I really like the way the motion controls/right stick are used in combat. I recall Suda comparing this style of combat to using an old typewriter, where you continuously click to type and then do the big motion to go on to the next paragraph. I have to say, I couldn't agree more, i personally think the one in NMH is just the right amount of motion controls that can be sprinkled on to an already solid combat system.
I think the motion controls are preferred for the series. However for 3 specifically I think buttons are better since there are more actions and motion can be overwhelming coupled with the death kills have different timing and don't have the same satisfaction in the first 2 game. But motion is better for 1 and 2 definitely.
I mean, it was safe to assume the game didn't play like Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword, since the first one (which was designed for the wiimote in mind) only used the motion controls to change attack height in normal auto attacks.
thats what im saying bro like that dont look fun you gotta really feel it., you gotta shake that thing like your fam bouta be home any second and you trynna get a nut out quickly, smh I cant even finish this damned video
Fun Fact: The game actually knows when you are using a joy con grip when using the joy cons to play. What happens when you are using the grip you aren't moving your hands that much which means you are sitting still so it switches to the button controls even though they are technically separated. I tried to remain still with the joy cons not in the grip and sure enough it switches to button controls. TLDR: If you are moving slightly a lot you get motion controls from the joy cons and if you sit still you get button controls
I really love the Motion Controls of No More Heroes and for me this is the only way to play the game. I love NMH on Wii and even in the PS3 I play with the Move Controllers.
1 and 2 I really prefer motion controls. High and low attacks change by moving the wiimote up and down feels really natural and adds to the experience. Because of the way motion was integrated into the entire combat experience, it was really elevated and felt right for those two games. But in 3 the only motion controls are finishing moves, recharging and spinnning. None is really that engaging on their own, and I end up feeling pretty much the same if I use motion or not. I'm finding myself playing with the pro controller simply because the joycons are too small and have nothing to grip onto. If I could play the game with an actual wiimote and the old controls scheme, that's probably how I would play.
like look how you suplex jus a lil nudge nah bruh you got to stand up and really fling those things up or you not gonna feel the juice, you not gonna feel the POWER, YOU HAVE TO REALLY FEEL IT
i feel like the only good with about motion controll is, that you can shake the joycon faster than moving the r stick up and down for recharge. So i guess for recharging motion is better than button. But even thou i never really used my joycons for some reason my joycons got drift... so no way in hell do i play with joycons that drift. So in the end i played with my pro controller.
Suplexing a fool without the motion controls just feels inferior. The rest of the motion control elements are whatever, but the grappling stuff is just so much better.
Gyro aiming should be a standard option for games. Ever since I played splatoon on the Wii U I’ve not wanted to play any other way. Maybe if Xbox could add the ability to their premium $200 controller developers might be incentivized to implement gyro aiming into their games.
I kinda ranted a little bit but I can’t fathom how this feature hasn’t become a standard if horizon zero dawn had the bow mechanics of BotW it would be so much more enjoyable
It's a very easy fix. The thin cardboard or two layers of thin cardboard will fix this (just have to unscrew the casing of the joycon). Had to do it for my daughter's joycons recently. Much easier than replacing the joystick, which I have done several times.
Its almost like suda ran out of budget trying to once again create a jank open world he clearly can't afford. Instead of spending more resources polishing gameplay of his various mini games.

I'm playing with Motion controls since I have been a long time fan of NMH.
I did several runs of NMH2 with the pro controller on wii but it's like something is not right lol

Hmm, why do you think that they don't have the same satisfaction like in the first 2 games?

Motion controls! It’s how the series started. Feels wrong to play no more heroes any other way.
Ur shaking the joy con wrong, you must not have had a fun teenagehood

Never repaired my joycons, refuse to buy another pair from nintendo so, I would go with button controls
i like to slice the air and i even add sound effects with my mouth
you dont put enough energy in your slices, you gotta swing that thang like a whole ass sword to really feel it
like look how you suplex jus a lil nudge nah bruh you got to stand up and really fling those things up or you not gonna feel the juice, you not gonna feel the POWER, YOU HAVE TO REALLY FEEL IT
I have to ask: The cellphone feature that makes the audio call come from the controller making you pick it up still in NMH 3?
Sadly not, as the joy cons don't have a microphone

i played with motion controls, it kept me more engaged

This is completely off-topic but I still gotta agree with you on that

Toilet plunging mini games looks like he doing something else...
hehe
In NMH1 on Switch you can shake the pro controller to charge the beam katana. Perhaps it's the same here?
Sadly not
I have a switch lite and joycons and the motion controls don’t register , does anyone have the same problem
Feels tacked on. I prefer button control, mainly for the comfort of gamepad grips.
i would love to play with motion controls but first my joycons need to function without drifting all over the place
How do i turn motion controls off
i wish i could use like an quest 2 controller to play on pc
I use controller because my joycons have drift.

@@richparkinson9647 I think Nintendo should get sued via a class action suit but thats probably not gonna happen.
Motion controls in moderation for me but prefer to have a choice
I just like to use my pro controller with all my games
Awesome game!!
Buttons overall
I went with the hardest difficulty, so I chose buttons lol.
I don’t have hands. Can I still play this or no?
Are you telling me you’ve been playing games with your feet? If you can then yes
How are you holding that dog

nah this is everything I wanted from nmh3, if it had no jank it would not be no more heros, and I disliked nmh2 because it had no open world
I can't speak for a game haven't played, but I general I despise Motion Controls.
skyward sword
Motion controls are never better.
