We REALLY Needed This! Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 401

  • It's been a while since we posted a video like this...No disasters, no storms, no hospital, just pure cruising bliss. We had forgotten what it was like to feel at ease, and man did we need this! And for all you Sierra fans out there, brace yourselves for some cuteness overload in this one 🥰
After all the chaos and stress of running from Hurricane Kay, the dust had finally settled and the seas had calmed, so we pull the anchor and set sail for Puerto Don Juan which is actually the anchorage we diverted away from at the last minute when we decided to opt for riding out the hurricane in San Carlos. We arrive to have our minds completely blown at the beauty and stillness of this sheltered paradise. It was such a relief to feel safe, secure, and relaxed, and we able to slip right back into the cruiser life with a bon fire on the beach, some wild coyote encounters, and of course no return to normalcy would be complete without at least one system failure onboard 😂

The condensor coils (black item pointed to) is what as described transfers the heat from the cabins to the (via refrigerant) raw water and overboard. Water cooled condensors can fowl if not protected from marine growth. You did the right thing by circulating the solution to remove that growth. You should put a strainer in each unit secondary to the main. Clean condensors equal better heat transfer and a better temperature drop allowing the compressor to work less

Seeing Sierra's reactions to the world around her gives me joy because it's unfiltered. When my son was 3 or 4 years old he used to to say he was going to lay down for a few minutes to rest, you would go into his room half an hour later and see he had put himself down for his afternoon nap. Ah, the toddler auto-nap.

I love the Sierra sounds, she’s so cute and has such a great personality. She probably doesn’t even realize how entertaining she actually is! I still think about when she got her bike & rode it into the “kitchen” and said “Woo hoo”! It was just hilarious and I don’t think she was even talking much then, especially to the camera. Most kids would’ve probably cried, but she grinned & made the most of her situation. Someone else must’ve loved it too & put it in the Intro, Thanks! ❤

Great vid, as always! Seems like maybe a good move to cut a tee with a valve into the raw water intake and the discharge line to allow you to do the acid flush more easily/regularly. Another bonus is that the AC pump can then double as emergency bilge pump as well. I did this on my little Sabre 30 with every pump intake (wash down, engine raw water, fresh water, etc.) to give myself maximum bilge clearing capacity in an emergency.

Not sure if you will make it there or not but on the Pacific side of the peninsula is Bajia Magnolana aka Magnolana Bay where the momma grey whales go to birth their calves. The bay is protected by a network of sand barrier islands with not much on them but washed up sea treasures and coyotes. When we kayaked through that area we stayed on several of the islands. We would wake up in the mornings to the coyotes licking the morning dew off of our tents because there was no fresh water. In the evening we would pay tag with them in the dunes. We would chase them then they would chase us laughing their funny yelling laugh. It was a magical experience and definitely a core memory.

Great video, and the never ending,
    B. O. A. T., break out another thousand, boat project of boat projects, in over 100 degree heat.
I admire you guys because of it.
I think all the videos you guys have made are awesome.
There definitely pros and cons in the warmer and cooler climates.
I guess I’ve grown accustomed to the cooler temperatures in the northern hemisphere, California to Alaska, commercial fishing.
If you get cold, yo can put another layer of clothing on.
And then there’s days that I’ve followed you guys, and the tropical weather, how can you go wrong?
The amazing journey that you all have been on, is truly amazing.
Thank you for bringing us all on your adventures. What a gift that you guys have provided to all of us still watching and following along.
Take care, all the best, and God bless.
A retired, North Pacific, Bering Sea, and West Coast Commercial Fisherman, and survivor.
