Who's come here after LTE3 reunion just confirmed ?
Yep! I can already tell that this next one is gonna be just as amazing as the first two!
Hello there 👋
Me :)
hahaha
That short LTE3 trailer is sooo intense. Can't wait to be amazed again by these genius.
I've never seen so many people get so excited over a baby crying.
Jajajjajja is true. I love this marterpiece
You sir won the internet
You should check the thin ice from pink floyd
lol.. well. im high and i found out im going to be a father so.. nice trip! haha.. much love! that moment when laugh and cry its the same.
@@Tiziano182 congrats! Man, I hope you’re coping with the fear. I promise it gets less terrifying. You’ll do well.
One of the greatest Rock/Metal instrumental songs in history.
Damn straight
😚
Together with the Instrumedley :) ua-cam.com/video/umJ3fxk7qD8/v-deo.html
I thought I was a musician. Now I'd be happy to carry their equipment for them
HAHA cute , good one.
I give back what God gave me, but He certainly didn't give me what THESE guys have! :D
Swordfight9800
You must study Law and Medicine at Harvard first and hold a PhD Degree to be able to audition for their bag carrier position
I'm NOT a musician. So I'll carry your equipment then - that way I get a chance to get close to LTE
They sound better live than anything ever recorded….❤️
2020 and still here watching these guys too.
Edgar Mendoza here with ya! Midnight with my headphones. Freaking amazing!
2020 and forever
and why not??lol
Pettrucci and Rudess should ditch that other band and do THIS full time
i'm watching while my pregnant gf is watching vaginal birth videos on her phone. hahaha. i guess we all have our own way of preparing.
Still blows my mind to this day the amount of mental and physical endurance it took to perform this.
Yet they made it look effortless!!!
You know I came to realize it also a way to honor the main theme of the song. Thanks for your observation
Its impressive what musicians who actually love music can do.
And writing it!
And during a concert 2:30 hours long!
I think everything from 1:53 to 4:44 is one of the best phrases in prog-metal history. Everything, the chords, the notes, the solos, the drum fills. Each and every part of this section is absolutely everything great about prog-metal, in 2-3 mins.
Indeed, and the first few minutes of that timespan would not be out of character on Marillion's Misplaced Childhood album.
It makes me cry, it's so emotional.
Best bit of music ever written.
I just can't stop from turning to 1:53 just listen to this section again and again and again. I agree with everything you said about that part. can't just express how it makes me feel but I am so addicted to that part :)
Просто...божественно...🤣
This is how universes are started
???
Still be watching this in 2034.. who else?
I come here once in a while to remind myself what a great drummer mike portnoy is
This is just a jam session with one of the best guitarists, one of the best keyboardists, one of the best drummers and one of the best bassists.
I couldn’t agree more ! I love that bass guitar It looks like it has 10 or 12 strings.
@@robertstajic1486 It's called a Chapman Stick.
The most insane thing is that, unlikely a jam session, they can perfectly recreate this time and time again. Just remembering one of these songs would be a hand full for most :x Let alone a set list xD
@@dabeste6163 Chapped lips stick actually.
Yes, this is quite unique.
Not sure what is more legendary, Tony Levins bass playing or his mustache.
too bad he made mistake at 09:50
@@natalnapitupulu8427 I don't think it's a mistake though
He's a legendary alien
His mustache are playing the bass through his hands actually
@@natalnapitupulu8427 When he turned to Jordan, his mustache looked more amaizing than normal
Also still listening in 2020! There's just something about Mike Portnoy on drums -- so organic, so fluid, so perfect -- kinda like John Petrucci on guitar! There's more brains on this stage than in some small countries!
2023
Small?
I'll be listening to this in 2050 for sure
LITERALLY one of the best performances of the 21st Century!
Still watching this in 2021. Who else to? Thats dream theater army 🤟🏽
Since 1999 and still rocking!
Musical fads come and go, styles drift in and out of style, but prog does seem to endure, does it not? Music for thinking people! Music is math you can hear.
2024...
There’s way so much virtuosity in a single stage. Mike, John, Tony and Jordan are true masters of their instruments. What a great piece.
The amount of skill to play this song in one take is unreal, so happy they did LTE3
Rudess is only guy who can look cool playing a keytar ;)
I dunno Diego Tejada from Haken rocks it on 1985...
I thought only Herbie Hancock held that distinction. Well, maybe Edgar Winter, but most folks are too young to remember Edgar Winter :P
He looks like Tech9ne
I totally dig this progressive metal. Don't see too many musicians use a Chapman Stick to play this type of music. These guys are the best in their field!!!
Still watching this in 2019. Who else?
Andrei K : Me… I never ever left
Me too
so am I
Yep! For the first time...
MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The best lead tone petrucci has ever had i think, just mindblowing!
I agree. I don't like his more recent tones. And I think he'd sound better switching to Duncans over DiMarzios. He was using a Crunch Lab at this show. The best of the Petrucci pickups.
Mike's drumming Is so powerful & musical..... One of the best drummers!!!!
Best Labrie perfomance eva.
Renan Câmara lol
Don't forget the usual high standard of the lyrics by Myung.
@@u.v.s.5583 haha

Ardylius Gurusinga It's not here in the live version. It's the very last 10 seconds of the studio version
nice song names lol
petrucci and portnoy will always be best together
Sampe ini lagu speednya gila gitarnya!!!
This is definitely one of my all-time favourite progressive pieces of music.
I want this playing in loop on my gravestone
Please have this at the Super Bowl half time show next year! People can bet the over under of how many time signature changes they will have!! 😎
When Bald And Long-Haired Unite
hair to the right, no-hair to the left!
just like in politics
lol
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
there is no in-between
Mike Portnoy... what a legend...
My favorite passage of music ever is in this song. John just oozes soul in that part. Around 3:00-4:30
yes...
And 7:25 to 7:50
Fuck yeah!
When Jordan breaks away from the keyboard island and starts touring the stage with the keytar! Epic moment.
7:28 guitar and keyboard synchronization just...wow
that's why Rudess entered dream theater. watch again.
Harmonies
Even the bends are on point.
Just because a song is musically simple, doesn't mean it's bad.
Just because a song is musically complex, doesn't mean it's bad.
Doesn't mean it's good either, though.
Complex? christ I just solved string theory listening to this.
Portnoy is amazing
Anyone still watching amidst of pandemic? Stay safe everyone.
Fortunately we don’t have much of a pandemic in Germany, but i‘m listening to this masterpiece anyways. 😂
Stay safe!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
That guitar lick at 3:00 is easily one of the best prog-metal moments. It's in 7/8, but it's melodic, emotional and captures everything that genre is truly capable of (in the middle of all the madness in the rest of the song)
this is like...the most epic, awesome, mind blowing and ridiculous song ever.
MIKE PORTNOY HAS GOD LIKE HANDS!!! MAGICAL!!!
For a heavy duty drummer he has a really light touch :D
That’s
What
She
Said
Now I realize that Mike Portnoy is the soul of DT
He really was.
True...
I can listen to again and again this. It`s simply a masterpiece !
the power of beards is strong in these 4, especially in Tony
I was at this show in Downey. What an EPIC evening!
Petrucci's solo on 1:42 almost made me cried.
Good old days when Portnoy and Petrucci were bros. I hope someday they will play together once more.
they play don't worry
sorry but derek sh. and billy sh. are his bros. now. haha!
Que Dios te oiga hermano.
Me too.
no now ONLY KOTZEN . And Mike won!
This is probably the best instrumental music of all time...
+Gustavo Maehara Such a fantastic piece of music!
No probably about it...
Best ever
Gustavo Maehara I agree. How anyone can even compose such complexity is beyond me.
You do realize you’re including Bach, Mozart, Stravinsky, John Coltrane, and you know, most of the western musical cannon. It IS the best instrumental metal no doubt tho.
How do these guys remember all this stuff. Thats what really gets me.
No idea how the rest of em do it but Rudess has an iPad with sheet music attached to his rotating keyboard rig. Doesn't make his stuff any less impressive tho!
Just pure perfection of instruments coexistence. Cannot get enough of this piece of art!
…best of an era!
+Rodrigo Millan It will be a while until something this epic comes along again.
…never lose hope…I expect them to reunite…you know, musicians when they get old, tend to get nostalgic...
Rodrigo Millan Well i hope they get nostalgic soon haha
I must admit that I came here 6 times past 2 weeks to listen this over..
Guilty 🙋♀️
Aye. Still watching. That was the best 17:52 minutes I've spent today. Tony Levin is the element that ties it all together. Portnoy impresses.
Never heard so many people applaud at the sound of a crying baby
^this sums up the entire song and reaction
Tony Levin rules in this
That's a 12-string Chapman Stick. Levin is one of the guys that made the instrument mainstream.
well he made obvious mistake at 09:50
The audio alone sends chills down my spine - watching it live makes my jaw drop and my eyes water. What an amazing piece.
Kids and incoming generations: THIS IS MUSIC.
Mr Levin & Mr. Rudess are a great Experiment!
Mike's played drums on Petrucci's upcoming solo album. They finally play together after 10 years
That was awesome, A dream theater reunion would be nice but that might be a stretch.
And Liquid Tension Experiment 3 comes out soon.
Really? That bears investigating! :D
I think the amazing thing about the LTE3 is that they will have more than 2 weeks to write it .
One of the best drum performances ever. Portnoy was on fire. Crazy insane good
listen this video again when my country lockdown, i have a lot of time guys
listen this video and watch this song .. lol
Greatest guitarist ever!!! I know there are plenty of greats but Petrucci is a different breed!!!
Nope Guthrie Govan is far better.
Its 2013 now and they are still my favourite band.
Its 2014 now and they are STILL my favourite band ;)
Louis Salas
i dont give a fuck what year it is. they'll ALWAYS be my favorite band
AngryLlamaAttack amen!

One of the GREATEST Guitarists that ever picked up a Guitar ! Bravissimo !!
I grow up with the band & i go to older with the band 4ever till im die ❤
Why am I finding you so late ...such AWESOMENESS..love it , love it , LOVE IT ...
every song from LTE and Dream Theater has always just been an entire experience and almost an escape from reality. My mind transports any time I hear a song by them.. I am in awe at the time changes and just the overall quality. I hope both bands go on to be remembered for their greatness honestly. So glad I finally got some good headphones to listen to them on, but I will always remember being 14 and jamming out with some Skullcandy earbuds in my room listening to them while I spent hours drawing and chilling out. They're inspirational.
Instrumental music doesn't get any better than this.
Whoever Uploaded this is the kindest Person on earth
There is absolutely no performance at all that can fully demonstrate the maximum potential of virtuosos like this song
As much as I love progressive metal classical music so far has the most virtuosic music.
can you give me some examples?
the paganini caprices, many piano works by Liszt, Rachmaninoffs piano concertos... just to name a few
one really great and really, really difficult piano piece is Stravinsky's piano transcription of Petrushka
ok thanks man
This song, still gives me goosebumps after all these years
this is one of my favorite performances of all time. every time i watch it petruccis solos make me tear up because its just so fucking good
It's Amazing what 4 talented musicians can do. It's out of this world what these 4 can do.
Awesome drumming as usual. Incredible musicians to go through all those time signatures and not get lost. Easy to see they do their homework and practice..a lot!!!
Best dream theater vocals ever
hahahah
kkkkkkkk
Still watching this in 2525. Who else?
Still watching in March 2020. The world may end but I will have lived life to the fullest by experiencing LTE and Petrucci.
They should make a video of this song about a father's anxiety for his own child's birth.
it is named "When the water breaks", because while recording, Petrucci's wife went into labor. At 13:14 is the part where he had to leave to be with her.
All true.
In the middle of the recording sessions, Petrucci had to leave the studio when he got word that his pregnant wife had gone into labor. This left the other three band members to carry on recording by themselves. This is how "When the Water Breaks" got its name, for it was the song the band were working on when Petrucci got the news. The song contains a baby sound effect (a "baby soundscape", according to keyboardist Jordan Rudess) to mark the particular section the band had been writing upon Petrucci's departure.
In Petrucci's absence Levin, Rudess and drummer Mike Portnoy recorded dozens of completely improvised jams, many of which would eventually be released on the 2007 album Spontaneous Combustion under the group name Liquid Trio Experiment. As such, "914" is the only song on the album which did not feature Petrucci. Portnoy alluded to the jams in the liner notes, stating that "if you dig this, there is A LOT more where it came from..."
When Petrucci returned to the studio in November, he wrote and recorded guitar parts for two of these improvisations: "Chewbacca" and "Liquid Dreams". For "Chewbacca" in particular, he took the time to learn several of Rudess's improvised melodies and doubled them on guitar, which in Portnoy's words "(gave) the illusion of written composition".
+Dean Hibler Thanks a lot for this information.
Best prog instrumental band :)
You need listen OSI
Indeed
Wow! All In One! Timing, Dynamics...Everything!
Thanks for the recommendation You Tube Algo RYTHYM thing. Lovin it.
Saudades do PORTNOY: Virtude, técnica, genialidade e carisma sem igual. Espero vê-lo no DT novamente!
I have been watching this performance!
Do you know it's 2024 now!
One of the best live performances in history without a doubt
there should be a prequel to this song called "When the Condom Breaks"
Ben Curell or the wind lol
hahahahhahaha
Ben Curell well...when the levee breaks kind of makes sense, lol.
Justin Nizza nice one
Ben Curell
Lmao! Tasteless, perhaps, but very clever!
The best instrumental song ever
It can't be, but honestly it is a very mindblowingly great piece!
First minute of druming is my favourite. I love this hi-hat's sound...
Got LT CD in 98. Never gets old...Fantastic stuff watching those virtuosi....
LTE: Half Hair, Half No Hair
LTE 3 CONFIRMED!!! December 2020 :D
2021
Liquid Tension Experiment Genius !
2021 and still here watching these guys too.
From the perspective of a bass player since 66, I tell ya all, the drummer takes the show.
Mike Portnoy is the standard by which most drummers judge themselves unworthy. Myself included.
From drummer perspective, Portnoy might not have the most advance technique out there, but his musicality alone is set him apart from others. He can make the most basic groove to be catchy as hell in the right time and the right place. Plus he knew what a good drum sounds like so combine both you'll get the most satisfying tune.
I was in a really grumpy bad mood... I then listened to this song... I'm now completely chilled, happy and in a fantastic mood! Thank you LTE!!
10:30 that moment where John Petrucci starts really enjoying his time on stage 🥰
agreed
This is what humans call masterpiece. Years will pass and still this song will catch all of us.
I have been listening to this song for about 12 years and it still sends me chills down the spine specially that 1:50 part
2:50- 4:44 In my opinion is one of the most beautiful solos that Petrucci ever created.
How in the world do they remember everything?
HDaviator Muscle Memory
Good question.
Jordan has the music written out in front of him, as far as the rest of them it's freakin' amazing that they're able to remember all those notes lol.
HDaviator hi tim
They practice full time.
This was... INCREDIBLE
Incredible musicianship I will never grow tired of.
Still watching this in 2018. Who else?
me everyday, no joke
yeah, still not enough... best song from LTE definitely
Kal El yeah like thrice a week
Always
Even me dude. We want a LTE3
