I'll come to this Channel when I get my first data analytics job and thank you. Waiting for that day
Looking forward to your return!
same here
@@LukeBarousse I'll love you to mentor me,, I'm Emmanuel from Nigeria, a self learning Data analyst
Good luck. You got this!
@@emedit8036 my name sake , I'm in the learning process too .
Just started my google data analytics course and your channel is one of the best I have come across.
I come from accounting background but I have been in sales development more in my working years. Data analytics will come in handy for me in my next chapter. Thank you for this content
Thank you!!
Can you explain how data analytics would help in sales development?
Hey We have the same background wow! I have a background in accounting alongside some coding knowledge
@@designj1451 the future is bright. Let’s do this
I finished the Google Data Analytics Cert last week. Took me 7 days.
What would be nice is one of you guys that promote data analysis is to actually do a project from start to finish using all the tools that you you recommend every one to learn in your road map, so we could see how everything works with each other and why they are needed. Because when you start to learn each step you don't really know how it all comes together.... I'm sure you would also boost your watch time and follow, like and share basically boosting your channel.
this right here
I hope this comment gets well noticed, Its only in application when a person really comprehends their learning
They would be subjecting themselves to criticism that would undermine their credibility. i.e. not gonna happen
Loved this! Having someone breakdown and do deep dives on the newest technologies really helps with picking what to learn first.
Data Science typically offers higher salaries and broader opportunities compared to Data Analyst roles. With advanced skills in machine learning and big data, Data Scientists are in greater demand, leading to lucrative salaries and diverse career paths.
thanks luke. I love how you talk about AI unlike most other UA-camrs. They mostly say "AI won't replace us, just trust me bro", while you actually give the data to support your claim.
I have been studying on my own to become a data analyst (already applying to job listings) but this video freaks me out a bit tbh. These AI tools are scary. I know they should be treated as tools but still. I hope it is still worth learning.
Anyway, thank you very much, Luke! And best of luck to everyone pursuing this path.
Okay, you managed to calm me down at the end😅
Thanks again, Luke!
AI will make smart people smarter. Don’t give up on your pursuit just include AI in it cause it’s here to stay
may i ask you that how did you study by urself, what are those method? thanks
Great video! As a data analyst, I find myself using all of these programs/languages, except for Tableau.
Bro, I love how you explained this and did the hard work.❤
Facts , sure it is, love the depths of the subjects discussed
I am trying to get into Data Analytics, feeling a bit overwhelmed and anxious at the same time. I hope I can have a different feeling in a month time as I go deeper
how did it go? i wanna start too
How are you feeling now? Did you settle? How did it go? :-)
Great video, Luke! Speaking from my own experience, those are precisely the tools I utilize in my role as a data analyst/BI developer. Initially, I underestimated the importance of SQL 😬 Interestingly, I don't use Python extensively for data analysis, as most of my calculations are performed in Excel. However, I frequently use Python for building internal APIs, crafting custom GUIs, and scraping Excel files 😅. I'm always blown away by the versatility of Python. It doesn't matter what you want to do; most likely, there's a Python library for it 😅
Gotta love the open-source community for that; so crazy how so much is free to use with PYthon and the capabilities it has. Thanks for sharing this perspective Sven! 🙌
I do not understand why are people talking so positively about this video, I do not think that the vast majority of the viewers are thinking about seriously kickstarting their DA career. The creator Luke spent 13min talking mostly about some potential AI to use, most of which was either canceled, or you need to pay a large sum (which the creator Luke doesn't recommend), or the creator Luke is not even sure in the first place which one to pick. He just talks about sticking with his channel to find out which one he likes. Totally useless information without any real plan. Just Luke talking extensively about his knowledge to establish himself as a pro. This is fine, but if the video is titled "How I'd Learn to be a Data Analyst in 2024" then give me real guidance. This video should be titled "Interesting surveys about in-demand DA skills and how to potentially improve them". 100% misleading title
You're 100% right... About the title. The video itself is not bad, but there's no guidance is just basically him giving some news and updates about DA tools.
Yeah this video isn’t good
Yeah, I'll just stick learning sql, tableau (because it's more eye catching) and python later. I have already mastered enough excel while working so that's one check in my skill box
Agreed
Tell us you're unhappy with your life without telling us you're unhappy with your life
I love Perplexity. I worked as an AI chatbot trainer & they are not ready to take over jobs. They are very much still in development.
This is awesome, I am in the middle of the google cert and am working on getting a data analyst position over the next few months, go Mr.Beast very cool you got to join his team.
Cant be thankful enough for all the great content. Thanks so much😊
Great video Luke Congratulations!! I also think that Salesforce owning Tableau has impacted the development of new features in the app and slowly but consistent Power BI is picking Up with Tableau.
Thanks for this updated data analyst roadmap, Luke. It's really helpful.
This gonna sound stupid but people say we have to dream big even if it’s crazy so here it goes… I would absolutely love to work with you one day, man! It would all come full circle
hey bro, its so crazy, im really in the exact moment in my life where im studying SQL,Pbi For my carrer and asking the same questions that you explained in the video! Got a new Subscriber
There have been many data breaches in recent years. The databases of banks, insurance companies, and shops are becoming publicly available. How can a data analyst protect himself? An analyst has access to and works with huge databases. He is likely to be among the first to be under suspicion. Please tell us about your experience Luke. And share some tips. Otherwise it seems like a very dangerous profession.
Your channel is incredible, thank you for all of your work.
My major is port management and logistics maritime, and I want to learn this cuz I think this skill is flexible in this advance digital era 😅
Yes I’ll be here to as I am a beginner in SQL for school
Let' me know. Is BI Analyst and Data Analyst the same?
Another great video Luke!
Thanks.
Keep up please
Its great that companies wants AI to support their employees. Opposite to mine, they made a company policy to NOT use any AI in working on a task or project. Now they're asking why I don't do any significant for past few months because I just only work on what they asked and deliver.
Very intuitive and always a pleasure to watch your technology related videos 😺
Thanks Luke for the great video, actually a couple of months ago I was searching for a roadmap to follow in order to become a data analyst, I was so confused about the reach youtube contents, but finally I find your channel and decided to follow your plan, and I never regret it.
After watching your video today I totally agree with you that every data analyst have to use AI assistants professionally, but I think beginners can't get benefits from it if they don't have the basics knowledge of the domain and don't know how to understand the code syntax, so even after all the AI revolution, learning the basics concepts in the traditional way is still needed, do you agree me with that? And what do you think?
Yep. Basics are still v much important
PLEASE what are the basics
This guy is a gem!
12:05 if every organization replaces data analysts with AI from their workforce they can still archive more, like reducing spends on salaries.
Hi Luke ... In one of your old videos you said you built a bot that logged into LinkedIn and scraped for data science jobs. I'm just curious how you'd manage to code a bot that could login to a social network and perform tasks like that. Was it hard? Probably not for you lol... Love your content Luke and just subscribed
It was def a learning experience. Took me some time but so many resources now adays with ChatGPT and the works that I think it can be done even easier
@@LukeBaroussedid you use python for that project?
Great video, helped out a ton! I use extraktAI to analyze multiple documents, so that saves me a lot of time and headaches 🙏
Love this skill overview, Luke! Super up to date and all super exciting! So many things I didn’t know about the tooling landscape. Btw, how can I learn to become a Generative AI specialist? 😀🧐
Ha! Maybe that's the next video I need to get on 😜
Luke, for my masters' program in Business Analytics and Econometrics, they are teaching me R instead of Python which is kind of disappointing but also understandable because our course includes a lot of advanced statistics. My question is that how easy is it to learn python after learning R?
I think once you get the fundamentals down of R, it's relatively easy to switch over to Python. Python has a lot more functionality in my opionon, so it will take a learning curve for some of the features it has that R doesn't. But overall doable
Speaking from 10 years experience with R, I love R, but Python simply allows you to do more, a lot more. The transition to using/learning Python was a mixed bag for me, but it never overwhelmed me. So give a it go, you won’t regret it.
Luke - R you sure?
I learned R after Python and it wasn't too bad. I think learning Python after R would be easier. I have some tutorials!!!
Thanks for the answers, everyone. Appreciate it!
I think Excel isn't higher because it's assumed people know Excel. It would be redundant to list it explicitly.
You're the best bro!
Awesome content as always!
As a data analyst, watching the end of this video has got me so high on hopium
Happy new years, Luke!
Happy new year!
Thank you, Luke
"Yo! Heading for the role Research Analyst, wish me luck, will ya?"
Keep Rocking Man, all the best insh'Allah
In the short-term, data analyst and data scientist jobs could grow more plentiful, but I expect junior data analyst jobs to start going away very soon. Most jobs in this entire profession could start going away within 10 years.
Great video, thanks Luke
I don't have any of these skills . I mean what should I learn first?? Excel??
12:06 I call Bull
Unless you can defend your job against AI, you will be replaced
Not sure about others, but he explained this really well, and also, new thing! Ai Coding Tool, like I have missed a lot since I "postpone" my analytics learning.
Tuning in religiously to this guy now on!
Self learning! Lets go :)
Great insight with this video. I had my concerns AI was going to kill this career. Your data analysis saved my hopes.
Would you be willing to do a video on how long it might take to build dashboards with examples? I'm wondering if the stress from my self-imposed time constraints is warranted.
Cheers ! Recently I started learn SQL :)
How's it going?
thank you so much for the video, I really appreciate your effort, but I feel overwhelmed by plethora of information, and the use of a lot of technical words, I would love a video where you target each skill separately and provide a source to learn it, even though I am set on becoming a data analyst, I don't think that I understood the majority of the video and the many nuances mentioned.
Much love
Great video, man!
Excellent content!
Awesome edition!
Thanks for sharing, Luke!
Very interesting summary
Hi Luke.. Thanks for the great content and guiding our ways.. I am currently working as a credit analyst but looking to switch to data analysis. Since these coursera courses are charged monthly , they are some available for 1 tome fee on udemy. Do you recommend doing those instead if they are equally good?
They have removed the 300 seat limit as of yesterday
Thank you so much!
Luke, does the google cert actually hold weight in the industry? it is obviously fairly affordable in terms of being able to go back and get educational skills, just curious how it holds up with someone whos background isnt comp sci, but job is driving towards data analysis
great question, I have a quite a few videos on my channel interviewing those that got the certificate; and I feel will answer this
It was very helpful.
Thanks for sharing
Hey Luke, question for you, I see that you're using a Mac; have you ever run into any road blocks/difficulties using a Mac and excel ? Just curious since I use Mac's as well and have started taking Data Analysis courses, but have notice that many people tend to use Windows since excel seems to have a bit more functionality on the windows platform compared to that of a Mac.
Haven't really run into any major issues with Excel
Luke have you try the functionality of "Cody" inside VS Code?
Hey Luke what computer do you recommend for data analysis?
Love the vid ❤, would you possible please mind adding the link for the KPMG survey to the description 🙏
advisory-marketing.us.kpmg.com/speed/genai2023.html
For some silly reason I thought _taking a Statistics class_ would be on the list, if not at the top.
If I recall your previous video in this format suggested learning R over python? How the tides turn
I'm working as a data-guy in security, I would probably get fired if I started using chat gpt for data related tasks, why is no one talking about the security issue with cloud and gpt? Why would any data professional with a real job advice someone to use gpt? I am speechless.
I actually talk about the security issues quite a lot in my videos and have some alternatives for this
Great video. Thanks for sharing this info.
I am a former HR Business Partner with an interest for Data Analytics and will start a new role as an HR Data Analyst.
I will probably take the People Analytics Certificate from AIHR to start with and then will go with the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate.
I was considering the Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Professional Certificate after taking the Google Certificate.
What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks so much.
Sorry i have a question : why dont you switch to data scientist? I understood that its better skills ai oriented and its better pay.
Please let me know if i m wrong. Thanks.
How did you make the transition to that career coming from the military? Im also about to get out and am interested in pursuing that path
Hey Luke, I have been creating data dashboards and small reports with an inhouse developed plarform for an decade. I know SQL basics and have created some Tableau reports too for time series analysis. I have also been programming over the years and currently learning Python. Doesn't that mean I'm quite close having the needed skills? I never had thought about that really, I'm in more like IT support work atm. So I pretty much now need to hone my skills a bit and prove muself to recruiters e.g. by making a portfolio?
I'm here because of Stephenovic😤
Your enthusiasm made me interested in data science i came from a different background can i get a job in this field without certification? I heard self taught programmers getting jobs without earning a degree i wonder if its the same for data analytics. Im going 36 this year just going back to school to get a degree for this just giving me nightmares.
HIi Luke. Do. you feel taking a SQL course through ZTM or coursera I'd overkill if I plan on doing the META or goolgle data analytics certificate? Thanks!
No I don’t think it’ll be overkill. The Google cert is just the basics. From there you’ll need to dive deeper
How did you install power bi on MacBook? I couldnt figure it out🫤
can i get a job without any degrre
If you had to redirect to another video to tell us how to learn, then why is the title of the video so?
How much time it to take to learn all these thing if someone from non tech background?
i wish more tech logos had animals in them.
We need some more love for the insects in logos!
The main take away is to incorporate AI into your work flow
Mistral AI is not free. One has to pay for a subscription and for keys as well.
it is so good❤
love that video, but in some point you are speaking very much about coding ect ...but data analyst don't need to code or at least he dosen't need to go further in coding , may be I am wrong
Is it wishful thinking to want a job posting that is willing to take someone currently changing careers and offer some on the job training?
Cash refunds: reimbursement process and guidelines
My issue is I dont know if data analytics would be suitable for me?
What about Shiny... Nice video
Great video! I guess you should do it for every month, for every year is too rare. So much happens in a week. Actually also think about "How I'd learn to be DA TODAY!!!" on a daily basis, this will be huge!!! ☣
Do data analyst have to do a lot of formal presentantions?
Don't learn R ever ! (unless you are statistician) they ask about R in hope that if you know R then you can move to Python...
Can this be done in Libreoffice Calc?
Matlab was plotting excel matrixs before anyone. To bad matlab is so expensive
2:48 MOOD
I honestly do not understand a lot of what you just said. I understand what the programs are but this is full of jargon. I think you would be helpful if you watered it down because...wtf is dax functionality?
But can you even trust what HBS says?
Or any corporate figurehead for that matter.
People need to run AI (for the moment), but soon enough, the cost involved will see AI driving AI, or at least many less humans running AI.
One of the greatest dudes I know came out of that school 😘
What about google data studio (looker)? Is it worse than power bi or tableau?
Looker studio fine for students and very small mom & pop businesses. It is free. Not good for mid-size nor large business.
Google offers a larger version (regular Looker), but it costs more than Power BI and Tableau. $10 for the base version of Power BI per user per month, $20 for the enterprise version of Power BI, $42 for the base version of Tableau, and $60 for the base version of regular Looker.
Misleading title
interesting video
Can someone summarize the video? I did not understand much

Hi luke i am graduate from BMS degree in finance and i have switch my interest to data analyst and taken up and offline course of data science and analyst with AI from institution name IT Vedant and i have almost finished my course but they had only teach us the basic of everything not an industry level knowledge so i want to have an one to one session with you so that i can get answers to my never ending question about it so plzz if you read my comment plzz reply back and may be in future i would like to take on your data course
