Honestly this felt like a 27 minute long FaceTime call and I’m OBSESSED.
BRUH Seattle putting a stop sign laying down on the sidewalk is not your fault, maybe it should even be brought up to the city? Guessing it was addressed once the police arrived. And take care of yourself! Don't let a series of bad instances get you down, but also, feel free to be frustrated every now and again. Side note: get AAA if you ever need to get towed! it pays itself back any time you have car troubles.
LITERALLY THIS. This is 100% on the city.
“yeah… the vegan orange chicken didn’t heal my mental illness…” killed me
i was really hoping it would be the lifelong cure scientists have been searching for for decades
It healed mine tbh
I love the idea for the fridge 'overheards'. Sorry about your accident, 'can't do anything right' weeks are SO familiar to me, sending you solidarity xxx
we all experience our fleabag eras from time to time!! so glad to see ya in my comment section i have been LOVING a your content lately ❤️❤️
You should sue the county that wreck occurred in. That stop sign on the sidewalk is negligence
the neighbor that lives on the corner told me he'd seen 16,17,18 cars blow through that same intersection that weekend so it was def an issue
Yeah, not your fault! Who would think to check the sidewalk for a stop sign
I feel like as an anitcapitalist, it’s completely ok to value things sentimentally ! It just means that you actually care about the items that you have and you wouldn’t want them to go to waste
I would argue that liking things that you already have/exist for sentimental reasons is anti-consumerist (if that is the same thing as anticapitalist). Consumerism requires you to buy and replace things constantly.
Okay
if i may offer you my personal mantra for when i fuck up/feel like i can’t do anything right:
i am a human and not a machine, i can’t help but make mistakes from time to time and making mistakes doesn’t make me a bad person, just a normal one
:-)
:')))
So many parts of this video are a reminder that our economic system takes every opportunity to make poor people’s lives harder; literally any one of the “this went wrong” parts would be near life ending for a poor person, let alone if they were all stacked up
totally agree!! i have savings so nothing was ultimately detrimental but more than half this country does not have the ability to pay for these kinds of incidents.
Not mad that this went over 20 minutes AT ALL. So beautifully edited. Thanks for being so open/raw with us.
omg thank you
So excited for the public transport era!
it has served me well so far!!
Looking at moving cities because of the terrible lack of public transport where I live. I am blind, and rideshare prices are rising exponentially, and as a 20 something woman I don’t really feel safe in rideshare anymore. It’s a weird time we live in.
Don’t beat yourself up over the accident. You weren’t negligent, the city/county was in not appropriately replacing the missing stop sign. Honestly, I’d considering suing the county, because someone could be seriously injured. Stop signs have to be 7 feet off the ground in Washington (5 feet in rural areas), so you’re not in the wrong. Idk if there are exceptions for construction zones, but it seems like if they don’t have a regulation replacement pole (I’ve seen them on wooden poles weighted with sandbags at the bottom as temporary measures), they should at least have a flagger out there. I found the heights in Ch 1020 of the washington state DOT manual on their website, if you’d like to look into it for yourself.
I’d hate for your insurance rates to go up when it was the city/county who was negligent. At the very least you could sue the city for the cost of replacing your totaled car. You might be able to get the person you hit on board too, if their vehicle was totaled as well. I’m not a lawyer, but surely there has to be some sort of action you can take, especially if the sign is STILL like that
omfg this is so helpful i'm definitely going to look into this more!!
I LIVE for your content! We’re aligned in our life stages rn, i’m rooting for both of us!
Same, I just moved to a new city too!
Also im sorry about your car! Just finished actually watching lol
Love you!! ❤️❤️❤️ car problems fuckin blow, I’m sorry you had to experience all of that
LOVE U TIFFFF
Hearing you talk about your relationship with your mom was weirdly super validating for me. I've never had that kind of relationship with my mom either, but basically all of my friends do. It's comforting to know I'm not alone and that you can be in your 20s and still developing that relationship
Also major shoutout for the relatable content - I just moved to Philly and it's been a wild ride getting used to a new city 😅
I was just in a car accident where my car (that I've had for 10 years) got totaled around the same time you did, so I really feel you. I'm sorry you had to go through that just after moving. I am hoping you are feeling better! And know you aren't alone!
I’m sorry you had to go through all that!! I used to work at a law firm that dealt with car accidents and I can empathize on how stressful the process can be. Sending you my love and well wishes ♥️
Kat this video is great 💚 i love how open and conversational it is! Keep it up girl
I love how real you are!!
sending you a lot of love!!! you handled this so mindfully and i’m really proud of you :)
AWH ❤️
Hey Katherine! Just wanted to let you know that I’ve been in a car crash in which I was more in the wrong than the other drivers (not entirely but mostly) - no one got hurt, thank goodness- and my emotions were DEFINITELY paralleled to those you were feeling in this vlog! It’s a real life mistake that most people don’t make and it’s so hard to be comfortable with yourself after doing something like that. It still actually makes me mad at myself sometimes even a couple years later unfortunately, but just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone in feeling all of those things after an event that is traumatic in and of itself (:
the car accident was not your fault, don't put yourself down too much!
I really enjoyed this format and would love to see move like this, feels a lot more real and interesting than just seeing one day. Also, I’ve been there and I beat myself up pretty bad over driving mistakes, end of the day accidents happen and be glad you’re all safe and try not to overanalyse it. Easier said than done I know but it can spiral real quick if you dwell and overthink.
Like always, loved your vlog! It feels like we’re friends and we’re just catching up. ‘It’s ok to not be ok’ is a reminder I needed. Also, I need to get myself some of those food huggers, they’re so cutee!
everyone needs food huggers they are ESSENTIAL!!
pls do more of these!! love them and all of the sharings
oh they are COMIN!
I so appreciate you showing your car struggles! I too had an accident this weekend (left an atv running and even with the break in place, it rolled down a hill and hit a fence) and I felt like a total thoughtless failure. You seem to be dealing with your bad luck so thoughtfully, all things considered. It really helped me be a little kinder to myself about my accident
i could always give myself a lil more kindness!! best wishes to you in sorting everything out
wellbutrin girlies who chronically over share let’s goooooooo
but for real, appreciate this content so much & your willingness to be just raw & real about so many topics. rooting for you to conquer this hurdle! 💛
Truly in love w this series
i'm so glad
Yes, I would eat that vegan chicken. Also, thank you for checking in and being honest! It's very refreshing to see people online acting like real people with dimension. I'm watching you from Europe at 1 in the night because I can't sleep because of stress and health worries. I'm eating comfort ramen and feeling very OK with not being OK all the time. You are not alone in having emotions, fucking up and not being everything for everyone all the time. We are all on a strange journey over here 😉
loved this so much ❤️hoping you get some relief from the stress & health worries SO soon.
This vlog literally gave me my daily dose of serotonin. my thoughts watching this vlog: we would make the best of friends & holy shit i need to move to seattle. also loved that you normalized not having this super close relationships with moms because, i too used to be so envious of girlies & their moms who were also their bffs. when i moved across the country me & my mom because so much closer ironically and call all the time to just to “shoot our shit” lol
Kat I love this era and this content.
🥲🥲🥲
loved the editing!!
thank you!!
I loved your last oversharing video, so I look forward to watching this one.
As a non-driver I can’t imagine how difficult this is, but it really doesn’t seem like it’s completely your fault. Putting a stop sign where it’s not in the clear is extremely dangerous! I’m glad you and the other person was okay. That’s really what matters at the end of the day.
I’m so sorry you had to say goodbye to your Camry! Ive been driving a 1998 Camry for the past 12 years and plan on doing so for as long as possible. Hope you’re doing better and thanks for the video! 😘
Love that mirror, great choice! I actually love your style. I do the same thing, I'm decorating with what I love!
I hope your presentation went well!
I just moved to London from the West Coast and haven't made many new friends yet, really appreciate these little vlogs, they feel like someone keeping me company 😂 car problems suck, sorry to hear!!
My insurance went down to normal after 2 years from my accident. Winter was starting and it was the darkest night of the year and the airbag I am so grateful for hit my eye. Big hug! Always take pictures even if you don’t pursue anything always always!
i’m a seattle native, unfortunately it’s a common experience to get into a sticky situation at intersections out here :( they’re terrible! signage-wise and layout wise! but i’m glad you and the other person involved in the accident are safe!
Wet season here can be tough, happy lights/ light boxes can be helpful. My psychiatrist prescribed mine my first winter here. I am really rooting for you to find your people here❤️🌈 we are all over, this really is our city the searching is just so hard.
just secured my own happy light and it is something ELSE
OMG, you had a week! So sorry about the accident but relieved you are ok❤
i love these. thank u
You'll be great ❤ Why does it always seem like everything happens at once? It will soon all be ok again ❤ You are a strong person and I am impressed how you're out here, following your dreams and goals - keep doing you and enjoy it ❤
your curly hair is so pretty!!
thank you ❤️
damn needed this. just got into an accident yesterday. the embarrassment and shame is real. Luckily like you I am ok and no one else was hurt. hoping to get to the other side.
I'm so sorry you had such a rough week. I lived in the PNW and ran into similar problems. On many occasions I encountered stop signs that were obscured and difficult to see and the government is not proactive at all about fixing problems that cause accidents. My parents' car was also towed from my assigned parking spot at my apartment complex because they didn't have a stupid tag on their window (they were parked there for literally 20 minutes). The towing companies are predatory in the PNW. I hope things get better, don't be too hard on yourself!
kath your editing is so well done, I feel like I'm watching an episode of a tv show
thank you!!!
Thrift your picture frames for your gallery wall!!! It takes a little bit more time but it's SO much cheaper and I think looks a lot more fun!
Also feeling worried for winter. Right there with ya. It’s rough.
My husband and I live in Puyallup. About 30 min away from Seattle and he totaled his truck 3 weeks ago. Took us for what seams like forever to find a new vehicle. Expand your search!! We ended up buying for a great deal seen on FB marketplace from someone 2 hours away!
Love your videos
I am so sorry about your accident Kath, thanking God that you and the other driver are okay. Truly does not seem right that the stop sign was lying down on the sidewalk. Inspired by the way that you're putting one foot in front of the other at this time. Sending love and encouragement. Take care!
I had a lot of trouble driving on the freeway and finding parking in Seattle . Especially when i first moved there I had so much anxiety about going out for groceries even. So sorry that this happened to you..
Went to high school in edmonds!! Take the ferry to Kingston from there. Super super fun and cute
I moved to seattle at the same time as you and had a really big swing from doing something and seeing someone every day for the first month to being alone in my apartment for weeks on end. It’s been really hard to go easy on myself and give myself space to mess up when I feel like I’m doing everything wrong, but I’m getting better at it. Good to see the relatable content 😅
we are goin THRU it 2gether
Sorry to hear about your accident. Good thing you're safe. Hope all is well.
I've been where you are Katherout. Parking and not knowing the area well enough and tow trucks. We're rooting for you.
When it comes to insurance you gotta bank on the stop sign not being in the correct spot. It’ll get you a LONGG way. LOVEEE this chatty vlog
I love how your vlogs are getting LESS polished lol! Seriously it’s adorable and I finally greyed out the sub button after lurking for like…. Ever on your channel haha 💕🥰
Katherout, your oversharing makes me want to overshare, too ❤
honestly I hope you're compensated in some way, the city is at fault for that taking away that stop sign. Glad nobody was hurt.
omfg those veggie storage huggers look amazing I am 100% getting a set
RIGHT??? it is such a niche product but perfect
Sorry to hear about your car. I love that gardein orange chicken too. That and the gardein chicken tenders are 👌🏻. Good luck with public transport. You’ll need a “things overheard on public transport” toilet to go with your fridge. Hahaha
The THC will get you! One of the best things I did personally for my SAD was quit smoking. It always seemed to keep my brain out of balance, even when I was only smoking a few times a month.
i’m glad i’m cutting it out now!!
omg just got to the car crash part but what is a stop sign doing on the FLOOR?? so glad you are okay!! mistakes happen all the time. i have worse car mistakes if it makes you feel better lol
FYI when the signalisation is not as it should be, you are automatically not at fault. You are new to the area, you did not know that there was a regular stop sign. in my town Corvallis Oregon, Peter Eschwey was found not guilty of killing an 11 year old girl walking in a crosswalk because one of the crosswalk blinking light was burned out. The city could not charge him.
“Everyone here is very hot and cool” just want you to know that’s why you fit so well there too 💙
omg
I have family in that area and go there every summer you should go to San Juan Island! Especially in summer it's beautiful one of my favorite places ever
After everything, I’m glad you were not harmed in the process! In the wise words of Hannah Montana, everybody makes mistakes 🤷🏼♀️ i found myself in a very similar situation last week finically and mentally which left me doubting myself a bit for making so many mistakes. But in the end, I learned a lot of lessons from it and I felt incredibly thankful for my health! You’re doing great Katherine :) thanks for keeping it real ✌🏼 from ohiooo
So sorry you had an accident. It happens. Gotta love yourself ❤
Haha I struggle with decorating all the time, to be cohesive or to have individual pieces I love that may or may not work together? To have that white, minimalist kitchen or the colourful, vibrant 70s farm house kitchen aesthetic (with a ton of "decorative" items that I will never use) that I love? I have been slowly bringing things into my place over years, and it's interesting how I look at pieces that I once loved and feel very differently now. Or look at other aesthetics that I once thought were boring and beige, but now kinda love. So many conflicting feelings lol. Love that vintage mirror and side table! How do you like that ninja?
ok the ninja is SOOOO loud i don't know if mine is faulty cause i got it used but i have to go into another room while it's blending or my ears ring LMAOOO
@@Katherout I was going to ask if it was loud! I used to work at bed bath and beyond and people used to return Ninjas only because of the noise lol, depends on the model tho
wellbutrin gang where u at
edit: i feel you on the car crash. i got into a pretty bad one when i was 18, one month after i got my license. it took me YEARS to get over it
My first car was a Toyota Camry
see you speak about the food huggers made me cry - if you're feeling less than 100% yet extra emotional lately, that makes the 2 of us x
OMFG i’m emotional about those food huggers too trust me they are very meaningful
You got this! The world is not designed to allow you to thrive and you are doing it anyway! Keep going 🧡🍂😊🎃
yes we love the freedom of an iphone vlog! thinking of u friend. also when you get the itch to go to PDX, you must stop at the society hotel/spa in Bingen WA. it is a DREAM. also i have food huggers too!!!! twinnies!!!
re toxic positivity and shitty situations: I don't know if it's bc I have endured years of ISU football or wut but I think I've been finding a good balance?? to me I think it's about recognizing that shit happens and it is going to impact you and mold you and ya just gotta take a deep breath and take on the wave. I will rep Honda Civic I love mine!
Sign on the ground is very Seattle unfortunately, way too many bad intersections here. Glad you both are okay, car crashes suck sooo much. On the plus side transit is pretty good in Seattle.
I'm sorry this happened to you, I wish you'll get an even better car that fits your needs. I'm sure you'll get the solution for you! It was nice to watch your video and wish you 🤞 luck!
I got towed once for parking within 5 feet of someone's driveway and it was so distressing feeling like I'd messed up and having to pay so much money (pretty sure my car ended up in the same lot yours was in at the end of the video, that image is forever seared in my brain).
Definitely look into getting the collision taken off your insurance - that's the contractor and the city inspector's fault for not making sure that there was temporary signage or a flagger in place! I'm not sure if you met with a police officer on site but if you did there should be an accident report that you can request from the city and hopefully contains at least written evidence that the stop sign was missing.
Call your ins company and ask for a reimbursement for the towing and fees. They should send that back to you
I am going to try the vegan orange chicken if I can find it in my area
Come up to Anacortes, WA!! 24 year old local here🤙🏻
It’s not your fault that the sign was removed. Shit happens. I’m so glad you weren’t hurt. ❤️
Early today I was just checking your channel because you hadn't posted a vloggy type thing in a moment. I really like your very open brain dumps. Even if this is like the worst luck in the world and I'm sure it all too much in the moment.
glad i could deliver a new one, more coming soon
Giving up on THC was kind of sad cause I thought I could be a cool bitch and go hiking while high to connect with nature and shit. Also I'm black and it feels like every other black person is a pot head 💀. But my brain literally just hates it. Once you get over feeling lame it's honestly great. CBD as a sleep aid occasionally and alcohol for a night out is all I need 😌
it served me at one point in my life but not anymore!! glad u were able to figure out what works for you 😎
Please share chickpea recipe pleaseeee looks good
I didn’t even know that they could legally put a stop sign on the sidewalk and the driver be at fault for missing it.
I’m also the same about sharing a hard time but spinning it to end on a high note.
and I thought I liked this girl but when she quote JM that was it, I'm in love now.
Moved to Seattle recently, how do you recommend making friends with no mutual friends in the area ?
Someone anyone plz tell me the name of the song at the end!!!!!
THC+living alone = a lot . Got me down a bad rabbit hole when I was living alone during Covid .
REI LMAOOOOOO
Everyone in the USA should pay their fair share of taxes. The state of Washington is thinking about the following combined Federal and state tax rates: At $ 50,000.00 the rate would go up to 50%; at $ 100,000.00 the rate would go up to 60%; and at $150,000 the rate would go up to 70%. Do not be alarmed, if you were a real socialist then you would be agreeable to all funds over $ 40,000 would go to the government to support four other households where no one works. If you say that you would not be able to afford your apartment then the answer is to get one or two roommates.
I was planning on purchasing a vehicle this year but looks like it’ll have to wait. I don’t want to buy a new car that’s 30% more than the price last year.
if you can afford to wait you'd save some $$$ !
The entire video was amazing but 25:36 was perfect for a stand-alone video. It was so raw and powerful. Also, your outfit in that clip was great. This could be your signature vlog look. Maybe with a cigarette instead of a mask. Maybe keep the wrecked car too. Tow it into your backyard and use it to record vlogs. Or if you want to flex…you could have someone tow the wrecked car around town while you sit in the car, vlogging.
Also, the vibe you spoke of…that you get from using your iPhone vs a DSLR…and how that puts you on this path to making more raw diary type content…is very smart. People love to watch/listen to a well told diary. Preferably told in real time when the experience happened. Rather than content with higher production value that requires more work and time, but is more fake.
UA-cam is a platform for actors with a diary. The very first video on UA-cam was a guy vlogging at the zoo. And the rest is history.
People desperately want relationships. Even if they suffer from severe anxiety, they still want to be as close to people as they can safely get. Stories are very popular because they are basically relationships. Don’t have any stories for your next vlog…no problem…just talk about your relationship with something. Anything will do.
A diary-vlog approach to content creation on UA-cam could be the ultimate antidote for creator burnout. You could literally make diary-vlogs forever.
However, the catch is that talking about your day isn’t easy. It’s hard to be real, authentic, honest, and articulate that in an interesting way...to a camera. It's the biggest barrier to success on UA-cam.
Stop saying you are at fault. talk to an attorney. the stop sign is suppose to be displayed at a certain height so that it is seen. think Peter Eschwey. He killed an 11 year old girl in a crosswalk. He was very sober just like you. talk to an attorney. the company that was doing the road work should be paying for your new car and the increase insurance fees and such. They were negligent in not keeping the stop sign visible.
What's the cost of living in Seattle
Seattle is amazing. I’ve lived here for 5 years and I don’t want to leave lol
Edit sorry about your car accident. Glad you’re safe
I got two $75 parking tickets in my first week of moving to Chicago for also not recognizing parking signs then I had to spend an additional amount to get a sticker for my car or risk getting more tickets literally every day- definitely not exactly the same as what happened to you but you’re not stupid for moving to a new city and not knowing some things or missing parking signs. Also why tf would they put a stop sign on the actual ground ?? But Glad you & the other person were okay, seems like a shitty few days for sure 😭 moving & adjusting is hard, life is chaotic sometimes but you’ll probably look back on this & be like remember that chaotic few months I took public transit after I wrecked my car & how I got to see Seattle in a different light & I met so and so & discovered that one place & now I’m all settled & this place is home & that’s just a memory?? ✨✨ I’m taking a firm stance that this is just ch 1 in your main character Seattle storyline (toxic positivity not intended)
Do you think that it may be time for you to get a bicycle? Seattle transportation seems like a bike-friendly place. Bikes can help you learn your area in much finer detail too. Stay safe and lots of love!
Name of the song at the end?
Best of Intentions by Aidan Wells!
