PINNED DOWN by Hurricane Agatha 😱 Now What? Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 384

- What happens when you mix an incoming hurricane, some rowdy sailors, a tattoo gun, and lots and lots of beers???
After arriving to Mexico after our 5 day passage, we were super stoked to dive right into everything this coast has to offer...but mother nature had other plans for us. What we hoped to have been a little 3 day stop over turned into 3 weeks as the strongest hurricane to ever hit the pacific coast of Mexico in the month of may rolled in to the north of us, and then blasted headwinds in the exact direction we wanted to go for the foreseeable forecast. But in true Delos fashion, we decided to drink a few beers and roll with it, leading to an airbnb pool party, some tattoos, lots and lots of beer, a trip to Guatemala, and of course boat projects galore.

Zihuatanejo . . . That's where Andy Dufresne went when he busted out of Shawshank
Red too!
This random “pick a pic” thing is the best way to refreshen your memory of the many places you’ve been to. As what Brian says “I like it a lot”. Keep well guys!
Love the wall of fame/shame section! Great episode Delos - as always. Thanks for the hard work you put into making these.
Bonus if you can give relative time or episode number so we can re-live
Love the wall of shame, I would of put my own comments on but the woke orks on UA-cam blocked more comment
ive been a delos fan for so long i knew where each picture was from before he said the story, it was awesome !
Brian as a machinist and having spent more than enough time in the field I can tell you with absolute assurance that everyone who finds fault with your methods on repairing that pump can fluf right back to their ideal little worlds. In the field your best friend is ingenuity. There's no fancy tools but you have to get it done. Keep it up, you're doing a great job
Agreed
Well said. Couldn't agree more.
28 years in NZ Army, on ops they are called ‘expedient repairs’... do what is need with what you have at the time, crack on mate...
I'm amazed at just how much Brian knows about repairing things aboard Delos. Love, love the Wall Of Shame revisit segment. Fun to relive the many fun memories.
Despite all that beer. I’m a cheap date. Can’t drink without becoming helpless.
Sailing around the world he better know.
That’s the engineer in him. He definitely understands mechanics and the processes of all the different types of equipment on board. He would make an excellent chief engineer on any yacht.
My favorite thing its ever said was a rumor about Brian fixed shattered glass
@@ufodude1000 13 year of fixing that boat, he better know
I can't believe how long we've gone without seeing an impeller! This must be a Delos record! ;)
lol
🤣
love the wheel of fortune segment. Brings back memories for a long time subscriber
Love the wall of shame. Been here since the beginning and the retro memories are the best!
I love the cute (and funny) video of Sierra capturing priceless moments. The bicycle clip is a classic. I'll never get tired of that.
"Woohoo!"
Absolutely. When you hear Sierra's 'Woo-hoo' there's nothing wrong anywhere.
Sierra's woohoo is already iconic. It's the new anthem for SV Delos, known on the seven seas and for the centuries to come.
A swallows poop, represented by the dot, is a very good omen. Meanings of humility and a respect for Mother Earth. Nourishing her body with your actions/movements.
Or some bs like that 😂
@Beta Syndicate And getting pooped on by the government is a BAD omen....
My father was a seaman, and he retired from work when he was 65 y.o. He has spent approx. 40 years working as a sailor, and just spend a rugged 12 years with us (his family) where each year he will only have 1 month vacation. He always told me when I was a child that everytime they see swallow, it means that the land is just nearby. He died at the age of 70 with lung cancer - stage 4 and I still remember his face and his expression when he was telling the story of the swallow over and over again, every year during his vacation. But his famous line as a seaman? He said: "Son, always test the water before you dive into it". 😢
Thank you Brian and Karin for sharing all of the wonderful places you have traveled to.
I love watching your videos. Stay safe and locking forward to your next video..
That wall has so much history... Unsantized, it has remarkable memories... Just as it should...
Hi Brian & Kaza.
I follow many sailors on you tube. By far, you are my favorites. Of all of them, Brian is probably the best sailor & navigator (although Riley's pretty good too). But to me, Brian is definitely the best a fixing anything on the boat. These repair segments are my favourite (Canadian spelling). Like you, I've had my boat for a very long time - 21 years, and I can fix just about anything. But you are on another level.
My wife likes when you narrate the history of wherever you are.
Please keep going.

The wall of shame of fame!!! I love it! I can’t believe I’ve been watching you guys for 7 years now! Back when Josje was on the boat!!
Call it 'Another Pic From The Wall!' That was fun!
Phallic mignon... Love that. Do 'em all. It's been fun watching for all these years.
I love the photos segment. It will bring back so many memories I'm sure. Brady on a spree wasn't focused on in the videos from back then that I recall, but it was clear he made "many friends" during that time, processing what happened. We all deal with stuff differently.
I'm so glad you started telling old photo stories, because even as someone who has watched every episode, so many of them were not in any episode. 🤩
i'm so proud of myself. I yelled out "St Helena" even before Brian did. A testament to how hoked I am on your travel posts!
Love that wall of shame segment, brings back great memories of my younger days.
Love the segment down memory lane. That is the main reason for taking pictures, to reminisce in the future.
I love that segment!!! Brings back memories from past episodes.
Love you guys and been watching for several years. Please don't take this the wrong way, but this episode was the best I've seen in quite a while. It sorta brought back many of the free-spirited, liberated, partying times of the past LOL.
You should take each picture and write its story…and create a book in doing so. What a wonderful picture/story book it would make.
Love your ink brother.
My grandfather was in the Navy and due to his rank (Chief Yeoman of Signals) he had loads of amazing tattoos.
I sadly never saw them… he died off the coast of South Africa in 1943… he had survived the First War having been at many icon sea battles.
I’m on a mission to find photos of his ink and one day get some similar.
Oh yeah, keep the wall of fame going! That was funny as hell. I am always in awe of the powers of Mr. Fixit.....
Love the diagram explaining the sailor tats. And the manta wave tat story! Lots of great info. Glad y'all got off the water and stayed safe.
Love the wall of fame shame! Revisiting all of the memories you have made with friends from all around the world. Yes!
I have been watching your videos from the beginning.....it continues to amaze me the way you look at life. It is absolute beauty!!! Well done
“I love Mexico so much.” Me too, Brian. Me too. 👊🏼
The sailor tattoo chart was way cool!! Thanks for sharing as I never quite knew what most of those meant but have seen most of them. LOVE LOVE the wall of fame/shame segment!!
Love the wall of fame. There is a lot of history on that wall. A bunch of Swallows worth!
Love it ... after all .... isn't that why we take photos?... to relive memories!
We took the bait and started watching from the beginning again. Nothing to do here in NC. Waiting out Hurricane Ian and binge watching Delos from the beginning. Brady in the green man suit. 😛
Nothing but LOVE !!!!
Ребята вы 👍👍👍спасибо вам👍👍👍
Brian please do a collective video of your favorite tacos. As a Mexican I love watching everyone’s favorite tacos from the vast diversity of Mexico you’ve seen
love the Wall Of Shame revisit segment. Fun to relive the many fun memories. I agree, more please.
What a cool idea for a final segment on Delos. I vote to keep it and do a couple of stories each episode. Like kazza does one and Brian or even Sierra pick one.
I'm sure there's many many awesome stories on that wall. Wall of fortune is amazing! Keep it going.
Brian, always keep your old bearings. You can take them apart and use a dremel tool to slightly open up the inside diameter of the race. That will give you the perfect sized tool to help you press on/off new bearings...
Sending all the love I possibly can from Canada. Love the shame wall segment. Keep it positive and keep sharing your love with all of us.
I LOVE the Wall of Shame segment!!!!!
Its fun seeing Sierra grow. What a personality.
Love the wall of fortune (wall of shame) segment. Stories are the best!. Sail on!
I loved the wall of fortune bit and I loved getting to see little snippets of sierra!!!
Love the new segment. We think we're going to go back to the beginning again. There is so much that we don't remember.
I'm just usually in the back ground enjoying EVERYTHING you do. But I have to comment. What a hard case personality Sierra has developed/got. I think these days I get a giggle out of every EP. Gorgeous we thing.
And it's amazing all these sailor kids are developing into such wonderful children of the world. I shouldn't say this but Sierra would be my favourite.
Your t-shirt featuring Alex and Bubbles, brought back many memories. I was following the Bubbles blog when they came across Delos at a kava ceremony in Fiji (If memory serves me right). That led me to start following you guys, and I have not regretted any of it. Thanks.
Those old photos are brilliant
Great video! I love the wall of fame/shame you did!! Also seeing Sierra at the end on her bike. 😂😂 You always make me laugh, on days I don't want to! Thanks & happy sailing!!!
A bit of Delos nostalgia sounds awesome. Bring on the wall of fame/shame!
watched right up to the last second and Sierra got me when I thought it was safe to take a drink of my soda ... the 'woohoo' at the end of her epic ride caught me and now there's soda everywhere lol
HaHa I love that Max accidently added a bit of bird poop falling from the other swallow, which makes the whole tattoo even better!
Aussie here..love sailing and love it all..xo
Your Wall of Shame/Fame has grown and expanded as well was your Family in the 7 years I have followed since I met a met a Salty Sailor at North Beach Marina in San Francisco, CA who asked me if I watched SV Delos, to which I replied, "sailing Blogs are a thing?"... It was the Story of S V Cells that hooked me but until then I never heard. of a go pro OR a Waterproof box to film under water....I became a binge watcher of past SV Delos episodes and gave Fridays a new meaning....even watched at Work when I should have been working. Love your Channel and your Story and the new Wall of Shanme/Fame Random"fFashback Segment.....keep it up........in the back ground I hear " that's what she said"
31:11 I would love ❤️ you guys to do that again. Perfect, idea.... love it
That was a nice stroll down memory lane.
Hey guys, great idea to go through the fame and shame bulkhead photos and then to leave a link to the related video. Quite of few with good ole Brady in them! We think that this is a good way to encourage your new watchers to learn about the rest of the amazing Delos story. We really also like the fact that in some ways you have restored or brought back some of the original music and flavor of the earlier vids that made you guys UA-cam Superstars! Really nice to have Taylor aboard so much, going from 2-3 people on passages sure makes a big difference. Best J&J SV Sueno
I am pretty sure you mean Jordan and not Taylor aboard.
Hey Delos crew, luv the episode and the wall of Fame and Shame game! Because we never want to forget where we came from.
I LOVE that chipilín made an appearance. On the weekends where I live in Chiapas, lots of houses have a red lightbulb on outside their door to note that they have tamales for sale.
Congratulations you have been shortlisted among the lucky winners 🎉text me right away to claim your price🎁🎁
Hi there from New Zealand. I saw that you bought some bearings from BMG in SA. I worked for them for many years. Thanks for the video, it's always a treat to watch. Safe sailing. 👍
So glad and happy that you, Brian are still having a great time on the open seas!
Thanks!
Mexican in the later years of his life. Love you guys and adore Sierra. Maybe in my next life I will do what you have done🧔😶🌫🤩😍
The nug is just about the cutest thing ever. I hope she keeps her cuteness as she grows. She's so adorable. 💜
The wall of Fame/Shame is a great section. Please keep it.
Good winds.
Love this! So many stories on that wall. Great to hear some background. Keep adding to the wall and keep telling the stories.
I loved the random picture pick. I've been watching (almost) from the beginning. How things change.
I "came on board" the Delos Tribe when I was seeking St. Helena/Ascension content on UA-cam and I binged that day and I have never been the same since! ;)
I think Poseidon cursed them a life at sea . And now it rubs off on us
@@briandale8386 I am more than happy to take on some of the burden! ;)
you and ur brother must have a real special bond after all those adventures together from the start. I have a good bond with my brother and we always saying lines from narchoo when seen u guys doing it made us laugh
I loved the quick tour of the Bosun's stores.
Love the new segment. The stories the pictures tell would all be great.
Not only is the content here fabulous, interesting, and fun, it is well narrated by Brian to explain history or just what is going on. The personalities on the boat are all fun. I agree that Brian really knows it all from mechanical, electrical, to seamanship. Its great to see Sierra (Nugget) grow up before our eyes. The wall of fame/shame segment is great so we get to hear about the fun of places you've been to and the people that have crossed your path. I can't wait to see how you handle when the flying finger of fate lands on a truly naughty one. Ha!!
When your friend told Sierra you were sailing for a few days and she went Ooooh, that made my day. 🤓
Wall of shame great.. love the repair.. envy all the spare parts!
LOVE THE WALL OF SHAME PART!!!!
Memories are great! Love the wall!
Yes, keep the wall thing up! Thanks
Easily a Top 20 episode in the category of narration. Boat life, navigation, repairs, with humor and nostalgia for the win. With apologies to Future Sierra, I laughed out loud at her crashing at the helm. Keep bouncing, kid! Great episode. Thanks!
When i rebuild these pumps and reseal outboard gearboxes. I usually replace the mild steel spring with a hightemp o-ring. Stops the seal failing from lose of tension. Just thought you might like the knowledge 🤙
Brian… you are a handy guy! 13 years at sea will do that though! You guys are amazing. I have roughly 100k miles on the ocean courtesy of the Navy and really love the tattoo! The new segment is super cool.. love hearing stories about the pics!
😁 Good to have you on Friday!
Brilllllliant Delos - we passed the test- ha - thanks for sharing 👍
The new segment is great! And keep the Sierra bike ending forever..I laugh every time 😅
Love the wall of shame game. Miss Jordan ❤️
Brian is one brilliant guy
Perfect segment.
I don’t want to take any thing away from your mechanical abilities because you’re doing a great job. One thing I would suggest is to get a piece of brass or maybe a brass hammer to beat on the steel shaft you are trying to replace bearings on. Because brass is softer and will not damage what you’re bidding on. I love your videos and I’ve watched every one
To the Delos. Just wanted to let you know me and the wife have been watching your channel since you were drinking kava. Ohh yes, I remember very well the episode with the "roaring '40s as well. Always great videos and thank you so much. 60107 USA says hi.
Spares, spares, spares. Amazing! "Spares Rule" 😉👍
Cant wait for the next one⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵
wall of fame shame is awesome please do more .. I've gone back and watched from the start but its cool to hear the behind staries
Brian nice job fixing that pump leakage and the fridge
Guys what an awesome episode... just love your editing. And I adore that clip of the nugget on her bike ... woohoo!
That WOOHOO clip at the end makes me laugh every time. Thanks for sharing.
More stories behind the pictures. Nice refresher of your journey.
I love the new photo segment!! Thanks for sharing.
Great vid as always. In the words of Nugget , woo goo. Yes, keep the pick a photo segment and keep the dirty comment segment too. Love ya Jenn
Cute game, cause you get to say,, I remember that, great video, hope you are all safe, poor Florida got pounded with hurricane Ian, glad that's over, safe travels my friends, :and have a great time 👍🙏❤️😎🐬🌊🇺🇲til next time, bye
