Fun fact about the Grey Ghost episode in BTAS, what happens to Simon Trent (the actor who played grey ghost) happened to Adam West. In the story Simon is unable to work due to the fact that everybody still sees him has the Grey Ghost till Batman came and helped him. For Adam West after he finished playing Batman he had a lot of trouble getting work since everybody still saw him as Batman, (which is almost a forced early retirement for actors) this lead him to hate Batman till someone from BTAS reached out and asked him if he wanted to voice a character in the show, this is what got him into voice acting and saved his career. Just like in the show, Batman saved Adam West.
I actually liked what they did with the Character bios. Instead of having the Bios trying to explain who the characters were in the games, they explained who the characters were in the greater Batman comics universe, and why those characters are important. From that, you can then see how their characters were tweaked or altered to fit within the Arkham storyline.
Agreed. I liked that it was that way in Asylum and then recurring characters had small updates in their bios showing what they had been up to since the previous game(s) really great stuff
Always remember, Arkham Asylum was developed in celebration of 70 years of Batman. It was a love letter to the fans. While there were obviously plans for a sequel, Rocksteady couldn't have known if that would ever actually happen. Because there was no franchise yet, Asylum's character bios were intended as nothing more than Easter eggs for Batman fans.
Have not been this hyped in a long time. Making the Iceberg was a blast, seeing this video slowly turn into reality truly made all the effort worth it. And then to release it on the anniversary of Kevin Conroy's passing is meaningful and pays tribute to the legend himself. Thank you, ClownPuncher.
This stuff is amazing. Arkham games was a huge part of me when I was a kid, I beated City around 20 at least and I was always fascinated about how much of a detail was put into those games. 26:33 The theory I have for why the crime rate went down is because, to my knowledge, all the big-name villains were working together in preparation for the events of Arkham Knight. Basically, they would all agree to keep quiet and not draw any attention to themselves by becoming law-abiding citizens. They weren't reformed, they were just waiting for their time to strike.
Exactly. They were pooling their resources, drawing up a plan, and cutting back on unnecessary skirmishes. Especially since they were teaming up, there's no reason for them to fight each other on the streets while vying for power. The only reason to do that would be to maintain optics, but the cost probably outweighed any benefits. Let Batman and GCPD get lulled into a sense of false confidence, then hit them in one coordinated strike together. And technically it worked, the Batman "died" that night.
It's no theory, im replaying the game right now, the thugs outright say they invested their money on the arkham knight and they were waiting for the moment to strike and take over the city
38:33 Bruce telling Tim that Babs was alive is so funny to me because he sounds so uncaring in his delivery. Like “Barbara’s fine, stop crying about it Tim.”
The Scarab symbol is actually another reference to A Serious House. Not only does Amadeus' mother spit them out during the first few pages, they're seen as a symbol of rebirth, which lines up with the sheer breadth of occult references Grant Morrison puts into his work. So, the beetle being everywhere in Arkham is two-fold: the inmates being "rehabilitated", becoming new people (not that it ever was) and the other is Sharp's belief that he's possessed by Amadeus, a type of 'rebirth'. You also missed another Killing Joke reference; while chasing Scarecrow into the sewers of the Asylum, if you go up to the control area near where you beat all those thugs at the bottom of the lift, you'll find the "You don't have to be crazy to work here, but it helps." desk sign from the start of the comic. I'm not 100% sure but I think there's also an interview tape near it.
1:34:10 Clownpuncher, I have FOUND THIS IMAGE!!! It’s in Batman: Arkham Origins, specifically the mission where you infiltrate the GCPD. It’s literally in the next room that you enter after you perform the vent takedown on the guard (after overhearing Gordon talk about the assassins). Check it out and see for yourself!
@@Chrono-and-Co The irony that ClownPuncher’s videos got me wanting to play Arkham Origins again, which lead to this question being answered. It’s kinda beautiful if ya think about it
Guys you'll never guess what someone uploaded to UA-cam four months ago! A channel named The Arkham Knight uploaded about 3 minutes 41 seconds of Jimmy Fallon playing Arkham city. If you look up "DELETED batman: Arkham city demo footage" on UA-cam, it should be the first result.
"Jingle Bells, Batman smells..." was being sung well before Batman the Animated series. There's an article on the CBR website with a scanned newspaper clip from 1967 saying further that the song was around since at least 1966. The title of the article is "Jingle Bells, Batman Smells: The History of a Children's Classic"
As for the scarabs at 1:41:45 , scarabs represent rebirth and resurrection. It wasn't just linking Jason's death to the asylum, it was hinting at him still being alive
Hullabaloo! Rest in Peace Kevin Conroy. Whether people watched the animated series or played the Batman Arkham games, you were always the voice to stand out. You were and still are, The Batman.
@@4u2nvHock3yFacts. Kevin Conroy as Batman was the original “greatest casting ever” before RDJ as Iron man. He is literally Batman. Everybody else will always be a “place holder” to Kevin imo
I can attest Batman 100% laughs during the Cloudburst boss fight. It’s very easy to hear, usually happens when the fight itself takes a long time. But he will laugh… multiple times, actually.
Replayed knight recently, I wanted to see if it was real during the fight so I turned some of the volume settings down a little bit. Happened when I was running from the cloud burst and ran over a joker hallucination, was really cool to know it's actually a thing. Between that and batman fighting like joker later, seeing that mental decline of Bruce was one of my favorite parts of this replay.
Seeing kevin conroy at the very top of the ice berg, just warms my heart. The man really was the heart of nearly every batman product he was part of, alongside Mark Hammil, of course. RIP, kevin Conroy, Arleen Sorkin, and Richard Moll.
Another Idea to help explain the change is that after AC, Deadshot retired to take care of his daughter (from the ending of the Assault On Arkham movie) after coming to close death from Protocol 10 due to nearly getting hit by the missles (potentially from failing to kill Batman) and that the new Deadshot we see in SSKTJL is a friend of the OG Deadshot who took up the mantle
It’s funny because there was a second Deadshot briefly in the New 52 named Will Evans. So I don’t understand why Warner Bros wanted Rocksteady to conform to the DCEU’s brand synergy by race swapping Floyd, when Will (someone who was already black to begin with) already existed and Bloodsport would be more worthy of an adaption since he’s more recent/is in an actually good movie
@@chewymustard6426Always a way to swerve that little tidbit by making it to where he lied. Hell, take it a step further, especially with how they did Lawless. Make it to where he contacted the OG, and they agreed to fake the OG's death so he could retire and spend time with his daughter cause he was looking for an out ever since protocol 10 nearly killed him.
Just to put it out there, the chalkboard with the nod to Selina being a Falcone, is from Arkham Origins. It's visible within the GCPD Precinct, tucked away in one of the smaller office rooms you make your way through after entering the building from the rooftop.
Thank you for including my clip. Batman laughing was 100% legit, it was only something that's really noticeable when you turn off all the other audio sound effects. Try it out for yourself!
Okay, on the Deadshot point, I think maybe it could be better if the "real one" was the one in AO and AC, but the new guy was simply taking up the mantle. Consider Ra's, another assassin. Ra's wanted Batman to kill him to take the mantle, so maybe this new Deadshot did something like that.
I'd much prefer that over saying the OG one with a decade-long career was the fake, but I almost think I'd prefer them just admitting it's a retcon to his appearance. It wouldn't be the first time. Gordon's infamous for it, Joker in Origins, Poison Ivy in Knight, and frankly the entire series losing it's distinct art style in favor of almost absolute realism going into Knight. I do wonder if the fake-Deadshot thing is actually going to be something in the game, or if it was just a quick little thing some dev or promoter thought up to explain the change.
Hate to say it but these things are definitely 100% about race and nothing else. Worse part about this is the companies behind the decisions will pretend it has to with inclusivity and diversity but that's also bollocks, the only reason they do this are articles, sales and causing controversy for cloud. Making pretty much everyone in this ordeal kind of a douche. Pretty sure they tried the same thing with Aragorn (I think) from Lord Of The Rings. Personally I only accept the originals as the real deal and not sloppy seconds forced into the story, which I can only assume people from other ethnicities with a bit of dignity would also not accept.
Even something as simple as the new Deadshot being a protege taking up the mantle after the previous one got out of the game would be fine. Super simple and could even lead into its own interesting subplots should they desire.
I heard the chuckle during the Cloudburst fight and chocked it up to Mark doing another extra Joker thing but way more personally. I didn’t realize that could possibly have been Kevin. Edit: HULLABALOO
In the section about The Killing Joke you could have mentioned at the end of AK when Joker is controlling the Batmobile. After you overcharge the secondary weapons it tells you to fire “The Killing Joke”
They lean so hard on that storyline that something like an attack clearly labeled Killing Joke is just pointing out the clown nose on the clown. Time is better spent discussing Jason, Barbara, Jim and the effects that night had on them as well as Batman.
Hullabaloo, mate. Man, these 2 iceberg videos were amazing. The amount of details that these games have are insane. One thing I would really love to see leak online is a prototype build of arkham knight to fully see the early concepts and ideas for this game, considering that it's the one with the most cut content.
The most likely reason for Arkham inmates not wearing any shoes is the electrified flooring placed in some of the cells. It still shocks Batman not because he's secretly shoeless but because the power is amplified by Harley, the lack of shoes on the inmates is probably for better conduction into the inmates. Or all the guards just like feet.. i guess.
That and plenty of irl mental health facilities have the inmates wear socks or soft slippers. Hard shoes are easy to use as a weapon, so in Arkham I can imagine the staff deciding not to allow their patients to have ANY shoes. I mean if anyone could turn a grippy sock or cloth slipper into a weapon, it's someone like Joker.
I always thought they never wore shoes in asylum because of the ground based control methods like the shock panels in the penitentiary. As well as it being the criminally insane, they could hide things in hidden compartments in shoes.
46:32 in regards to King Bat. Maybe it is an indirect reference to Batman Forever movie where Young Bruce encoutered a Bat for the first time. (More likely, the deleted scene version of it because it indicates that Bruce overcoming or facing his fear)
2:15:02 Idk if anyone has caught this already but the 'catch me later, I'll buy you a beer' line I'm pretty sure is a reference to Half Life. It's a line that the guards use in the original that Barney calls back to in Half Life 2 when he's introduced.
Awesome video! I've been playing these games for the last 12 years and I barely knew half of this stuff. I still vividly remember racing home from school on October 25, 2013 and eagerly anticipating playing Batman: Arkham Origins on release day. Keep up the good work, ClownPuncher and Hullaballoo!
As much as I love Robin's reaction to the news of Babara being alive or Bruce subcoming to Joker's blood, it's also very funny how Kevin Conroy's delivery just being so nonchalant about it Pre: "Tim, there's aomething that I have to tell you... it's Barbara, she's dead. I'm so sorry... Post: "Oh I found Babara, she's fine" That gave me a massive laugh lol
I think each jingle in the games fits the most dangerous person to inmates/Gothamites in that situation The asylum chime feels like a catchy jingle for inmates to give a false sense of safety like sharp in a sense Strange’s chime is like a dark version of the asylum chime which fits how twisted strange is compared to sharp The scarecrow whistle is a sudden chill down your spine that definitively reflects how crane is in knight
The stud is amazing. I’ve been listening to this while I play through my second time of our commentate, which is my favorite one, and I love your videos.
There’s something you missed out on while discussing other characters in free roam. In Knight, there’s an alternative method you can do in the map “Rise and Shine”. Two technically. Grapple gun characters can go to the lowest area and climb onto a ladder and clip outside of the map boundaries with that. It can be inconsistent, but it’s incredibly easy, especially for those who do not wish to master zips. The second method can be a pain and is the only one that Catwoman and Harley can do. Go to the monorail platform and walk towards the station you lower the bridge from Bleake Island to Miagani Island on. There’s a bit you can crouch walk on in the middle. If you get the positioning and timing right, you should successfully clip outside the wall. Slamming unconscious thugs: You can always do this after knocking thugs out. You just need to do the quickfire input for the REC. Lunatics: Another minor detail, but you could see the hanging bodies and possibly corpses of the lunatics in Wonder City after Bruce coughs up some blood and your max health is lowered for a second time. AA suit cape damage in Arkham Knight: They still haven’t fixed it lmfao
It amazes me that this game has so many secrets that you had to create two separate icebergs, goes to show how much love and care rocksteady put into the Arkham games.
I love the passion you have for the entire Arkham franchise. I'm a huge fan of the games and after discovering your content have started to make replay from start to finish a yearly event to keep the games alive for me. Thank you for the effort and time you put into your content. This community would not be the same without your contributions.
Hullabaloo! Honestly I loved Arkham Asylum intercom chime enough to make it my notifications sounds, so when you played it I thought I received message
This was awesome! loved that you took the time to make this dude! also nice idea on the "you will become as one" theory, it makes sense as it is close to the alleyway where the demon first appears!
The nightwing appearing out of thin air reminded me that, One time I completed one of the penguin's missions in arkham knight, and then a second nightwing appeared out of nowhere, and just vibed with the another nightwing
One theory that I only came up with the past few weeks is that Arkham was one of the many universes changed by Flashpoint. The story came out a couple months before City and it could explain a couple inconsistencies like some bios, audio tapes and bios designs not matching up and the sequels being (slightly) less cartoony than Asylum.
Actual good arkham content, has been hard to find nowadays, and I've always appreciated this channel for that. Props on this video cause as a long time arkham fan, learning more about the games in the more obscure entries was awesome. Also Hullaballoo
I had to space out my viewing of this cinema-length video, but now that I finished watching it I gotta say you, OrangeBrot, and Derpston did a great job piecing together loads of obscure Arkham info into one big spot. Hullaballoo/10

Hullaballoo! 🎉 Also excellent work on this video. Brings me back to when I was a kid watching clips of the pregnancy test in City. The series has such a good, disturbing atmosphere, and I love that Rocksteady trusted their playerbase to peice certain details together. You've outdone yourself Mr. Puncher!
47:13 Another reference is during the finale of Arkham Knight, when you're in the Jokermobile, the prompt to shoot a bunch of missiles is called "The Killing Joke." Wonder where they got that from.
Arkham Asylum and the franchise as a whole really helped me in a dark part of my life. I never tire of learning more about the franchise so thank you for your hard work.
What an amazing video was fun to watch and see all the new discoveries. Thank you so much clownpuncher for including my footage in the iceberg been a fan of your content.
Wish the tyger guards had the detective mode tracker because I believe if they did and saw he was behind them they wouldn’t speak then just fire behind them to get you instead of freaking out or just turn around all cocky and mock Batman before firing
Hullaballoo! At first I didn’t know pop culture “icebergs” were a thing and thought the first video was an explanation of the Iceberg Lounge in AC or something😂 I thoroughly enjoyed both parts to these videos, great work my friend!
3 hours long huh? Time to get comfy. Edit: just watched it ALL, amazing to still be learning stuff about this series. Thank you for the amazing video, Hullaballoo!

The Arkham series is, by far, one of my favorite video game franchises to date. There's so much love put into the games and with the easter eggs, fun content, and generally amazing fights it just comes to show that Batman Arkham Asylum truly paved the way for superhero games and general fighting mechanics in future titles. Cheers to the Dark Knight; may he continue foreward.
I'm relatively new to the Arkham series so it is really awesome to watch you covering the ice berg and learning so many different facts and other things related to it! Hullaballoo!
Corey Burton is also the Christopher Lee sound-alike in the Kingdom Hearts series, picking up the voice for Lee's character (Ansem the Wise) after the character's debut in KH2.
I don’t know if anyone’s said this, but “catch me later and I’ll buy you a beer” is probably a reference to what some security guards say in the original half-life game
Great way to remember Kevin conroy by releasing this on the 1 year anniversary since he’s passed. I will always remember him. He was a big part of my childhood.
For the slamming enemy into the ground in Arkham knight when you knock an enemy out click RT+B the same way you pick an enemy up to do a criticalbeat down
I know this is old, and no one might see this, but whatever. The reason you couldn't find the video, (the game theory one) is because the video was unlisted when Austin left the channel. This was because he made the video. I remember watching the video too, and it's probably still on a playlist. If no one still can't find it, then it was probably deleted.
I feel like it would make sense if jokers one rule was no one gets to unmask Batman because of how upset he gets when people bring it up or when it happens sometimes
Great Video as per usual, really wished they bring back the series for the time between Origins and Asylum, there’s a good 9ish years unexplored. Also didn’t know the speed run strat for Grundy, surprised the fact he’s weak to electricity in Blackgate wasn’t in the iceberg. Overall it was awesome, Hullabaloo! 🦇🃏
Easily the hardest part of the I am the Night mode is Bane's 2nd boss fight. Before playing this mode I'd always die on the 2nd phase because i just took to much damage on the 1st phase. But man actually beating the mode felt so fulfilling.

Hullabaloo😂 Btw great vid i love these long icebergs and I’ve been a fan of Arkham since I was 8! Glad to see someone who shares the same affinity for the Arkham series
Personally, I always interpret ras dying as the true ending because I feel like with everything that’s happened that night, he wanted Gotham to be the most safest it’s ever been before he’s gone. and not only that, I feel like it makes the ending a lot stronger that Batman finally breaks his number one rule right before the end of basically his whole Batman career and pulling the plug, it actually feels like a great finale. Personally, I believe the reason why, with joker he was willing to save him was because he would still be there to stop him, but in this case, I feel like he’s not gonna be there to stop ra’s Al ghul so obviously it would make the most sense for the safety of Gotham if he unfortunately kills him. It’s also important to take into account that in Arkham city he was the reason why protocol 10 happened in the first place because he helped Hugo strange make it a reality and they killed a lot of people that day when that plan went into action so it’s safe to say he is a threat Ras Al goul. And let’s not forget the fact that the Lazarus pit is slowly turning him into a zombie and slowly turning him insane, which would make him more violent and more likely to want power, which would mean that if Batman wasn’t there, he would start to want to take over Gotham eventually for all we know. And here’s my biggest point, remember when Batman was completely willing to kill Solomon Grundy? He literally punched his heart out of his chest to kill him, so that begs the question, why would he kill Solomon Grundy if he’s technically alive? Shouldn’t he not kill him either technically? But then I believe someone said that he basically doesn’t kill anybody who isn’t a monster or undead, which would make sense because he’s already dead right? So if you really think about it, Batman killing ras al goul at this point, would actually make sense, because ras was supposed to be dead a long time, but he kept using the pit over and over again to cheat death, but as a result of this, he started to slowly go insane, and slowly started to become more monstrous overtime, which means ras al goul is undead and as shown in the DLC also monstrous and slowly losing his mind. Hell he can barely form a coherent sentence which already should tell you that he is slowly losing it and it doesn’t help that he looks like an undead corpse. So I think it would make sense that Batman would see now that by letting him go, he’s potentially putting all of the people in Gotham’s lives at risk in the future. So I think that just makes it even more valid for him to do what he did. and the last thing I’d like to bring up is the choice that you can make is Catwoman to leave Batman to die or save him. Now I get that it’s not Canon, but it gives you a good idea what would happen if Batman failed to stop joker, if you leave Batman to die, it shows you an end credit scene and you can hear Oracle in the background calling for help as joker is way too powerful and is basically taking over Gotham and who knows the world at that point, and they are literally unstoppable. The reason why I bring this up is because it just shows you how dangerous the Lazarus pit actually is and how deadly it can be in the wrong hands, and ras is one of them. For we know he might start putting all of his assassin league in the pit two to make them as powerful as him who knows and that’s why it’s important to take into account. Here’s a bonus one: I get the bat family exists, but they don’t know the assassin league the way, Batman does. In the two-faced DLC, we see that Robin almost gets killed by two face so we know he’s not perfect and can definitely make a mistake. As for the others like I said, they much don’t how dangerous the assassin league actually are, and don’t understand how powerful they are they could easily get killed off all we know, so make a lot of sense for Batman to save them to trouble and get rid of them especially when he doesn’t have a choice if you really think about it. But that’s just my reasoning you can believe it but I personally think it’s more poetic that it goes out this way, and it definitely makes a lot of sense considering the following .
So here’s my theory on the whole dead shot situation - Maybe the original (black) dead shot was basically a fossil, old and retired, so some other dude decided to take over and claimed himself as the “new” Deadshot. Being replaced would piss off anyone so the original deadshot decided to off the faker and take over in SSKTJL Hullabaloo!
Here's a better idea the og Deadshot is the same as he always depicted and the new one is just like how they got joker in the new game. I mean come on they jump though so many hoops to try and force an unneeded change and not to mention all of the other stupid things they "fix" and "retcon" and as far as I'm concerned that game isn't cannon to the Arkham saga of games. Just an elseworlds story with poorly handled everything.

Nah, because I burst out laughing first time I heard it because it's such a contrast from him tell Tim she's dead 😂😂
2:14:33 the whole "catch me later and ill buy you a beer" is a reference to a line said in the first half life game by many of the security staff

The Cloudburst laugh is real, but only occurs when you run over a hallucination, not just in that boss battle

As a child growing up in the 1970's, we all sang that song with the final words. It spread organically.
As for the scarabs at 1:41:45 , scarabs represent rebirth and resurrection. It wasn't just linking Jason's death to the asylum, it was hinting at him still being alive

He also laughs in Arkham Asylum if you fall into Joker Venom or fail to disarm Harley’s Joker Venom bombs.
I heard it, but the tank fucking blasted me after it so I was more angry than surprised. That fucking fight is horrible

You see, that would make sense and actually be awesome.

The AOA movie isnt cannon from what I heard. People were asking the devs in discord and were told it wasnt. Its just a movie now.

@@TristenSarelvunthat'd be great, having a situation where the one we already know shows up and there's a big shoot out or something

Man, these 2 iceberg videos were amazing. The amount of details that these games have are insane. One thing I would really love to see leak online is a prototype build of arkham knight to fully see the early concepts and ideas for this game, considering that it's the one with the most cut content.
For the Jimmy Fallon episode, there is a funny clip of him grappling and going "OH GRAPPLING HOOK!!"
wow really
Rest In Peace Kevin, your legacy will live on forever

Post: "Oh I found Babara, she's fine"

I think each jingle in the games fits the most dangerous person to inmates/Gothamites in that situation
The asylum chime feels like a catchy jingle for inmates to give a false sense of safety like sharp in a sense
Strange’s chime is like a dark version of the asylum chime which fits how twisted strange is compared to sharp
The scarecrow whistle is a sudden chill down your spine that definitively reflects how crane is in knight

This was awesome! loved that you took the time to make this dude! also nice idea on the "you will become as one" theory, it makes sense as it is close to the alleyway where the demon first appears!
The nightwing appearing out of thin air reminded me that,
One time I completed one of the penguin's missions in arkham knight, and then a second nightwing appeared out of nowhere, and just vibed with the another nightwing
Thats a really great idea and would explain a lot of those inconsistencies

8:59 I think knight didn't let facial hair grow because it would block the image of the black veins on his face during story mode
So here’s my theory on the whole dead shot situation -
Maybe the original (black) dead shot was basically a fossil, old and retired, so some other dude decided to take over and claimed himself as the “new” Deadshot. Being replaced would piss off anyone so the original deadshot decided to off the faker and take over in SSKTJL
Hullabaloo!
And then Jeff Bezos

Here's a better idea the og Deadshot is the same as he always depicted and the new one is just like how they got joker in the new game. I mean come on they jump though so many hoops to try and force an unneeded change and not to mention all of the other stupid things they "fix" and "retcon" and as far as I'm concerned that game isn't cannon to the Arkham saga of games. Just an elseworlds story with poorly handled everything.
