  • we're back baby. i'm here to spill my guts in this next chapter of oversharing in seattle!!! we talk what feels right and what feels wrong at this time in my life. i'm continuing this series because of how vocal you've been about how much you've connected with it! i'm always afraid to express any pride in my work but there's just something different with the way this content hits... a tonal shift. it means the most when i hear some of you say i make you feel safe. that's all i've ever wanted to do on this godforsaken site! in short, i love you and turn those notifs on cause more is coming before you know it.

I don't want to burden you with my struggles, but I genuinely and sincerely thank you Katherine. For the first time in a long time I feel like I have hope and can breathe again. I hope you know that what you do has a real, tangible, lifelong positive impact on this world.

I felt the EXACT same way about Seattle/Bellingham. I grew up in Florida and it never truly felt like "home". Something about it was just off. I moved up to Seattle in 2014 and up to Bellingham a year later. It makes a huge difference to love where you live and my quality of life has improved so much since coming to WA. There's something about the weather, natural beauty, and cities here that just feel right. It's really cool to see someone else that feels the same way, thank you so much for sharing!

the way you talked about the parasocial relationship taken up by people who used to know you - it really makes me think of how i feel about instagram. like people follow me who i haven’t spoken to in years and even as someone who doesn’t post regularly, it feels suuuuper weird that these people have any amount of insight into my life and maybe even still feel like they know what i am about??

Really interesting to hear your reflections on your time in NYC!! I was born in the city and raised in the suburbs of NY and South Jersey so I've always been close by and now currently live in the Bronx. I'd be interested to get your recommendations on travel to California state parks and other places that you went to often growing up because in 2022 I hope to make it a goal to see more of the country! I loved going to Las Vegas with friends a few years ago and especially think it would be cool to see more of the west coast and the pacific northwest!

I ABSOLUTELY had a relationship with LA and NYC especially because I didn't visit as a child, but my parents lived in the LA area and I was born there. I had relationships with cities internationally as well because I felt a deep unsettling divide between where I was and where I felt like I would fit into. I still feel like something in me needs to know how I would feel living there and I want to return to living in LA to complete some circle that has lived in me for a long time. I know some of the romanticization is just that, but in the times I've been able to be in metro areas the overwhelming peace I feel has confirmed that there's something beyond the romantics that is drawing me to places like that. As ridiculous as it sounds visiting places like Paris, and London felt like this homecoming. I have an extremely complicated relationship with the concept of home and while I'm still figuring it out I know that eventually a major city will probably be in the cards simply because of the peace that exists outside of my daydreams. (sorry this was so long and I hope it makes sense, this is something I have thought about a lot but never heard many other people talk about)

You’ve made me a believer in Astrocartography too. It’s funny to me how everyone experiences places differently. I visited Seattle for the first time last summer and I felt a constant unsettled, overwhelmed, anxious feeling the whole four days I was there. For no reason. But in San Diego, I felt peace even with chaos going on around me. Lo and behold, that chart you posted said the same thing!

You're such a great speaker! Your train of thought is honestly really beautiful and an essay in itself. Question - You had an interview with another news source where you mentioned how you might feel unsettled to have future employers find your channel. Do you think those kind of thoughts are overdramatic because people don't really care or if not, how do you deal with that? Started my channel and feeling unsettled. 😅

How you feel about Seattle, I feel about Washington, D.C. I never wanted to move to NY or LA, though I did grow up visiting both because I have family in those cities. Those cities feel much less accessible to me. I'm lucky that I grew up right outside D.C., in Maryland. We grew up taking bike rides through the city, exploring the free museums, going to the parks. And now I live here and love it so much! So many people feel like D.C. is a transient city, and it can be, especially with politics. But it's so much more than that. D.C. has such a thriving literary and art community, which are my kind of people. There's green spaces, there's friendly people, there's so much history, there's soo many dogs. I'm grateful -- and privileged -- to be able to live here and hope I'll be able to continue doing so.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Seattle (still want to visit one day!), making friends, and anti-capitalism. Would be curious to hear more of your thoughts on renting, buying, housing in general, and more of the Buy Nothing groups, tool borrowing things you mentioned.

Re New York: As someone who grew up right outside newyork city and then moved to the Rockies right after college, I realized how nyc suburbian kids are raised on the dream to live in nyc, and it’s a manufactured desire, i think it’s crazy how capatlism convinces kids that they want to live in major cities based on their jobs

I did not really fantasize about LA or NYC as someone who grew up in PA and I never visited them. I visited NYC in my adult age but I felt overwhelmed! I did always want to visit/move to San Francisco and I don’t really know why. As an adult now, I love NYC content but still feel like I could never live there coming from a small/medium city. Also, your content is great! As a 24 year old on my own, it’s super realistic and comforting. ❤️

I'm wondering if it's because I watched a lot of 90s san franscisco-based media and I lived there so I felt pretty content with the bay & knew that tv wasn't necessarily reality? I ended up visiting nyc around age 14 and I didn't like it because I thought it was just a busier version of san francisco lol. I still need help reading my astrocartography chart. Funnily enough not one line runs through California, where I was born and raised. But a line runs through the last city I lived in overseas. What does it all mean??? I also think that places become "home" because of the people not the place. If my family had decided to settle in another state I'm sure I would think fondly of that state. Plus it took me leaving the country (USA) for several years to appreciate the beauty of California. I did not like it when I was younger but now that I'm in my 30s I love it.

I get so sad when people who admit they aren’t familiar with astrology ( or any other subject )also call it pseudo-science :/ Just because something hasn’t been given proper funding to study or been studied by professionals in the United States doesn’t mean it can’t be real or have any validity.
