Strat Sessions ft. Yngwie Malmsteen | Year Of The Strat | Fender
/ fender
Let’s forget about Yngwie’s speed for a second, and marvel at his beautiful intonation on bends and vibrato.
Violin tone.
I applaud u for recognizing it,most people just dont have the ear for it yngwie is a absolut master at that too
yeah his vibrato at :30 sounds amazing, and he's not even doing it! incredible.
EXACTLY. It the first thing that I hear when I listen his songs! Whatta a vibrato and bends...
Caught jerkin’ in the wild to Bluez
The older I get, the more I get Yngwie. He’s really passionate about what he likes. Thats awesome.
Not so passionate about donuts tho
He don't like donuts
It radiates when he plays 🎸
He seems like he's chilled out a bit as he's aged, as well. He seems more down to earth in more recent interviews.
Just don't give him a fucking donut
You can tell by the spark in his eyes when he talks about the '54, he's totally in love with this thing. That already makes him a winner. No matter what people think of him or his music or whatever - the fact that he's kept the same excitement for his Fenders and for playing the way he does just makes him a winner at life. It's so hard to stay spirited and passionate in life. Nobody can do it. Some people can.
I still get chills every time I hear the main theme on Black Star.
Yngwie is a guitar legend!
It's pure magic
I have to say that I think Yngwie looks much healthier and more focused than ever before.
He´s got a new sparkle in his eyes I haven´t seen in years and that´s awesome.
An absolute legend. Original. Uncompromising. Brilliant.
Couldn't have said it better
His playing always stops me dead in my tracks. So melodic and beautiful.
When he plays, we listen 🤘
I met and still have the guitar pick Yngwie gave me after a gig in 85. I met him and Jens that night. Both took the time to spend time with the half a dozen of us that hung around at 2 in the morning. A middle of the summer gig that the walls of the club sweated. Yngwie poured Heineken on us that were down in front. They threw a towel over Jen's head, and he played flawlessly blinded. We stood there dumbfounded by what we saw and heard. One hell of a night I will never forget. "Rising Force" is an album that shaped my own playing back then and is just as powerful today as it was then. He is my "Hendrix" of my generation.
Ive ran into this guy so many times around Miami, so cool to have a living legend hanging out around town
I hope he's OK after you've 'ran into' him
I guess that's the consolation prize for having to live in Florida
He looks like a Florida man
@@851852093114208513 I wish more people thought like you... and left! everyone moved to Florida and Texas post pandemic to flee democrat run cities, crime, and high taxes.
why lie
Yngwie Malmsteen - The Living Legend🤘
🤘🏽
The best advertisement for Fender ever!
He knows Fender guitar models like some car enthusiasts I know. They can tell you every little detail about the cars like Yngwie can tell about the strats. He found his sound and his perfect instrument early on in his career and he's stayed with them ever since! Kudos to him for staying true to himself and not changing with the fads.
@@rickschneider3887you should hear him talk about Ferraris. The guys a savant.
We love you Yngwie ....Ultimate strat Hero ....up there with Jimi, Ritchie, SRV, J.Beck, Eric Johnson and Clapton!
This Guy is the best I have seen,
his playing technique and music knowledge……
His style is not my cup of tea, but you have
to recognise that he knows his trade at
a level that no one else can touch him.
Dude is so happy about guitars, it's amazing.
Legend! There will never be another one like him. So many imitators so many jealous people but no matter what he keeps thriving, He is so popular now 2024 way to go legend!
Yngwie is one of the last true rock stars livin and breathin. We all fell in love with guitar because of people like him. Respect.
I love Yngwie. He's not only a technical master, his feel is incredible. His bends, vibrato, pick attack, bends etc, they are all superb.
but what about his bends?
Yngwie Is The Man! What A Fantastic Player
The once and forever Maestro. He took all of his musical influences and created an alchemy that’s still mind blowing today.
Fender guitars, Ferraris and Rolexes 🔥 Can’t go wrong with any of that ! Yngwie is a legend
…and Marshall amplifiers YJM 100
Yeah, what a living legend
The man, the legend, the strat ❤❤❤❤
The older I get, the more I resonate with YJM for his accomplishments. The dude is a legend! People hate on him so much out of jealousy and it's uncalled for.
Well, people also dislike him for abusing copyright strikes on youtube against small youtubers…
Also because he is such a ego maniac and only an average player or that the is Mr arpeggio and never plays sweeps
@@optioningthabears861 You have absolutely no musical ear if you think yngwie is an "average player" , stop being jealous and go practice ...
Relating criticism with jealousy is a red flag for our own artistic development. If it comes from a good place, criticism can help us grow and get better.
Yep,, unfortunately I've been around a lot of Rock Stars who have HUGE EGOS problems,it's sad,,, EXPECIALLY for the fans.
Yngwie, my man. Never change. 🔥🔥🔥
Yngwie is the ultimate guitar hero, and probably among the greatest ambassadors for the Stratocaster there is. I’m so glad you guys put this together 🤘🏻
He’s still shredding!
To this day no one can match Yngwie, such a legend glad to see he's still rocking.
So true, he’s unmatched!
Damn... this video makes me emotional, how Yngwie is passionated, we are lucky to be into an era where this man lives. So much dedication to his art, it only can inspire all of us to be in this mental way of thinking. Human can be the worst thing in the world but Yngwie you show us how human can be the greatest thing in the universe. You are touched by the grace of God and this light come back to us through you. From the heart, thank you.
The BEST of The Best 🎸
Let's not forget that Yngwie is also responsible for the vertical design of hum-canceling single coil pickups.
He really is channeling amazing ideas into this world.
I will never forget when ynwie threw a pick n hit my chest I was with my dad in ventura theatre best night ever will never forget it! I still have the pick too!!!!
Coolest guy on planet earth. This man just breathes Rock and Roll
What a legend.
The best player in the world to me. You either get it or you don't! Thank you Yngwie, you literally changed me life
This is the most coherent and impressive portrait of Yngwie in decades. Excellent work, Fender. Beautifully shot!
Yngwie gave us a free history class on Strats
A living legend in electric guitar,as big an icon as Hendrix and Van Halen👍🏼
Yngwie is almost in a category of his own. The neoclassical style is amazing and to my knowledge theres nobody else at his level within the genre. Amazing!
Michael James Romeo probably qualifies, although Yngwie is the undisputed OG.
I might throw paul Gilbert in there
All I can say is the Yngwie Fender "scalloped" Strat, is the BEST Stratocaster in my collection.👌 It's so amazing to play, you can feel how Yngwie feels with it, the Maple neck and scalloped fretboard is like no other.🤘 I could not ask for more. If there's only one suggestion or request I would like to add is, please add another Fret to make it 22, because sometimes I can't use it on other songs with a solo reaching for 22 frets. (Yeah, bending is great, but that one fret is better.)🔥
*YNGWIE MALMSTEEN* is the Best and my favorite guitarist EVER.🎸
"I could not ask for more."
Next sentence
"If there's only one suggestion or request I would like to add..."
You asked for more. 😅
@@TavisAllen Haha, asking is different from suggestion. I mean, I'm already content for what it is. A "suggestion" is making room for improvement. Just like making the "better" the "best".😉
Yngwie Malmsteen's SOLD OUT Show is in Tokyo today got my tickets 🎸⭐
And listen to those versions of Far Beyond The Sun and Black Star in the background ! Still magical after all these years 🙌
Truly timeless ❤🔥
he is the living definition of more is more !!!!!!!!!!!!
So that's how Govan got that shred to high fret bending move. Yngwie started it back then with Far Beyond The Sun. Amazing inspiration for everyone, Mr. Malmsteen.
This man inspired so many over the years...some can treat him like a meme, but for me the most influential guitarrist in rock and metal after EVH.
Hardly any guitarist ever talks about his guitars or rather doesn't know them as well as he does!!
A Genius, a Master, a Visionary, a timeless guitarist, no man will ever play a guitar like him again, thanks to him my passion for the guitar and his talent pushes me to play like him every day.
Thank God for your talent.
Top twenty all-time no doubt 🎸🔥🔥🔥
@4:25 that is the most beautiful I’ve heard Yngwie play this part of far beyond the sun in a long time.
A lot of love for Yngwie showing his toys for us!
I'm country and blues fullpower player but i love the Yngwie stuff...and great bunch of Strats
The black star performance is the best I’ve heard him play it in some time too. It literally felt like I was hearing it for the first time again 🎸 🔥
I agree these were very good performances of both songs.
Yngwie one of my all tme fav guitarist!!! The Apeggio master!! A rock n' roll living legend!! What an amazing collection of geetars!! Rock on!!!
this man has been living and breathing guitar since he was but a kid, without compromise, through tragedies and heckling, depression, changing trends, and yet here he is, towering above the most, after all these years.
i have never heard anyone anywhere near his level of virtuosity criticise his skills. steve vai, tosin abasi, zakk wylde, etc. all testify and remind us in unison that yngwie is a true original in the pantheon of the very greatest artists to have ever picked up an electric guitar.
forever may he shred.
An extremely inspirational guitarist. The older I get and the more I’ve played the more I appreciate and love yngwie. Thanks for this video.
Not my favourite genre of music by any stretch, but I appreciate the virtuosity. What I really do love in this video, is Yngwie’s absolute geek-out and love of Strats
Its design is as revolutionary today as it was 70 years ago. He's right!
Yngwie is great, and what an ambassador he is for Fender (The Strat especially), you can tell he absolutely adores the Strat. Thanks Fender!
I have always liked Malmsteen; from the first time I heard him in the 80s until the present. He is an absolute guitar genius. He plays with passion, and his music / style of music has no equal. Say what you want about his personality it doesn’t matter, what does matter is that the man can play his guitar. He has weathered the storm in a business that has seen a lot of professional guitar greats for what ever reason come and go. He is still here, and he is still inspiring future guitarist with his talent and music.
GREATEST GUITARRIST OF ALL TIME!
Legend! He deserves all the respect for reinventing guitar and he plays with such intonation and feel that is rare among shred guitarists. 🎸🎶
Filming this in his property is just perfect :)
The passion and knowledge Yngwie has for Strats is brilliant 👏🏼
Still amuses me after 40 years listening him for the first time. Music Legend.
Yngwie is a living legend
A legend indeed.
He is not just a guitar player but a collector as well. His knowledge about Fender history is mind blowing..
Yeah I love Yngwie a ton and appreciate his tone and legato.
Awesome video! Props to Fender for keeping up the partnership with Yngwie, a great ambassador of Leo’s original design. He took that original platform and smoked everyone playing a superstrat with it.
He’s my favorite player, though I’ll never play like him, its so damn inspiring, the melodies, the compositions, the insane vibrato, the bends and the fluidity. He invented neo classical shredding. And I love, love RR, huge Randy fan but just wow how Yngwie turned the electric guitar into a violin. Its on another level. There was no template for what he did, he invented it.
He’s still the high water mark for me. The tone! Its just insane.
Many years from now history will record how he is one of the top 3-4 most influential players ever.
… And that’s my Ted Talk
Kind of dope that all his guitars are so similar. Kind of like his sound, he found what he liked and hasn't worried about switching it up.
Like Uncle Ben said, "there is the right way, the wrong way, and there is the Yngwie!" More is more!!
Damn Yngwie really love his strat's :p
What an amazing history lesson here from a legendary guitar player!!
Awesome video! The greatest guitarist alive.period. And one of the coolest strat ever made!
Absolute legend!
Yngwie changed the game. He was the guitar god during his era. I'm sceptical of his playing these days and the playing/writing on the last few albums, but nothing can take away from what he achieved in his early career. I appriciate him as much as I do Paganini, Mozart, 2pac, Billy Strings, Randy Rhoads. Whoever. Ego or not. I don't care. He is amazing, I'd like to see him play live some day.
Respect for including the Seymore Duncan mention
When this gentleman started there was no one with this style, he started a new line of how to create guitar solos... Respect the ranks.
I have his signature strat in sonic blue. I bought it 22 years ago. Super cool guitar
Got to hang with Yngwie and Steve Vai backstage at a show in Miami in 2017 that I was honored to play at. Really cool , gracious guys. So surreal to hang with the heroes you grew up with.
What a legend! Big fan, I have been listening to him since 1998!
The literaly Goat of our lives, the
Current JS Bach.
My Yngwie signature Stratocaster is by far my favorite guitar. It is so versatile. Once you get used to the scalloped fretboard you can't go back. The control during bends and vibrato is amazing. My Yngwie Strat has been my workhorse on hundreds of gigs, and it will have thousands on it before I'm done.
The ONE and ONLY, Yngwie J Malmsteen 🔥
thank you for this video, Fender 🙌

YNGWIE ❤ The Legend
Yngwie was original and amazing. He still is. There is only one Yngwie and he is awesome.
Damn, just makes you wish the interview was longer
This was very awesome to watch. Thanks for posting Fender!!

gotta say, he looks great and seems in good spirits!
So glad God lend us yngwie this many years
I did not expect a strat timeline from Yngwie when I clicked this link. He continues to surprise and amaze me the same way he did when I first heard him 40yrs ago ... thanks Fender for asking Yngwie to do this documentary!
I love that Yngwie has scalloped all those old strats. They are meant to be played!
I’m so happy to be influenced by you Yngwie. I'm proud of this. And the video is just lovely ❤️
yep, that's exactly what I pictured Yngwies house would look like.
so. much. beige.
But at least it looks like his studio has some color in it. and his guitars lined up across the furniture like they're hanging out!
this is awesome
Excellent choice for this Stratocaster history video!! Yngwie is the perfect spokesman for the Strat!
There is some amazing concert footage of Yngwie Malmsteen with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. It strikes me that Yngwie as a musician is on the same level as great classical musicians, but the Fender Stratocaster looks like it belongs in that setting too. The Stratocaster looks fantastic in that formal setting, and Yngwie makes the sound of the guitar blend in like it always belonged in that context. I wonder what Leo would have thought to see and hear his instruments being played with a symphony orchestra?
The man, and the Excellence -Yngwie
He may sometimes come off eccentric but no one can discount how much influence he had on 90's metal scene. Yngwie is a world treasure.
We don't call him "The Maestro" for no reason! I've been a fan since 1987. 🤘
5:46〜
🇮🇪 its brilliant video sharing very good
Just fuckin' love this guy.
Yep. Rock star cool. Love ya Yngwie.
A Nuclear Violin. Thats a great way to explain a a Strat. So effin cool
“Nothing is cooler” YES MALMSTEEN 🌟
