One nit-pick on NMH1: K-Entertainments music when you walk in to search for an assassination gig isn’t that same atmospheric, smooth song it played on the Wii and PS3 version. Now it’s this super energetic, funky music that kinda doesn’t fit the vibe of that place. I have no clue why they moved around background songs. I get that Heavenly Star is gone but I think Heroes Paradise handled the issue just fine. Like I said though, a huge nitpick. Not an actual problem. I just liked that track K Entertainment used to have.
@@Ghenry That’s hilarious. Glad to know someone specifically found my comment and felt compelled to fix it. Either that or someone out there agrees with me. That’s awesome to hear though!
I actually experienced a softlock in NMH on Switch: for some reason, the k-Entertainment assasination gig 15 doesn't start. I get out of the building, minimap is flashing with the objective but I don't get the usual message on screen telling me to reach the target location, so Travis just stands outside of K-Entertainment without being able to move.

@@ct2651 I doubt there is any contract for exclusivity. A little off topic but something I was reminded of with both of these games just getting ported. The first No More Heroes holds a special place in my heart not just for how much I love the game itself, but for when I played it too. NMH was the last game I played and beat the summer before I started college last year, so I've always seen it as a transition from one chapter of my life to the next. A sort of bittersweet goodbye to simpler times before taking my first steps into adulthood. I ended up finally getting to play NMH 2 a few months ago along with Travis Strikes Again after watching your videos since I was initially one of those people that just wrote it off as NMH 3 would be coming out soon. New subscriber and have been watching your no more heroes reviews, I fell in love for the games despite never having a Nintendo and being a PlayStation player all my life, these ports alone are making me consider buying a switch... at least when more financially stable :P thank you so much for your in depth reviews and both you and Suda51 got a new fan
Thank you for all the Suda content man. Really appreciate it. Oh, and NMH2 has an issue in the bj5 shmup minigame. You can't see the cursor when entering a name for high scores.
Pretty good assessment of the ports. I didn't notice the coconut minigame's issue but that's because I skipped it and most of the other side jobs I'm NMH2. I'm really happy that more people can experience my favorite series. I'll even direct newcomers to this video.
@Brendan Milburn It's a wildly different version and I enjoy demakes and whatnot. Regardless of it's quality, it's still something I would like to see come to a modern console.
I was originally interested with NMH3 because of the trailer so when they announced the remaster last week, it was a no brainer for me to buy the first 2. I am really enjoying it so far. Challenging and tedious at times but it's loads of fun.
I just picked up the first game a few days ago and I am loving it so far! I can’t believe I never played this back when I had a Wii! But I’m also glad I picked it up now as it seems like it may be the best version of the game! Can’t wait to become a huge fan of this series and get even more hyped for the 3rd game
I am not even sure this is possible. I think there are many that would like this proposition but I personally believe that game should stand exactly where it is. I would not mind a sequel or spin-off title, though.
The game crashed once during Shinobu's fight, and I got softlocked (couldn't move Travis, only the camera) after pausing and unpausing fast in Holly Summers' stage. Other than that, I had no issues. And I had 0 issues while playing through 2.
The issues I found with NHM 1 are The opening cutscene's audio doesn't sync up properly. The video is a bit behind. You can tell with the boss countdown Some audio has some crackling. Like the selecting a save file, thunder ryu saying "I know, you want that", and some wrestling tapes just to name a few The batting mini game is terrible with both control schemes. You either sacrifice reliable inputs, or power. Without motion controls, the ball usually hits 1 or 3 guys No button remapping. Yes, you can use the system button remapping, but it's honestly preferable to have in built in the game itself. Just so I don't have to go into the settings for every game I do kinda wish the loading screen logo didn't lag But it's overall a great port, but it still needs some ironing. I already emailed engine software about it. They said that they are taking note of every issue. Whether or not there is a patch is the teams choice
Man, I had never heard of no more heros until this switch port came out and I finished the first game in like 5 days ( a long time for my attention span lol ) and i think I'm obbsessed now. I was so confused as to why i had never even heard of this game before because i truly found it to be so charming and fun to play, I'm really looking foward to the 3rd game although i havnt even finshed the second or travis strikes again.
Well even as a costume, Travis is still cool to be in Smash. If he was his own fleshed out character, along with the NMH 1+2 ports, and NMH3 coming down the line that would've been a grand fuckin' SLAM! But a home run with two of the bases covered is still fantastic!
Finally getting to see what No More Heroes 3 will look like proves that Suda never lost his step. I’d be easy to just do another assassins ranking story but what I always wanted to see was the assassins come together to fight a greater enemy. Travis has come full circle in this twisted Star Wars riff. I’m glad he finally has a good reason to fight.
This franchise looks so fun. The combat and even the bike travel even if it’s not that great but these stupid mini games have got me on the fence. It’s making me lean more towards a definitely not. No thanks! Which is a darn shame…. The switch has limited action games. It’s just too bad..
I finally bought the first game two weeks ago when it was 25% off and I had enough cash. It was well worth the wait, especially since I’m now old enough to appreciate what makes games good. 1 9/10 playthroughs later, and all I have left to do is beat Henry. I’m on Bitter, btw. Edit: beat him about 4 hours ago
I'm the type that hates TSA because it's been 11 years since a proper NMH but I agree with you at the end that I'm even more hyped now because it's been 11 years and TSA's existence which I disdain makes me even more hyped for a proper NMH3
I've always wanted to play these games, got the first one on Wii earlier in the year but my Wii (and the Wii remote) is the same one from 2007 and shared with the family so it's on the cusp of falling to pieces, so these ports are a dream come true. Finished NMH1 the other day and absolutely loved it, so once I have the cash I'm going to have a blast with the sequel (and I should probably try out Travis Strikes Again too). Can't wait for 2021!
I got both of these games when they came out on Switch, but only recently started playing them. I have to say, they're really good! I've beaten the first one, and I'm close to finishing the second, but the final boss is a pain in the ass. I also want to add, in terms of glitches and bugs, I haven't had a problem other than the second game crashing during one of the boss fights.
As a kid I love the second a little bit more preferring the game and like seeing Travis take things more serious but after being able to play it again but older and experiencing videos like yours, which already made me release the first one was better, made No More Heroes 1 the definitive best game of the two. the story and characters of 1 is hands down far superior in every way while 2 is just a lot more edgy and vulgar. While the combat for 1 is more strategic (even if just a little) with 2 being button mashy on poor AI sponges. I'm super happy this got ported so I could reexperience both games and come to my own conclusions rather than really only on youtubers! P.S. Travis Strikes Again was still necessary and great game to play, and thinking about the people who would've just wanted a port makes cranky
I don't have a switch so I really hope these get released on PC, PS4/5 and Xbox sometime down the line; I don't mind Heroes Paradise, but I've never played the original NMH1 and I actually really enjoyed NMH2 and these seem like the definitive versions of both of these games.
I played earlier this year NMH1+2 to get ready for NMH3, I played TSA enough last year. I still bought both games on Switch the day they came out. I won't play them now, but as soon as the release date of NM3 is near, I will make sure to play NMH1, 2, and TSA on my Switch.
I became interested in No More Heroes back in 2018 when I remember seeing Suda saying he wanted Travis in Smash. I then looked up the other games and looked at Travis Strikes Again and I was hyped. Even if Travis Strikes Again had a different gameplay style, it still looked like a good game. I'm actually very glad 1 and 2 got ported to the Switch cause, while I still have my Wii, it would've been difficult to find second hand copies. I hope they do a physical release cause I want to get Travis Strikes Again and NMH 3 physical. I'm so hyped for NMH 3
I got to finally play 2 for the first time with this release and even though my negative feelings against the game seem to match most of the community's opinion I'm definetly glad i played it and have it.. I really enjoyed some of the boss matches even though some of the levels can burn in hell and that last boss fight was just unfair.. I don't know how many times I got launched out the window before I got him to the balloon phase. A no more heroes boss should be like the ones in Cuphead, complicated attackpatterns that are 100% avoidable if you can see them coming.
mmmm destroyman theme currently beating the 1st game after putting it on shelf for 3+ month on 5th rank since controller broke (on dolphin) beaten it 3 days from this comment age 20hr playtime mild lmao
The no more heroes franchise is such a amazing saga, too bad i was playing the ps3 version and then i starting to think that this game was garbage and after buying the pc ports i was just *wrong*
15:30 - 15:45 I think you're right. The only Grasshopper games I played years ago were NMH1, NMH2 and Killer7. I played through TSA last year and it made me interested in giving the Kill the Past series a try.
One weird thing about the Switch port is the exclusion of the K-entertainment theme, I understand the Heavenly Star as it is a licensed song but K-Enterntainment should be an original song.
I cannot wait for No More Heroes 3 to drop! I never got to play the originals back then on the Wii cuz I didn’t know anything about No More Heroes until 2 years ago! Now though I have NMH, NMH2, & TSA all on my Switch and I played and beat every single one of them! (Shameless plug but I even recorded a bunch of boss fights of all 3 games on my channel lol!) and now I can’t wait to add NMH3 to my collection and I’m really looking forward to beating NMH3 too!
I thought the last 2 boss fights in the first game felt odd on the Switch. The penultimate one seemed a lot harder, and the last one was way easier than I remember. I'll also say, I got Travis Strikes Again the day it came out. I've always loved these games.
I've beaten both ports multiple times and while I consider them to be the definitive way to experience these games, they both have bugs that need ironing out to for me to consider them absolutely perfect. NMH1 -The baseball minigame seems to be much, much harder than it was on the Wii, it's pretty much impossible to beat with a standard controller, and the joycons are only marginally better at registering hits. -The final Free Fight mission at the bus station seems to be bugged. Can't access it at all. NMH2 -Beam katana effects seem somewhat off. Enemies glow green when you hit them with Blood Berry and glow blue when you hit them with the Camellia Mk 3. The step-in slash will occasionally not have any sound effects or visual of it slashing an enemy. -Picking up enemies off of the ground will have them break out of the animation instead of setting them up for a throw. -In the first section of Ryuji's fight, Nathan's intro voice clip plays. In the second section, Chloe's intro voice clip plays. -After Travis kills Alice, instead of being covered in her blood, he instead has the nosebleed from after killing Skelter Helter. -The background of the Death Match menu flashes white randomly after finishing a boss.
Thanks for the update. I was reluctant in buying it before reviews were out but if it's a WII port with blood intact, I'm willing to invest in a bigger MINI SD card just to get them. Hopefully, I'll beat them before Cyberpunk get released.
I noticed that there was an update for nmh 1 and 2. Fixed some of the bugs. Couldn't help but notice tho, if you're playing nmh 1 and you go the closet in travis' room his glasses disappear lol
Firstly I think Travis Strikes Again was very average. However I am very happy with these ports and it's been great playing through the first two games again (This time in HD 60fps!). I dont understand the hate the second game gets, I actually really like the second game. Anyway I hope decent sales will convince them to also port that tasty Killer7 remaster as well. Killer7 is to me always going to be SUDA's masterpiece.
Something I always find odd about playing NMH2 on Switch is that the Charlie intro scene is scaled down in resolution compared to every other scene in the game (Travis is also wearing his default outfit here no matter what you have on). I head it was supposedly due to the wii version having done something similar due to how much was going on screen, in reference to the whole mech transformation scene.
That joke about people needlessly stretching emulated games. XD It's become so ubiquitous, sometimes even official re-releases allow it. I imagine the developers are just as confused as we are, and merely include it because it seems to be a popular thing.
I have a physical copy of Travis Strikes Again and would love to get these too but they haven't announced a physical copy yet. Hopefully I don't have to wait for Limited Run Games to pick them up.
In the first game me and a friend of mine found two side missions in which the game crashes o freeze: one in killing gig n° 15, the second with the part time job with scorpions. I hope they'll fix it soon!
Picked both up as soon as they were announced. I adore the first game to pieces, and never actually played Desperate Struggle before I sold my Wii. Coming straight out of 1 into 2 gives a bit of whiplash, it felt off, imo. Though I still think it’s an amazing game, NMH1 is by far superior due to the overworld and just a much more endearing style to it. 2 feels very bleak due to how muted the color palette is, I think that’s the point narratively, but it doesn’t sit right with me. The lack of an overworld and the 8-bit mini games instead of actually performing the tasks kinda turned me off of the game. The combat as well feels worse in 2, it doesn’t flow as well as the first. But I digress, I stills adore the series, and look forward to 3, as it’s specifically design for the Switch, I think it will be a lot better. Here’s to hoping they bring back the overworld.
My copy of No More Heroes 2 for the Wii came in the day before the announcements for the ports happened. I didn't think much of it cuz I was going to collect the Wii version sooner or later though

Now, when are we getting a port of dead rising chop till you drop?
@Brendan Milburn But that isn't chop till you drop
@Brendan Milburn It's a wildly different version and I enjoy demakes and whatnot. Regardless of it's quality, it's still something I would like to see come to a modern console.
I was originally interested with NMH3 because of the trailer so when they announced the remaster last week, it was a no brainer for me to buy the first 2. I am really enjoying it so far. Challenging and tedious at times but it's loads of fun.
Couldn't wait for them to be on switch!
I just picked up the first game a few days ago and I am loving it so far! I can’t believe I never played this back when I had a Wii! But I’m also glad I picked it up now as it seems like it may be the best version of the game! Can’t wait to become a huge fan of this series and get even more hyped for the 3rd game
Now if platinum could port madworld on the switch, I could die a happy man
I am not even sure this is possible. I think there are many that would like this proposition but I personally believe that game should stand exactly where it is. I would not mind a sequel or spin-off title, though.
Let's hope SUDA gets all of his games to Switch and other Suda game's not released on Switch.
The game crashed once during Shinobu's fight, and I got softlocked (couldn't move Travis, only the camera) after pausing and unpausing fast in Holly Summers' stage. Other than that, I had no issues. And I had 0 issues while playing through 2.
Eagerly waiting for your no more heroes 3 review
So glad they’re finally releasing the physical releases ✨👏😎
I'm so excited, it's like a dream come true
It’s such a beautiful day sir
The issues I found with NHM 1 are
The opening cutscene's audio doesn't sync up properly. The video is a bit behind. You can tell with the boss countdown
Some audio has some crackling. Like the selecting a save file, thunder ryu saying "I know, you want that", and some wrestling tapes just to name a few
The batting mini game is terrible with both control schemes. You either sacrifice reliable inputs, or power. Without motion controls, the ball usually hits 1 or 3 guys
No button remapping. Yes, you can use the system button remapping, but it's honestly preferable to have in built in the game itself. Just so I don't have to go into the settings for every game
I do kinda wish the loading screen logo didn't lag
But it's overall a great port, but it still needs some ironing. I already emailed engine software about it. They said that they are taking note of every issue. Whether or not there is a patch is the teams choice
Hey now I at least bought NMH 1. I'll get NMH 2 with my next check
I really wish they released killer7 for the wii, also a mario golf game would have been nice
14:50 THIS STILL HURTS, DAMN
Picked up nmh1 thinking it would be alright...
I now own nmh2, travis strikes again with all DLC, and soon, no more heroes 3.
Stop needlessly hating a game because it's different. You're depriving yourself of a unique experience by a creator you already claim to appreciate.
So this is where the comment lies. 🤔
Still tho, why have such a sour attitude for Travis Strikes Again?
@@Ghenry I guess disdain is too harsh😅I played it and it wasn't for me which is why I was let down by Suda, either way I'm not bashing him
@@StarForce99 because I'm immature and have been waiting 11 years to swing my Wii remote like a damn fool again
@@eggnokio LOL the Wii has been long dead 😅
ok, its time to get a switch
It's been time.😉
I love those kinds of beginnings
I've always wanted to play these games, got the first one on Wii earlier in the year but my Wii (and the Wii remote) is the same one from 2007 and shared with the family so it's on the cusp of falling to pieces, so these ports are a dream come true. Finished NMH1 the other day and absolutely loved it, so once I have the cash I'm going to have a blast with the sequel (and I should probably try out Travis Strikes Again too). Can't wait for 2021!
Your fake Nintendo Direct announcement for the Switch ports was perfect
That was real
I got both of these games when they came out on Switch, but only recently started playing them. I have to say, they're really good! I've beaten the first one, and I'm close to finishing the second, but the final boss is a pain in the ass. I also want to add, in terms of glitches and bugs, I haven't had a problem other than the second game crashing during one of the boss fights.
I'm so happy these games got ported, so now we will have the WHOLE SERIES on 1 system which is awesome.
And it’s among the top sellers!!!!
Bought 1, played it for first time, then bought 2, about to finish it today, no regrets
two of very few games that can actually run 60 FPS on Switch
Almost every first party Nintendo game runs at 60?
The hype train is ON!!! definatly buying nomoreheroes ! when i get home today
A no more heroes boss should be like the ones in Cuphead, complicated attackpatterns that are 100% avoidable if you can see them coming.
mmmm destroyman theme
currently beating the 1st game after putting it on shelf for 3+ month on 5th rank since controller broke (on dolphin)
beaten it 3 days from this comment age
20hr playtime mild lmao
no more hereos 2 kicks so much ass
The no more heroes franchise is such a amazing saga, too bad i was playing the ps3 version and then i starting to think that this game was garbage and after buying the pc ports i was just *wrong*
Now i want a madworld port
15:30 - 15:45 I think you're right. The only Grasshopper games I played years ago were NMH1, NMH2 and Killer7. I played through TSA last year and it made me interested in giving the Kill the Past series a try.
One weird thing about the Switch port is the exclusion of the K-entertainment theme, I understand the Heavenly Star as it is a licensed song but K-Enterntainment should be an original song.
Oh hey, this is the first time the original gets released uncensored in Australia.
Honestly, thank christ we finally have these games running smoothly in 60 for once.
I loved Killer7, NMH 1 and liked 2, now if only Killer7 got Switch / PS4 port. :
There's a side mission in NMH 1 that made the game lock himself, the side mission is the one with the secret reward
I'm looking forward to your no more heroes 3 review more than the actual game
I've beaten both ports multiple times and while I consider them to be the definitive way to experience these games, they both have bugs that need ironing out to for me to consider them absolutely perfect.
NMH1
-The baseball minigame seems to be much, much harder than it was on the Wii, it's pretty much impossible to beat with a standard controller, and the joycons are only marginally better at registering hits.
-The final Free Fight mission at the bus station seems to be bugged. Can't access it at all.
NMH2
-Beam katana effects seem somewhat off.
No TSA was far better than Nmh2. Nmh2 takes the satire of the first game and plays it straight which makes it a far worse experience
Really good point about Travis Strikes back, I'll give it a shot
Something I always find odd about playing NMH2 on Switch is that the Charlie intro scene is scaled down in resolution compared to every other scene in the game (Travis is also wearing his default outfit here no matter what you have on). I head it was supposedly due to the wii version having done something similar due to how much was going on screen, in reference to the whole mech transformation scene.
That joke about people needlessly stretching emulated games. XD
It's become so ubiquitous, sometimes even official re-releases allow it. I imagine the developers are just as confused as we are, and merely include it because it seems to be a popular thing.
OOOOHHHHHHH THIS MAN SPEAKING FACTS IN THE LAST 2 MINS
it's true; i saw a lot of new players enjoying this port.
Enjoyed the NMH3 fancam
I am a simple man. I see GP post NMH video, I give it a like.
