I have to agree with Bob Schiller. To me the Whiskey Row cigars are not good at all. Then again I don't particularly care for any of the Rabbit Hole whiskeys either.
Rex in his old mooch robe looks like the long lost wizard who had an existential crisis and is looking for his purpose in every Somms bottle. He even found a Hobbit to journey with.
This is my favorite sherried bourbon Bc of it being the sweetest I’ve found and one of my daily drinkers Bc of it. Readily available here in Louisville

Rabbit Hole claims a wheated mash bill for Dareringer. New Riff does not use wheat. They have a very classic mash bill of 65% corn, 30% rye, and 5% barley. So I am pretty sure they don't source from New Riff.

Daniel and Rex go back to the Basil Hayden dark rye again. I bought one a few months ago and drank about half with family and friends then let it sit. The air in the bottle changed the whole flavor profile and nose. It's now red dry wine on the nose and the same with the taste as well as small hints of oak and citrus to me. But deeeeeeefinetly the wine up front very dry.
I’m as nerdy a Trek, Star Wars, and LOT fan can be without being able to speak any weird language, collecting toys, or having any costume. But I can speak with the nerdier nerds about that stuff all day in American English
I'd love to see a supercut of all the random conversations that get cut from the episodes. Hours of conversation without ever talking about whiskey, it would be glorious!

QUESTION FOR THE SOM & MOOCH: I'm thinking of starting my own whiskey semi-expensive collection. What do you guys do at the Vault to get around air effecting the whisk(e)y once you open it?? Do you mooch them all quickly like Rex or just not open the special ones like Daniel 😅?? Need to know before I dump $$$$
If there were a comiccon that decided after the con was over they were going to over-run the vault in full Middle Earth garb it would probably be deserved after this one.
You should give New Riff another taste. Their 2021 single barrel releases are remarkably better than anything they've put out so far. Their bourbon is finally reaching maturity.
For the regulations that stipulate that Bourbon and "Rye Whiskey" have to use new barrels, what's the technical definition of "used"? Could a cask hold water for a few months to soak out some of the stronger wood impact and still be "new" from a spirit perspective?
Question for Daniel and Rex: Does any distillery/blender blend new make spirits together before barrelling for instance blending new make single malt with new make single grain?

A friend of mine turned me on to it. It's very hard to find under the state border. I was so happy the class 6 on Fort Campbell started carrying it!

Their barrels are used for the Diesel Whiskey Row cigars and they go amazingly well together
Unfortunately, IMO the Whiskey Row cigars are probably the worst things AJ Fernandez has ever made.

I have the Rabbit Hole Cave Hill edition and was not impressed but was not completely turned off. It's ok but would rather spend the money elsewhere.
