I was there the night they recorded this and you can't understand how completely overwhelming it was. It was so loud that every note of Gilmour's guitar rang through your whole body and the mirror ball was so bright you were blinded. You couldn't hear anything, couldn't feel anything except what the Floyd wanted you to hear and feel. It was like flying through space, held up on the music. We were in tears when the solo kicked in, men and women alike. And when the crowd left Earls Court, it was eerily silent. We were standing on the tube platform and hardly anyone could speak. We were all just looking at each other with that "WTF just happened" look in our eyes. It was a truly religious experience.
You lucky lucky lucky Bar Steward , jealous doesn't come close.
I had the chance to see this show two nights in a row during their visit to the Olympic Stadium in Montreal on May 23 and 24, 1994.
As you say, at the end of the show, the crowd seemed oddly quiet and calm.
Since I worked night shifts, I had to go to work after the show, and the buddies at work looked at me like I was high on drugs, yet I hadn't taken anything.
With Pink Floyd, no need for drugs to get high, their music is more than enough and in addition, there is no danger of overdose.
But seeing them perform can be addictive, hence the reason for seeing this show twice.
I was also there , I went the night after the seating collapsed 👌
@@thepragmatic6383 You're a lucky man! I bought a ticket when they were in Prague (Czech Republic) with this concert, and the day before I got a fever and strep throat (I was really "uncomfortably numb"). Because it was so cold and rainy, I couldn't go to the concert. For me it is one of the saddest days of my life... My friend, to whom I gave the ticket, still congratulates me ;-).
I too was there the night after the seating collapsed, including my seats! They gave us a full refund and seated us elsewhere. To say it was loud is an understatement.
"That should be illegal" -- what a great reaction. David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler perform the best guitar solos in history.
This regularly comes #1 in polls of the greatest guitar solo of all time. David Gilmour is my favourite guitarist of all time. There is no one else like him
I Agree 100%.David Gilmour is the best along with Jimmy page…. They both are greatness of their craft,.. but David is the king of the bend and commanding emotion. I hate when people say Eric Clapton is better then Gilmour,….. not in a 100 lifetimes. Listen with your ears and emotions,……..not with your opinions. Gilmour is the best!!!!!
@@Immortalheart66 listen to ... tears in heaven .... learn why and how he wrote that song.....
And then after, come and tell TO ME , this not the best song ever written and played......
Man you only have favoritism for Floyd... maybe cuz you dont listen music with your heart.. .
Floyd Are BY Far my favorite of all time , you need to get éducated about music man ... oohh bo booÿyyyÿÿyyyyy
@@jeanluke39 I’m am a self taught musician of 50 years. I’m not saying Clapton is not a great guitar player. I’m merely stating what I hear. I know all about tears in heaven and it is a wonderful song with a tragic story. I shouldn’t have used Clapton as an example. But it seems no matter who I use,.. Someone has a gripe with my pick which a lot of people agree with. If I wasn’t a Pink Floyd fan I would choose David Gilmour. Ok everybody has there opinions,.. but I have to go on what I hear. I have plenty of heart and feelings,.. being a musician of 50 years. Meant no disrespect,…All the best!!!!
@@Immortalheart66 i agree about Clapton. His biggest hits were covers of JJ Cale songs. In my humble opinion, Jeff Beck is on par with Gilmour.
it also regularly comes in lower 🤣 I like your choice of favourite guitarist but I take all of the poll things and lists etc with a grain of salt as music is personal not a popularity contest. I anyway cannot compare this to other great solos I love from other genres of music, and I love this, although I actually feel the song drags a bit at times in this live version but the ending solo is awesome. Is it the greatest? does it matter? I am pretty sure David (Gilmour) doesn't care. David comes in my big 3 in guitarists but the other 2 are very different and closer to each other than him. Floyd are unique in their sound and Gilmour is a very large part of that sound so he deserves all the accolades he gets but I don't think that ranking lists do any of the greatest any service in the end. Popularity polls are hopeless just look at how badly Rolling Stone magazine did with their "Greatest Singers of All Time" ranking recently...
Not silly at all. That crying, emotional guitar solo is designed to touch your soul and boy, does it. Even after all these years. Incredible
The best guitar solo of all time. He is a magician, almost from another universe. And you look at him, and he is a very average looking guy, a dad.Not flashy, but every note is just perfect. Every ounce of his soul is in those notes.
I have the same with the singer from Blind Guardian (bard song. Valhalla. Etc). He just looks like your neighbour who mows the lawn, takes out the trash etc. And in the weekend, 20.000 fans chant his songs back at him :-)
I saw a compliment recently," Speakers wish for a David Gillmore for Christmas" ,makes sense to me
This is the greatest guitar solo of all time. It hurts and heals you at the same time. And the more you listen to it, the deeper it cuts.
The greatest guitar solo ever recorded. Period.
I took my then 12 year old daughter to this show in Philly.Leading up to it she was so afraid of the gold lasers because she heard they would blind you if you looked directly at them,lol...Anyways she passed away just a little while ago at age 39. This is maybe the hardest and also the most meaningful memory I have. Thank you guys for doing this one.I appreciate the time and effort that must go into it Anyways, have a great day/ night.
So sorry to hear the loss of your daughter😔😔😔😔😔😔
Michael Davis, I hope you get this and we can get it touch. I lost my 38 year old sister at 38....and I've been suicidal ever since. I just can't get over it. My Mother then died of a broken heart and my nephew fled and I haven't been able to find him
My FB info may distinguish me from the many other Michael Davis's by my born and live in Bristol Pa. Hope to hear from you before long.
@@michaelasay8587 I am so sad to hear of your deep losses.I have no words that can help with your overwhelming grief other than to say,I really hope you hang around a bit longer. Maybe we can help each other a tiny bit,by talking?
@@michaeldavis5610 and Michael, just you're words help. I'm over in Puerto Vallarta now...thank God, I had to get out of the US...but with a limited income so I can't afford therapy, etc. Because I'm trying save...with possibly needing 2 new knees, have bad shoulders and so many other medical issues as we get older huh?! But I'm only 59, not that that's young but I'm not 70! Not fair, lol. How is you're health?
David Gilmours guitar sings more beautiful than most voices.
And she's right, that solo is basically history. It's the best solo of all time to many.
Pink Floyd is one of the best bands for me when it comes to conveying the beauty of melancholy.
Yes, it's heavy - but it's also beautiful.
Just one relatively small example of why David Gilmour is my all-time favorite guitarist. He doesn't just play the guitar, he sings and emotes with the guitar. So much more impressive than those guitarists who play like they're in the guitar Olympics.
I can TELL that ur wife had spiritual expirience during solo! u can see her eyes widen and soul fill with wonder!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
U get it or u dont!
I was at over 35 concerts of big bands and I saw pink floyd live 1994. This was the best thing in my life.
Silly? No. “Overwhelming”, “It should be illegal”, “Masterpiece”. Great reaction to a performance that always drives me to the edge of tears. Thank you. Subscribed.
Your beautiful wife is spot on. The world does stop and that guitar just goes straight into your soul. I have listened to it hundreds of times and still, get goosebumps. My son knows that this version is to be played at my funeral. And I will still be loving it from wherever I am! He is truly a magician who suspends time with his playing. For me, the best guitarist of all time and the most beautiful solo of all time.
Despite the fact I'd already seen countless amazing live shows until then, there was NOTHING, that would have been able to prepare me for the spaceship, that brought Pink Floyd to town in 1994. The level of sound quality and visual effects was beyond everything imagineable.
The best solo ever. I am in love with guitars and heard so many great solos but this has it all. Warm, cold, sweet, bitter, alive, dead. I always played this song in the summer after a hard day work, drinking a cold beer at my balcony and listen to this song in a loop. The lyrics represent for me the society we are living in. Nightwish made a song called 'Noise" and the video clip show what I think of when I hear this song. Everybody's screaming, everybody wants everything but because all goes at the same time we do not have attention for each other and are more in our selfish world (your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying). Besides that everybody wants to be healthy, good looking, fit without taking care of your inner self. In the end we need to fix it with some drugs and we go on and on. I love this song deeply and feeling so bad never seeing them live. Roger Waters will be playing here in the summer but I am more a Gilmours man. Great voice and guitar treating as no one else.
Every time i listen to that solo, i cry!! It tears me apart
Believe me every single track they play at this concert is amazing visually and musically , I think they said they did not have a budget they have creative license to do what they want and it shows , great reaction from you both 👍
Hi Cuz! Another Ellison here!
Reportedly, Pink Floyd basically gave the production team (stage, sound, and lighting) a blank cheque for this tour. Three stages leapfrogged around North America and Europe, each 180 feet (55 m) long and featuring a 130-foot (40 m) arch resembling the Hollywood Bowl venue. All in all, the tour required 700 tons of steel carried by 53 articulated trucks, a crew of 161 people and an initial investment of US$4 million plus US$25 million of running costs just to stage. This tour played to 5.5 million people in 68 cities and grossed US$250 million dollars.
The second solo of Comfortably Numb of the Pulse Concert is probably the best guitar solo ever played on this planet. And of course, the whole Pulse Concert is an experience in itself. I recommend to react also to high hopes of the same concert!
Indeed this guitar solo is ranked on no. 1 of all guitar solos ever played in most rankings you can find in the internet.
Lots of great guitarists, I won't say who's "the best". But nobody touches your soul with a guitar like this man. He's definitely my favorite guitarist of all time.
Dire Straits, Brothers in Arm live at Wembley 88. Mark Knopfler‘s solo will equally grab you by the soul.

That is generally how I define a great guitarist, and they are out there, but rare, and each one does it in a different way... just magnificent
It is indeed considered one of the best guitars solos of all time. A masterpiece!
I've been in the Netherlands to the pulse concert. Magnificent. I still get tears in my eyes when I here and see it. And yes, this is one of the most iconic solos.
This is the greatest version of the greatest guitar solo in history.
He is closing his eyes and going deep inside himself !
Your reaction to the solo was priceless. It’s emotionally satisfying and draining and the same time! Unreal!!
Not silly at all... I too feel emotional and overwhelmed every time I hear this live version. It is by far one of the best live performances ever filmed. Davis was a musical god in this show and it showed.
This is a fantastic performance and I have the pleasure of saying that I was at this Pulse concert in 1994 in Earlscourt, London but you also have to see him play live in Pompeii in 2016 at 70 YEARS OF AGE - MAGNIFICANT
Greatest guitar solo in rock history.
Even doggy joined this beautiful performance💞
Floyd returned home to England and recorded this at Earle's Court - London in 1994. Greatest solo ever. No doubts
Nick Mason on Drums..... AWESOME
You're totally right: It is considered as THE number 1 best guitar solo ever (and especially this Pulse version), for guitar player, professionnal musicians in general, press, etc...
I know each note of this solo as I listened to it hundreds of times, and still have tears almost each time.
I'm not an hardcore fan of Pink Floyd, but I love very much this band and I have so much respect for what they gave to music.
If still a world in 1000 years, I'm pretty sure this solo will be in the core of music history.
Even the dog couldn't resist getting up to watch the end of the solo ;)
Thank for saying it. He had a look on his face of “What the hell are you guys listening to?”😂
Pink Floyd forever !❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love your two reactions! It is from the heart I can tell. David Gilmour's souring solo in Comfortably Numb stands out as one the greatest moments in guitar tone history. The harmony and focused energy are all the more amazing. David Gilmour the front man and lead guitarist and joined Pink Floyd in 1967.He 76 years old today and still going strong!Gimour was made a commander of the Order of the British Empire. He is an animal rights activist. An environmentalist, homelessnes human rights activist and has eight children.
I've read through the comments and I'm stunned nobody mentioned how cute their little doggy was when he came to watch the action around 13:40 :) I guess folks may have been a bit distracted by that face-melting solo and missed it. It almost reminds me of that experiment where they ask you to focus on counting the number of times they pass the basketball ... (if you know, you know).
This guy turns up looking like a plumber and then slays it, Gilmore is a master of restrained perfection, no notes wasted, no excessive showmanship just a direct connection to your soul. Viva Pink Floyd
You guys are great. Love your being down to earth. Your accent isn't to hard to see past. Love your emotions, open hearts...and love and respect for these Artists they have for "Us and Them!"
I have been listening to pink floyd since i was fourteen some 51 years ago. Their is nothing else that comes close to them. Dark side of the moon was the first album i ever bought. I really enjoy your reaction to them it brings back memories of the times i first heard the records my self. Thank you for that
Nice. The song is about feeling tired and numb, because you don't life up to everybodies expectations. Pink Floyd and brillant Gilmour put it in a wonderful peace of music
I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all. When the “Disco Ball’ was uncovered and the lights hit it….. WHAT IS HAPPENING was what I said….The entire crowd was held in a trace and our minds totally blown by what we witnessed.
I'm cooking dinner, with my headphones on. And I've played this 5 times 🎸👌
There are many reasons why someone might be speechless in front of a masterpiece. One reason could be that the person is so moved or impacted by the work of art that they are unable to find the words to describe their emotions or thoughts. Another reason could be that the person is in awe of the skill or talent that went into creating the masterpiece, and they are unable to fully comprehend or articulate their admiration. It is also possible that the person is simply overwhelmed by the beauty or power of the work of art, and they are at a loss for words in the face of such greatness. In any case, being speechless in front of a masterpiece is a common and understandable reaction to something that is truly extraordinary or moving.
Don’t be afraid or shy away from the feeling PF gives you. Embrace it& feel it cause that’s what they intended us to do. It’s a musical gift everyone needs to “ experience “ I e been listening to this album and all the others for 54 years. Since I was a baby baby. It’s imbedded in my soul . It’s pure magic. Please please I beg of you, if you do anything else on this channel let it be a complete listen of Dark side of the Moon . It will change you . In an unimaginable way .it’s reactions like yours that keep me coming back to this channel. 💫I love your expressions of overwhelming amazement during this performance. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😉
I heard this wonder more than 1,000 times and I still can't believe it...
One of the 3 most spectacular solo guitar in the history of music 🎵
I always find it emotionally draining.
Amazing!
I've seen them a few times Live and I thiink each time the Guitar Solos are always OUT THERE
This is absolutely one of my favorite from pink floyd. Two times up.😊😊😊😊😊😊
I saw Pink Floyd in Providence, Rhode Island in 1988. Nobody else will ever touch it.
I was fortunate enough to be at that concert. I've followed pink Floyd since listening to their 1st album, piper at the gates of dawn. I was at their dark side of the moon concert in the 70's at Manchester free trade Hall when a power cut ended the show, that's when we had power cuts and 3 working day weeks. We did see the full re-scheduled concert a few weeks after.
i have heard all their songs many times over 50 years and still get goosebumps all the time. This is one of my top 5 solos.
the absolute best music video on you tube, I went to see them 4 times in my life, but this pulse concert looks like the top shelf one of them all.
Even his guitar had goosebumps during that performance
This IS the best guitar solo ever.. so EMOTIONAL... there cannot be another way to describe it. LOVED your reaction.
As a huge Pink Floyd fan I have needless to say watched a lot of reactions to Comfortably Numb, and this is by far my favourite reaction. It should be illegal is the best comment I've ever heard. You could also tell by the dogs reaction at the end that it was thinking exactly the same ha!
I was at the Pasadena CA PULSE tour... It was life changing, it purified my soul..
I started listening to this music at 8 years old, in 1975, with my first album, Dark Side of the Moon.
Very good guitar solo, epic solo.
Listening to Pink Floyd live, the compilation of all of their work, you feel as if you have been immersed into the total experience of all of humanity, all at once. That's why it hits so profoundly. It's a spiritual experience.
No one makes the guitar cry & whine with so much emotion as David Gilmour.
When moneys no object and excellence is your goal you get a performance of audio visual perfection like this .
The finest performance of this masterpiece you will ever hear. There will never be a band that ever comes close to the sound of Pink Floyd.
When it comes to best guitarists most people forget dave hes mot a shredder hes dave a true legend
She is literally in AWE
Look at your sweet dog on the chair behind you. So cute and adorable.
What got me, was seeing your dog, move to the chair between you at the back of the room, where he could see it.😂
When the 2nd solo kicks in, even Dave knows its gonna be monumental. See the hairs on his arm standing up! And btw..i was there too in prime seats beside where the plane crashes and underneath the boars spotlight eyes because shoddy scaffolders made them add extra dates.
you two have great reactions to Pink Floyd's music .. I'm with ya..love it!
Wow, even the dog in the background was getting into the music!!
Best of all time. Guitar solo touches my soul
I saw the same concert with my son in Chantilly Castle near Paris on july 1984 it was fantastic we will never forget 🤩
watch more of this concert! it´s a phenomenon.
Guys, even the fur baby in the back was like WTH just happened? 😂
You guys are right on. You are both wonderful!!!!!
Best reaction I've seen to this! Just watching every single bit of beauty this performance was!!
Great Song from a Great Band Thanks !
This music puts even your soul to its knee!!❤❤
I been watching your videos, excellent, reactions especially pink Floyd. When I was 14 lived on these streets of Mexico city, I saw the wall movie, on 1984.
On 1994 I saw pulse in San Diego, CA. Somehow the wall change my life, since that movie ticket, that someone buy for me in 1984, love you guys,
on most lists, this live-solo is considered the best there ever was.
Pink Floyd Experience! It's therapy.
So much talent!
Stunning, otherworldly, magnificent. 😢😊❤❤❤❤
It was very interesting to see your eyes light up and face change when the guitar began and it tapped into your being
Best solo in rock history period
I sparked up my pipe for this reaction, as I do to all Pink Floyd songs..... Thanks
A Pink Floyd song is not about «melody» or rimes as much as about emotions (normally dark emotions like despair, sadness, lonlyness, etc)
The big disco ball is highly symbolic.
First of all, it wasn't seen until the lights spotted it. It was simply not there! Hidden in a box in the ceilling. So when it got lit, you can understand why the audience went wild.
And then, when it opened up and showed the shining diamond that's inside, a direct reference to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (which refer to Syd Barrett), the fans understood!
Genius!
When you get THAT kind of emotional reaction from watching the band on a small screen and through headphones, IMAGINE what it was like to be THERE that night!!
Surrounded by the amazing clarity of the sound. . . Sound that can punch you in the chest and make your bones vibrate. .
Along with thousands and thousands of people around you, and they are all TRANSPORTED by the music, the same as you are. . .
The lights. . the movement. . . Overloading all your senses. . . GLORIOUS!
It would have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience that would have been amazing. .
Some guitarists can play a milion notes a minute and are fantastic. . David Gilmour can play ONE note and creep into your soul with it. . .
Saw that tour the Pulse tour ... best version of Comfortably Numb live..... great show....
I like millions of others have watched this dozens if not a 100 times. I still tear up some where along the sole. There are no words to adequately describe it. All I can ever say is WOW
I “LOVED” your reaction to one of my all time favourite songs and performances. I believe it is one of the best live performances ever recorded. Almost everyone who reacts to this performance are “speechless “ when it is over. For myself, as a musician and music lover…….I cried every time I watched this video for the first few weeks. It is so perfect (the musicianship, the sound quality, the lighting and production is perfect. You should react to all of this album….it is the best live concert ever recorded…..in my opinion. Cheer from Canada.🇨🇦👍
It is a very good line" this solo should be illegal "...your are absolutely right and!!!!!
"that should be illegal" XD YES!! that's it exactly!
The Dog at the end is amazing.
"You listen not only with your ears, but with your soul." Yes. That encapsulates the Pink Floyd experience perfectly - could not be said better. You get it, definitely. Shine On!
Ahhhh..the great song where David Gilmour plugs his guitar not in the amp but right in your soul....marvellous piece of music.
Loved your reaction to this great music! David Gilmours solos are epic! I love his vocals also.
This is, my musical friends, hands down, the best solo, ever performed. I wish I could have seen them when I was younger. They can play this song, in this version, on my funeral.
I only was at a concert of the cover band australian Pink Floyd and the music plus the visual mind blowing
he,s a Wizard love it, seen it live at the feyenoord stadium 1994
