We REALLY Needed This! Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 401

- It's been a while since we posted a video like this...No disasters, no storms, no hospital, just pure cruising bliss. We had forgotten what it was like to feel at ease, and man did we need this! And for all you Sierra fans out there, brace yourselves for some cuteness overload in this one 🥰
After all the chaos and stress of running from Hurricane Kay, the dust had finally settled and the seas had calmed, so we pull the anchor and set sail for Puerto Don Juan which is actually the anchorage we diverted away from at the last minute when we decided to opt for riding out the hurricane in San Carlos. We arrive to have our minds completely blown at the beauty and stillness of this sheltered paradise. It was such a relief to feel safe, secure, and relaxed, and we able to slip right back into the cruiser life with a bon fire on the beach, some wild coyote encounters, and of course no return to normalcy would be complete without at least one system failure onboard 😂

Kirby and Jody are the best! Glad you guys got to meet them.
You guys made your own luck on the hurricane...it's called experience.
Your skills at videography and storytelling have grown immensely over the years. Sierra remains a show stealer.
Thanks so much Bill!
I was thinking the same.
@@davethefed They continue to amaze and amuse me and I've been following them since Brian and Brady were in the Solomons.
She sure is!! She's a darling for sure!
Brian tackles the best projects.
Definitely have to be a master of ship systems. Thanks for sharing the journey.
I’m looking forward to seeing your videos of your work on your family
The condensor coils (black item pointed to) is what as described transfers the heat from the cabins to the (via refrigerant) raw water and overboard. Water cooled condensors can fowl if not protected from marine growth. You did the right thing by circulating the solution to remove that growth. You should put a strainer in each unit secondary to the main. Clean condensors equal better heat transfer and a better temperature drop allowing the compressor to work less
OFF all the sailing channels i see BRIAN you are by far the best man to explain when things a wrong and how to fix it love youir channel just startet from episode 1 again hehe
great episode, dodged a bullet with the storm. Great story telling thank you.
Sierra is stealing the shells and the show. Such personality.
Your the definition of doing something kool
Great video, it’s always a good time for adventure, travel and new experience but sadly good adventures don’t come cheap
As a kid I have always loved traveling and adventures, but when I got older and realized it required a lot of money I got sad and discouraged
This guy really sounds amazing, to tell you the truth I have been in search of a good investment broker for quite some time now, I hope this guy is reliable and I can make Some money with his help
This is really awesome, I feel so happy and lucky for this information, please how can I get in contact with him ?
Thanks for the help guys, I hope this mr Robert Andrew will be able to change my financial situation
Great video! Nice to see some relaxing, and maybe not so much the boat work, but that was still better than dodging storms and hurricanes.
"If you are not screwing up, then it means you are not trying any new cool stuff"😅 that's a life lesson right there. Screw ups are the salt of life and the road to wisdom. Thanks for sharing yours with us!
Really enjoy your videos. Brian is the absolute killer handyman… wished you lived in my neighborhood!!!
Have seen every one of them. Love them all.
Norway man traveling down eurpean waterways. No sail but motoring for 2 3 4 year. Then 50 fot sailboat like you gyes.
Love it
Thankyou Delos
Well done hot sweaty job, feel for you there.
Add that to your preventive maintenance list, you don't want your seawater system blocking up.
Brian's seeming natural mechanical ability never fails to blow my mind -- I mean is there anything he cannot do? What an incredibly smart guy. And Kazza you blow me away too in a thousand ways. Amazing couple, lovely family
Happy little girl.!
The Nugz has her very own portable Sydney Opera house she gets carried in.
How cool.
Delos and her story have never been more enjoyable, or provided more clarity than now.
The level of videography / cinematography is reaching new heights simultaneously. Be well, Sierra Kazza & B.
Woohoooo! another Delos episode!
is it worth close looping the AC condenser water through a heat exchanger to salt water. that way you can keep the barnicles and nasty acid flushes away from the expensive ac units. Glad you guys had a better week.
Gotta love that boat life! Our favorite problems are always the plumbing problems........ which I think Brian likes as well! Hello from a fellow sailing Flagstaff--rican!
Keep having that fun someone got to do it
It always amazes me at just how knowledgeable and how much skill Brian has at diagnosing, understanding and fixing all the issues on the boat! Super impressive!
Omg Brian!! I love the silver toes!!!
The one thing I remember about one of my little girls, is her crispy little smile . Something you never forget .
I loved your old videos just as much as I love your new videos even though they have evolved in many ways over the years. I think it is one of the strongest characteristics of your channel, being able to evolve over time and keep your audience satisfied and interested.
True you’ve come a long way I do miss buy us a beer and Nugget has replaced Brady and all the girls were not kids anymore very graceful transition love you and your family big fan here thanks for sharing 🖖
classic episode.
i like.
id like to see another "business in the front party in the back" episode.
Haha maybe we will have to bring it back one of these days 😂
Sierra or Kazza painted Brian's toenails. I love it!
Tyvm, yeah it Delos time
Both of you are great parents, Brian, you just confirmed you are a cool Dad as well. at 17:30 Love the Painted Toenails! Cool Dad Award!!! Oh and great job on the AC hoses, what a pain! Stay safe and the "Whahooo" on the end, priceless!
Seeing Sierra's reactions to the world around her gives me joy because it's unfiltered. When my son was 3 or 4 years old he used to to say he was going to lay down for a few minutes to rest, you would go into his room half an hour later and see he had put himself down for his afternoon nap. Ah, the toddler auto-nap.
That child each day is looking more and more like her Mom. Good for her.
Between the smiles and the run on deck or on beaches, the nap here and there and pulling the rope, Sierra is both a rainbow and a firework of moods :D
I hope y’all got jiggy with it when you found her napping on the floor! We need a Sierra 2.0!! She is sooooo special, as are you two! Thank you guys so much for sharing your journey with us for so many years. I can’t express enough how your videos help me live vicariously thru y’all.
You guys are already heading to LA that’s awesome you guys should head up to the Pacific Northwest and sail the San Juan islands there’s orcas killer whale J pods, amazing fishing The Canadian border is right there. I’m 22 years old and I just started my UA-cam channel and bought my first sailboat a 31’ foot Hunter sloop 1985, I’m saving all my money to outfit it and Travel around the world for the rest of my life. You guys not only inspired me but you guys gave me a reason to live I was very depressed and lost in life I’m currently two years sober working my tail off to achieve my dream. Thank you guys for posting these amazing videos not only gives me educational but entertainment, Fairwinds and happy sailing y’all! 🌊⛵️
I love the Sierra sounds, she’s so cute and has such a great personality. She probably doesn’t even realize how entertaining she actually is! I still think about when she got her bike & rode it into the “kitchen” and said “Woo hoo”! It was just hilarious and I don’t think she was even talking much then, especially to the camera. Most kids would’ve probably cried, but she grinned & made the most of her situation. Someone else must’ve loved it too & put it in the Intro, Thanks! ❤
Isla Tiburon off the mainland Sea of Cortez is where Les Stroud Survivorman did an early survival episode 10 - 15 years ago. I think it's still posted on UA-cam.
As ever - inclusive, inspiring and generous of spirit. Thank you Delos family and tribe. Stay well and postive. Love from London Landlubbers xx
9:15 What a smile!!!
This was such a peaceful video. Sierra is fun to watch!!! The ending of her “Whahooo” is special!
Such a great expression in such an early vocabulary, she's a sweet lassie.
I know you folks make all the easy stuff look simple, but the effort you always show is heartwarming, to say the least. thankyou for the videos.
Sierra crashes much like her old man Brian after a two day bender. Same form... horizontal; same style... face down holding the floor down. Genetics man!!! Simply amazing!!! Beautiful vid crew!!
Thank you
Thanks for my weekly smile.
Thank you for the shows they are not over till Sierra rides her bike. Love it.
It seems like yesterday when you got lost in the Woodlands in Maine with Bill, carrying a very small little girl.
it's all been said below and I agree that you all just fantastic , I have watched your story unfold for years now and never tire of your happy existence wherever you are . Great Camera and the best vidiotographers. . Thank you. Peter Australia.
Great job on the AC repair, I was so impressed you did it by yourself improvising on the Barnacle Buster. Love your journey and your beautiful familiy and Sierra is precious and beautiful. You are living......
I love sea of Cortez. Been there several times but always on land.
Great video! What I love most about Delos; a little travel, a little boat living, a little boat work, and some fun times.
I just figured it out. We subscribers get to go along on your adventure, particularly fun now that Sierra has entered the picture. But like all grandparents, we get to enjoy her during the moments we see with her smile and laughter but get to hand her back to you for the tough job that parenting is. And just for the record, you both seem to be doing a great job under circumstances most of will never experience. Thanks for sharing..
Iv been with from NZ Australia start now I'm a crew member on a 57 blue water cruise racing yacht
This is what I was looking for but it didn’t have the option to download
Great vid, as always! Seems like maybe a good move to cut a tee with a valve into the raw water intake and the discharge line to allow you to do the acid flush more easily/regularly. Another bonus is that the AC pump can then double as emergency bilge pump as well. I did this on my little Sabre 30 with every pump intake (wash down, engine raw water, fresh water, etc.) to give myself maximum bilge clearing capacity in an emergency.
I really hope we get to meet you guys after we get started. I have a Toddler too.
As a contractor and blue collar worker my entire life I love watching Brian get down and dirty to fix shit. He looks like a master at just getting down and dirty to do whatever is needed to fix the issue. Mad props bro. Not to many men out there know how and are willing to do the work themselves.
@Justin Frederick - I agree, watching Brian tackle any and all problems by himself is inspiring! His willingness to tackle any problem is good to see.
Oh... Brian, that nail-polish.... ;) Sparkling silver suits you....
Also I love your earliest videos. Never hate on them. They are so amazing because of how raw and basic the are. These are the videos that got me hooked so many years ago.
Ah yes! Great memories, thanks. We loved the Sea of Cortez. So much fun. So much sea life. Incredible whale encounters. Enjoy. And Sierra just keeps getting cuter. And growing!
Thankful you guys got some good times after the hurricane. Been following for more years than I can count. Thinking about how many miles Delos has under her keel, and how many smiles your adventures have brought us, I can't think of another You Tube Channel that holds such a standard.
Watching you become parents and Sierra grow, as my grandchildren grow too, said. makes me remember to stop and "live in the moment" as Karin said. Life is short, there are only so many sunrises and sunsets for each of us, and we sure as heck better stop and appreciate them. Thanks for the reminder.
Very cute having Her passed out in the same place I think there's video of you pasta outing same place .
You guys need to get a sponsor that does those bug things with battery-operated areas to kill all the bugs in a certain Zone I don't know , what you guys think.
Love that y'all are just you. My real life heroes fighting against the GREAT cooperate facade. Live free!
I love how you show both that fun and the work of boat and family life.
Also, love the old school soundtrack at the end of the video. Brings back great Delos memories..
Just began watching sailing videos and I have to admit Delos is a beautiful, well equipt vessel.
Not sure if you will make it there or not but on the Pacific side of the peninsula is Bajia Magnolana aka Magnolana Bay where the momma grey whales go to birth their calves. The bay is protected by a network of sand barrier islands with not much on them but washed up sea treasures and coyotes. When we kayaked through that area we stayed on several of the islands. We would wake up in the mornings to the coyotes licking the morning dew off of our tents because there was no fresh water. In the evening we would pay tag with them in the dunes. We would chase them then they would chase us laughing their funny yelling laugh. It was a magical experience and definitely a core memory.
I had a good laugh when Brian mentioned boat project cussing! I am in the middle of installing a water maker on my sail boat and the cussing has been next level, I am thinking cussing was invented by sailors working on boat projects!
Its always a pleasure watching your videos on TV and UA-cam
the Nugget is SO Awesome!!!!!
"If you're not screwed up, you're not trying anything cool" 👍👍 Well that's my excuse also, Skipper 👍😅😅
Thanks
Absolutely, your music and videos are EXCELLENT!!!
Your little girl is such a sweetheart. What a wonderful adventure you all share.
I left the Austraian Navy to marry my Lady, but the sea will always be in my soul.
So enjoy watching your adventures, sail on!
@15:25 Like the silver toenails Brian. 😄
Sierra is such a cutie, yet she is the spitting image of her grandfather.
She does!!! That big, endearing smile!
Thought the same thing. Time for a GRANDPA VISIT!!!
Great anchorage, You guys always find the best places to play.
Even I'm relieved for you guys! After all the craziness of running from the hurricane you deserve some R&R
I go back often and rewatch the early episodes..brings back great feelings.
I could actually use basically a 10 hour edit of just boat projects to play while at work. Seems a little dumb but there have been times where I've been in a jam and asked "what would cpt bri do?". Much love from NC!
My goodness - seeing Nugget so big, and becoming such a good little talker and helper!
Kids are a lot of work the first two years then they flower into little people. Then they provide lots of joy. Then they turn into little monsters. Then you have an empty nest. We are at the empty nest phase of life but watching you guys reminds us of all of the fun times you are having now. We also did not have much help the first two years but we survivedl. Sierra has been a joy to watch growing up. I almost feel like she is our grandchild too. Much love guys. Thank you for taking us around the world with you.
Now that is what I’m talking about, just people having fun 👍
Hello I hope you are feeling better, the hurricane looked awful. Sierra is so lovely such a happy little girl.
Sierra is just amazing 🌞 what a absolute angel you 2 are raising. Every week you can see her little personality shining through just beautiful to watch her grow up on a weekly basis 😄 and the surroundings and places that you all see are such special moments and memories that she'll remember forever. I've been following your journey from day 1 and your channel is the best on UA-cam bar none 👍
Usually when the little ones go off naps they still need them occasionally heh and do this. Its hilarious ya.
A man has to love his daughter very much to make such a bold statement like those toes.
Hey Bryan, you may want to consider changing that AC coolant loop to a closed loop, and insert a water/water intercooler. It wouldn't guarantee that you would get clogged up with barnacles, but would keep all the seawater components in the engine room.
Brian, I fix stuff. All the time. Tractors, mower decks, boats, belts, pullys, plumbing, electrial. And none of it as a career. I have stuff, it breaks all the time, and I have to fix it. AND it always takes three times longer than I hoped. I am SO GLAD to know their is another fix-it-guy out there who is constantly chest deep in fixing broken shit. Your fix-it videos are my favorite. Way to go! AC is back on thanks to Fix-It-Man!
Love it when little kids just crash, whenever, wherever. Just fall over and rest. Cheers!!
The sea water system flush sounds like something you might want to put on your regular PM schedule. Thanks for the tip. Now I know that I'll have to do that on a regular basis. Woo Hoo!
Sierra and crew, when is my little brother coming? courage! everything will be fine! God bless this wonderful family!
When you showed Sierra asleep on the cabin sole, I remembered my youngest daughter. She often fell asleep in the middle of action. I remember watching her rolling on the floor. In the middle of a roll, she slowed. Then her arm and leg that were in the air slowly sank to the floor. She was asleep. I wish that I could fall asleep so easily at 71.
Muriatic acid works great to take care of this problem. Everything just dissolves after letting it react.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Thank you very much.✌️
Wow, some fantastic shots out there on the blue. The Nugs sparked out was funny. Great beach party. You always go above and beyond when doing boat projects, hat's off too you Brian.
Right on,
Great video, and the never ending,
B. O. A. T., break out another thousand, boat project of boat projects, in over 100 degree heat.
I admire you guys because of it.
I think all the videos you guys have made are awesome.
There definitely pros and cons in the warmer and cooler climates.
I guess I’ve grown accustomed to the cooler temperatures in the northern hemisphere, California to Alaska, commercial fishing.
If you get cold, yo can put another layer of clothing on.
And then there’s days that I’ve followed you guys, and the tropical weather, how can you go wrong?
The amazing journey that you all have been on, is truly amazing.
Thank you for bringing us all on your adventures. What a gift that you guys have provided to all of us still watching and following along.
Take care, all the best, and God bless.
A retired, North Pacific, Bering Sea, and West Coast Commercial Fisherman, and survivor.
