Well done Omar! A Merry Mercury Christmas to you. Thanks in helping to keep history alive, and inspiring us to do the same 🏁
Much appreciated! I like that, a Merry mercury Christmas!
Good to see it on the road. Got my wife invested in watching your videos, learning more about that old car in the garage.
Much appreciated! There will be much more work to be done on this thing. I’m just glad it runs!
The Cyclone is sounding good.😁
"Gas it gas it...." That's often the trick with carbs LOL. Such a massive milestone to have it starting, stopping, and starting again! Giddyap!
I'm 60 years old and I'm. Living the dream with you. If your engine's getting hot, don't push it, let it cool down. Naturally no sense. Blowing your motor when you don't need to. Also I don't need the music. I'd rather hear the motor run. Those cars are super cool😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Haha much appreciated. I definitely red some gauges on this car to really know what’s going on. Different music than my normal on this video, will keep that in mind!
Hello from Europe (Austria) - subscribed. Congrats on getting it back on the road. Mine is waiting for temperatures to return to normal for me to change the front drums for our inspection, my aim is similar to yours which is to get the car back on the road and get to drive it after it hardly turned a wheel the last 3 years. Then the year after next continue with modifications/improvements...
Wow very cool from Austria! I think my mindset has changed on these cars. First try to get them on the road, and then do modifications if needed. Definitely learned my lesson the galaxie haha
@@OmarRamirezGalaxie spot on. I so far resisted taking too much apart so that the car was always "almost" road ready. At some point I'd want to get the 289 done and replace the McLeod 5sp for a TRX or a toploader+GV overdrive but that's in the future... Good luck with your car!
Good work buddy
congratulations, looking forward to watching the exhaust build project
Going with long tube headers so she’ll still be a bit rowdy !
Sounds great. And looks great with that patina.
very cool!
First drives are a kick!!!
Double clutching is a clear sign that lower gears are needed (350-370). I bet you’ve got around 290 rear axel ratio.
Omar I really like you and your cars and your videos. You are careful and a good teacher. I am looking forward to watching more of your video and will be looking at the ones you have already posted. I am Blaine in Santa Cruz, CA. I used to live in Southern California. I am old Ford lover that likes to wrench and build driver cars. God bless.😎
Much appreciated Blaine! Thanks for the comment!
I never would have guessed you didn't drive manuals! Once you go stick you don't go back, haha.
Haha yes, not much manuals left in California. It is really addicting though!!
Fix the water leak. Have alook at water under the car at the first set of of
lights when you take off.
well done, you got yourself a really cool Merc ! I love how it looks, I would just try to get some stock interior but other than that it´s perfect the way it is
Thanks! Yes I think some door cards and proper seats will be in order
@@OmarRamirezGalaxie SMS Autofabrics has a 10% off December sale. I don't know if they have Mercury stuff though
Nice ...Big Time.... Good to see her rolling. Over heating may be thermostat ? Merry Christmas and a great 2024.
Merry Christmas! It was probably some water leakage, but will be installing some gauges to really know what’s going on
That first drive with a project is Allways special :)....Shifter seems to be a bit of a reach.....IIRC the bolt pattern for the 67 mustang 3 speed shifter is the same and it curves back to you so you wont have to reach forward the way you were having to.
Definitely! Yes I think a proper shifter handle and ball is In order haha. I’ll keep an eye out on the oem shifter, it’s a reach trying to gear change
Awe man let’s go!
Nice job! I have a lot of experience keeping SBF’s cool. Lmk if you want advice from an old timer like me!
Thanks! Always appreciate advice, often times it’s the small things that are overlooked
Well then, here are my two cents: pulling air thru the radiator is half the battle. The other half is getting the hot air off the engine. Believe it or not, a fan shroud will make a huge difference in cooling. I had a 64 Econoline I shoehorned a 351C into, in place of the stock 170. It ran hot with the rad designed for a 6 cylinder. The local rad shop told me to just put a shroud on. I did and never ran hot again. I would also recommend a fan blade with bigger blades than what you have. I’ve had great luck with a flex a lite. Cheers!
If you are keeping this as a cruiser, use the Edelbrock. No need to spend extra for a fancier carb. If you are going to tune and race, sure, get the Holley. Just my buck and a quarter bit of input.
Good advice, I think I’ll keep the Edelbrock for now. Eventually I want to take it to the track but that is a long ways away haha
A good background song for that car would be Deep Purple, Highway Star
Oh man!! Definitely!
Go to Parts Geek to get the proper upper radiator hose.
What cam do you have?
Honestly I have no idea, I bought the car and to my surprise the engine is in great condition. I believe it is a solid lifter cam. I’ll be changing the intake and will have a closer look soon!
I love that '64 Cyclone! It was a fun video but I could have done without the head-banging music. I just fast-forwarded through it.
Haha did something different for this video, will be going back to the usual! More driving to come
