They originally formed in 1965 with Syd Barret instead of Dave Gilmour but Syd suffered from mental health and drug related issues so Dave Gilmour a close friend stepped in and took over lead guitar around 1968 Floyd really found their footing when they did the album Meddle 1971 I would highly recommend checking out "Echoes" - live at Pompeii 1972 where the guys play in an empty Roman Amphitheater with no audience.
Echoes in Pompeii is my 2nd favorite, only outdone(in my opinion) by Live in Gdansk. If you haven't seen it they have John Carin on keyboard 2 and Phil Manzanera on rhythm guitar. That, along with Gilmour and Wright's interplay is pure magic.
I WAS THERE. When they were in INDIANAPOLIS HOOSIER DOME 1994 June 14 -- It was a birthday Present from a girlfriend. I love Pink Floyd and they were every bit as awesome LIVE as on any album. They are my all time favorite band and LIVE in concert was just simply TRANSPORTING
I am diggin' that you love Pink Floyd, and the whole reaction thing. Now take a minute kick back in a recliner and sit still, relax close your eyes and just listen. You will find another level of appreciation.
Listen to the vocal harmonization. There are, what, 7 vocalists going on some bits? The strings via keyboard. The clean clean drumming. And David Gilmour livestreaming pure pain through his guitar, transforming it into ecstatic joy. Simply amazing.
“David Gilmour can do more with one note than most other guitar players can do with the whole fretboard.” ~ Dave Mustaine, co-founder, vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter of Megadeth
Best reactions I've seen. You actually get it and appreciate it for what it is. Yes, they are true musical masters. A league of there own. Enjoy your Pink Floyd journey. You'll never tire of it and there's plenty more, both old and new. Check out some of Roger Waters stuff also. Good work. You've got good ears.
I'll never forget the reaction of the security guards at the show I was at in 94. We saw the mirror ball being uncovered and moments later they blasted it with every spotlight in the stadium. As a teenager, that was a life changing experience. I felt like I touched the other side with that one. It _never_ gets old. I love seeing people react to something that impacted me so profoundly. Cheers!
SO glad you experienced the PULSE version. Just unreal. I hope you were paying as much attention to the absolutely mind blowing stage & light show as well as listening to the glorious tunes. I mean, how many other bands have house sized disco balls? Also, the entire PULSE concert is available to watch on the official Pink Floyd channel. You should absolutely watch the fuck out of it. The entire first set is amazing as well. Sorrow, One of These Days; I think will be right up your alley. Not to mention how much you loved the album version of Shine On, the live one starts off PULSE is glorious. The way Gilmour makes those notes soar....
Great reaction to this classic performance! I saw Pink Floyd on this Pulse tour at The Alamodome in San Antonio. There were 47,000 fans, and I had 18th row seats on the floor. Truly an experience of a lifetime!
David Gilmour, one of the GOAT Guitar Gods, master of the melodic solo at his very best. The Beatles line "While my guitar gently weeps" displayed to the Nth degree. As it played, you reacted, I reacted I felt the connection across time and space, as our heads bobbed in unison, that all great music, of any genre, brings us. And right now, we, the people, the country, the world needs so much more of that.
Simply phenomenal performance of the band as a whole. I love that simple but profound bass line that resonates throughout. You have witnessed possibly the greatest guitar solo piece of a time with David Gilmour plugging that guitar into his soul. Truly, truly exceptional experience as he gets that guitar to sing. Wonderful reaction to the legendary concert, proving the bands of this generation have a much easier ride. Few compare with Pink Floyd. Peace ✌️
You'd think there's no way to make that solo even more huge than it was on the record. But David managed to do it. It is absolutely divine. Every time I listen to this I'm genuinely exhausted by the end. In the best way possible. Also, no phones or cameras in the crowd, just people living the moment. Experiencing one of the most incredible and unique performances, being completely consumed by a wall of sound.
I cannot offhand think of another song where I would suggest that somebody listens to the live version instead of the album version, this would be one that is unquestionably better than the album version. Not just because of the double long double epic guitar solo at the end, but with the synchronized voices with the touch of the Echo and all the other things they added with the backup singers the achieve the impossible and then one of the greatest songs of all time even greater
@@davidclark3142 yeah, but the stageshow is so EPIC!! The last 4 minutes of that song blows me away everytime I watch it. Just amazing! The light explosions are ridiculous. I love seeing people react to the 1994 Pulse version..
Sorrow from pulse had lasting impression for me n my friend. . The whole album pulse vol one n two was the best ever rock concert we have seen on screen of pc and TV .
I truly appreciate your wish to have seen this in person... I did in July 1994. I would add, though, that while this was in the encore; the entire concert was so well produced that it truly represented the very best Pink Floyd could bring to the stage. For those of us that are a bit aged fans we know how important the big screen was for David Gilmour. Each track was carefully matched between the sound, the lyrics, the visual - and in person the feel of the 360 laser show - to present PF as nothing but the pure genius they are. The strength of the encore's tracks are the absence of the screen and the focus on sound and feel. Pure genius.
I echo you. This is the GOAT live guitar performance, and the one solo that I'd never tire of on repeat!. Because the hit your soul! check out more from Pulse.
His black strat was also serial number 0001. Unheard of to get one with that serial number as they usually keep the first production model of each new series, so its truly a unique guitar.

I had the privilege to work that concert as a medic at Clemson University yrs ago and it was amazing. Their laser show is mesmerizing and their music the way it bounces all around is unbelievable.
This was my 1st ever concert, nothing has come close since. Your next epic performance to check out is Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits the Alchemy concert.
You picked a helluva good one. I hope you’re still thanking whoever brought you! The only other band I’ve seen live that can come close to delivering the same immersive experience and draw such an emotional reaction to the music has been Phish. They are not everyone’s cup of tea for sure, but like Pink Floyd, those guys will bring you into another world for a while. Also I second your suggestion of Dire Straits! Growing up, my dad was always jamming Mark Knopfler. I feel he’s too often overlooked as a guitar god these days. I’m a huge fan of JJ Cale and Mark’s take on his tunes is just wonderful.
I went to that concert in 1994 in birmingham!! I was so close that I could see David gilmour's fingers playing that guitar solo!! It was incredible!!!!
I love seeing you appreciate the great timeless music I've enjoyed for a long time - you really need to do "On The Turning Away", from the same live show. It's another big song. "Comfortably Numb" is from "The Wall" album which came out in maybe '78 or so.
That was awesome -thank you! This concert was my first Floyd experience -some friends dragged me there, I didn't even want to go. Needless to say, I was converted during the first song... Thanks for the memories!
The greatest pink floyd concert PULSE in terms of performance and production and not forgetting the video sound quality. The number one rock concert of all time. Musicians mature as they age n this is the one such example. Hail pink floyd. ✌
It’s my favorite Floyd song. I love watching you fall in love with them, too I can’t wait to see your first time with The Great Gig in the Sky” and “Us and Them”.
And just to wet your appetite, this was only the FIRST encore of the Pulse concert... I challenge you to watch the second song, also THE most amazing rendition to the originally equally great song... RUN LIKE HELL!!!!!
Thank you so much for taking me back to the best show I ever experienced. April 30, 1994 Birmingham Alabama, Legion Field Stadium. More than 70,000 people there that night. It was more than a concert, it was life changing. I'm 53 years old now and I watch these videos from that tour with my 18 year old son. This particular one is so powerful that it makes me tear up. I still feel the music, the scene, the electricity, the enlightenment from that show. So so powerful. Thank you again so much for making an old man smile and getting to see a young man appreciate the greatest band of all time.
Pompeii is a close second for me....but it doesn't have the same wailing tone at the end the Pulse does which is why for me Pompeii is just behind...still a great version....
I prefer listening to the album version with Roger singing, an i was at Earls Court in 94, also at Wembley 88, which was much better in my opinion :) Berlin in 90 was a fantastic show by Roger as well, which i was lucky enough to see :)
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF PINK FLOYD! I have friends who are into rap, country, shred, death metal, heavy metal, bluegrass, you NAME it and they LOVE Pink Floyd! I caught this tour in Seattle, MIND BLOWING. And then their final concert up in Vancouver BC. happened... That final tour was the biggest, grandest, most epic music experience that will ever happy... 3 crews working round the clock for a week to set up each show! And as mythic as the show was, the music was even grander STILL, That show was truly the stuff of myth & legend! Congratulations on your wide open musical frontiers, looking forward to watching your journey my brother!
This performance, and sultans of swing alchemy live are the 2 greatest live performances ever in my opinion. Please do a reaction to that video you will not disappointed
That was the greatest gig I've ever seen. I was at that concert, the night it was filmed at Earls Court. Row 11, down the front. Gilmour's solo in Comfy Numb blew the whole room away, we just stared wide-eyed and open mouthed. The light show was exceptional and when that f*ck off huge mirror ball came down it was like looking into the sun. I'm so glad I experienced that moment in time first hand.
For real. Fucks sake. I'll never buy a single product from any of their publishers either: Publishers: CCP Games, Simon & Schuster Interactive, Atari, Crucial Entertainment I'll also be installing youtube vanced as well (modded version of youtube that eliminates all ads. Available on Android). This platform won't get another cent off me
I think they were all born during or around the end of WWII, early 1940s. So, they were around 50 years old when this was recorded (they are in their 70s now). This was a very tumultuous time in the UK as they dug out from the ruins of war, with their cities being heavily bombed. The fathers of many had been killed in the war or were badly harmed and damaged psychologically. The economy was in ruins. So many great musicians came out of that that I have to think the experience did something to spark that explosion of creativity as they worked through the trauma they grew up in..
It is not an accident that they have sold between 250,000,000-450,000,000(depending on the source) and had an album, "Dark Side of The Moon" on the Billboard Album Chart for 741 consecutive weeks(14.25 years) and on the Billboard Charts for over 1550 weeks(29.75 years) since its release....Where ever life finds you I hope it finds you and those you love safe and well....AHIMSA!!!!
I saw them debut DSOM with 18,000 others in Earls Court, West London in 1973 and 47 years later that experience still resonates though they did charge £1 or $1.34 where Led Zeppelin was only 75 PENCE at Wembley Arena, North West London and both Deep Purple and the following week Creedence Clearwater Revival were both 25 PENCE or 34 cents at The Royal Albert Hall, South West London up in "The Gods" on the Top Tier as the rest of the venue was already sold out...:)
Thanks Mark G. Like most things you take it for granted at the time but now, you are right, I realise I was lucky to see all these Groups and many more in London including Genesis' first ever Top Of The Bi;; performance at Croydon when the original Headliners " Bell 'n Arc disbanded 2 daus b4 the 1972 Gig :)
I'm so pleased to see someone else being affected by Floyd the same way they affect me. They've been my favourite band for the last 30 years and still hit me right in the feels. I want Comfortably Numb played at my funeral. Anyway, for another incredible Gilmour solo, check out "On The Turning Away", from the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour. The song is so heavy with meaning, maybe even more so today, and the solo is hauntingly beautiful. I saw it at Wembley Stadium, a million years ago!

All you need is a pretty face and a crappy computer generated beat in the background and the radio stations will play it all day every day.
There are some that I enjoy. Hard rock is my genre.
You don't listen to Pink Floyd, you experience them.
Well, I'll never play Eve Online now that their commercial interrupted one of, if not the, greatest guitar solos of all time.
Comfortably numb is the greatest guitar solo of all time
NOW THAT WE'VE GOT YOUR ATTENTION...Do you wanna play spaceships?
@@MSG685 *_LOL_*
If Gilmours' guitar were a woman, she wouldn't be able to walk for a week.
The question though is would the guitar have his baby or take out a restraining order lol
Lord yes!!

@@jamescase6465 Do you really believe a random youtube comment?
Also, "prayers" lol, I spotted the religious fanatic murrican.
The drummer looks so relaxed, like he’s sitting in his living room and playing! It’s amazing, they’re amazing! ❤️
They originally formed in 1965 with Syd Barret instead of Dave Gilmour but Syd suffered from mental health and drug related issues so Dave Gilmour a close friend stepped in and took over lead guitar around 1968
Floyd really found their footing when they did the album Meddle 1971
I would highly recommend checking out "Echoes" - live at Pompeii 1972 where the guys play in an empty Roman Amphitheater with no audience.
It is epic
Amen
Gilmore’s guitar solos are the only drugs you’ll ever need!!!
Listen to the vocal harmonization. There are, what, 7 vocalists going on some bits? The strings via keyboard. The clean clean drumming. And David Gilmour livestreaming pure pain through his guitar, transforming it into ecstatic joy. Simply amazing.
.... a concert without phones in the air. Damn those were the days.
Love watching your awesome pure reactions to this gift!
And this performance was 26 years ago. Pink Floyd is timeless and for everyone!✌️😎 new sub.
Cheers!
Love Glimour’s pronunciation of his words - so very clear. Such a great voice. Love the light’s blazing at the pain AAAAAAAAAA!
Yes my friend, pink Floyd is the best band ever and that is the best live in history.
That moment when you face melts off and you’re blown away forever. You have indeed, listened to Pink Floyd
I'm glad you went back. That is my favorite guitar solo ever.
"Guitars want a David Gilmour for christmas"
The greatest guitar solo in rock history. PERIOD!!!
Great reaction to this classic performance! I saw Pink Floyd on this Pulse tour at The Alamodome in San Antonio. There were 47,000 fans, and I had 18th row seats on the floor. Truly an experience of a lifetime!
I freaking love this masterpiece!
Peace ✌️
Pulse is best ever pink floyd concert we ( friendz ) experienced on our English music journey.
The big brother of rock bands.
One of the most beatiful live song interpretation that I ever heard...
SORROW from the same concert....GO.
COMING BACK TO LIFE
HIGH HOPES
LEARNING TO FLY
...and just keep on going.......
Yeas, Sorrow. Studio or Live. Doesn't even really matter. Great song either way.
@@davidclark3142 yeah, but the stageshow is so EPIC!! The last 4 minutes of that song blows me away everytime I watch it. Just amazing! The light explosions are ridiculous. I love seeing people react to the 1994 Pulse version..
White Sox 2020 Me, too & the beginning of Sorrow is better live IMO
@@WhiteSox-mp2wl Yeh, the lighting and lasers during Sorrow are so amazing
Sorrow from pulse had lasting impression for me n my friend. .
The whole album pulse vol one n two was the best ever rock concert we have seen on screen of pc and TV .
I had the pleasure of seeing them twice on this tour. That second solo is mind blowing
Definitely one of the best bands ever. And they've been around forever.
The reason why I love Rock N Roll. Pink Floyd
Doesn’t matter how many times you listen to it you get chills every time! Your reaction plus the song itself was a rush! Good shit bro 🔥
And that ladies and gentlemen, is how you do a concert
Glad your getting into Pink Floyd. Their a great band. I love the Pulse concert so much
Well... He's black Strat was sold last year in a auction for 5 millon so yeah... He's the goat
His black strat was also serial number 0001. Unheard of to get one with that serial number as they usually keep the first production model of each new series, so its truly a unique guitar.
It was closer to 3 million. Only guitar that has sold higher is Kurt Cobain’s MTV Unplugged acoustic
Anthony, the 0001 was not the Black Strat (and it was also not the real one as Leo Fender didn't numbered the guitars since the beginning)
Ive watched all your Pink Floyd reactions so far... We need more. I can't get enough of it!! As many Floyd fans have mentioned here, watching you get "Floyded" lol is so fun. This music is in our soul and now it's in yours! [FEARLESS off of Meddle] please do a vid on that one, and as many as you can do. This is just to fun bro!!!!
Lol that EVE ad was so unfortunate. I'm happy you restarted the solo!
That was one of the best youtube reaction videos I've ever seen. Thank you.
Thank you restarting the solo again. Not a lot of channels would do that.
I love this guy, his enthusiasm is so infectious… and he has a great taste in music!!!
Hooray for Pulse Live! If you want to see them young and bringing you another sonic journey checkout Echoes live in Pompeii. Please keep listening, you won’t be sorry. Thank you for this reaction, we love you learning to love Pink Floyd.Cheers!
Great call👍
I had the privilege to work that concert as a medic at Clemson University yrs ago and it was amazing. Their laser show is mesmerizing and their music the way it bounces all around is unbelievable.
This was my 1st ever concert, nothing has come close since. Your next epic performance to check out is Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits the Alchemy concert.
Talk about peaking early lol
They are much older at this concert.
But sound great!👯♂️👯♂️👯♂️👍👍👍
The greatest pink floyd concert PULSE in terms of performance and production and not forgetting the video sound quality.
The number one rock concert of all time.
Musicians mature as they age n this is the one such example.
Hail pink floyd.
✌
It’s my favorite Floyd song. I love watching you fall in love with them, too I can’t wait to see your first time with The Great Gig in the Sky” and “Us and Them”.
the child has grown the dream is gone
Love your reaction. I never tire of this version of Comfortably Numb.
Cant believe u havent done “the great gig in the sky” yet
Probably one of the greatest musical performances in the history of music on this planet right there.
I liked Floyd early in their career but what turned me into a huge fan was their album, "Obscured By Clouds".
Excellent choice
Watching a young fella react with so much emotion for a band that I have loved for 50 years is pure smiles 🤘🤘🤘
To See The Greatest Finale To Any Concert By Any Band , Watch "Run Like Hell" From This Same Show , It Will Blow Your Mind !!!!
And just to wet your appetite, this was only the FIRST encore of the Pulse concert... I challenge you to watch the second song, also THE most amazing rendition to the originally equally great song... RUN LIKE HELL!!!!!
That ad place during the solo.... That is just plain evil!
Those are the type of things they do to you in hell, I imagine.
Well that was ok...said no one who ever reacted to the PULSE version of Comfortably Numb.....
True and for the one person who does NOT get the irony, our Man was saying that was absolutely brilliant and he was right :)
I like David Gilmour live at Pompei, Comfortably Numb better! Check it out
Pompeii is a close second for me....but it doesn't have the same wailing tone at the end the Pulse does which is why for me Pompeii is just behind...still a great version....
I prefer listening to the album version with Roger singing, an i was at Earls Court in 94, also at Wembley 88, which was much better in my opinion :)
Berlin in 90 was a fantastic show by Roger as well, which i was lucky enough to see :)
You must be a G-Eazy fan too!
And that's how you play the electric guitar, I guess. Technically it's a guitar solo, but what David Gilmour is really doing is telling a story.
I love it when I see people experience Pink Floyd for the first time. It's music on a different level.
EVE Online has just ensured that I will *never* buy that game!
For real. Fucks sake. I'll never buy a single product from any of their publishers either: Publishers: CCP Games, Simon & Schuster Interactive, Atari, Crucial Entertainment
I'll also be installing youtube vanced as well (modded version of youtube that eliminates all ads. Available on Android). This platform won't get another cent off me
Oh I don't know....Thanks to Eve Online we got to hear that beautiful singing guitar of Gilmours TWICE :)
You don't have to it's free
@@snozbaries7652 Well, that I did *not* know. In that case, I will never play that game.
I saw this show in Boston. It was amazing. That mirror ball was fantastic. Some of the best music of my life...I'll never forget it.
It’s a beautiful thing when music hits you right in the soul, ain’t it...
@@Isleofskye I envy you! That must have been extraordinary!
I'm always amazed looking to the crowd there: not moving a muscle, without cell phones (...) only listening in religious silence for pure enjoyment
You need to watch this dvd ( Pulse ) with your lights out and your headphones on. The lighting of the show is amazing and of course the music is the best !!
why the hell so many dislikes? love to see your reaction, bro. it's very genuine
from Poland with love
Check out Rush - Tom Sawyer (Official Music Video), seeing your appreciation for PF - it will blow your mind
I remember the guys from Lost in Vegas after they heard Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd the first time wondering how in the hell it had so many dislikes. They said they wanted to find the people that dislike did not to be mean but legitimately asked what part of that song could you possibly not like unless you suffer from hearing damage or tone-deafness
"I can only imagine being there". I got to see this tour back in the 90s. To this day one of the greatest concert experiences I've ever had, and I've seen hundreds of concerts.
The pulse tracks are even better than the original cuts.
Thank you very much for returning to listen to the full solo again! =)
