Those in the truth movement today are so fond of saying that this is a greatest time to be alive as we witness the great awakening, but I’d happily trade the rest of my life for a chance to relive the 80s. Now those were truly magical times. Who agrees?
This was the first music video I saw when MTV debuted back in '81. It's kooky, but upbeat and everyone in this video seems to be having a blast. The simplicity of the stage is also refreshing, unlike today's overblown productions.
My favourite genre is the 80s, as my Dad used to play it non-stop when I was a kid. Now that I've played it over the years, I've now got my nephew into the 80s. This is how the genre will never die!
Anyone around at the time will appreciate just how incredible the production was on this masterpiece of an album. Trevor Horn’s genius brought previously unheard layering, depth and clarity to the record which, together with the great work by the amazing Martin Fry and band, makes this an unassailable and unforgettable classic. Just sublime!
I was cleaning out my closet and found my bag of (45) records and this song was among them. Good tunes and great times of the 80’s. Yes I’m old and generation X.
How could I not like this? It's generational, Stephen. I preferred loud thumping rock from a powerful home or car stereo that a guy could toke up and bang his Betty to. This sort of music dripping out of my cheap $5 speaker in my 19" Hitachi TV made me think the next generation was "Light in their Sperry Top-Siders."
I just turned 54 today and I still love this music ...Big part of my life!!....I use to throw big underground warehouse parties back in the 80's in Los Angeles and this was the music we played!!!...New wave dance craze back then!!....Miss it!!!😪...D.
With all the crap that is going on in the states right now, I have to listen to the songs I grew up with from the 60s, 70s and 80s to keep me grounded.
I was 17 when this song was released in 1982. Although the video is silly (most 80s videos were silly), this song was an absolute masterpiece in its day. It's still a work of art. After all these decades, I still listen to ABC. Reminds me so much of my college years, the 1980s.
Oh I wish I could’ve grown up throughout this incredible decade. Tracks like this really embody just how inventive and fresh the music was. This is timeless

Memories of when I was 18 in 1982. Not only a fantastic song but the carnival atmosphere really worked here, ABC knew how to use the new media of music videos.
The quintessential early 80s song. Along with "Don't You Want Me," "Tainted Love," "Do You Really want to Hurt Me," "Do You Wanna Hold Me," "Ant Music," etc. etc. etc.
80's Nostalgia aside, listen to the lyrics and notice the delivery there is a deep profound feel and expression in this song and the quality of the video production, not to mention the musical genius.
Denise White, same here. I miss the '80s too, I was only 8 when this song came out and this music video came out with the song, and I've loved them both ever since.
If I had known how magical the 80s were when I was in them I would have embraced it more. Now I can never go back to those days but the memories live on in the wonderful music.
M and R Davidson Nowadays shit music from Kanye West. However we do have Adele. Just miss music, but now it is often hip hop, and none of the artist know about instruments because their music are just tracks from the computer or they don't know that music should also be uplifting.
For those of us that lived in the 80s, like myself, I don't think we completely understood how lucky we were to be alive, during the 80s decade. It was difficult to fully appreciate what we were experiencing, until several decades later. That's my thought. Yes, if I could time travel, I would definitely want to return to the 1980s.
I was born in 82 and I'm so thankful I got to love my childhood days during the 80's and 90's. I feel so blessed but at the same time so sad that I can't go back. I wish I had appreciated those times more.

This was the first music video I saw when MTV debuted back in '81. It's kooky, but upbeat and everyone in this video seems to be having a blast. The simplicity of the stage is also refreshing, unlike today's overblown productions.
And hey: there's one man in this music video who actually was in the first music video EVER AIRED on MTV. (1981)
@@PhilStrohhamster who?
@@TheKeeeks97 Trevor Horn from The Buggles.
@@PhilStrohhamster Thanks!
Agreed .. agreed .. agreed !!!!
If give anything to go back to the 80s!! College days were such a blast! 🎉😂❤
Man his vocals are off the chart
Actually after 38 years, Martin's vocals are still pretty good!
@@everybody21990 yes indeed.ll
You appreciate a beautiful voice you have a great eveningl
So glad I grew up during the Brit-pop invasion of the '80's. Nothing today even comes close to being this good!!!
Me too!!! British invasion was warmly welcome.
+plumeria66 yes it was
Misha Betts it was the second wave of the British invasion

Misha Betts .... let the good times roll.
I'm an 80s kid,now I'm 50 and still listen to the best music ever made in my opinion, the 80s loved it.
Yes dude I miss these days too I was 16 years old in 1982
Made by proper musicians in it for enjoyment and giving something back to public unlike music today

Soul of the 80's
I'm 56 and still like this song!
I do to and I am 65.
1984 was a happy year for me. Miss certain things now.
Lesson on life......never settle for second best!
I was 10 when this came out in '82 and I'm 52 now. Life was so much better in the 1980's than today.
I loved how these artists acted characters in their videos. 80’s had that that quirky and eccentric look! Classic tunes.
'sisters and brothers, should help each other' pulls on my heartstrings
mine also!
My favourite genre is the 80s, as my Dad used to play it non-stop when I was a kid. Now that I've played it over the years, I've now got my nephew into the 80s. This is how the genre will never die!
Yep, - The Brit Pop music of the 80’s and 90’s were some good music.. Gotta Love ❤️
Yes ma'am it was
40 years later , here we are still listening to the best music.
It was the best time in my live.
It was the best time in everyone’s life
This song takes me right back to being a teenager. Love it. Year 1982
I graduated 1985. Did a pom pom routine to this song. Loved ever since!
💚
Im. 51 today and that beat and voice still hits as hard❤
Trevor Horn is on this video at 3:13.
I was cleaning out my closet and found my bag of (45) records and this song was among them. Good tunes and great times of the 80’s. Yes I’m old and generation X.
yeah
Unbelievable singing, his golden voice can put a smile on anyone's face. Amazingly happy song.🌟💙💙💙🌟
As someone from Sheffield produced some awesome groups in the 80s what a classic.
So many great tunes in a time that was simply unbelievable.

The 80’s is UNMATCHED 😭❤️🔥💯💯💯
Yes sir
Seeing them next year with Howard Jones, can't wait! He still sounds incredible.
One of the songs that will always sound new. Been on my playlist for years now and never gets old.
This is the sound of good moving and get down music. How could you not like this?
My mother was born in the 70's , I'm glad she can show me song like this . I'm 14 year old
How could I not like this? It's generational, Stephen. I preferred loud thumping rock from a powerful home or car stereo that a guy could toke up and bang his Betty to. This sort of music dripping out of my cheap $5 speaker in my 19" Hitachi TV made me think the next generation was "Light in their Sperry Top-Siders."
@@IMCcanTWEESTED Exactly well said 🤚
80's...years of progress and happiness!!!!!❤️❤️❤️
I'm 62 and have heard a lot of music and seen a lot of videos. Nothing like the 80's! I love it!
Everything was new and fresh. So much variety everywhere you looked. It had something for everyone.
smhmay1973 you bet

I thought seventies were better xxxx
@The Bibliognost I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!! THE 60s 70s 80s were the BEST!!!!.
Needed a pick me up today so I tuned into this! Thank goodness for the 80’s❤😉
I just turned 54 today and I still love this music ...Big part of my life!!....I use to throw big underground warehouse parties back in the 80's in Los Angeles and this was the music we played!!!...New wave dance craze back then!!....Miss it!!!😪...D.
@Max Moss lol...thnx Max!...D.
What were the best tunes back then? The ones that got the best reactions in this genre and others??

I was 21 in 1980. Loved all the songs, but the 80s music style started in 1978 and ended in 1989.
@@davefranklyn7730 Hi, Dave.
I think the style ended in 1991.
( maybe in 1993).
With all the crap that is going on in the states right now, I have to listen to the songs I grew up with from the 60s, 70s and 80s to keep me grounded.
Yes, they told of happier days.
Amen ! I feel like Music is Fresh Air for the Soul ! Teaching my gran babes about this!! Dance in spite of the rants
So wonderfully 80’s. Good times and great music 👍
I’m 20 and Still loving this radical tune... absolutely jumping around to this masterpiece (Edit)
I was 17 when this song was released in 1982. Although the video is silly (most 80s videos were silly), this song was an absolute masterpiece in its day. It's still a work of art. After all these decades, I still listen to ABC. Reminds me so much of my college years, the 1980s.
I wasn't even alive then but I remember it when I was a kid. Appreciate it more now 🎶"the look of love.."🎶🎹
There is hope for your generation! The '80s had lots of cool music. Hope you discover more!
[GG]Ez ..I remember 1983 driving my 2002 , w a stereo beyond belief ....The Lexicon of Love ....great times
You have great taste in music buddy!!!
Oh I wish I could’ve grown up throughout this incredible decade. Tracks like this really embody just how inventive and fresh the music was. This is timeless
They were fun wonderful days for sure...we had so much fun
Well, you can at least live in the '80's vicariously by enjoying all those songs from then on YT!!!
I lived it, I clubbed it, greatest music ever, tons of nice girls, ...
where is that time machine ??
I grew up then. I was unbelievably spoiled. I had no idea at the time how special it was.
I went through my teenage years in the 80's. Fantastic time to be alive.

I spent a lot of time in the 80s. They were pretty cool.
Memories of when I was 18 in 1982. Not only a fantastic song but the carnival atmosphere really worked here, ABC knew how to use the new media of music videos.
I grew up in the 60's and 70's, awesome music decades, but I must say the 80' style is great too....
I was lucky enough to see ABC live in Manchester tonight, they did this twice and the crowd went wild. A fantastic song!

Went to ABC concert in Helsinki in 1983, still love this band.
Que genial canción. La letra, el ritmo, la voz de Martin. Una joya de la música.

Yep, best reply.
Like a lot of 80's music beyond the some of it's parts. Incredible value. Thank you!!
ABC is the best. These guys and Erasure - just doesn't get old. This video on the other hand was shot in typical 80's WTF style.
The Innocents, 1987 was their best.
"Respect" by Erasure , love that song as well!
Damn I was 17 years old when this song came out.
God I miss the 80s.
So was I
Denise White so was I 👍
Denise White, same here. I miss the '80s too, I was only 8 when this song came out and this music video came out with the song, and I've loved them both ever since.
Me too 😃
my current age😍!!
This song was massive.....a gold hit all over the world!!!!!!!
I love a band with a sense of humour. So many 80s bands took themselves far too seriously. This video is so much fun.
Anne Dudley's strings on this just make the whole record. Wouldn't be in the same category of classic music without them...
One of THE best 80's bands- Martin Frys' distinctive voice, great arrangments, orchestrations- The ABC 'sound'! X.
If I had known how magical the 80s were when I was in them I would have embraced it more. Now I can never go back to those days but the memories live on in the wonderful music.
For sure! If there was a "nexus" I'd want to put myself in the 80s and stay there!
I turned 10 in 1982. The 80s decade was really building momentum in 1982. Now that I'm able to look back. Miss the 80s so much!
I was about 10 when this came out. I used to wait for my oldest brother to go so I could play his records and Lexicon of Love was usually the first to go on
