    Thank you for putting up with me. The bike is together. Everything is great.. well sort of. The issue was the two parts that go into the drum cage, the little pizza cutters. One that should have been on first, underneath, wasn't. Such a little thing caused a world of trouble. The bike, of course, wont start. However the gears and clutch and cylinder, compression, kick etc are perfect.

    Nice video, I didn't think the crank was pressed into the case. Good thing I found this.

      It just needs a little persuasion getting in there, it makes it most of the way if you throw it in the freezer and heat up the bearing.

    I always hated to do anything beyond a 2stroke top end. I would always forget where stuff came from and get confused. If I were doing it now I would be taking tons of photographs or videos with a smartphone. You must either be a trained mechanic or have a good memory and lots of patience with mechanical things. I cannot wait to see your video of putting it all back together and it running again.

    • @GarageAddiction
      @GarageAddiction  3 роки тому

      Haha definitely not trained, I use parts fiches and video if I get to a point where I forget. I need to start slapping it back together before I forget where everything goes haha

    Next time you split a case ! Tap the trans output shaft as you split the cases. You just put that system under a lot of unnecessary stress. Other than that good video.

    I am at this point with my sons 65 right now. I’m not quite sure how to press the crank back in properly. Looking forward to the rebuild

    • @GarageAddiction
      @GarageAddiction  3 роки тому +1

      Nice! The crank is pretty easy with a tusk crank puller after being in the freezer for a while. I was hoping I'd have it done by now but got slammed at work. Hopefully out in the next week or so.

    After watching this and noticing how many tools i need to buy, i might just pay to have a pro rebuild it lol. Great detailed video though 👌

    Can you drop a link on your stand that you use to hold up the engine?

      I've seen it go a little cheaper occasionally on Dennis Kirk. I threw a couple bolts into the legs so they don't fall off. Makes it way easier to spin the whole stand 180.

    Great video!!!..just wondering if you know for sure-for all intents and purposes are the kx65 and kx60 engines basically the same?

    • @GarageAddiction
      @GarageAddiction  2 роки тому +1

      There are a lot of different parts between the two. From an assembly standpoint they're not that different but not much transfers between the two.

    Is it possible to remove the crank without having to take out the clutch and gears?

    • @GarageAddiction
      @GarageAddiction  Рік тому +1

      You have to pull the clutch. You can try to leave the transmission in but it'll most likely fall out when splitting the cases.

      I made a few mods to it. I added thick felt pads to the tray to keep it in place and stop it rattling and I also threw a bolt on one leg to remove some of the play. Pretty happy with it for the price though.

      Most two strokes are generally pretty similar, I can’t recall if the ktm has a power valve but that would probably be the one thing significantly different
