@Vinsplosion I'm 54, and funny enough one of the first albums (and I mean a real album) was Toys in the Attic. I'm glad to see there are those like you that have great taste in music!
I'm 37 and was raised on Aerosmith. Pump and Permanent Vacation are the sound of my childhood. I saw them in concert in 2004 and was able to check that off my bucket list. They're my all-time favorite band.
Freya Mikilson and I’ve heard people say rock is just for rebellion, smh Edit: glad to hear what this song did for you. Rock really is a great genre of music.
I love watching reacts to Aerosmith. This is what I grew up with. My mom is the biggest Aerosmith/ Steven Tyler fan. My sisters and I all went to their concert with my mom for our first concert. I’ve been to so many now. We grew up on classic rock and now I’m a huge country fan. Such a funny transition but I still love to rock out to often 😂
It thrills me so much that you are expanding your appreciation of music. It makes the whole world a better place! 😁Aerosmith has so much passion. Everybody needs a little rock and roll in their life, lol.
@@RedStrikeMusic Okay, let me be exact. If memory serves me correctly, Tyler wrote the lyrics (probably the music), Perry the music- or at least the guitar riffs. Aerosmith recorded, performed, etc. However, there is no version of Walk This Way as Aerosmith with/featuring Run DMC. It's Run DMC with/featuring Aerosmith.
"Walk This Way" is a song by the American hard rock band Aerosmith. Written by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, the song was originally released as the second single from the album Toys in the Attic (1975). In addition to being one of the songs that helped break Aerosmith into the mainstream in the 1970s, it also helped revitalize their career in the 1980s when it was covered by hip hop group Run-D.M.C.
Aerosmith!! You should do ‘sweet emotion’ also a classic. ‘cryin’, ‘crazy’, ‘what it takes’... If you love guitars: ‘love in an elevator’, also ‘I don’t wanna miss a thing’, ‘rag doll’ there are so many! Aerosmith and Queen are my 2 favorite bands.
3 years later....i've been watching you grow spiritually and I hope you kept dreaming and I hope all of your dreams come true, Doc rich. From one DOC to another.
Thank goodness the older songs are being played now. Good songs should not be put on a shelf and forgotten. We knew these song were good, and I'm glad their being brought out again. There was so many in the past that was good. Thank you for playing them. It is really neat to hear the youth of today say that the older songs are really good.
You got it right bro.., about 3:25sec, when you start to speak that truth. Was already in such a great place from 25 to 35 years prior to that Era. That's why you hear those my age say it's so much worse now.., lyke it's back to tha 50s and 60s only from opposite ends. My whole generation, black and white let it go and were truly happy living together in this country. Music was tha one and only great influence we had. Zero social media to brainwash us otherwise. There was a certain unspoken respect from tha hip-hop world, and in return hop- hop brought inspiration, admiration, and acceptance. I believe music was tha sole reason we all could really begin to come together. Respecting different cultures and accepting enough of any differences, proved ones character, intellect, and what you stood for as a human being and American. And that went a whole lot futher back then... where tha saying "all a man has, is his word"... and "word is bond" ... things lyke that came from self respect being being either #1 or #2 in any one persons life. But you bro...i see you got it... and tha courage to make that something you can be proud of. Love tha reaction😁, sry for tha rant😅, and keep em comin 😁👍🏼
Wikipedia confirms: "In 2002, the song was sampled by American rapper Eminem for the song "Sing for the Moment", from his 2002 album The Eminem Show. Joe Perry played the guitar solo on the track and the chorus features Steven Tyler singing, with Eminem adding "sing", "sing with me" and "come on" in the refrain as well."
A lot of rappers sample from classic rock and metal classics. Glad that so many are broadening their music choices and appreciating it. Keep it up! 🤟🏻✌️
Every time I look in the mirror all these lines in my face getting clearer, The past is gone. Liens on your face, no more pimples, you’re getting older. Yesterday is ancient history
You'd be surprised how many rappers, especially in the early days of rap music, sampled/dj'd in bits and pieces of rock/metal songs. I mean Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, ect.... all had parts of their songs in a lot of rap tunes. I'd also say though, if you are rap head, go listen to something like James Brown's 40th Anniversary collection double cd. You'd never stop hearing stuff that got sampled of his in modern rap. Same goes for say Kool and the Gang, Parliament Funkadelic, The Temptations.... read those liner notes in cds...and see where all those samples come from.
The past is gone. We don't want to focus on the past, the past creates who we are. So many of us look there to figure out why we are who we are. For almost everyone, their past was molded by other people's influence on their lives. A lot of influence that should never have happened. If we could escape it, we would. It's hard to look forward when the past never stops knocking. But we can try! 😊 Have an awesome day!
Everytime it's a remake they will come out and rerecord. I'm black too and I got into rock 15-20 years ago and I love it. I'm sure as you go into aerosmith you will see you've heard some of the songs without knowing.
So the guitars...the main riffs you are hearing are from Joe "Fuckin" Perry. He's the lead. Very cool, very well known...VERY GOOD! He's known by his peers for doing things that he shouldn't be able to do on guitar. When you think of guitar rock gods, you're thinking Joe Perry without even knowing who he is. There is a second guitar player in the group named Brad Whitford. He's the quiet one, but is very skilled...very polished and possibly the most underrated guitarist in rock. They compliment each other very well. You won't find a better guitar duo in the history of Rock n Roll. PERRY IS GOD!
Dude, check out all the early Aerosmith...'One Way Street" is crazy. The whole "Toys in the Attic" album is awesome. This band is sooo f#*king talented.
You should listen to Kings and Queens. I love love love Aerosmith. When the game came out in 2008 they rerecorded the songs. They still touring now and even after all the drugs etc he is still killing these notes. I'm so surprised you have never heard this before.
Most people don't care for the past? such as history, to me history is so important so that we don't repeat it, and learn from it, so we can evolve from it.❤❤❤
@Rich and Kelsey Brief history of Aerosmith: huge and influential hard rock band in the 70's - went down in a hail of 8balls and liquor - cleaned up - reinvented themselves as a huge pop act - still tour today - next year will be their 50th
It's really impressive when you realize this song was a hit already in 1973. It's a timeless classic, IMO. I think it would still be received and loved by the masses today if it were a new release for them. It seems so many people have a visceral response to this song in addition to just the pleasure of enjoying it's sound and lyrics. It's one of those songs you feel in your chest and can't help moving to, based on my knowledge and extensive number of times I have gotten to witness them performing it live in my many years of life. ☺️ ( I was knocking on the door of my teen years in 1973. LOL! )
Jethro Tull had Ian Anderson playing the acoustic guitar so sweetly, then he picks up a flute and just shreds it. Please react to Thick As A Brick (Live at Madison Square Garden (1978) and My God (studio version)!
7:13 i am half black and half white. when i was a kid in the 90s (i'm 36 right now) white kids listened to their music and black kids listened to their music. there wasn't much overlap where i was, and even some almost (absolutely) violent rejection on both sides. so seeing black folk listen to "white music" and the opposite on youtube is curious to me, someone who is both. i am half black and i didn't even try listening to hiphop until around the year 2000 because of purely racial lines, i grew up with the white side of my family. hip hop/rap and in particular gangster rap didn't become a part of my life until 2000. it is really difficult to describe how i felt when i realized that music created by black folk had been held back from me just because i lived in a white household. lets just say that my appreciation of music is pretty skewed, but i hope for the better. captain beefheart was a genious.
Fun fact: his famous daughter, Liv Tyler, was on the show Who do you think you are? (I think it's this one) and they discovered that on her dad side they he had a black ancestor who was playing the drum in the military about some 100 years ago. That's maybe where is love of music is coming from!
I appreciate you giving rock some love ❤️ especially when you enjoy it and yes Eminem sampled it! You can do more of them how about Sweet Emotion! I hope you do some Motley Crue, do Dr Feel Good, Wide Side is a must, Live Wire, Primal Scream and you have to do Home Sweet Home, thanks, have a great day!
Aerosmith loved metaphors, like their album Done With Mirrors was about kicking cocaine addiction, they were "done" with mirrors. It was always said, when I was a kid (in the 70's), that the first verse of Dream On was about kicking cocaine. "...when I look in the mirror, all the lines on my face getting clearer", lines of cocaine on a mirror, and so on, the rest of the verse applies if you look at it in that context. Maybe an urban legend, conspiracy theory, whatever, it always sounded like that.
I just came across your channel and I love seeing people exposed to the music I grew up on. I don't think you've reacted to any Eagles songs yet. They have one album (greatest hits 1971-1975) that has sold 38,000,000. It's hard for me to pick a favorite, but "hotel california' is one of their classics. Also 'desperado' and 'one of these nights' are worth a listen.
Steven Tyler will face God someday and God will say Well done my son. Dream on is exactly what I have been saying all these years. You Have expressed that so clearly and so magnificently. You have inspired billions.
Since you're loving guitar, here are some other suggestions: Eagles - Hotel California Eric Clapton - Layla (1992 unplugged/acoustic version) Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven Carlos Santana ft. The Product G & B - Maria Maria. I actually recommend the entire album this is on, which is called "Supernatural". There is a lot of collaboration on this album with many singing artists. Aerosmith - Dream On (unplugged/acoustic live version that aired on MTV back in 1991) I could go on but those are some of the greats. I understand you already reacted to Queen, which of course is another great band.
3:52 a thief cannot ignore the past. but that is only an extreme example, everyone wants to forget their failures, but they will forget their success first. i know, what nobody knows, where they come and where they go. i've seen, what everybody's seen, but who has the blues to know but me? (not actual lyrics, but fun)
Since you say you love Guitar. I want you to react to one of the most overlooked songs. Band is called "Stone Roses", song is Love Spreads. The song is about what if Jesus was a Black girl. The entire Song, Meaning, and Guitar are never seen as they are. The whole song is powerful!
Just think. Aerosmith was in the music world at the same time as the Stones, David Bowie, Queen, the Who, Elton John, Michael Jackson, George Michael, Prince, John Lennon , Paul Mc Cartney, Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Linda Ronstadt. Aaron Neville, Lionel Richie & so ma y more greats.
I have found that most happy people enjoy today and look forward to tomorrow while miserable people seem to over glorify the past and fear the future. You should try Led Zeppelin Dazed and Confused.
You're missing something right at the beginning. The opening lyrics have to be taken in context with the sounds in the song, "...all these lines in my face getting clearer" -then the sound right there is a sniffing sound. "...the past is gone...". The "lines in his face" are reference to cocaine.
Not to say that he wasn't, but during the "Toxic Twins" era, it was cocaine. Not sure which interview, but there's a vid where he talks about snorting "half of Peru"
I understand what you were saying about hanging onto the past, but I see it just a little differently. Without knowing the past you can't really move "surely" into the future. What we forget to do as humans is to move on to the next step. See you have to remember the past and learn the lessons it teaches so that moving forward you know what to avoid and what to strive for.
You asked about their acting. They may have been in other things, but I know that Steven Tyler played himself as Charlie's neighbor a few times on Two and a half men. They even got into a fight. Steven Tyler beat Charlie up. It was hilarious.
Great, classic song - one of my all time favorites. Steven Tyler has been a judge on American Idol and I remember him saying "Some of these people have talent way beyond mine." And I was so impressed by his humility because his voice is so iconic and he's a total showman. But speaking of guitars, If you love guitar, two more you have to check out and they will blow you away. "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynrd (other reactors have actually gotten out of their chairs and walked away and then came back), and then "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. You will be blown away. Great reaction!
steven tyler was one of the judges on american idol for 3 or 4 years and you might know his daughter her name is liv tyler she is a fmous actress known for being ben afflecks fiance in armageddon and being an elf in the the lord of the rings trilogy please let me know what you think
It just freaks me out that people don't know all about Aerosmith, but then I remember I'm old. lol
@Vinsplosion I'm 54, and funny enough one of the first albums (and I mean a real album) was Toys in the Attic. I'm glad to see there are those like you that have great taste in music!
@Vinsplosion still have mine and it's in good shape, still have my old Back in Black album and more. Just don't have a turntable at present.

I'm 29 and have always heard Aerosmith along with a lot of other genres.
Just saw them perform this song in concert last week....Steven Tyler is 71 and he’s definitely still got it!
“Everybody knows who Eminem is”. Yeah, that’s what I thought about Aerosmith :)
This song literally saved my life~I was suicidal as a kid (yes I'm that old) and this song (along with a couple of others) helped me hold on.

Yes Em sampled this piano. The song is Sing For The Moment.
It was guitar and vocals that he used, a lot were re-recorded by Joe Perry & Steven Tyler specifically for Sing for the Moment.

You're missing something right at the beginning. The opening lyrics have to be taken in context with the sounds in the song, "...all these lines in my face getting clearer" -then the sound right there is a sniffing sound. "...the past is gone...". The "lines in his face" are reference to cocaine.
Thought he was more of a heroine guy. back in the day.
It was hilarious.
this song has 20mil views, Eminem's sing with me which is basically a sample of this song has almost a billion. I am disappointed in humanity
Travis Cormier did this for his audition for The Voice you should check it out. Goosebumps.
Great reaction!
check out Deep Purple "HighWay Star" and "Child in Time" and Black Sabbath "War Pigs"
Yes Eminem did sample this song in his song Sing For The Moment.
