This is so wild Luke....you basically shared my personal learning roadmap. Started my DA journey in March 2021. Started with Google DA cert, then moved on to UC-Davis SQL Training, then the UC-Davis Tableau specialization. Already had previous working knowledge of Excel. I was able to use these courses to increase my pay by over 50% by quitting teaching and becoming a data analyst. Thank you for the recommendations on what are the best Python courses though, that is my next target. Suppose I can benefit from the Excel course too. Thank you for sharing these. Crazy to see how my own personal journey matched this video. Wish I had this video when I started, I had to compare and contrast on these courses on my own.
Heck yeah! This is so awesome to hear about the success in utilizing these courses for your jobs and getting a raise! It seems like you're on a great track already, so keep up the hard work my dude!!
Hey congrats 🎊
I also completed the Google DA cert. I would like to know if you felt the need to brush up R skills and picked any courses to learn. Also what are your thoughts about moving to Python ? With the limited R skills learned in the Google course. I am in a dilemma to continue with R or move to Python. 😅
Congrats!! I'm also looking to change careers and have completed the Google DA course. I'm currently completing some portfolio projects. What was the biggest factor in gaining a foot in the door/ interviews? Was it having a more skills based CV, networking etc and which roles did you aim for? Thanks.
Congratulations 🎉 I’m a teacher who is completing the certification in order to switch careers.
@@vivekjoshi3769 Hello Vivek, I liked the intro to R in this Google course, but find Python more in demand between job listings, and ultimately some of the doors it can unlock in the tech space in general, even outside of Data Analytics. I will be concentrating my efforts on Python for now, and setting R aside for the time being.
This feels like a video I should bookmark for after I complete the Google Data Analytics Certification. I'm seeing an incredible amount of value here.
I thought the same!
Thanks so much for this Dylan and Carlos!
how's the cert going?
Same here! I'm in the Google cert now, have bookmarked all of these courses and will likely follow this path! Coursera is great, and I trust Luke with his recommendations here.
Have u completed your DA course ?
I’ve always found myself not applying because I just don’t feel ready but lately I’ve come to the realization that it’s nearly impossible to learn everything without experience. Appreciate the videos a lot!
The hardest part is starting. Use courses to build your portfolio and THAT will be your experience to showcase!
Please which best tutor can one advice for a beginner
Everything starts with Excel! But after that SQL, R, Tableau and everything else you referenced in this video. Thanks for putting this list together. There were a lot of great courses here.
It does all starts with my arch nemesis!! 🤣 Thanks for this perspective Ben!
You're awesome Luke! thank you for putting in the time and energy to help others to have success in the field!
I was doubting where to start to become a data analyst and thanks to your videos now I know and I’m going to start with the Google certificate. Thanks a lot!!!
Thanks for this video! I feel like this is so much better than taking a bootcamp which was what I initially was going to do but now this has inspired me to take matters into my own hands. Great video! :)
I’m currently doing the DA course on coursera and so far it’s pretty intermediate and perfect for me to understand. I work at a District for an insurance company and I already pull data and organize & clean reports but a lot of the professional terms that data analyst use are new to me. So I’m excited to hopefully switch careers in the future as a DA!
This is awesome to hear, keep up the work with the studies!
Thank you so much luke, this video is perfect timing and has given me clarity on what direction to take..But Please can you make a video on how to build a portfolio as a data analyst.
Yeah!! but I also have this video on building an online website for your portfolio:
ua-cam.com/video/z5mAumgV2rA/v-deo.html
This video is super helpful, considering I just finished the Google certification. I feel I just scratched the surface of the different areas of data analysis while not really feeling like an expert in any. Definitely will enroll in these to get a deeper understanding. Thanks for the help, just got another subscriber!
Glad it was helpful, and thanks for subscribing Spence! I def think you are on a good start with the Google Certification, so keep up the great work, you're on a great track!
heyy, how have u been doing in these couple of months?
I truly appreciate you, I'm from the Caribbean and was thinking to start an MSC in DS, but now I'm going to spend some time and enroll in a few of these certificates. I already benefitted from your coursera plus bundle option. Thank you again and keep making brilliant content.
Heck yeah!! So awesome to hear this! I think these courses are a great start and will even be good prep if you decide to go get the MSC. Good luck in your data science journey!
Wanted to say thank you, not just for this video but everything else for learning about the field. I’m currently a blue collar physical work and commute type of worker and I really want to make the move this year into the data analyst world. I’m almost done with the google cert which you helped me decide and was literally wondering ok what now and here you go again helping me figure out what to focus on and hopefully this year I can be in the data field. So again thank you and happy holidays happy new year
Heck yeah, This was so motivating to hear of your journey into data analytics!! 🙌🏼 The Google Certificate is such a good start and so I think you are on a great route! I have a video coming out tomorrow expanding more on this as well, so I hope this helps as well.
Keep up the hard work with your studies! 🤙🏼
@@LukeBarousse thanks Luke you’re really doing gods work here I just saw your video post I’m going to get to it tomorrow and study as well💖
University of Michigan also has a specialization called Applied Data Science with Python. I was already familiar with other programming languages and found being introduced to Python through this quite manageable, while the topic as a whole was perfectly suited to my needs. I think it's a good option for people who may be new to Python, but not to programming in general.
I also did Duke University's Statistics with R, which was excellent.
Thank you mate.Just landed here today contemplating where to start guess i found how.cheers
Great roadmap, Thanks for sharing Luke
Excellent video. The teaching style is clear and concise.
Thanks so much!!! I am trying to finish course 6 of GGDA course and wonder what’s next! You suggested all the stuffs I may need! Thanks so much!
Heck yeah, good luck with finishing up the certificate!!
I enjoyed your watching your videos for the first time. I am currently enrolled in Maven Analytics for Analytics and Business Intelligence training.
This is a great video. I’m currently trying to find a new career path and believe data analytics is the route I’m looking into most. I have no coding or technical experience so this is the perfect video on where to start and go once the google certificate is complete. Thanks for the video!
Glad it was helpful, Phil! Keep up the studies!
This is perfect! Thank you so much 🙏. Very clear road map that should keep me busy for a while.
Aw thank you as well!
A great video over here. Thanks luke your the best ❤
Awesome video, luke.
Yes, I find the Coursera platform is the best to learn too. I'll add a few of them to my saved list to enroll later to continue my Data Science track. I finished the Python for Everybody Specialization already. Now I'm doing another python course to solidify my python skills because I need to take a Machine Learning specialization. I'm almost done with PostgreSQL Specialization. I'll check the Exel and Tableau next. I'm planning to enroll in a Master's Degree Program in Data Science later on, but I need an entry-level Data Science job first to cover the cost.
I think you have a great plan for your learnings. Keep up the hard work and studies and don’t neglect that portfolio. It will pay off!
Hi, what python courses do you recommend after taking py4e? I'm at the capstone stage now, and I feel like I need to more hands-on practice for the python skill. Looking forward to your reply. Appreciate.
@@garywu2239 Python 3 Programming Specialization is a good one.
This was great, thanks Luke!
thank you for sharing this!!, among many information I didn't know what select. 🙏🏼
No problem at all Daniel!
This video was SUPER helpful for me. Thanks, Luke! I'm transitioning careers into Data Analytics and needed a course to strengthen my SQL skills. I'm auditing the SQL for Data Scientists right now. I was not able to find the audit option for the Google Analytics course, btw. Love your videos!!
I'm doing the same thing. I'm doing career transition from Geophysicist to Data Analyst.
super helpful and well structured video. Thank you so much for the guidence for helping me getting started in this career
So glad it was helpful, Harry!
Your video is really very informative. Thank u.
Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing this, will definitely going to start with google data analytics course...........👍
Thx so much for this video! Just started the Data analytics course a few weeks ago and This video has me even more excited!
Heck yeah! Glad this helped motivate!
Much needed video Luke! Loved the recommendations!
Aww thanks for this Kunal!
Hello Luke, this is my first time watching your videos. Thank you for providing valuable information with the time stamps and links.
Aw heck yeah!! 🙌🏼 Not a problem at all! Thanks for tuning in!
Glad to see this cause I'm already halfway through the Google course and already completed the sql for data science course. So it's good to know that I am on the right track.
heck yeah you are on the right track, keep up the good work!
Thanks for this! I was going to ask for this list!
Heck yeah! Delivered right in time!
Hey, Luke. I want to thank you first for creating this video(actually, all of your videos!). This actually inspired me to pursue a career in data analytics and I am currently at Course 7 in the Google Data Analytics Certificate. I'm planning to take the SQL courses you recommended. I just want to know if I have to install some software on my computer and get the full version of it to follow along the SQL courses? Also, any recommended course in Coursera about Tableu? I feel there's more to Tableu than what was taught in Google DA course.... Thanks in advance!
Thank you so much for this video. I am currently on course 3 with Google, really enjoying it
Heck yeah, keep up the hard work!
i already have a roadmap of learning DS, but i integrated this. Thanks Luke. you always got me. 🤙🏼
Heck yeah! Glad I could still help out with this, Daryl!
You inspire me to start lern data anlist
What a great road map! I'm a bit stuck - which area of Data Science I want to dive into. But after watching your videos, it seems like I'll be trying my best to be a Data Analyst.
Heck yeah! So glad this road map could help!! Keep up the hard work!
I think I need to get one of your flannels to be at least half as proficient as you are as a DA. Kudos man! I'm grinding to become a DA because of your channel. Just finished with Excel & postgreSQL. I'm moving towards power BI now :)
Heck yeah, keep up the grind!
This is the most informative video I've ever seen in my entire life... ❤️ Loved it.
Thank you so much for these kind words!! So glad you got value out of it!
Great video thank you much!
I have to say, this is a really useful video. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this!!
I got what I was looking for thanks
Doing god’s work Luke, happy holidays love your vids
Happy Holidays Michael! Thank you!!
Thanks so much
This is quite helpful
Great recommendations, thanks Luke! I must say the Python course is really great !!
ThaNks for sharing this Thu!!!!
I started in Jan 2022 and I finished the Google data analytics course in abt 12 days I really enjoyed the sql and R part of the course, but they're just basics which is good for a beginner like me but I'm definitely continuing with your specialization courses. Thanks alot man
Ronald you cruised through that certificate; you were putting in some work, congrats for this! Good luck with the other courses 🙌🏼
How many hours a day were you one it? That´s amazing!
Did you start with some experience or as a complete newbie?
I have a degree in math and couldn't find a good job I liked, so now I'm thinking about Data Analytics. These course suggestions are very helpful and I'm going to seriously look into them. Thank you.
Amazing, thanks a lot 😊
Great overview of courses, this show i am on the right track of learning skills.
Heck yeah, keep up the studies!
This is great! I started with some free tools and exercises to see whether I like it (Mimo, excelpracticeonline, SQL murder mystery are all great for that) but as you mentioned, it tends to get repetitive.
So, interactive learning with a 7 day free trial does sound pretty good 😊.
Thank you for your 'excelpracticeonline' remark. I needed a second opinion... LOL Thank you!
You are great man. I am from colombian and looking your video I feel hope to do something with my Profesional road.
Thank you for your time and support
No problem Nezar!!
I was thinking what should I take, and then this came along. Thanks Luke!! John Paul here. Just switched my profile in youtube.
Oh heck yeah, glad to have you back John Paul!! Thanks for warching
That’s a pretty hefty list of courses! I don’t think we’ve met Editor Luke before.
Thanks @Dave!!! Miss you! 😘
Oh thanks a lord, for making this video. I suffered from brainstorm in finding of such helpful cources
What skill are you currently learning?!?
Hi Luke, thanks for such clear and practical videos. I am a nurse in Germany trying to transition to Data Analytics. Your videos has helped me in my Journey so far💙
Sir Currently I am Data Analyst Intern at a Start-Up and enhancing my Tableau skills. I feel that you and Ken Jee sir helped me to get my first internship through their videos , it gave me clear guidance and mentorship that was needed.
Hi Luke. I am currently studying IBM data analytics course. As you mentioned Google Data analytics course is great but for my case i started with python so i try to focus only on python. Therefore, i avoid R courses intentionally. )))) By the way i receive my courses via financial aid. For that BIG THANKS TO COURSERA. Lastly, i want to become a data engineer since it involves both more programming and cloud which i like both. Moreover, i have recently came across that the number of data engineering vacancies are 5 times higher than data science. Take care of yourself.
Hi Luke, I'm currently pursuing the data scientist course by IBM. It's not the best course that I've done as it makes the audience engage passively but I think for a beginner its alright. Please tell me other courses in line with this (Machine Learning and AI).
@@kalpitraj6082 Let me see what I can do with this!
This video was really well-timed and very helpful! Thank you! I was just looking up which courses to take after I finish the Google Data analytics certificate since it seemed like a jack of all trades, masters of none type. I'm in the middle of course 4 at the moment. What are your thoughts on Udemy courses regarding the necessary skills? I was thinking of taking advantage of a sale and learning SQL alongside the Google certification. Thanks again! :)
I’d focus on the Google certificate and then Switch over. I think Udemy is also a good option but I’m not as familiar with taking courses on this platform so I don’t have any recommendations currently.
Wow! This is really useful!
Thank you :')
I also have to improve my english to become a data analyst 😅
Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
No problem at all. Glad you found it useful!
Awesome, its 2024 and I will still take the courses that you recommend. Thank you.
Would you be able to make a video discussing the prospects and trends of remote work for data analysts/scientists?
Let me see what I can do about this. I think there is a lot of interest from those out there on remote work opportunities.
Thank you for this. I lost my way a little bit in weeks 3 & 4 of the Google Data Analytics cert, as the content on BigQuery in the certificate is out of date, which is strange for Google. Participating in a stand alone SQL course is a good idea, provided it is up to date. It is a problem finding courses online that are up to date. ☹
I just ended my Google Data Analyst here in Brazil, thanks to you!
This is awesome to hear Anderson!! Keep it up!
Great video, Luke! Wanted to get your feedback on the Tableau Certified Data Analyst Exam Readiness. It is still in Beta stages, but I have already completed the first 2 Units and have been able to apply a lot of good stuff for my actual job. It is pricier ($750) than the Coursera option, but may be a good option for anyone looking to do a deep dive in Tableau. Keep up the great content!
Yeah this looks like a good option for those that want to spend more time on the studies and have dedicated instructors. I think go for it if that's what your looking for
Exactly what I needed!!
Awesome to hear this!
Just completed a Google project management course and also really wanted to learn Data analyst, so I'm now taking that Google course as well. I'll look into SQL, and Excel once I complete the course. I know both PM and Data are like way different but I think getting certified in both would help me decide what I like. I wish i could incorporate the two and get experience with both at the same time
I agree with this approach; good luck with the learnings Tiera!
Yoo i just finished project management too. And im planning to study data analytics as well from google!.. I believe that those two skills can be used to develop businesses! Although i was a waiter on a cruise ship before, it would take me a longer time to learn all of these but im excited to change careers!
Brilliant vid
Wow! This is very helpful. Thanks a lot! :)
Glad this was helpful, Randel!
Hi Luke, thank you for the awesome video. What is the best course for python for data analysis? What do you recommend?
Great list thank-you
Thank you!!
This guy really told us everything we have to do...respect (and subscribed) :)
Aw thanks for this Chastity!!
@@LukeBarousse Yw! I actually write down your advice on my laptop's Notes app. I've been following the plan you recommended. I'm currently on course 4 of 8 of the Google Data Analytics class! I hope all is well on your end
@@chastityvalentin8698 That's awesome to hear that you are almost half way done with the class!! Keep up the hard work Chastity! 🙌🏼
@@LukeBarousse ty!!!
Nice advices but if you could do some simple guide start or tutorial in sql or python would be awesome
Thank you Luke, this video is very usefull.
Glad it was helpful, Alex!
Hi Luke! Thank you for all your great content. I am about to start a Sales position with an Artificial Intelligence startup. I'd like to learn more about the domain of Data Analytics so I can speak to my customers more intelligently. Do you think the Google Data Analytics Certificate would be worth my time? Or, would it be enough to just stay up to date on all your videos?
For reference, my degrees are in Engineering and I've spent the last 3.5 years in sales with an Internet of Things startup.
Tucker, thank you for your service! And yes, if you are interested in exploring the different tools of data analytics and what those in data analytics do, then yes I think this would be a good route.
Alternatively, if you already familiar with these tools/field, then maybe diving into a learning plan for a specific tool may be just for you!
Keep up the hard work, data nerd!
Super Awesome Luke, Damn!
Just starting my journey, I am doing the IBM course for data analytics, any thoughts on that ? Finding SQL fun as a side project while doing the IBM course .
Next up excel or Python.
Thank you for sharing this video. Xx
Great job dude 👌😎 I hope you explain the Masters track in Coursera How it works
got a master's in mathematics. worked with sas for 2 years. Now starting as a sql dude. My position is called data scientist but that word could mean anything.
Thank you
So many courses, so little time. It’s a new year for a new start!
New Year... New Dave!!
Awesome advice;
You did great-job *analyzing* the 'Top Courses to Become a Data Analyst' & I request annual follow-updates every year.
Yeaps, you're quite the data-analyst alright ;)
This may be a common reoccurrence!! :)
Video seemed like one long coursera ad.
SQL, Python lucky I was using Excel for awhile so I can pretty much pick it up quick. I need to figure out which visualization tool either power bi or Tableau
On Week 5 of Google Data Analytics Prof Cert after a week. Based on your recs. Thank you so much. I’m also following your recs on follow up certification.
Heck yeah! Glad to hear this Kathryn!

great video. thanks Luke.
Aww thank you!!
Man, you should try out as a lecturer, you are lit! Thanks for the overview, really helpful. Can you advise on what one would need to be a great digital marketer? Like what kind of programs should I focus on?
Aw thanks for this Fidel! I've actually had quite a few people ask me to share content on digital marketing; but I haven't done much of it myself. I'd have to research this more, so let me see! Thanks for the idea!
Great video.. with my advanced excel and sql skill…. all the entey level positions posted ask for 2-3 years experience….. how can someone going to step in the market with no experience at all…..
Thank you very much!
No probs!!
that was really helpful!
Thank you, Shubhankar!!
Another GREAT informative video brother Thanks 🙏
Thanks Canedo!!
Hi Luke ... Also make a video for a right road map to become a data engineer
Let me see what I can do on that! Have you checked out The Seattle Data Guy? He's got great content on this!
Thank you, helpful content as always! I am currently taking the Google Certificate and want to build projects as I go. Given that Excel seems to be the top skill, how do you showcase it in a portfolio?
This is a great question. I’d get creative with this one since it’s hard to showcase excel in a web browser. Personally I’ve seen people use screenshots of their excel work to then go through with a storyline to share what they worked out. This makes it easier for recruiters to see your work and experience while also keeping it engaging.
@@LukeBarousse Good point, I am looking forward to trying that out. Thank you!
How are you liking the course?
Would you ever do a comparison of Coursera and edX courses on data analytics?
Hi Luke, about Excel. How do you think the two specializations by Macquarie University compare with each other: Excel Skills for Data Analytics and Visualization Specialization versus Excel Skills for Business Specialization? It seems the former would be more appropriate for data analyst as it introduces Power Query. What do you think? Thanks a lot!
Thank you!!
Aw thanks, Dor
Hi, can you give a similar roadmap for becoming Bioinformatician as well?
Whats your next step in Data Luke? Data scientist-ism? What is your goal towards it, on whatver that you are working on now? Particular skills if there are any, besides language?
I could make a whole video on this question! My goal in general is to transition more to data engineering as this is where my passion is. I’ve tried going the ML Route but it didn’t align with my interests.
Thanks for asking this! May make a video on this!
@@LukeBarousse Oh please, this will help so much!!! But no pressure, im baby stepping the journey too.
