The singer Steven Tyler was 14 years old when he started writing this. FOURTEEN! He didn't finish it for a few years, but you GOT to give respect for that!! He's extremely gifted.
Love that you loved this! You may remember Run DMC (80’s Wrap stars) remaking a song with these guys. WALK THIS WAY, was a huge hit and relaunched Aerosmith’s career when they remade it with them.
Steven Tyler is Aerosmith's lead singer. Some 50 years ago, when I was 15 or 16, me and 2 buds had just smoked a joint at lunchtime and someone in my class popped this in. WELL DING A DING DANG !! I had to go get their album TOYS IN THE ATTIC, and have been a fan ever since. I think Tyler was 17 when he wrote and sang this. Aerosmith has lots of great songs like WALK THIS WAY, and SWEET EMOTION. Enjoy bro.
When I was growing up, rock was what we all listened to. Love it. Still listen to it - some 60s, but mainly 70s-2000s. Some amazing rock music! Now I listen to a lot of other music too
I appreciate how you step out of your preferred genre to listen and react. I grew up with my family listening to Big Band, jazz, easy listening, Beatles, Mamas and the Papas, folk. Everything but opera and not much country. I have a wide appreciation for different genres . Not an opera fan or country. As i got into my 50's i began liking heavier rock (Metallica and more). My boys introduced me into modern stufff.
It's so nice to see people discover new genres! Since you asked: What brought me to rock was catharsis. I'm a very quiet person and the raw, shouty, imperfect passion of rock lets me get my feelings out (whether negative or positive). Edited to add: whenever I listen to rock, I am reminded of its roots. Rock n'roll came from the blues. Some out of appropriation, some out of admiration. So I see modern rock music as a kind of thank-you letter to the first jazz and blues artists, because they really are the grandparents of most music in America, and music really is one of the things that can bring us all together.
My dad was a rock fan so I naturally listened to rock as a kid in the ‘70’s which is what would be considered “classic Rock”. Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Blue Oyster Cult, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Jimi Hendricks the Guitar legend, and Janis Joplin just to name a few. I love all genres of music including international music and even opera. Music is totally about expressing one’s self through notes. I will say though that rock will probably be my favorite forever because even though I am in my fifties there is still a part of me that’s still a bit of a rebel and a badass 😂. That’s what rock & roll is about! STICKING IT TO THE MAN!!
Welcome to the rabbit hole, we have cookies.... love your react Sir, that was most certainly genuine. My dad grew up in the sixties, cut his teeth on stuff like The Animals, Cream, Steppenwolf, The Rolling Stones, taught himself to play guitar, got into the heavier stuff in the seventies, then I came along. He brought me up on the same stuff he did, taught me bass when I was fifteen, and I've been jamming with him ever since. Keep 'em comin'!! I'm diggin' this!
Steven Tyler...lead vocals Joe Perry...lead guitar Brad Whitford...rhythm guitar Tom Hamilton...bass Joey Kramer...drums First heard the Beatles and was a rock fan ever since. Besides them Aerosmith was my other favorite rock band. Steven Tyler definitely has o e of the best voices in rock. Check out "One Way Street" off the same record. Rock and Roll at its best.
The rock songs of the 70’s were amazing. It was the most talented song-writers all inspiring each other to write better songs. The result was a decade of brilliant music by numerous bands. Here’s a recommendation for you that features a guitar solo: Band: Pink Floyd Song: Money I recommend you play a video that shows the lyrics as they tend to be less risk of copyright block.
I grew up in the hood and literally got tired of hearing commercials on the only 2 urban stations so I would scroll until I heard music and forced myself to listen to it
For me classic rock is what I grew up on and as I got older I expanded into hard rock, metal, and many other sun genres. And the reason it’s got so many views is because it’s a kickass song and a classic.
I listen to Rock because when I was growing up it was very main stream and all my friends listened to it as well. Rap and hip hop were in their infancy and not really a thing yet. I guess I’m old lol. And yes I’m one of the people that says today’s music sucks, I listen to only Rock my entire life. Country, Rap…nothing else comes close to rock and roll for me. Yes, rock has great guitar solos and if you want to check some great guitarists, try Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Van Halen. Live performances are best.
Yes, this is just a small example of why people listen to Rock music. Aerosmith is a nice start but there is a ton of Rock music similar and even better than Aerosmith and Dream on. I hope you continue to explore more Rock music as I am sure there are many many more songs you would like and or at least respect the talent of so many Rock groups. Allow your mind to be open and like a sponge and absorb all you can. There are so many songs I could suggest but I will suggest you check out the song Comfortable Numb, the Live Pulse version as it has an incredible solo at the end and Pink Floyd has their own unique sound. Another song to check out is Texas Flood Live at El Mocambo by SRV Stevie Ray Vaughn. The man is arguably the greatest guitar player to ever live. If you check it out, you can judge for yourself. Nice reaction to this one.
You need to watch the Postmodern Jukebox/Morgan James version of this! EPIC!!! Now check out both PMJ's and Morgan's other covers. You will not be disappointed...
Led Zeppelin suggestions: Stairway to heaven Whole lotta love The rain song The ocean Black dog (live) The Lemon song Heartbreaker Kashmir Dazed and confused Moby dick Over the Hills and far away Fool in the rain Rock n roll ( Live) Houses of the holy Achilles last stand The crunge Immigrant song
You mean you've never heard Aerosmith's collaboration with Run DMC on the remake of the Aerosmith song Walk This Way? You should react to the music video, its a classic. Whatta ya say?

If you haven't heard it yet, you need to add Ramble On by Led Zeppelin to your reaction list. A classic and one of the best. Has some amazing guitar too. (Also Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. It's banned in most guitar stores due to superstition.)
Hi loved your reaction. If you like guitar solos let me give you the best. Best guitarist Stevie Ray Von, Jimmy Hendrix. Check out Aerosmith Big 10 Inch and the other 4 epic songs besides Dream On. Led Zeppelin-Stairway to Heaven (live version), Deep Purple-Smoke on the Water (true story), Robin Trower-Bridge of Sighs and Tool-46 and 2. Your welcome enjoy ❤

Guitar solo Stevie Ray Vaughan. Texas Flood. Live. Will blow your mind 🔥
I was growing up during the golden age of Rock... Late 60s to early 80s. Hundreds of epic artists and songs!!
It's so nice to see people discover new genres! Since you asked: What brought me to rock was catharsis. I'm a very quiet person and the raw, shouty, imperfect passion of rock lets me get my feelings out (whether negative or positive).

I like that you used the word "imperfect" to describe rock music. It's that gritty rawness that makes it so special.
Me and the girls would listen to aerosmith in the cemetery drinking Boones farm wine in 1975. Seem them in 1977 in Minneapolis
Still gives me chills…guitar…vocals, hits me deep every time and I’m 55 (it never gets old lol). Love that you got into it💜
For me I was born in the early 90s My dad was the one got me listening to rock and roll
