazil they don’t run HO alternators often. Just big battery banks. A 1’ run of 4 gauge can take quite a bit of amperage. All 10 of my Taramps were ran with very short power and grounds to my battery bank.

    • @wal

      Current measured x voltage. Then take watts shown on Dyno and divide by the (current x voltage). Doesn’t matter which wire you clamp (positive or negative), same current flows through each
