The heart and soul of the game is the combat, and in that the game is 👌 With that said I get the "need" of the "open world" and minigames, to break the "monotony". And to be honest it's successful, it's not great for sure, but it does just that and you also don't really spend much time in it. So over all 👍 from me.
Funny thing the metacritic part was included about travis strikes again, when in that exact same game there is a dialog where travis asks Jeane if she is afraid of the metacritic score or angry gamer reviews for making a game that is so different than it would be expected from the series
Well, I'm having a blast so far. The fighting is great in this one. Though the world might be a little unpolished and empty, I like driving around, collecting stuff, doing sidequests etc. Just going from bossfight to bossfight would be a little lame. I also like that they cut down on money grinding for the next battle significantly
its an amazing game. And im glad it's only for the fans. People complaining about not liking it just makes me like it even more, and reminds me why im a big Suda51 fan in the first place
@ConfusedSoniku300 because of the world bein g worse, and the levels being removed. All it has is good combat and jokes not as funny and story not as good
Lol.I Just picked it up sub $10 on the PS store thinking it can't be that bad... uhm yeah, there's a reason it was on sale for like $7, it's absolutely awful, I wish I could get my money back.
I've been playing it since launch, it's definately a game for fans that have played the other games in the series. I love the call backs, references, and I've been having a complete blast playing it honestly. I'm glad to be a fan, and it does feel cool to be a part of something like this. Only other series I've ever payed attention to so much is elder scrolls and fallout. 💯
For some reason I love exploring that overworld that most reviewers seem to hate. Its a bit spooky and all these odd areas that you can get to. Plus there is a lot of stuff sprinkled all over it to collect like trading cards, scorpions, and Jeane's kittens. It's almost the break the mind needs before the absurdity of each fight...the lull before the Garden of Madness!
@@thebird2569 Nah, I think it's supposed to represent the bleakness of the world itself, really... I'm pretty sure it's supposed to feel monotonous and empty because that IS Travis' life outside of killing.
Tbh NMH's open world has been lacking. Part 2 didn't even have one. But I've learned to enjoy 3's world, especially after I got the chip that makes your controller vibrate when collectibles and secrets are around. Mostly I've been hunting kitties, Trading Cards and Scorpions, trying to clean up before I take on the final boss. But I'm biased NMH is one of my favorite series and has been since 1, I've played and beaten every game released in the US multiple times. So 3 was exactly what I wanted it to be.
I'm glad this is geared more towards fans of the series, it's part 3....so I mean....yeah...I hate when a part 3 or even 5 of something tries to pander to newcomers rather than fleshing out more what already existed. Anyway game looks fun! Can't wait to play er

An amazing send off to Travis Touchdown, still playing it. I disagree with the side mission battle locations, there are some points where you fight at gas stations and parking lots. You just have to do enough defense battles to see the difference. The open world is expanded from NMH1 and that's really all I needed.

Absolutely hated not being able to run around in the second game. And screw those 8-but mini games. Let me mow lawns!
People are way to used to games like GTA and BotW and think that if they're aren't many things to do than it's terrible game design. To me driving the bike and walking around the somewhat barren open world allowed me to chill Abit before I decide to take in battles. Best part is you don't lose any of the main narrative or combat if you don't take part in quests or jobs and can kinda spam combat missions. But the combat is a bit limited (compared to Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta) so that barren open world actually gave this game more value imo. Glad you enjoy it too though!
Ive played Flower, Sun and Rain so the open world didnt bother me at all lol. The only thing that bugged me was some of the texture loading on shirts, but 3 was fantastic.
Pretty much agree with everything. But I can't figure out why the visuals took such a hit. The old games look way better by comparison which is crazy since it's running on older hardware. Even Travis Strikes Back looked pretty good, but maybe that's because it was a top down game.
@LEGENDARY MEMBER Y2K I mean this being the final game in the series you would think he would of pulled out all the stops. I think it has more to do with Unreal Engine possibly not working as well on Switch than on the higher spec consoles. Or Suda's studio not having much Unreal Engine experience.
The only problem is the open world is barren? Dude, this is No More Heroes, a barren open world is EXACTLY what I want. And the motorcycle feels great.

@@Prawnsacrifice it's not even just the resolution. The textures in nmh3 are more detailed most of the time (save for like the trucks and some of the backgrounds) even in the comparison shot
Am I Travis Touchdown? I practice kata with light sabers, I own anime figures and even have a white cat that has the exact coat color as Jeanne. I know what I'm dressing up as for Halloween
The graphical glitches etc, almost feels charming, like playing an old PS1/PS2 game. And I'm just gonna pretend, that it was done so on purpose, to spoof modern glitchy and buggy games ;)
I know this video was uploaded 4 months, but I gotta say something. The only thing that was disappointing about the game (in my opinion) was that they didn't make different kitana's for you to use. I don't about you, but I remember you being able to use 4 different kitana's in nmh2 and being able to change them mid battle.
I'm still a relative newcomer (only finished both games like a week before the third one released) and I literally knew nothing about these games just 2-3 weeks ago, but this is legit my personal GOTY atm. My least favorite is NMH2 tbh (probably gonna get a lot of hate from this), and whilst for a lot of people the humor in the third game is a bit stale, I absolutely loved it ! I can't even count how many times I've laughed out loud ! The open world whilst stale and empty, I enjoy it a lot more than the first one, probably because there's more variety? There is a lot of issues with the performance, but honestly it never bothered me. Even if you're a newcomer just try it out ! I had no idea 3 weeks ago that I would become such a huge fan, and maybe NMH3 will be the same for you too !
@@Prawnsacrifice then what else is it gonna be then psychonaughts 2. I see it being game of the year or dying light 2 but no more heros 3 deserves an award and this game even if doesn't win goty this game is one of the best this year around
Lol GOTY? Hardly.... This game is literally half baked, not even half baked, it hasn't even been put in the oven, thats how unfinished it feels. If we are talking GOTY, Deathloop easily takes the win, while if we want something more artsy "Twelve Minutes" (James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, Willem Dafoe) takes the cake. NMH3 just feels outdated, and GOTY should be for games that actually bring something new and fresh to the table
Fan of the series or not, making a game in 2021 that performs worse than in 2007 can't be swallowed for a full triple A price tag. 30-35 bucks after waiting for a sh*t loads of patches. Maybe. Great review man!
15:40 do not say the FOG is used to hide how empty the level is, I break games for a living I managed to remove the fog from call of battle as well as from many other levels, just telling you the game runs at 4fps... the fog is clearly a hardware limitation they actually can't render that whole map in one go...
I don't mind the open world of NMH3. But after NMH2 and TSA it sucks not having proper levels to tie all the fights together. I would consider all three games to be of exactly level quality. Which is pretty insane to me.
These videos and channel gets better and better all the time! Me and my wife have been huge fans, she also really enjoys Kim's channel. I have been wondering about No more heroes 3 and this provided me a lot of information. I now plan on replaying the first and second games first to re-ignite that spark before I try #3. Thank you so much!
You didn't mention the other chips that help to enhance abilities of the the deathglove, the defense missions (which do take place in the area you found them).
How much roughly, would it take to fix this game and drop an update. The outer worlds went through a similar hiccup where after the devs dropped a few patches , the game progressively got better
@@Prawnsacrifice sucks cause I’ve been waiting on the arrival of NMH3 since last year and to see it’s current state with all these issues I guess the best bet for me personally is to buy and try the first 2 games hopefully by then this game releases a patch or 2 maybe a sale 🤞🤞
@@CALL0US. i wouldn’t recommend playing this one without playing the first two anyway, a lot of the enjoyment in 3 comes from how it follows the past games. if you like the first two you’ll more than likely enjoy this but if you don’t then you’re definitely not going to be into 3!
@@hisgrinningskull2122 appreciate it bro I will do. If anytime is a better opportunity to do so, is now. And god willing sometime the rest of this year NMH3 will be playable. Thanks for the feedback
Must say in terms of hack and slash’s on the switch I would say the best is Ultra Age… by far! The combat is so fluid and feels strong and satisfying. It has some challenging, heart pumping bosses and does not get boring. I have played it 6 times in a row.
9:42 Just grind midori midorikawa on carolina reaper mode(since you can re-fight boss battles at a difficulty of your choosing even if you're on a bitter save) like 10 times and you're good. you >CAN< easilly max things out on one playthrough lol. 10:36 I'd be concerned if an NMH game had a GOOD open world. This is why 2 was missing it lol.
If the open world was good I'd be disappointed. Although I wish the forbidden areas got unlocked cuz Neo Brazil is too much of a joke. I hope it gets dlc that makes those areas playable.
@@Pak_Industrial yea that was a dissapointing was waiting for the whole map to open up and the removal of simple stages before bossfights was a letdown the rest is great and improved
They probably didn’t have fighting in the world because the frame rate would’ve tanked more. The open world already struggles to keep 30fps. Fighting would’ve made it worse. To keep the frame rate higher in combat, changing it to a much smaller area makes sense.
No More Heroes 3 has one big problem it used the Unreal Engine 4 the engine runs on the Switch yes but unoptimized every game looks ugly thats run on it
Quick tell me you never understood No More Heroes without telling me you never understood No More Heroes. Also you absolutely do fight in the open world many times but they still give you the same loading screens without the beaming up this happens during a few defense missions and is done because the Switch just doesn't work well with normal open world games its simple as that. Also that awful filter is because its a island modeled after Call of Duty's browns and greys which is why its called Call of Battle Island or something along those lines.
Could it be possible the team did what they had to for this game to be finish by focusing on gameplay, characters, story and anything else last if their development time was still around covid?
woods is the reason i am bought a nintendo switch yesterday. i have been watching him for 2 years and he has been my favourite youtuber. i have tryed convinising my parents to let me buy a switch myself but they said no untill now and i want to say thank you woods even if you don't see this.
This game is self aware and I have a few issues as a big fan of the series. One being Henry's voice actor change. And bad girl's voice. Game play is smooth and story is amazing. The boss fights are unique and character design is unique as well. I do agree the world feels empty and pointless but the Akira motorcycle was awesome!!!
I Love No More Heroes, but I don't know... 3 have quite a few flaws for me... One of the biggest problems for me are the Graphics, I would'Ve prefered it if they would've gone with the NMH1 or 2 Graphics. The Characters look extremly playstic-y because of all the shine they have on the model and it looks all really rough around the edges. When NMH1 and 2 look still pretty good today, yeah... not the best looking Games ever, even 13 years ago, but it just fits. Also all the Character models look like Downgrades from 1 or 2. I thinl Shinobu looked so much better in 1 and 2 same with Travis. The Open World is really "meh", they brought it back because Fans wanted the Open World back, me included. But It's just so big and empty and just adds more Loading Screens. NMH1 Open World was empty too and there was much to do, but it wasn't so big and it was kinda like neigherhood, 3 is just big and empty. Combat is pretty good, but it's really repetitive. NMH1 High Stance, Low Stance and I think different Wrestling moves. NMH3 had different Beam Katana's that played different, 1 Quick Beam katana, 1 Slow long range beam katana, 1 Dual Beam Katana, and also I think different wrestling moves. 3 has just 1 Beam Katana Fast or Slow moves, 1 Wrestling Move, but 4 Skills which are the same the whole Game.... The Enemie design were pretty unique... but I don't really liked the Alien theme, but thats just me. I really liked the Boss Designs in 1 and 2, the only good Boss Design I really liked in 3 was Midori Midorikawa. Destroyman and Henry we knew and the rest is just the Aliens. And Another BIG problem for me, which might be the biggest one... the Dialogue... of before and after Boss Fights and in between. NMH1 and 2 had so many good moments, with the Asssassins, Sylvia, Shonobu etc in 3 there are some that are good, but overall it's less and not as good as NMH1 and 2, I think. For Example Dr Peace, Holly Summer, all the moments with Sylvia. There are pretty much no good moments with Sylvia in 3 and like I said only a few good ones with Bosses... but some of those don't even have direct interactions with the Boss intended Boss. So yeah I personally prefere NMH 1 or 2 over 3.

Im definetly buying them all!!! loved the games and the 3rd.... but ya buying the first and second again!
Am I Travis Touchdown? I practice kata with light sabers, I own anime figures and even have a white cat that has the exact coat color as Jeanne. I know what I'm dressing up as for Halloween
Honestly I love all 4 games I have TSA and No More heroes 3 enjoyed it. I have to get NMH 1-2 for the switch soon
Some battles take place in the open world
Watching the stream with him playing the first game was so fun! BAH!!!
YES!!! 😂😂😭😭🤣🤣 loved that BBAAHH there at the end !
It's a great game but needs some patches
The graphical glitches etc, almost feels charming, like playing an old PS1/PS2 game.
And I'm just gonna pretend, that it was done so on purpose, to spoof modern glitchy and buggy games ;)
3 is amazing, don’t get me wrong it has a few flaws but it’s amazing
Open worlds can be good but a lot fall on rather having nothing to do or busy work
I too own a Master Sword and have been eyeing this Samurai Jacket for a while now. You're a pretty cool guy
This game is an underrated masterpiece. I'm having a blast playing it.
I know the reviews are bad but i still love the game.
Travis Strikes Again doesnt deserve all the hate it does. Has probably the best story out of all of the NMH stories.
I know this video was uploaded 4 months, but I gotta say something. The only thing that was disappointing about the game (in my opinion) was that they didn't make different kitana's for you to use. I don't about you, but I remember you being able to use 4 different kitana's in nmh2 and being able to change them mid battle.
...did I play the same game? There were a ton of battles in different locations
Dam go play some more games this year there is no way this slock will be game of the year man
@@Prawnsacrifice then what else is it gonna be then psychonaughts 2.
Hey beatemups how’s it going love the intro
You didn't mention the other chips that help to enhance abilities of the the deathglove, the defense missions (which do take place in the area you found them).
I watch you as part of my mental health support regimen as you never fail to uplift me and make me laugh. Thank you❣️
Yoo saw you on dr.direspect stream! ....great video
I've beat the game, and it's awesome, I don't care about how many "problems" people say it has.
How much roughly, would it take to fix this game and drop an update. The outer worlds went through a similar hiccup where after the devs dropped a few patches , the game progressively got better
I would argue it's frundmental issues are unchanged tho hopfully they can do somthing with the second cause outer world felt really half baked to me
@@Prawnsacrifice sucks cause I’ve been waiting on the arrival of NMH3 since last year and to see it’s current state with all these issues I guess the best bet for me personally is to buy and try the first 2 games hopefully by then this game releases a patch or 2 maybe a sale 🤞🤞
@@CALL0US. i wouldn’t recommend playing this one without playing the first two anyway, a lot of the enjoyment in 3 comes from how it follows the past games. if you like the first two you’ll more than likely enjoy this but if you don’t then you’re definitely not going to be into 3!
@@hisgrinningskull2122 appreciate it bro I will do. If anytime is a better opportunity to do so, is now. And god willing sometime the rest of this year NMH3 will be playable. Thanks for the feedback
I'm a big fan of Let It Die despite the fact that I haven't played it in years so I REALLY wanna get into this series
Must say in terms of hack and slash’s on the switch I would say the best is Ultra Age… by far! The combat is so fluid and feels strong and satisfying. It has some challenging, heart pumping bosses and does not get boring. I have played it 6 times in a row.
I might check it. I hate bayoneta 1 and 2
@@matuscara4733 If you hate Bayonetta you have no business playing any other hack and slash game because it’s the best period.
@@mecharidley I love dmc.
@@matuscara4733 DMC creator made Bayonetta 😂
@@mecharidley and?
The cosplay was fricken amazing 👏
Hope they fix the open world with a patch since most of the game takes place in the open world and i will buy it
My only complaint is there is absolutely nothing to do post credits..
No More Heroes 3 has one big problem
it used the Unreal Engine 4
the engine runs on the Switch yes but unoptimized every game looks ugly thats run on it
Quick tell me you never understood No More Heroes without telling me you never understood No More Heroes.
Covid was def a big role on rhis game's drawbacks, i love this game to death but i really wish they ironed it out in a rerelease.
woods is the reason i am bought a nintendo switch yesterday. i have been watching him for 2 years and he has been my favourite youtuber. i have tryed convinising my parents to let me buy a switch myself but they said no untill now and i want to say thank you woods even if you don't see this.
Also let's hope with how the game story went and how the game truly feels it's just begging for big updates or dlc expansions of some kind hopefully
Michael Does Life destroyed Cyberpunk before you did Beat em ups. I really enjoyed your review of NMH3. Pretty much sums up my experience. Thank you!
I think Call of Battle is meant pretty explicitly to be a parody of modern war shooters. So it has that ugly brown grey graphical filter.
4:28 perfect time for the ad to cut in
No more Hero’s was the reason I bought the switch same with bayonetta.
I feel a game like no more heroes 3 should be more of a beat em up. with no overworld. just constant fighting and madness with some cutscenes.
Love the shoutout to AEW! Man. Didnt know you could be any cooler my dude.
Wood love your videos Son!!!!!!! Keep up the great work homie 💪😎
Teleporting to a fighting arena dimension is a tokusatsu trope.
I feel like a NMH character will be the final DLC character in Smash Ultimate
"I won't completely not alive you." 🤣Thankfully I'm subscribed and I liked.
Lol was the ending scream planned to sound like that? It sounds like the goons dying in no more heroes 😂😂
Didn't convince me to buy the game, but the review itself is a masterpiece..... "It Hurts"
This game is perfect, big up for SUDA51
I respect that DBZA reference
Yeah, the open world experience is pretty rough. But I still enjoyed the game for the most part.
What? Why would they replace Quinton?
@@Jackattack359 I'm not sure but I really didn't like it. It through things off for me.
@@vampireotaku4172 maybe he was unavailable, but nobody can do Henry better than him
I appreciate so much that he mentioned AEW and All Japan
At 10:49 This looks like Generator Rex roaming the city without Sky Scrapers . In reality it is not.
That grass really made me wonder if it was intentionally ugly or not.
