Kotomi’s parent here 😊 Thank you very much to the TwoSet team for this once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from Brett Sensei and Eddy Sensei! 🤓 She has been wanting to pick up the violin ever since she starting following TwoSet years back. She has been a student of TwoSet Academy since forever. Her interest and knowledge of everything violin is purely from binging your videos. She had the best time attending this intensive crash course and was full of praises for Brett Sensei! Thank you again to Producer-San for gifting us this core memory experience! ❤ Thank you also to Synwin for the wonderful gift!
She did a wonderful job! I started playing when I was her age and it was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I hope this is just the beginning of her journey with music! ❤️
This is from Catherine’s parents. We full-heartedly thank TwoSet Violin for opening up a new world of music to Catherine. ❤❤ She fell in love with violin at first sight, and is now attending weekly violin lessons. Brett and Eddy are an amazing duo. They are funny and full of energy. Although we only spent less than half day with them, their passion for music and love for young music learners are unforgettable.
Brett is just the best with kids, I'm sure he makes them feel at ease immediately with waving at the camera and high fiving! Also the way he explains things is so easy to follow! Eddy too, is really encouraging and clear in explaining things.
I just can't with Brett interacting with kids, he's such a natural at it ! He knows when to be serious, when to be silly, how to put himself to their level of understanding. Just... if he ever becomes a dad, he'll be an amazing one. 🥲
I always get nore natural teacher vibes from Brett, whenever they explain things to anyone (audience, their friends...) Eddy is a skilled musician, but he uses more musician-centric terms all the time, and isn't able to break things down into layman pieces. I don't know if it's his subconscious need to flex, or if it's just harder for him to verbalize his thoughts in general.
@@wondercotonI think Eddy can verbalize well, but needs only more experience in teaching kids. Or maybe his personality is little bit more suitable for teaching teen/adult students
My violin teacher is a full-time teacher, for different age groups and levels, but I'm learning more on my own than in the lessons lol. She showed me the fingerings once, handed me the bow and expected me to immediately sightread nursery rhymes.
This is a great pedagogical technique, and one they use a lot in their videos. Often what appears to us to us as pure comedy is actively teaching something. Exaggerated imitations of common mistakes, the ones where they demonstrate the different kinds of students or different styles of famous soloists, the critiques of actors playing violinists in TV and films--they're using these strategies to draw our attention to things. Brett and Eddy demonstrated an understanding, very early on, that people learn best when they don't realize they are learning. As a self-taught adult I have probably passively learned more from them than any other resource--especially since they cover a lot of "unwritten curriculum" stuff that is not covered in formal lessons or books but is picked up through experience, over years of simply playing. This is why it is hard to know whether to describe TwoSet as violinists, a comedy duo, or edutubers, because they are very much equally all three of these things. Though they may not think of themselves as the latter two, I definitely see it. Their chemistry echoes that of the great comedy duos, and their innovation and experimentation is exactly the kind of thing that made people like Bill Nye and the Green brothers special. ...sorry I kind of ran away with that lol.
When he said “this violin is for you,” I started crying. How incredibly sweet. Brett and Eddy, you guys have really outdone yourself. Thank you for sharing this with us! And Kotomi and Catherine, you both rock! Great job! Remember that music is for the love and joy of it, regardless of what career path you take.
I don't know if it was just me who noticed but the girl who was being trained by Brett has a lot of potential on the violin, perfect posture and was holding the bow very well for the first time and played very well, good sense of time (It looks like she has a metronome in her head ).
I was thinking the same thing. Brett is a very good teacher, no doubt about that, but this little girl seems to be a natural. Hope she can keep playing with her parents' encouragement, I have a feeling she could progress quite quickly.
@@LittleDreamer1412 Her parents left a comment and apparently she's been watching TwoSet for years so learned a lot about the violin just watching their videos. But that's just theory, even if you know what the proper posture and bow hold are, doing it in real life is another story. She did really well for a first time !

This is probably just a coincidence but based on her name Kotomi's family might be originally from Japan and the way Brett casually refers to himself as her sensei just shows how much in tune he is with people. And props to whover thought of the chairs, children do enjoy adults people talking to them on the same eye level!

These girls did such a good job I was really thinking they were playing a prank and we’re gonna bust out a full concerto at the end to reveal it. Incredible for first time players.
i always love Brett in teacher mode, he is just so good at explaining things and projecting a calm and relaxing aura, i wish i could have him as a teacher too!!
Whenever I was first learning violin a year ago , i was immediately taught how to use our bow and we played with it which I find quite interesting because commonly I see people not learn that until later
The frog is called frog because in the early days of the bows it looked like a frog. And because you now probably look confused I have to clarify that by "frog" I mean the triangular structure on the sole of the horse hoof.
If you have devastatingly short pinkies like me, a good bow hold is hard. I can't even put the foot joint on a flute properly or my pinky can't reach the key. I was showing off my bow hold to my violin friends and they all chided me about my pinky. I told them "but it can't reach". And yet I am a proud member of the bassoon gang because you need thumbs to play bassoon.
I personally don’t play the violin but i understand it is a difficult instrument, but how the 2 girls adapted to playing so easily (from the clips shown) was crazy in my opinion!
Brett and Eddie! Y’all NEED to do an a teen version and an adult version!! I will volunteer for the teen section in a SPLIT SECOND!!!! And I’m qualified lol I know nothing other than what I’ve learned from you two!! Please! It will help you with views… And you all who see this who are not Brett or Eddy, LIKE THIS COMMENT so that they see it and it happens!!
Any chance you could do the same things with some talented 60-year olds please. Not as a competition with the kids, just to disprove the fact that you’re never too old to get somewhere with a difficult instrument. I feel like anyone who starts later than 16 gets written off, which can’t be right. 🎻
I once tried violin when I’m young, these aren’t the things I learned in my first lesson……. I was told to just play when my posture is wrong and I lost interest immediately after the first lesson Brett and Eddy knowssss what they need to teach on the first lesson and how to make children feel fun on their first lesson, and I feel the children are affect by the passion from them, great start for them and I wish them luck!!

brett and eddy being amazing people and teaching future generations of violin players!
You guys did adults & teens, when will u teach the Seniors (50+)?😅
You know what ? That is a VERY good idea, I would love to see that. It would really show that it's never too late to start. 😊
Yeah, why not? Practice does not have an age limit.
Of course you can! Instruments are for everyone!
Really impressive! I never could guess that these two girls were complete beginners if the start of the video and the title didn't mention that!
Both guys are such wonderful, natural teachers. Such a heartwarming video.
This video is just so wholesome all around. Thanks Brett and Eddy for all you do for music education and showing people that classical music isn't that hard to understand!
These girls did such a good job I was really thinking they were playing a prank and we’re gonna bust out a full concerto at the end to reveal it. Incredible for first time players.
My heart is so full...
You just see Brett backing away slowly when they're performing 😂
"How are you feeling?"
"Twoset academy"
A child of wisdom
i always love Brett in teacher mode, he is just so good at explaining things and projecting a calm and relaxing aura, i wish i could have him as a teacher too!!
The girls would properly didn't know how much they are lucky to teach by two set !!
Whenever I was first learning violin a year ago , i was immediately taught how to use our bow and we played with it which I find quite interesting because commonly I see people not learn that until later
Its like these girls don't know how all of us would dream to be taught by Brett and Eddy
Okay Bretts kid is a natural right!? Such nice tone and posture - with the bow aswell - straight off the bat !
The frog is called frog because in the early days of the bows it looked like a frog. And because you now probably look confused I have to clarify that by "frog" I mean the triangular structure on the sole of the horse hoof.
..and now we must go down the rabbit-hole of wondering why parts of the horses hoof is called a frog
Brett is such a natural with kids! Not an easy task. I'm scared of them myself haha
Why are both the kids so natural at violin?!?! The one with Brett had **perfect** posture, and the one with Eddy had a great sense of pitch.
You two make great teachers! Those kids looked like they had fun! Thank you for such a wholesome video. TwoSet Academy!!
They are both better than me on the first day on the violin at 30 yo, but Kotomi is ready for half of the Suzuki book 1 though!
that both of them were able to do a cannon at the end of the first lesson is unbelievable! really amazing..
Brett and Eddy are both excellent teachers!
I need to hire you guys 🥲🥲 saving up to buy a violin thanks to you guys I can’t wait to annoy my parents with the horrendous screeching that’s to come
Brett and Eddie! Y’all NEED to do an a teen version and an adult version!! I will volunteer for the teen section in a SPLIT SECOND!!!! And I’m qualified lol I know nothing other than what I’ve learned from you two!! Please! It will help you with views…
And you all who see this who are not Brett or Eddy, LIKE THIS COMMENT so that they see it and it happens!!
I was told to just play when my posture is wrong and I lost interest immediately after the first lesson
Brett and Eddy knowssss what they need to teach on the first lesson and how to make children feel fun on their first lesson, and I feel the children are affect by the passion from them, great start for them and I wish them luck!!
