Saw this show in Dallas, TX in a stadium with an open top over the field. There is a rectangular hole in the middle basically.
It stormed during the show. Imagine rain coming in and the lasers going through that. There was in fact a tornado nearby during the show but for safety reasons they did not alert the fans or there might have been a stampede. We did not know until afterward. (No cell phones then).

9:19 That “wailing,” if I can call it that, that Gilmour does with his guitar gets me every single time. The entire song is overrun with emotions and the 2nd solo completely envelops the heart . . . but that final wail, that final crying out, is the moment my heart is pierced. Every time.
First time I heard it? - 1994. I was one of the lucky ones to be at the concert. More than ever I understand that.
Gilmour is statesman of epic musicianship. Just gorgeous, heartfelt musical landscapes. And this is made more truthful by its timelessness. By the looks of it on UA-cam Pink Floyd as a whole is going through another Renaissance with yet another generation.

This guitar solo is historical! That was phenomenal and so emotional, that was just splendid and extremely powerful! I was there that specific day, I was really young. After the concert, we were walking in silence, thinking about this phenomenal concert, looking at the stage sometimes just to remember this moment forever before we leave for good. I also remember the smell of joints, especially in front of the stage (yes, that was, of course, forbidden, but ... Pink Floyd is Pink Floyd, right? Some people couldn't resist!). Now, when I listen to this guitar solo, I always remember that the sound was everywhere around us: spectacular, massive, imposing, powerful, but also perfectly clean! It was so impressive and so imposing. Like: the massive, colossal, powerful, and majestic Pink Floyd machine directly connected to your soul! And I can tell you that we were all vibrating.
90% of the time, during a concert, people are talking, laughing, and having good times; but during this concert, everybody was literally speechless. No stupid or annoying people. Everybody was just "connected". It was like, being in a parallel universe where everything was completely different. That was phenomenal and special, almost "magic" so to speak. And so many people were there, something like 16,300 people. I kept the tickets by the way, hehe - And today, I'm still proud to say _"I WAS THERE, WITH PINK FLOYD THAT DAY!"_

I first bought Dark Side of the Moon in 1973 at age 18. I listened to the LP so much you could practically see through it. I had to buy a second copy less than a year later, even as a constantly broke college student. Bought every album thereafter. Fast forward 20+ years. I bought the High Def. DVD of Pulse concert. Now I could afford nice equipment, but when Comfortably Numb ( from the LP "The Wall" ) was played as an encore performance, I blew a speaker on my not so cheap stereo system during Gilmore's guitar solo. You are very astute to notice Gilmore's growth. I am now 68, and react to this music in a more profound way than when I was younger, but ALWAYS recognized it as out of this world. Your post captured my attention, but it was both of your reactions to this masterpiece that so impressed me. You two are so young to "get it" at the level you do. I'm now a subscribed fan. Long may you run.

The lighting guy you're talking about that ought to get credit his name is Mark Brickman. David Gilmour and Rick Wright basically gave him a blank check to do the lighting and ask him" why don't you see what you can come up with". And on this one song you can see some of the results! I've seeing Pink Floyd four times. Twice in the 1970s once in 87 and this concert in 94. I've gone to at least a hundred concerts and seen everyone from ACDC to Zeppelin and I've never seen a better show than Pink Floyd puts on! Anyway the lighting Engineers name is Mark Brickman... the thing that's different about Pink Floyd is they put on a show regarding their music. Most of the other groups put on a show with the thought of "look at me, look at me" look what I can do, "more narcissistic". Nobody hardly even knew what anyone in Pink Floyd looked like until the 90s. David Gilmour said in an interview it was nice to be able to take his family to the mall and nobody would bother him or his family because nobody knew who he was!!! Note that none of their pictures are on any of their albums except the very first one!

You literally felt the vibration from those strings in your bones. Throw in the blinding lights from that ball and the stage and all the smoke and you get something pretty close to a religious experience.
