I’m 66 and the 70s and 80s were fantastic!! But this track and many of ABC’s were the best!!
I really miss ABC, HUMAN LEAGUE, SPANDAU BALLET, TEARS FOR FEARS, SIMPLE MINDS, THOMPSON TWINS, PRETENDERS and so on, That's the best music ever!
The 80ies were are great time and Brit Pop was No. 1 worldwide.
Alexandra Dumitrescu you forgot Pet Shop Boys.
John Cooper Thank you and by the way I LOVE THEIR MUSIC!
Alexandra Dumitrescu most of these bands are still going, touring and making albums
Robert Langley you'll have still bought ABC's album last year though right?
Lisa Vanderpump is so iconic I love this song!
Videos in the early 1980s are soooooo better than the pop videos of today.
I love this 80's gem.
And she looks so much better now! I can't believe it she can be even prettier!
The 80 is Top of the Pop. From Poland with love....

An introduction to the 80's, released 1982 🎉 🎸🥁
Welcome to the 80's! It was incredible!!
hello Tori, greetings, i kindly recommend “Faded Flowers” by Shriekback. A lesser know Brit band of the “80s British Invasion”. That was a song on the soundtrack of “Band of the Hand”, a cult classic movie from 1986. Hope you like the song? Cheers 😁

The 80s were the most amazing times to have grown up in!!! All this British groups were just awesome!!! ABC, Duran Duran, Def Lepard, Spandau Ballet, 🙏🏼🇬🇧
+ Depeche Mode, The Human League, Soft Cell, Tears For Fears, Simple Minds, Wham!, Culture Club, Eurythmics
@@CC3193New Order, Joy Division, the Cure, Erasure, and (my fave) the Smiths!😊
Depeche Mode too ! And don't forget great American bands Talking Heads, Devo, The Cars, Blondie, and The B-52s. You are not alone!
Simply THE BEST
I was stationed in England during the early mid 80's. I was in my 20's, oversized suits and ties were trendy and fashionable at the clubs, it was a great time and the UK was ground zero for the music.
Check out my 80s mixes!

@@user-jh9lj2lq1z Oh ok 🙂👍
The Trevor Horn production prowess was perfect for the pop drama of Martin Fry's lyrics. Probably the greatest pop debut album of the 1980's!
" I care enough to know I could never love you".
1) Killer bass line - almost a melody onto itself
2) Exquisite instrumentation including keyboards and esp. woodwind (sax)
3) Proper 'bridge' passage of completely different melody/chords, rather than a lame rap interlude
And this from a 'commercial', non-indie song at the time that was in the 'commercial' pop charts
Why can't we hear this level of song composition/musicality in most current top 10 hits today?
This era was amazing in terms of sheer composition skill - 90s too - the 80s - take me back please
comba06 I agree! That bass line in the beginning hooks you right in!
you forgot number 4.
Trevor Horn
I agree!!! Songs this exceptional shouldn't be creations of the past
lol
You can have a great opinion of this song without calling rap lame.
Seriously one of the best bands from the '80's. So glad to have experienced it all in realtime back then.
That's not saying much, 80's music was pure garbage.
Such a ridiculous generalisation. Every decade has good and bad music.
I agree 100%. can't believe I never heard of them back then. I haven't laughed this hard in a long long time
Spring 82 I think ' if memory serves.
@@redchili6927 … Honestly, you’re not far off of the mark. Definitely was an experimental decade that did not age well.

Love how they used older people dancing at a club ..this sums up the 80s proper and reminds me of the top 40 on the radio on Sundays...loved the 80s..

I remember when this first came out on Mtv. I think I'm getting old(er). I miss those days. The greatest and most creative time. I lived through the 60's and 70's with those classics. But damn the eightes were kicking butt!
I wasn't even a fan then, but thanks to Lisa's RHOBH I decided to search for it - and what a rush of nostalgia the music gave me. I didn't even know how special ABC were but now I guess I'll be buying the album. As for Lisa, I really love her style and serenity - her humour and diamond-stellar glamour. A real relief after 15 years of hairy hippies, fringe leather and bl00dy love beads!
Who's Lisa??

I ❤️LVP as well. And totally why I looked up this video lol baby Lisa is so cute 💜 and this was filmed the day before she met Ken, nawwwww
Same here. I bought the first four albums - but did not really appreciate the music. Now, at 57, I know: This is the quintessential music of the 80th. "Beauty Stab" (second album, flopped) is their masterpiece.
Love LVP❤. Still my favorite housewife to this day.
This song was one of my Brothers favorites,Everytime I hear it it reminds me of him.miss him very much .luv you bro.❤
Videos in the early 1980s are soooooo better than the pop videos of today.
That was the golden age of video.
There ARE no videos anymore. If you DO see one now, they suck!
Much better than the late 80s - the early 80s music was so cool
I beg to differ for the exception of Michael Jackson's Thriller and Peter Gabriel Sledgehammer
This video is pure 80's "new romantic" goodness 😊
This is one of those amazing songs where I can put it on loud, shut my eyes and I'm instantly rewound to the special place in time that is the early 1980's.
Why isn’t abc more popular!? They are amazing! Of course I know them from when I was a kid in the 1980s
80s music is the best in music and 80s the best in entertainment in general. That era gave us great music and great movies, that we cherish and many after our generation still enjoy. Love this song, remember that video that they showed on MTV, where they used to show music TV and not the BS that they show now. What great memories we built and great times we had, makes me so nostalgic listening to this music.
Ahh the early 1980's....new wave, punk rock, new romantics and electro pop.
Didn't know if we were coming or going../but what an amazing time to be alive. 💆
Agree, but did we know it?
Punk rock???????
@@ianwall3645 I listened to quite a bit in the 80's, went well with skating and the normal 80's bands - Misfits, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Sex Pistols, The Clash (sorta), X, Minor Threat, GBH, Agent Orange, Descendents, etc etc. All flowed perfectly well with New Order, The Smiths, OMD, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk - etc. ;D omg, good times... great times actually.. where music was concerned.
I used to get a good chuckle out of the seniors dancing away...now decades later, I'd blend right in. sigh.
😆👍🎶🎶💟
You and me both.
The band must have brought in their parents, Aunties and Uncles as the extras for the video.
A timeless New Romantics classic from ABC serving up a fabulous collaboration of vocal and instrumental that still sounds as fresh as it did back in the 1980’s. What an absolute banger of a track and still loving it in 2024.
Poison Arrow by ABC is a golden classic from an era that will never be experienced again as music exploded in the 80's because of MTV. If you got to grow up with the 50's through the 80's music YOU were blessed!
Saw loads of concerts in the 80's, huge superstars - my favourite gig of all time ? these guys, saw them at the Glasgow Apollo at the height of their fame, they played with a live orchestra, and almost blew the roof off, they were incredible.
No nudity, no swearing, no CGI...just raw talent, amazing vocals and the most killer bass guitar. Thank God I lived the 80s😎✨🎸🎹🎙️
Excellent summary. From France 🇫🇷 a New Wave devotee. His ténor voice is amazing 🎉
But heavy use of fairlight computer (which I like).
"Right from the start when you knew we would part" Still resonates 4 decades later☹️♥️😄
One of the top new wave bands from the 80,s glad I was part of it 👌
If I were to say to you, "can you keep a secret?"
Would you know just what to do or where to keep it?
Then I say, "I love you", foul the situation
Hey girl, I thought we were the right combination
Who broke my heart, you did, you did
Bow to the target, blame Cupid, Cupid
You think you're smart, stupid, stupid
Shoot that poison arrow to my heart
Shoot that poison arrow
Shoot that poison arrow to my heart
Shoot that poison arrow
No rhythm in cymbals, no tempo in drums
Love on arrival, she comes when she comes
Right on the target but wide of the mark
What I thought was fire was only the spark
The sweetest melody
Is an unheard refrain
So lower your sights, yeah
But raise your aim, raise your aim
Who broke my heart, you did, you did
Bow to the target, blame Cupid, Cupid
You think you're smart, stupid, stupid
Shoot that poison arrow to my heart
Shoot that poison arrow
Shoot that poison arrow to my heart
Shoot that poison arrow
I thought you loved me, but it seems you don't care
I care enough to know, I can never love you
Who broke my heart, you did, you did
Bow to the target, blame Cupid
You think you're smart, that's stupid
Right from the start when you knew we would part
Shoot that poison arrow to my heart
Shoot that poison arrow
Shoot that poison arrow to my heart, heart, heart
Shoot that poison arrow
Heart
Shoot that poison arrow
Shoot that poison arrow
Thank you
@@Franzie2105 The song tells a good story about a failed relationship which initialy looked promising ' the love is blind factor at play there.
One of the best albums of all time, every tune a representation of a young man's life. Listened to this hundreds of times when I was 16, the electronic drums, so clean...
I love ABC. I was sort of a sophist pop new romantic in my youthful days in the 80s and I loved the class and style of this band. They didn't make you feel like a moron for enjoying their music. They had real style, like the Roxy Music of the 80s. Martin Fry had that whole James Bond suave thing going on like Bryan Ferry. Great frontman.

started listening to ABC when I was about 11 (early 90s). Only because it was the only album(absolutely ABC) that looked cool on my dads CD collection. Denon CD, Sennheiser headphones... I didnt know who they were but after the 1st listen I was converted and saved up to by the lexicon of love. On absolutely ABC "how to be a millionaire" was amazing due to the stereo sound. Seen them live when supporting culture club in the mid 90s. Went to a casino in Manchester and seen a signed copy of the lexicon of love in a cabinet.
