- Throwing this old school Kicker Impulse amp on my Amp lab and AMM-1 to see what it's made of. We're not talking thousands of watts here, but what it does do is pretty damn impressive.

Lo and Behold, I possess the 4-channel version, the Mighty IX404! It is an excellent little amp: 'Parallel Input' switch, independent Bass and Treble eq's - F & R (used sparingly!), independent X-over selection choices of 70hz/110hz... what more do ya need in a class A/B amp for mid and high ranges??
Though the previous owner performed DIY "fuse-bypass" MacGyvery on it; effectively bypassed the fusing circuit and even took the trouble to mold some shapeable black polymer (Fimo?) to cover up the bypass surgery, which I honestly didn't even notice until after I had installed it - he did a pretty decent job of it lol!! I can imagine it was done likely from abusing the piss out of it driving subwoofers at TOO low of impedance and got tired of it popping fuses.....
Needless to say, it is a tough little amp, never an issue, runs COOL, and still sounds quite well too! It actually cranks very loud and clear - definitely more than 40wrms a channel to me!
Although I've never opened 'er up, I understand they used decent to upper-end components in these series. I am wondering if Kicker still makes capable little 4-channel amps of this quality anymore?

I had the IX406 back in the day and these amps were pretty nice. I ran 3 12" 8ohm polk dx's off the sub channel and it sounded really good. I wish I still had that amp, they're getting harder to find now a days.
I have a kicker ix406 which is in pristine condition only used for approx 6months then pulled out of my merc along with the speakers and subs,tweeters and all the wiring looms just give me a msg if you want to buy it from me?

I know these are rare, but could you PLEASE do an amp dyno on an old Jensen Ka5? I know most people hate Jensen but this was a Zed design and one of the few gems in thier line. I'd like to know what it really puts out. Thanks for considering.
I didn't know the AMM-1 would do dynamic power measurements too. What is a good source of signal for dynamic tests? Is there some standard disc?
I was going to say I would like to see some old school pioneer because we all know most of the big name do rated or close but pioneer and kenwood both good brands rate there's at max in bold print and rms in small letters at the bottom! But Gary Spingay of pas magazine tested the GM-D9500f a newer amp and it made rated power at 12.6v! a lot of headroom! But really I like watching all amps get dynoed every kind every brand keep up the good work!!!
I got an AMM-1 recently and am doing dyno test videos. On my older videos, I just used a DD-1 Distortion detector and multimeter and calculated the V.A.

Isai Martinez yes you can, it’s not going to push them to full full potential but will def bump them, I threw this guy on my kicker l7 15 and cvr 15 and it def pushing them guys, not to the full potential of the subs for sure but def bumps them I recommend you throw a 35 a fuse in their thi bc that 20 gonna blow quick and I have a 35 in there and no prob at all
All Kicker amplifiers more than likely do rated and are under rated. That being said I've seen a lot of this guy's test and while his test are more like what you would see with an 80 to 100 amp factory alternator, his test do not show the full potential that a 14.4 volt system will do to the amplifiers he test.
i have the spec sheet. 12.5 volts rms 14.4 dynamic.
I might grab the ix405 for around 100 bux
