I don’t listen to Yngwie all that much, but he’s a blast to see live. He had the wall last time, but I’m pretty sure only two heads and cabs were actually off standby.
Yeah. I don't remember a version of Yngwie that is personable or has a sense of humor. Great little rig tour! Wish he would have played a little. Curious what his current rig sounds like. Tons of videos of him playing on youtube. But they tend to be quite old.
Malmsteen is awesome doing it his own way! Good on him, a true talent on guitar amazing songs that only he could write in this style. Great to see the wall of Marshalls
@@hollywoodactress idk if you have since youve commented this but watch his right hand in his live show in the 80s its insane his picking hand moves so minimally and just fluid its like magic
years ago, around 2002, I saw him at the Astoria in London, and his babysitter for Antonio just disappeared.. my other half at the time was left to look after him.. she picked him up and was putting coins in the jackpot slot machines for him to play on.. Inga, Yngwies aunt, came and saw that we were looking after him, gave us 50 quid for a cab home, and I got to meet Yngwie. I have to say, he got to see me play one of his guitars, and was very complimentary, we chatted for a good 30 minutes or more, until the venue had to kick him out. say what you like about him, he is a very humble, down to earth guy, but he has an unshakeable resolve and determination and self belief. I've seen this before with high ranking management and successful people from all walks of life. he really does love playing guitar, but more importantly, he was a really great guy that night. I was a fan before, I got to tell him what his playing meant to me, and I came away feeling that I'd met one of my guitar heroes and all was good. It's a shame instrumental rock guitar, and shred guitar has that competitive bitchy-ness about it, I'm sure Yngwie gets affect by the negative press just as much as anyone else would..
YJM’s life on 10. More is more. Rush thought with More is more too. Guitar legend. Want to see him in an interview with his family someday though....”this is the Yngwie J Malmsteen signature child along with my signature wife. My signature wife and I worked very hard to get the signature child just right down to the individual hairs and everything.” Sweetwater - how old is he? YJM - “ he is on 10 like my amps and pedals”
That's Nick Bowcott former guitarist of Grim Reaper. He used to work for Fender in Phoenix, AZ. A friend of mine used to work there too and gave me a tour. He introduced me to Nick while I was there and I had pictures taken with him. He couldn't have been any nicer.
I saw him in concert 5 times. He had 6 full stacks sometimes, and one time he had 10 stacks, in a huge club in Sauget Illinois called Pop's that is open 24 hours a day. Blistering loud for sure.
This reminded me the Armin Amzarian episode of the Simpsons: -"This is Armin's apartment, Armin's liquor, Armin's copy of swank... Armin's frozen peas" -This is the YM Fender Stratocaster, the YM strap, Malmsteen's strings, Yngwie Malmsteen overdrive pedal...and so on.
I know people dislike him. I love his honesty. I love how he calls the noiseless pickups humbuckers. They label them as single coils. Even the fender noiseless. They are not single coils. They are double stacked and can be coil tapped. He just broke the false advertisement lol. Yes they are voiced like a single coil for all you gear junkies that will dislike my comment.
to be fair if he had played with all those 100w Marshalls, with everything on ten then that poor interviewer would have been killed from the sheer volume, Yngwie has built up a tolerance to it over the years like with snake bites.
how is he running his delays? instrument level into the front end of a crunchy marshall? that will sound horrific? an amazing player, but how is he using the delays? unless he is using the effects loop of his YJM heads? that's the one little bit of info he almost always leaves out. :D
delay running into a crunchy marshall can't be clean though? I know what you're saying, but even a single repeat will make the delays trip into each other causing horrific distortion.. or maybe he doesnt care about the delays doing this? I appreciate the reply thank you.
4:49...he says this duck guitar replica is of the guitar on the cover of his first album (Rising Force), but it was a different guitar. You can see this duck body used in the Japan 1985 concert with a lefty rosewood neck, while the rising Force guitar had the play loud sticker and deeper scallop than his one. I is like he has convinced himself it is the same guitar (Rising Force guitar was destroyed) cuz he put a copy sticker on the Duck body.
the moog/bass,taurus pedals like old hammond organ guys used..like geddy uses when playing keys..yngwie uses them to make a droning note while he solos over the pedal note.
I remember reading an interview decades ago of him saying how the original Rising Force Strat broke on a gig on time when he threw it up in the air at the end of the last tune, and the stage lights went out when it was in the air, so he couldn't catch it and it smashed up as it hit the stage floor.
If you look close enough you'll see that none of the amplifiers have anything feeding the inputs on the front un less they were going through the return in the back of the amplifiers which would bypass the preamp section and just be using the power section of the amp.

How did Nick not know Yngwie’s pickups were humbucking? Certainly Nick had to cross paths or at least similar circles as with/as Yngwie in the '80's. The string gauges still seem like they'd feel unbalanced to me. .008-.014 tuned a half-step down would feel like overcooked angel hair pasta to me, although the wound strings would feel nice.

Only 2 things visible from Space, The Great Wall Of China, & YJMs Wall Of Marshalls
Rick VH It’s just a myth that The Great Wall Of China is visible from space. Yngwie’s wall of Marshalls, though....
This is the loudest wall yet
dont forget his ego
Yngwie has become a much more down to earth guy in recent years. Alcohol and hard drugs doesn’t emphasize people’s good sides.

He never did hard drugs, he was just an alcoholic. Well you can kinda say alcohol is a hard drug..
But alcohol is a downer, so it probably made him more bitter and less happy.
He's clearly Blapped in this interview, didn't you notice?
@@bwgti Yah but I think he has used that same rig forever.

Talk about fret buzz on an unscalloped fretboard!
