2003 kx100 was my first dirtbike I got when I was 13. I got it with locked up engine in boxes for putting a transmission into a friend's Camaro. I put a wiseco crank into it, got it all together, and beat that thing for years with zero maintenance as a dumb kid. After I got rid of it I missed it so bad that I bought another 2013 kx100 "preferred body style" that now sits among my 250 2t collection. I Love these little bikes!
2007 kx100 was my first dirtbike i got when i was 13. I got it locked up with no compression in boxes. I put a new cylinder, head, and bottom end kit into it and got it all together. I’m planning to beat that thing with zero maintenance and then sell it and get anew kx100 when i miss it in a few years.
i recently put my bottem end back together and the transmission is very stiff and will not spin freely. but it will spin wil pliers. i have checked everything and cannot find the issue as i have split it 3 times already. any thoughts?
What part number is the advancer gear and the actuating arm? What is their purpose? Do I absolutely need them? I don’t have those parts. Someone got into this engine before me and didn’t put it back together properly.
Are they out already? If they are smooth and in good condition you can probably re-use them. I believe we used OE bearings there and the kit doesn't come with them. Get me the part number for your bike and I'll verify. -Charles
That's how they get ya. You should have bought factory OEM parts to begin with. Sit down at the parts desk and get to know the guy that works on these bikes and you will be much better off. My guess is that this "kit" is a bunch of chinesium pot metal and rubber that won't fit or last in the first place.
It's all similar. Give this video a watch as well: ua-cam.com/video/dmJK3enfOsU/v-deo.html Then just use your service manual for it and you should be good to go! -Charles
@@jackscott5144 My friend has this 2016 KX100 he bought for about $650 he needs the crankshaft, bearings, seals & gaskets replaced, do you think it would be worth it? He's planning on riding it only for a little then wants to sell for profit.
$2000 worth of work for a bike that isn't worth $500 😂 At least clean it up a bit with all the work you put into it. Vapor blasting is cheap. Might as well flow and trench the cases while your down there too. Get your money's worth 😂
You definitely don’t know shit about bikes let alone business, I only spent about $450 full rebuild for my kx100 sold for $3200 and $300 for 85 sold for $2400

I’m currently building my first bike. It’s an 2003 kx85

Tourque bolt to 78 inch pounds "uses t hanlde" 😂 but this video has helped so much part 1-4 thank you rocky mountain
Glad the video helped out! Thanks for watching.
Thanks so much for putting this together. It was extremely helpful, couldn't have done the rebuild without it!
Awesome! Glad it helped!
I'm looking into maybe getting the KX100 I like the two strokes they're a lot of fun
These how to videos are excellent, great job and Thank You RMATV!
No gasket for split cases?
Brilliant. Thank you!!
Do you have any advice on finding parts for older bikes? I have an 87 kx80 and I need a top end for it, same for an 87 kdx80
Quite well detail and explanatory video ! Thanks for sharing.
Super helpful thanks for the vid

I usually put the crank in the freezer so I have plenty of time
As do most people that actually know what they are doing. 😂
Did you see how he was afraid of the torch when he was using it?

Yea me to
Just picked up a 2014 kx85 the year thwy got 20% power !
Hi I just wondering it’s rubber grommet breathe hose
Is the kickstart shaft and kickstart gear one unit or is it presssed together

Yes, I think you need those. They operate the power valve. The bike might run and ride without it, but it WON’T reach its full power.
Does the kx85 2010 engine look the same??
My wrench rabbit rebuild kit is missing the 2 small bearings shown at 4:59. Is there another bearing kit I am missing?

Is some of this applicable to the kx125’s? I got a 96’ kx125 I’m trying to rebuild?

@@rmatvmc thanks Charles!
how centered does the crank have to be after you get it in the cases no binding when turning the crank ?
That is correct. The crank should be able to spin freely.
Are u not supposed to use a gasket when putting cases together or some gasket maker?
Yes, you are supposed to. 10:07 We use Permatex gasket maker.
Which bearings are the ones from 4:57-5:01? I can’t find them in my kit
The manual says to put waterpump seal opitisite way round to the way you done it
Are you sure you are reading the right manual because the manual i have said to do just as he did with the hard side facing the bearing
14:19 i can keep turning in the second and third gear at the other gears it locks up should this be alright? Cause it’s not shown in the video…
what ever you do, make sure that shift shaft is in all the way.... i thought mine was and when i went to torque the cover i cracked the case.
No case half gasket or liquid gasket? I have a 2000 KX-100 Thanks
I was wondering the same thing?

@@Chozenfew73 Thanks.
Why the star doesnt move in my motor when trying to rotate?
Can you post a time stamp of which "star" you're talking about?
Would this same rebuild process apply to a yz85? Sorry im just gettint into bikes
Pretty much the same for all 2 strokes buddy

They are replacing like everything to show people how, and cuz it costs them pretty much nothing
You watched the video so joke is on you. This video is gold for people who dont want to pay a mechanic to rebuild a motor.
