Kirk in ''Fade to black'' takes us close to the black hole in the center of the galaxy. But be careful, he has a lot of support from Hetfield and Trujillo in the peak of the room. He's a Scorpions fans and said in an interview they are a big part of who he is as a musician/guitarist and that he would not be the player that he is today without them and also metallica did a doodle on one of their concerts for Gilmour on his 73rd birthday.
In his day, 24 years ago, it was the biggest show on tour ever. I was lucky enough to be able to accompany the tour as a light show assistant. It was the most impressive time of my life
You lucky git I saw PF in 73 Earl's Court DSIDE but this Pulse concert is recognised as floyds greatest outing Gilmour has gotten better over the years . I'm fussy about music and very eclectic Opera too Rap. Floyd are for me are the masters of deep rock.
When I was in high school, my sister and I were watching this concert. We'd just had some jazz cabbage, and at the exact moment where Vin says "What the hell!" towards the end of the solo, we both burst out laughing at how obscenely good this solo was. Truly one of my favorite tracks, and it's been in my rotation for over half my life.
Earls Court, London 1994 The Division Bell tour..where this vid was shot. I was there on the first night when the seating collapsed (luckily no one was hurt). So they re-shot the following evening..again we were there..(MASSIVE FLOYD FANS and we thought “fuck it we don’t know if/when we’ll see them again” so we got tickets for 2 nights). I remember standing looking up at the centre piece hanging over the crowd as the lights & lasers hit the egg shaped mirror ball as it unfolded and spread a million beams of light around the arena..a truly spiritual moment for me. Listening /watching to this all these years later still gives me the same goosebumps I had that night. You’ll never see a finer band perform live. Long live the Floyd
when they anouced they were coming to Saint-Petersburg in Russia all 80.000 tickets were sold out in 24 hours ... I was lucky to get one of those tickets it was a long time dream of mine come treu ... it was a amezing wonderful experience
The best fucking guitar solo ever! Gilmour is just the best guitar player when it comes to emotions! BTW: When you find the time you should watch the whole concert! It is an insane experience!
David Gilmour has lots of solos you're going to love. I love it when he mimics the guitar with his voice...or vice versa. Please consider doing the Live at Pompeii video. Basically, they play a concert in the ruin of a Roman amphitheater...with no audience. It's about an hour long. It was in '71 when they were long-haired and baby-faced. Amazing footage and studio-quality sound.
Definitely 1 of my biggest regrets in my life is that I never got to see Pink Floyd Live, in my opinion top 5 greatest live bands ever Gilmour and Waters are 2 of the greatest musicians in history
I was there at London Earl's Court when this was recorded - it didn't take long to realise you were witnessing the greatest live guitar solo of all time
"Pulse" is the name of the concert DVD where this was from. This is was recorded live in Earls Court London. Great performance indeed but the highlight is the endless guitar solo at the end and of course the visuals.
Treat yourself to another version of this solo, 22 years later, DAVID GILMOUR : COMFORTABLY NUMB LIVE IN POMPEII 2016 - he is 70 in that take and it is amazing how he matures - like good old red wine.
A very good friend of mine who was stuck in a wheel chair with multiple sclerosis asked me if I wanted to go and see Pink Floyd. I said yes naturally. This was in 1994 at this very concert. We were in the special section down the front on the left hand side. At the beginning of the concert, David Gilmour asked everyone to remain seated and just listen to the music. My friend's son came with us. He had never seen a live band before being only 15. After the first song had finished, I turned to him and his mouth was wide open. He was absolutely amazed. As "Comfortably numb" was playing I had the experience where nothing else existed accept this music. I was completely part of it. I have been to see many live bands and have only experienced the same thing on one other occasion which was Eric Clapton playing an extended version of old love at Hyde Park, also in London but outside. This is art. Your reactions took me back there. Thankyou

David Gilmore is a king of guitar. Vin mentioned "Dime and Toni and no one else matters " expand your six stringed horizon my guy! This whole DVD will blow your mind! He's not a bad singer, songwriter, composer, lyricist either... Love peace and bacon grease my friends.
Any Pink Floyd was average for their times (70s), but Pink Floyd together were at the top of their times. Horatius named it "aurea mediocritas" long before.
The reason why the second solo is the best ever is that Gilmour, in the context of the lyrics, reaches into your soul, rips it out, takes it through his emotional wringer and then hands it back, forever changed.
And I like that David sings Received Pronunciation English. Example: "I can't explain"...compare it to how "the Who sing the same words ( "I can't explain").
Not a big fan of either band, but I do like a lot of their songs. And THIS is BY FAR so much better than Hammet in F2B. No even close. Vin is just a huge Metallica fan so he's extremely partial.
Honestly, it's a reasonable comparison. Of course. CN takes #1 but when you have fast solos it's just as good(arguably almost as good) as a good slow sexy solo. FYI, huge fan of both. I can honestly debate a Kirk vs. David solo any day of the week.
I’m a metal fan, but no one can bring it like Gilmour when it comes to epic, emotional solos. Kills Fade to Black in my opinion. This is up there with Hendrix - Machine Gun on the Band of Gypsies Live
When they first dug up the amphitheater in Pompeii, pink floyd played the first show in 2000 years there to no crowd. 1972, so good! Now there is seating; the 2016 stuff i saw was awesome!
That song! That concert! Wow! You both should sit down and watch the whole concert if/when you have the time. A definite collection favorite from this amazing band!

Thank you so much for reacting to this. I was in high school when this song first came out in 1979. I remember it well. My friends and I loved attending concerts. It was one of the things we loved doing together. There were a huge number of wonderful groups at the time and concerts were not very expensive to attend. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Triumph, 38 Special, Foreigner, and many others. I can not describe to you what a wonderful time it was to be young then. We were happier, relationships were closer, life was more carefree, and the music was spectacular. My heart just aches that young people will not get to experience life as we did as teenagers in the 70’s/80’s. Again, thank you so much for posting this video. It was a wonderful treat.
Saw this show in Vancouver '94. Sat right next to soundboard... and the mirror ball was right above me. I've seen over 600 concerts, ... this is in my Top Ten. Maybe Five. :-)

The CN from the New Orleans Superdome in 1994 is David's personal favorite version from this tour.
In his day, 24 years ago, it was the biggest show on tour ever. I was lucky enough to be able to accompany the tour as a light show assistant. It was the most impressive time of my life
Oh man, I'd give my left nut to have seen one of the Earl's Court shows, let alone been on the tour. You are one very fortunate man.
Saw Vancouver show !
Marc Brickman is a genius.
@@dixienormous2440 That's right, an incredible talent and visionary
That solo keeps going on forever and still, it is way too short. So good!
Yeah, just getting into it and dang its finished .
I was there. Ive been to a lot of gigs in my 50+ years, this is at the top of the pile :)
Is it bad that I envy you so much for being there??? Argh!!!
David Gilmour is THE greatest guitarist - EVER!!! He wires his guitar directly into his heart.
Thats an awesome quote👌👍
@Sam I’d put them both in the top 5 without a doubt. Probably even top 3.
This is common knoledge
David Gilmour is not only one of the greatest guitarist of all time & he is one of the greatest singer as well.
when they anouced they were coming to Saint-Petersburg in Russia all 80.000 tickets were sold out in 24 hours ...
That was my favorite song from that concert, but Shine On You Crazy Diamond was phenomenal as well!!
David Gilmour is the best electric guitar soloist ever
First time I heard this I wept😢...the David Gilmore guitar solo penetrated my very soul! Unbelievable!
9:15 the moment God came down to Earth and entered London's Earls Court to see David Gilmour himself.
There are parts of this solo that genuinely send shivers down my spine. Easily the best in history. Past, present and probably future.
Best guitar solo in all of human history
The best concert I’ve ever been to and it’s not even close. I still think about it today. Just unbelievable!
Kirk is amazing... Gilmour, however, is one of the greatest... ever.
Definitely 1 of my biggest regrets in my life is that I never got to see Pink Floyd Live, in my opinion top 5 greatest live bands ever Gilmour and Waters are 2 of the greatest musicians in history
Amen
I've seen the last 2 tour concerts. 1988 in Koln, West Germany and 1994 in Arizona. The greatest ever.
I was there at London Earl's Court when this was recorded - it didn't take long to realise you were witnessing the greatest live guitar solo of all time
Anything that can come close to Gilmour's solo is Gilmours own High Hopes slide guitar solo. Kirk Hammet just isn't in the same league.
That High Hopes solo is ridiculous!!!!!!! Unreal
the solo from sorrow (at pulse ) is better imo
Kirk Hammet vs David Gilmour = 😂😂😂😂
Gilmour would win with his eyes and ears shut.
Kirk is great, but saying that he is on the same level of DG is just an insult to DG.
"Pulse" is the name of the concert DVD where this was from. This is was recorded live in Earls Court London. Great performance indeed but the highlight is the endless guitar solo at the end and of course the visuals.
Oh yes, the greatest solo of all time.
great reaction to a real masterpiece captured forever.
Treat yourself to another version of this solo, 22 years later, DAVID GILMOUR : COMFORTABLY NUMB LIVE IN POMPEII 2016 - he is 70 in that take and it is amazing how he matures - like good old red wine.
agree
I love it
Totally agree, that version have the best solo ever!
Thankyou
Ain't none of us gonna complain about *this* live version. :D
its complete garbage.
@@KingOfHell94 Don't be soo rude. It was long and boring, but not garbage.
@@justletitallend8997 rude towards who lol? :D
@@KingOfHell94 Towards to the people who thinks that this is the greatest thing from the greates band with the greates guitarist. It is soo fucking great that the simple human mind can't understand the greatness of it! lol
@@justletitallend8997 well i said that this version is garbage, if you dont agree w/e, now if anyone is offended by what i said, they can go fuck themselves.
King?
King?
David Gilmour is God.
Repeat
David Gilmour is God.
David Gilmore is in his own universe...
Any Pink Floyd was average for their times (70s), but Pink Floyd together were at the top of their times. Horatius named it "aurea mediocritas" long before.
I’m pretty sure he was referring to the metal genre when he said that
Antonio Maraspin I don’t understand why you called pink Floyd average for the 70’s. could you go into more detail to explain what you meant.
Hey Sori, Vin gets it now! You gotta let this song flow through you so you can feel it, experience it. Welcome to Pink Floyd, Vin!
I saw it live in Wr. Neustadt in Austria, in the open and so we had firework too! Best show i ever saw live! Greetings from Austria!
God almighty are you comparing Kirk Hammet with David Gilmour? 🤐😫
I know, right! Fade to black is OK, but this is another level.
The two solos are amazing, realy powerful 💪✌
Not a big fan of either band, but I do like a lot of their songs. And THIS is BY FAR so much better than Hammet in F2B. No even close. Vin is just a huge Metallica fan so he's extremely partial.
Honestly, it's a reasonable comparison. Of course. CN takes #1 but when you have fast solos it's just as good(arguably almost as good) as a good slow sexy solo. FYI, huge fan of both. I can honestly debate a Kirk vs. David solo any day of the week.
For as much shit I give Vin for his opinion on some stuff, he wasn’t really comparing the two here, he was talking about his personal preference.
David Gilmour is hands down a better guitarists than Kirk Hammet....no disrespect to Kirk!
This exact version will be played at my funeral and when the solo hits, the speakers will be cranked.
Dear Sori. You DO NOT reach for a plastic bottle when Gilmore starts this solo. This is holy.
She looked like she was doing everything except paying attention
It's like paying no attention to God while He is giving you His ten orders
The only solo I’ve ever listened to throughout my 49 years, that I never wanted it to end. Best ever.
Pink Floyd taking us to church on this Sunday morning.
My pastors have used this song as part of their sermon before
patrick perry My catholic school religion teacher played us John Lennon’s Imagine. One of the most famous anti religious songs of all time.
All PF members are atheists so lol.
nagaslrac I would guess a large percentage are not religious.
Hey jdub - couldn’t agree more. I saw this show at another venue , was intense.
That solo is decades of passion pouring out from his soul!
I’m a metal fan, but no one can bring it like Gilmour when it comes to epic, emotional solos. Kills Fade to Black in my opinion. This is up there with Hendrix - Machine Gun on the Band of Gypsies Live
J Sanders One of my all time favourite live solos is Fleetwood Mac “The Green Manalishi” in Sweden 1970.
Shspurs1 yeah good song, if only mac had stayed on that style
This is a slice of mana from heaven that we are privileged to witness and take in. It's so fckin awe-inspiring.
When they first dug up the amphitheater in Pompeii, pink floyd played the first show in 2000 years there to no crowd. 1972, so good! Now there is seating; the 2016 stuff i saw was awesome!
Pink Floyd is awesome live. A great experience for the body, mind, and soul. Great review, Thanks!
R.I.P. Rick Wright
The crazy part is, they actually edited out 2 minutes of his solo for the video. You can find the full version on youtube.
06:25 Golden rule: NEVER interrupt a David Gilmour solo, make noise, drink water or chew gum
and by cliking in that time link you made me listen this solo once again, thks anyway the count goes already over 1 thoussand times for sure.
I agree plastic bottle
so happy you did this
There are 2 stages of human existence, the one before you've heard Comfortably Numb solo and the one after.
That song! That concert! Wow! You both should sit down and watch the whole concert if/when you have the time. A definite collection favorite from this amazing band!
I've got it on twin double disc dvd..... pink Floyd - live at Earls Court - pulse 1994 ...... still to this very day I watch it I'm blown away in a trance everytime I watch it 😍 my mum used to play pink Floyd on CD when I was like 6/7 yrs old
...... 25 yrs later I'm keeping their spirit alive 😊👌❤💯😍
My favorite band, my favorite song and version, the best guitar solo hands down, david gilmour is a guitar god, brings out alot of emotion in his playing, you can feel it everytime
This solo makes me have hidden tears. I've listened to Pink Floyd for 30 years, but this solo always takes me to a further place than where I am.
I truck down the highway so much smoother listening to Pink Floyd. This one in particular is so soothing
looking on UA-cam at PRIESTS EXORCISTS REACT TO PINK FLOYD
Saw that show at a different venue - greatest concert experience ever.
Division Bell tour, '94, Mile High Stadium in Denver, CO....80,000plus in attendance....Best concert I've ever seen..visually stunning light show and sounded flawless....my ultimate music memory, when I close my eyes and retrieve that concert, in my mind, I get emotional and choked up
The loudest best sounding best visual show ever, I saw it twice 🙏 just hear the crowd at then end
HIGH HOPES...Pink Floyd same concert only David Gilmour does a lap steel solo ln this one, mlnd blowing!!!
Gilmour.
Yep, love that too.
As well as "One of These Days" from the "Delicate Sound of Thunder " concert!
Yes that High Hopes solo is probably the most moving guitar solo I've ever heard. It's stellar!
I don't tend to like 'Reaction' videos, but watching Vin's (?) face through this was a gift. Many thanks for this.
Pink Floyd Marooned is a great solo. It’s off Division Bell
Agreed. Worth checking out the one from the Strat Pack concert. ua-cam.com/video/Y1M7TlmijyA/v-deo.html
I really like that solo, good point!
very under rated album
Everything off Division Bell is awesome!
Saw this show in Vancouver '94.
Sat right next to soundboard... and the mirror ball was right above me.
I've seen over 600 concerts, ... this is in my Top Ten. Maybe Five. :-)
Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues (Live) !!!
Those 3 guys gilmour, moore and slash are like the kings of making their guitars explode with emotions. Its their thing
Or Parisienne walkways.
Pink floyd hits your soul . You never listen, you experience them
Sori gets it, close your eyes and feel Pink Floyd. that's all it takes
