Mark Holllis was one of the great unsung musical geniuses of a generation. This is a beautiful song, but "The Colour of Spring" is an album masterpiece, brilliant from start to finish.
You know, one of the best things about being in my 50's now is that I lived my teenage years in the 80's..........Priceless and I wouldn't change them for the world!
It seems like just yesterday it was 1987 and my friend and I were saying this is are last teenage summer and we need to live it up.I'm still living it up and enjoying every moment.
When I was little, my parents would play this song in the car *ALL* the time. So much in fact, I had the lyrics for this song memorized by the age of 3. Everything about it makes me feel like it's the most 80s song I've ever heard, and takes me back. This song always has a true place in my heart and is one of the greatest masterpieces ever written. Godspeed, Mark Hollis. We miss you.
Tim Pope is a genius of cinematography. Poetry and Image. Perfect video on a wonderful song. "It's My Life" is a anthem of 1980s. Talk Talk and Mark Hollis live forever.
Omg, this song literally puts me in tears, even though I'm not remotely close to being born in the 80s, I'm fifteen. This song is just so beautiful, It shows you how amazing mother nature Is.
It’s a masterpiece pop song. Highly recommend you to check out the entirety of Talk Talk’s discography.. all of their albums are sublime, the last two LP’s are absolutely spellbinding.
as an almost 70 guy I hated this pop synth shit -now seeing what is presented now , I now find this stuff tolerable and most decent -have I changed or have I been conditioned?
Why are tears rolling down my face? I guess it's the music and seeing all of God's amazing creations all around this beautiful blue planet. Thank you Father.and I'm sorry we've let you down. 😥❤
This was the first ever new wave album I bought back in 1985.... I was 12 years old and immediatly became addict of it. I litteraly worn it out listening endlessly to it. What a masterpiece and still is some 40 years later. Thank you Mark Hollis for the memorabilia. RIP
“ It’s my life- don’t you forget “ Such a powerful line & voice.. Talk Talk made the 80’s much better with their unique sound. R.I.P. Mark. Your music will always be here.
@James I didn't know that he'd gone, too. I was wishing they would do live, someday. Of course, the band had broke up and Mark had already left the music industry but still.‥was hoping to see them again.
Mark was way ahead of his time. This video is wonderful. Communicate without speaking. .Sing without singing. And what it communicates is pure life. Fucking genius Mark mate!
so far none of the generations after have been able to match the creativity and scope that was the 80's music scene. What lucky kids we were to be alive during the golden age of music.
Fell in love with this song as a kid, and again when Gwen Stefanie and No Doubt covered it. My God...decades later it STILL holds up and is a straight up banger of a song! The synths and bass are caved into my soul!!
It was pure magic. The best way to feel like you're still in the 80's is to live like nobody's watching. Let the joy emit from your heart and mind, and drown out today's negativity. Stay gold!
I like how this shows so many animals other than us. Along with the lyric, "It's my life. Don't you forget." How often we forget we share this planet with other animals, and that they have lives of their own that are as deserving of their lives as we are.
My youngest son died from an overdose recently. This is the song that was playing when I met his father in 1992. The lyric "funny how I find myself outliving you" hits me hard. Both my son and I suffered from opioid addiction for many years and for the life of me, I don't understand how I made it but he didn't. I'm sober now. But I wish to God every day that it had been me. He was brilliant, kind and sensitive and he should still be here now. All I can do is live my life each day, as hard as it is, in honor of him. I love you, Cameron, always. We will be together again. Shine on, my crazy diamond. 🕉
Done my cluck so many times I forgot..so I know your thoughts..lost my brother through smack ..this song always reminds me of the pair of us innocent in the 80s.. recently lost my mam..somehow this this song reminds me of her too.
I'm very sorry for the loss of your son, my heart breaks thinking of how I would cope with my son passing. I don't think I would have the strength to carry on. You're stronger than me.
Beautiful song with a good message made by a man ahead of his time. A great bass line and perfect lyrics. Definitely, one of the best songs in history that trascends any period!
This amazing song will forever remind me of my youth. I’m 50 now and I just can’t get enough of 80s music. I’ve turned a lot of my nieces and nephews onto 80s music and they love it.
This amazing singer is Mark Hollis. Born in the UK in 1955, he died in 2019, only 64 years old. What a pity this talent is no longer among us. I became a huge fan of Talk-Talk in 1982. Great melodies enhanced by super-cool beat was mesmerizing. I will forever cherish Mark's beautiful smile and the music he created.
One of the most beautiful songs of all times. We loved this song in the 80s. There used to be a place, called Ground Round. We went there after work, as late teens and young adults, until they closed their doors for good. When we pulled up, the waiting staff already knew us, and we had our pitcher of beer on the table when we came in, our wings on the table as well and this song on the jukebox. I recall, some of the wait staff referred to it as number 94 on the jukebox is already there for you guys. Amazing era of music, great song and amazing memories.
And I'll vouch for the fact that, for the mid-80s, it was a creative & truly memorable video too! 👍👍😎 p.s. Check out some of the amazing vids of Talk Talk in concert. Every song is even better than the album version. The concert at Montreaux is a great start. Also, the audio of the complete concert at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, England is epic (how I wish there was a complete video of that concert!).
It is very clear everyone here grew up in the 80's. You're here sat listening and thinking. The things you did or things you didn't get to... I love this song!!!
Sometimes at the end of a work day, before I make the drive home, I come here to listen to this song. It moved me 40 years ago and does still. Life can be bittersweet, but choose your own path and walk it. Amazing tune.

Everything about it makes me feel like it's the most 80s song I've ever heard, and takes me back. This song always has a true place in my heart and is one of the greatest masterpieces ever written.
