As a concert flutist in 7th grade, first of all, I’m happy to see another flutist. Second, it’s my second year of band, and I’m gonna join jazz band next year still as a flute. And lastly, this is a very funny video, and I appreciate the funny flute content!
I will never impress anyone with my playing but that's not my goal... I JUST ABSOLUTELY LOVE PLAYING!!! Thank you for sharing your magnificent talent which I thoroughly appreciate!!!
"Beginner" vs "Professional" flute. I started on a student rental at 10 years old in school. My dad bought me a nicer (Armstrong Emeritus 21 solid silver) student flute when I reached hight school because I didn't think I could play an open hole flute. I quit playing in school when I was 16 and only played for my own pleasure and sometimes an obligato when asked by someone. When I was 30, I had an accident that severed ligaments, nerves, and the radial artery in my left hand. After 6 months of extensive physical therapy, I had about 95% use of my hand. I could no longer play the guitar because the nerves actually help press the fingers on the strings against the frets and I couldn't do it. What I could do is push the keys of my flute down, but since I have no feeling in three of my fingers on that hand, I cannot feel the open holes. I am so grateful I kept my student flute and can still play. I not only play for my own pleasure, but in a wonderful community band (Clearfield, Utah). I am 68 years old. I enjoy your content very much and am in awe of your talent and ability. Thank you for sharing.
I agree, the flute is one instrument that takes much air to make sound. When I was in high school I played the French Horn. We had a competition on which instrument could play a note the longest. The Oboe and then the French Horn played the longest in our symphonic band. One of my sisters played the Flute, and another played the Clarinet. I was proud that I could played a note for almost 2 minutes.
Hi Jasmine! You should check out the video where Lizzo plays an historic glass flute at the Library of Congress. Clearly she's a classically trained flutist, knows her stuff on it, and just chose a different path.
I must know as someone who has now been studying piano / music for only 2 years, i would say a lot of Asian players, but Specfically in south Korea are just on another level , and the K dramas harmony ballads are so good, with Rich Extensions and jazz influence, and also love bossa nova, Whats with South Korea that Classical music/ music in general is so crazy enriched compared to the states? Love this video I love hearing the Insurments that do lines and melody like sax/trumpet / flute since that's what's practiced the most, its so creative, what Players come up with.
Grade school flute balancing contests, I’d all but forgotten about those. I picked up the piccolo ASAP because nobody else wanted to and promptly fell in love with it; I think the piccolo equivalent of flute balancing was everybody trying to get me to tuck it behind my ear like a pencil. I was my band’s piccolist through college by default, everybody else was just relieved that somebody was doing it voluntarily. Got loaned to the orchestra and volunteered for pit orchestra on the side and loved every moment. I also resurrected the piccolo rank in my high school marching band, which had been dead for a long time. The one time everybody else was happy to play them because the alternative was alto sax… and I was the only one who had experience with reeds. (I also picked up the bass clarinet around the same time as the piccolo, because nobody wanted to play that, either.) This was a delightful video. I have no idea how the algorithm suddenly plunged me into music content but I’m glad it did.
8:22 the vid was popular because she was playing a popular song that kinda makes u feel like a main character 😅😅 and also her playing was js great in general
The flutes are Piccolo, G Treble, Concert flute, Alto flute, Bass flute, contrabass, subcontra bass. Check out Northern Ireland flute bands and you will see all these flutes
my band hall had like fancy chairs. i was the only one that could stand my flute on it, because there was only one specific spot you could stand it and the keys had to be a certain way too. my band director often caught me doing this and made a competition at the end of the year with it lol
This is so amusing to me as a euphonium player/trombonist. I want to get a degree in music education when I finish high school, and this is pretty helpful.
Some people think playing a flute is one of the easiest instruments but it’s really a complicated instrument, depends on how u play it with the different techniques
To your comment on the flight of the bumble bee girl yes she was cheating, and that's kind of her whole point the more notes you play, the harder it sounds but the more notes your are supposed to play the easier it is to get away with not playing it correctly.
i love your videos so much!! ❤i am a flutist and i started playing this year at school and i think your videos are insperational and you inspired me to play the flute ❤❤❤
I played the fluit in school our teacher would do the pencil trick. He said your fringers arent suppose to come off the keys. So he would lay a pencil on our fingers and if we would lift the pencil at all he would make us run the same piece 10 times with out moving our fingers off the keys. Some fluits rely on that because they have holes in the keys.
This was great! Really enjoyed watching. I really think you should try out some tutorials if you ever have time in the future. Maybe some "how to improve your tone" or "articulation 101". Of course this is only a suggestion! Keep fluting :)
I watched all of this flute tiktoks because when I wanted it so much all I had that was so near to have a flute was go on a music shop to see them or watch tiktoks about it🤣🤣🥲🥲
Wow, Jasmine you really rock, I'm not into classical, actually, I'm hooked on Prog rock, Jazz... I love Spain by Chick Corea done by the late Joe Farrell, Jethro Tull's Bouree and some lots of rock flutes types, Canned Heat's intro on Going Out of the Country, and some weird flutes by Focus band especially Hocus Pocus tune, but this is my first time to watch this kind of instrument, wow that's very very nice, I think I have some cassette tapes by Hubert Laws during the fusion years, late 70's to 80's. Wow, I will not forget your name and how you demonstrate that very very difficult musical instrument, at this very moment count me in as your fan, and you are so beautiful too, I hope you recommend some great flute music, I also wish you can play Spain and Bouree by Ian Anderson's version, thanks a lot, you made my day !!!!
When I started flute I could get a sound out of it from day one. Because I had done recorder before I could also get the right notes because the fingering on the flute is so similar to the treble recorder. My teacher asked me how many years had I been playing it and I replied what do you mean? I only got given it a week ago.
My favorite classical flautist is Robert K Dick. I learned circular breathing from him. But he also did Multitimbral playing. I saw him live once years ago and he did a paganini Violin solo complete with double stops. His control of the overtones on the flute is out of this world. I am more Jazz and Free Improv oriented player but he was truly was a virtuoso especially with extended technique. the open hole/closed hole cracked me up. I graduated to the open hole while still a beginner because I wanted to play blues and jazz and needed to bend the notes! It was a pain learning to play the open holes but SO worth it!!

Dear you are amazing! I loved your video! Thank you for letting me freestyle with you 😁
Girl you were so goooodd
you were great! i loved it
Love that she was genuinely surprised to be on TikTok. There's obviously a reason why she is world renowned.
did she just hit a beat while playing the flute wtf that was so sick
ikr! that beatbox was sick
Check out Greg Patillo if you want to see the godfather of flute beatboxing
The piece Lizzo played is called Carnival of Venice, its a beautiful piece I played last year, I would 100% recommend
Which measure is she starting from? I found the sheet music but can't find the passage
I found it! It's measure 166
She's like a very young sweet grandma that everyone deserves ❤

yoooo the beatbox flute was so cool!! my little sister plays the flute and I have to show her that :)

I’m so happy that you can keep playing and doing what you enjoy!
happy you can still play Angie
Armstrong was my first student flute, too. :) They don't make them anymore. Terrible to hear about your accident... but great that you can still play!

Kind, positive vibe, not laughing too loud, very punctual. Thank you...
Now, are there some people that just can't circular breathe? Like I know the technique of floating on my back, but I can't float. Lol
Yea if you have sinusitis and your damn nose is always blocked.
@@crescentkwsame 😅
Circular breathing is more difficult on flute than on other woodwind instruments, because there's no resistance.
@@rloomis3interesting
How the hell do u breath in while blowing the flute? Black magic I say.
I used to play the flute. At one school concert, I played the bass flute - but ours looked like the Alto but longer - it was a challenge but good fun.
as a flutist who’s been playing almost a year now, i loved watching this!
Hi Jasmine!!! I recently discovered you and you are a joy to watch and listen to❤❤❤ love from Australia!!🇦🇺

lovely tone to the voice and gesture of genuinely listening to others and making kind comments 🥰
