    When I saw the new valve springs my first thought was I bet someone put a cam kit in it with matching timing gear, chain, lifter's and springs looks like they did cool. That holly is something special as you may already know, personally I would give it a proper rebuild and proper jetting and run it hell yeah you've got a piece gold there brother, it's all about the jetting. That carb was one of the first items inducted into the Hot Rod Magazine Speed Parts Hall of Fame.

      A Holley double pumper would definitely be sweet! You are correct, I think someone had installed a cam and lifter kit along with the timing chain. I think this is a huge score!

    The valve cover look to be right. One has a placement for the PVC Valve and the other for the breather/oil fill tube.

    Hi Omar, my first car in 1968 was a 64 mercury comet caliente convertable, 289 4 bbl, with the Fx trans ps, pb,naughahide interior,white top and that mercury orange- red color paint. Wish I had never parted with it. Good luck with your cyclone, sounds mean!

    That was awesome. Those Comets are really nice cars. For a young guy you have a lot of knowledge with old cars. You make good detailed videos and your work is very meticulous. I followed you on your 428 build. Sorry about the block. It was just crappy luck and shouldn’t reflect the great work you did. Was a beautiful job you did and enjoyed watching the whole build. Best of luck on the Comet 👍🏻👍🏻

    Yeah, that was definitely too much carb for a 289. Looks like a solid motor Omar.

    That is the 375 hp 396 and 425 hp 427 Corvette carb. It is a 780 cfm and is a valuable carb that I would love to take off your hands, lol. Neat carb. I T sounds like a beast. I am really sad that the 428 was cracked. Keep looking for a 428, they are great torquey engines. But a 289 is a good one too! Do you have headers on the Cyclone?

    • @OmarRamirezGalaxie
      @OmarRamirezGalaxie  11 місяців тому +2

      Thanks for the info! Carb will most likely be up for sale as the base linkage looks to be different. I’ll be installing some goodies on this comet, headers would be sweet!

    Nice score .64 Comet are good looking car. Those heads or engine have been replace as they are 65 heads maybe close chamber also you can notice adjustable rocker so it 's not stock on a 289. those run really well with 600 cfm up to 7000 rpm

    Happy day when this engine comes aliv: It seems that lots of things were done to the engine. So you have a winner here. And you really deserve it.
    At least where you live you can take a car on the road as soon as it is save to drive. Wher I live the laws are killing guys like me who love classic cars. I have vehicles awaiting super stupid inspections. Having a rust hole the size of a penny makes a car fail. It is ridiculous.

    Coincidence maybe, but it occurred to me Friday that I dropped an Edelbrock 1406 and intake on my '69Falcon Labor Day 27 years ago. It's never been off the car or.had the top off since. Great carb for the daily driver/ cruiser. It will serve you well.

    Typical Ford products from that era, rusted out floor pans. I believe I told you the story about Ford engineers creating the e-coat system and selling the rights to use it to GM and Chrysler, which used them on all of their cars. Ford only used it on the top of the line vehicles like Thunderbird and Lincoln. Nice to see you with some new projects!
