- ScaleTrains.com is proud to present our first layout tour video of Todd Arnett’s HO Scale Princeton Deep-Water Division of Norfolk Southern. You’ll learn about the real-life inspiration for Todd’s layout, how he built it, and why he’s the proud owner of over fifty ScaleTrains.com Rivet Counter locomotives. Throughout the video, you’ll see various Rivet Counter models, including the HO Tier 4 GEVo, the DASH 9-44CW, the C39-8, and our “Admiral Cab” SD40-2. So sit back and relax as we take a deeper look into Todd Arnett's layout.

Love Portsmouth. My family was from there. Showed this to my 91 year old mother. She knew some Arnett's down in Portsmouth. Small world Todd. Loved your video.
Most honest and forthright interview I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Really enjoyed his honesty and candor about his "not being able to afford"
what has turned out to be a life's passion. I believe he's doing alright. And he has his wife's approval! Go Buckeyes!!!
A fellow Norfolk Southern modeler who lives a stone throw away. I grew up on Brevard Place road in Iron Station, and now live a few miles away in Denver NC. I'm modeling the early NS.
The problem that I have is that the video isn't long enough! Need more! Great products!
I gotta say Scales Trains is setting the standard for quality and reasonable price on all there product. By the end of Janurary 2020 my layout will be 80% Scale Trains all Tankers if they can keep then in stock after I try to buy as many as possible LMAO! Thank you so much for giving many of us A GREAT PRODUCT THAT WE ALL CAN AFFORD! Keep up the great work!
As Sparky would say Still need a flatcar Jac Jac
@@joshuawilliams8024 lmao if someone want me to run flatcar buy it send it and ill use it as a buffer lol
Totally agree Todd. Nothing better than fall weather in the Horseshoe in Columbus. O-H!
I-O!
I collect trains, run them on my layout, I have engines from all major manufacturers I only now buy engines from tow Scale Trains is the top of my lists. Their products are amazing..second to none!
Thank you, David! -Drayton
Damn son that's a lot of nice details and equipment
Hey Todd! Beautiful layout and locomotives man! Sometimes less is more I appreciate this because I have constraints too and it makes you get creative to make it work. WAYYY more peace of mind than a boat! Not to mention we're inside where it's cool in the summer, warm in the winter, heck...our wives can't complain because they know where we are. Thank you Shane and everyone at ScaleTrains...Jac Jac said it best - for a great product we all can afford.
Thanks for that kind feedback. We certainly enjoyed visiting with Todd and appreciate the uniqueness of his layout. -Drayton
@@Scaletrains You're welcome...models are amazing. Will take this opportunity to put in a shameless request for a CSX Wabtec Cab GP38-3...never hurts to ask!
huge shoutout to this great layout-tour video! fantastic work by everyone involed.
i think this is something very good that scaletrains does for us modelers to show such amazing layouts!
very cool!
I feel like if scale trains was never created then we wouldn’t have many very good locomotives today! You guys really set the standard, challenging all the other companies
Thank you. That really means a lot to us. -Drayton
What an awesome layout in such an average room size! It’s great to see Todd on the ScaleTrains team giving that NS influence. Hoping to see more of these videos. Drayton narrating is great.
Shane and Todd, great video. Hey Todd, I live in Ironton, Ohio, just down the road from Portsmouth. My father was a yardmaster at Armco in Ashland KY right across the river. He brought me up with C&O/Chessie and now CSX, but i remember seeing all the old Norfolk Western running East /West through Ironton and South Point. I currently model CSX modern on my 12x12x12x12 layount. I love the Scaletrains locos as well. I just switched from N Scale to HO so i sold all my Scaletrains N Scale GEVO and havent bought any HO yet, but I'm waiting for their newest to come out. Anyway, great video. Thanks
What a beautiful layout. Looking forward to more of these layout tours.
Modello fantastico. I treni attraversano il mondo. Il bello della passione per la ferrovia. Buona Pasqua. USA.
That's a great looking layout. Thank you for sharing. You're not alone having a room full of compromises. I have an 11x10 twice around the room track plan focused on operations. If I'm going to own 50+ of any particular locomotive, hands down it would be ScaleTrains. Best bang for the buck by a pretty long shot. I own 2 Rivet Counters and 2 Operator Series. All SD40-2s.
Thanks Jason!
Great layout. It’s really good seeing such a nice example of fitting lots of interesting operations into a reasonable space. I’m looking forward to seeing more in this series.
Another beautiful layout that I will never get the privilege to see in person. Awesome work and detail tho.
I own an SD 40-2 and they are great ,quit and powerful locomotives.
I have two. Love them
That was totally awesome!! Wow you guys keep should keep those vids coming great job!
Thanks for the great video. Nice clean layout and stocked with ScaleTrains engines to boot!
Great new series and I shall certainly look forward to more in the future. It is also really nice to see the Scaletrains lokies in action. I have yet to purchase one, but look forward to some day acquiring an Operator puppy.
I agree with the design priority. Operations first! Rivet Counter makes that easier too.
Great Video and Layout.
I just purchased my 1st Four Scale train locomotives and Truly love them.
Andy M Sutton, Mass
Incredible layout yes scale trains makes Incredible models as well. - Joey
Great video, I'm excited to see where this series goes! One thing I would like to see in the future would be a quick walk around of the entire layout, so we can see everything on the layout. Keep up the good work!
This isn't about Todd's layout, it was a total Scale Trains Commercial.
Todd, nice going. I love everything about your layout. In this case comprise works!
Thanks John. I appreciate it.
Norfolk Southern is my top line that I plan to run. I am a huge fan of NS, CSX, BNSF and Clinchfield. That’s the only engines I saw as a young man hauling many tons of coal from point A to point B. I plan to install a coal belt running out of the mountain crossing the highway just as it stood tall in SW Virginia on traveling over highway 26. Coal will be my primary good being transported throughout my layout. I have collected for over 30 years beginning at age 12 to present. 👍
Very well done to everyone !! What a nice layout. I appreciate you operating at more prototypical speeds. Also the weathering is just right. Very nice video.
Thanks Paul!
Thank you for sharing
Nice layout tours video. Now for some modern plastic pellet covered hoppers like the Trinity 6100 cap car. They come in several shades of gray and seen some beige one's too.
Yessssss
@@Barney-hk3es The manufacturers got to keep up with the times. More modern tankers are a must too. Mixers my way are mostly made up of chemicals, plastic pellet, coil cars, gondola and flat/bulkheads with steel product and paper items box cars.
Enjoyed the video.i always like seeing an rail fanning others layouts. I own some Scale Trains rivot counter products an i am very pleased with them. I can't wait for the next episode. Thankyou
It was great talking to you at Springfield
Very nice layout great choice in locomotives .
Looks great!
Wow! Beautiful! Wish I had the skill to do something like this
Great interview!
Awesome video and layout
Very nice layout. If I had the money, i would own a ton more STs than I do now.
Show essas locomotivas.
Estão perfeitas. Parabéns!
very nice railroad!
I live in Tazewell County on the other side of Bluefield. This is indeed based on southern West Virginia rail traffic including Princeton, West Virginia? For a work full of compromise, it rocks! Love the detail of the silver TOP GON coal hopper with the Roanoke shop graffic.
Thanks!
I like how they are buckeye fans 👍
Very nice my compliments sir
The only issue that I have with this vid,is not using Kadee magnetic uncouplers on the layout.
It's much more realistic then using a pic and alot more fun.
Ready and waiting
This great!
So I’m assuming this is a point to point layout? Super cool, I’d love to do something exactly like this.
Yes, point to point. Thanks.
Nicely done
WORLDS COLLIDE: Delay in Block Productions x ScaleTrains
I love Norfolk and southern engines myself because that’s what I have in my basement
I do the same thing when i run my CB&Q AND BN IN TRANSITION been in the hobby since 1961
great video
please what model of this 8635 locomotive ??
Great vid!
I forgot DIB was at scale trains. Imagine my surprise!
So Drayton @Delay In Block Productions when is Josh Clark's Asheville Divison layout tour coming out on this channel and can you put a full layout tour video of his layout on your channel
Joshua Williams Josh’s layout tour will he posted to ScaleTrains.com’s Channel.
Really nice layout, good products, and love that shirt...GO BUCKEYES!!!!!
Thanks man. Go Bucks!
@@mtarnett2494 what size turnouts did you use? and thanks.
@@edwardvelez2930 The turnouts in the yards are Peco Code 83 #5s. Mainline turnouts are Walthers/Shinohara #8s. Thanks.
@@mtarnett2494 Thanks for the info. much appreciated sir
Awesome layout! Well done sir. Does the coal actually load? Because I see loaded and empties. I am going compromise myself. I think a point to point will work.
No, it's not an operating loadout. The loads are manually inserted and removed. Thanks.
The trick is to have so many ScaleTrain engines in your collection so that your wife has no idea when you buy another one. 👍
Very true! Hahahaha. -Drayton
DIB + Scale Trains = cool
I love your layout I don’t have no body that will. Help me with mine
This was an ad. Not a layout tour. Didn't even show us around, was just marketing and sell more for ScaleTrains...
Yeah ! Same as that "What's neat in Model Railroads (or, maybe it's Trains)" guy, Patterson or such.. All his vids are ads...M
I have been informed that a follow up video will be made in the first part of 2020 which will include a full tour of the layout and it's operations. I will complete more scenery over the winter months as only 25% of the layout is complete with such. Thanks!
Beautiful Loco's and cars for sure ,but nothing for the early diesel' guys . The Geeps F unit's and other early stuff. I know many have been done but so many road's & model's not made. High end GP 30's are missing GP 20's list is long.
do I recognize the narrator's voice?
Maybeeeee.
@@DelayInBlockProductions HA! I know I would recognize that voice anywhere, and we've not even met. I hope to soon, though. Scott T.
I wish I had sound in my engines
O-H
I-O!
Immediately turned off after hearing your choice of narrator
Transcon Media Trains -turned it waaaay down.
Beautiful layout unfortunately RUINED by that Ohio State logo. =)
