I am sitting here as a 45 year old metalhead from Sweden yelling: "YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF MC HAMMER?!?!".
I just got done watching a guy who just discovered that Pink Floyd is a band, not a clothing line. If you want to feel old and amazed at the same time, check out Yoyoka Soma.
@@kekelaward I KNOW....Those younguns'! :)
Same
@@kekelaward
I'm sitting here stoned looking at the dusty old sticker that says."Legalize Shemp" under his picture...!!! ^5.....!!!!?-( ´◡‿ゝ◡`)
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!! I was just telling my friend I find that kind of hard to believe! 🤣🤣🤣
Every cookout.
Every party.
Every function.
Every sporting event.
Every school dance & skating rink.
Every club. Sometimes 3 times a night.
Every radio station at AM/PM drive time.
You couldn't touch it.
I can't remember one function: school, family or church, that didn't play MC HAMMER for all of my junior high and high school years.
Every workout class
Every martial arts class.
"any altercation" Genius! this would defuse any powder key situation...instant dance party! one of the twins most fun!
My reply is like Tony Stark's: "Well, you're not wrong."
😝
My daughter who is now 40 was all about MC Hammer when she was a kid. When she was about 10, she'd be sliding back and forth and doing the running man across the kitchen with this song cranked up while I was trying to cook dinner.
bruh. My dumb ass recorded myself dancing to this when I was about 9/10 years old. My sister has a copy of it and has made it a point to show it to anyone who will watch it lol. Thank GOD she hasn't put it on UA-cam.
@@I_like_turtles_67
Is it on UA-cam yet? I'd love to see original footage of a kid back in the day getting down to this! Literally Classic! C'mon.. Do it!!
I wasn't exactly living under a rock rather on the rock so, following these guys I'm hearing/watching this music for the first time too. Its really a great experience for me too!
Oh, but BTW .. even I knew about Hammertime!
😂😂😂😂
I am 43 years OLD, AND I have a smile on my face because you took me back to my teenage days with this song. Greetings from CROATIA 😊🇭🇷
For just a moment listening I was back there. Smiling hand remembering the feeling of seeing that video.
Ja slučajno tu, isto iz Hrvatske 😂 Pozz! ❤
❤️
if U grew up in the 90s when you hear STOP you either know its hammertime OR you collaborate and listen
So true!lol
This comment wins the internet for me today!
OMG for real!!
The gospel sis 😆
but what if it's in the name of love
I'm a teacher now and I enjoy singing "Stop. Grammar time!" then doing a little dance in my seat to the music in my head. My teens have no clue, bless them.
😹🙋
😂😂😂 I love that!!!
lol that is fabulous!
Love it
Too cute 😍
My favorite thing about watching the two of you groove along to these songs I grew up with, is that your videos make me feel like I'm hearing them for the first time right along with you.
Right? I was thinking the same thing. My daughter looks at me sideways when I listen to this song. Its fun to watch these boys enjoy our music!
These boys have good taste.love this channel🇺🇸💯💙
There is a back up dancer that is now a coach and rewards his kids with the hammer dance when they do good.
This WAS played at EVERY get together in the early 1990’s!!!!
I was raised in a strict Christian household, and MC Hammers tape was one of the only "secular" tapes I was allowed to buy! He's actually a preacher as well as musician too.
Heather Tracy me too👩🏼🦳
Just like Al Green
53 years old and to this day every time I hear someone say Stop my mind goes Hammer Time!
A friend of mine was dancing to this song while driving and a cop pulled her over because he thought she was having a seizure I still LMAO when I think about it. Those pants were called Hammer Pants as he started the trend and yes guys and girls worn them. I had a pair and they were really comfortable.
😁🤣
This made my day 👏😂
🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Hilarious🤣
MC Hammer was EVERYTHING for 3 years running. His “Pray” is the greatest. Talent, generosity, faith. He had it all. Ex-military, he hired 100s of dancers to tour with him, all regular kids off the streets. Trained them, work outs, no drugs . . . His generous nature was his downfall - it couldn’t support the weight of all those ppl and he lost millions, tried to go hard core rap, realized he needed to go back to his faith and true self. He’s got a great story - check it out. So very talented.
I liked that one too but his first song that gave him some fan recognition was the title song "Pump It Up" that's actually one of my favorites by him. But I also liked "Pumps And The Bumps" Now that one was BANGIN'!!!!
YOU'RE SO CORRECT SUSAN. HE WAS VERY GENEROUS. BUT GOD HAD TO BREAK HIM DOWN TO GET HIM WHERE HE WANTED HIM. NOW HE IS HUMBLE AND DOING GREAT.
Hammer had the best heart! Good guy!
The other thing about Hammer is that for some reason he didn't connect with the African American audience - I remember the movie where they commented he had the whitest audience of any rap artist.
@@jamesrawlins735 Hammer didn't connect because he wasn't doing ratchet rap
Guys, he needed those big pants the way he moved. I'm 70 and I'm sitting here doing hammer time on my chair.💃💃💃💓
😆I'm picturing this in my mind and LOVING IT!
LOL! Gotta be done!
Whenever I hear the word "Stop" I have to say... "hammer time" .... it's the rules
@@fatproductreview3287 Love that 😄

MC Hammer was an amazing entertainer; they dance thru this entire video; this song is soooooooo much fun; and yes this song was played everywhere; MC Hammer I'd brilliant
So fun to watch you both. I’m 73 and I love how you make me remember the first time I heard these songs.
I still can't hear people say "stop", without mentally adding "hammer time".
Ev’ry damned time.
No kidding! 🤣🤣
Or "collaborate and listen."
Same!
me too!! my husband and I often end up using music bars when we hit on what feels like an unfinished line and the pleasure is bonding.
Hammer missed his calling as an exercise instructor. We was IN SHAPE
For those from the UK, Mr Motivator would have been exercising to this song for sure!!!
HI Rodney. Great call! I used to teach aerobics in the 80's and 90's, and this song was a staple in my classes! MC Hammer could have taught the class himself and would have been amazing at it!!
Super Energized 😁
I went to his concert and it' was the most amazing show. He and his dancers dance this way through the entire concert. Beyond talented
Hammer put on a hell of a show. The energy was through the roof his whole set. On the pants, I’m thinking it’s because of his Hammer dance & how he kept everything clean.
It didn’t matter what genre you listened to back then - you knew this song.
This is so true, I listened to country music back then and I knew this song.
LMAO. Damn straight
And knew the dance!
Don’t ask about the pants, guys. We’re still trying to act like that didn’t happen. Lol!!! Hammerpants!!!!! 😂😂😂
So true
😂
LOL but a lot of us had a pair. They were comfortable though.
My Z Cavariccis were looking FLY back then!!
Hahaha I remember sewing my own ‘Hammer Pants’!!!

I went to a Hammer concert in DC back in the day; I danced through the whole show and was soaking wet when I left!!
MC Hammer was the jam. At all parties. And he did get some of us in
" hammer pants". Love your reactions to the various vibes of music
And i for sure would get a "hammer" in my pants after listening to this!
Everyone loved this. The people who say they didn’t are lying.
Even if they didn't love it you would catch them tapping their feet or bobbing their heads! "Hammer Time!"
This was played EVERYWHERE, it became mainstream that even white folks were playing it. Great Canadian Hit!
Facts.
Octy, you are correct about many liked the tune. It was a hugh hit. Major crossover tune too.
Damn straight bro.
It was mandatory to say "HAMMER TIME!" and break into hysterical giggles every time you heard the word "stop!"
what do you mean "was"? everyone still does that :P
Stanley Burrell,AKA....MC Hammer, when I was in a club, everyone danced!!!! NOBODY ever was sitting ...Love you guys, you are bringing me back!!I am 62 and loving all of what you do.
Literally every time I watch one of these videos I’m happy. I love when fine young people make you feel hopeful for the future. They are so sweet.
Tone Loc "Funky Cold Medina" Super fun banger song.
100 percent! oldie but a goodie,,,,
Yes! There were so many fun, great early hip-hop songs in the late 1980s/early 1990s. For example: "Bust a Move" by Young MC, "The Humpty Dance" by Digital Underground, "Now That We Found Love" by Heavy D, maybe "Poison" by Bel Biv DeVoe, "OPP" by Naughty by Nature...
@@oregonchick76 Nice list! don't forget "Word Up" by Cameo!
YESSSSS Word Up is my jam!
Oh, man. That's a great one. I was just a kid back then.
When this song played at HS dances, everyone busted out their MC Hammer moves. No one was sitting down!Wonderful memories, thank you for the trips down memory lane for so many of us.
Good lord! My sons and there friends played this song over and over and tried to dance like MCH. Infectious.
The Clubs use to be JUMPING, when MCHammers “ can’t Touch This” was played. It was FIRE then and it still is a Party starter.🔥🔥🔥
First Vanilla Ice and now this - the next time someone yells the word STOP, you wont know whether it's hammer time or you should collaborate and listen.

😂
“Them pants got super powers” 😂😂😂😂😂 y’all have no idea how HUGE MC Hammer was back then and this song was a MUST at EVERY event....y’all reacting to this music is so refreshing so happy for all of your success
The best part of their reaction was their recognition that it would have been played everywhere, even before anyone told them that. I love that about them!
Diana Dloughy exactly
Loving these guys ..such a joy
This was how we stayed in shape listening to his music cause there was no way you could stay still
Even into the mid 2000’s this was a club favorite, everyone knew it and couldn’t not dance, pure joy!
I know of no person ever being able to sit still when hearing this. I'm 57 and still gotta move to it. IT'S HAMMER TIME!
Right? LOL
Fun fact: when Hammer came out, his brand was a “wholesome and friendly rapper”. Other rappers thought he was soft. They soon found out, he was not as he stepped to many a rapper face to face to ask if they had a problem with him and they backed down. Hammer was nice but absolutely no punk 😩😩
They forgot he was from East Oakland. Or didn't realize it's hard to be a punk and grow up there.
But then the brought us "Pumps and a Bump"
No cuss words and still outsold their records. 🤔😁
He was also pretty much "acceptable" among audiences who hadn't listened to rap before. Like, there were little girls in the suburbs doing dance routines to this song at their school talent shows, where there was no way a lot of their parents would have considered rap appropriate music even a year earlier, aside from a couple of gimmick songs.
Hillary Einziger MC Hammer, clean rap 😁
Can not impart to you how big this song was and how big Hammer was--one of my fav memories is watching him at the '91 MTV music Awards dancing in the aisles with his crew SUCH a vivid memory of the EXCITEMENT I felt
When he said "You can't Touch this" He had the Cred to back it up
NOBODY could touch him for those few yrs he DOMINATED
Yes, we all loved MC Hammer and so many of the early 90s acts. They had energy. I remember trying to dance to this when I was a kid, trying the moves in the video. NOPE. You needed endurance just to be able to do some of the stuff for more than 1 minute. Watch a live MC Hammer performance. He and his crew were doing that for long stretches at a time. The desire to dance to this music gave you reason to keep up your cardio. BTW that side shuffle is iconic. LOL
Also gotta say, I'm not really surprised you young guys haven't heard of this music. Your ears are likely bombarded by the new "pop" music and commercials. Music that's older tends to get relegated to "classics", "oldies", "retro", "old school", "throwback", etc. I get it. That's what radio does, pushes the new. But I'm glad you guys are taking an interest in the old music, even if it's just for developing your channel. If you have a broader perspective, or greater knowledge and experience, and you learn from that, then marketing will have less effect on you and whatever new songs come out, if they suck, you won't be fooled to believe they are good. Good luck.
YES! Us children of the “80’s” did wear these pants and we literally called them Hammer pants! 😂. Can’t forget the parachute pants we wore as well, with black and white checked Vans of coarse! Also you know you’re a child of the 80’s when you hear STOP! you’re never sure wether it’s Hammer time.....or you should collaborate and listen! 😉🤣
They've made a comeback during quarantine. Look up Thai Harem Pants. I got 2 of them!
Yes I wore them too, we called them Hammer Pants or Diaper pants. lol
I walked into school one day and everyone kept saying STOP and I had no idea I was supposed to say HAMMERTIME. It took until lunch before someone clued me in...
@@courtneybermack lol, to this day when someone says stop, I say "HAMMERTIME" lol
This song came out in 1990...
Now you HAVE to listen to: "Super Freak" by Rick James where the sample for this song was taken from.

Yup, they need to check that one out, the beat is unmistakable.
Too bad, i can upvote you only one time
Abso-freaking-lutely.
Great suggestion!
WE DANCED OUR ASSES OFF EVERYTIME THIS JOINT CAME ON, HAD THE PANTS ON TOO...FLY AS F@CK back in the day. You had no idea, we did the same as you twins, watch the song memorized the dances steps and hit the dance floor for a dance off, it was the best time the 80-90s!
The facial expressions when the groove hits with you guys are priceless.
U Can't Touch This was a global phenomenon, number one in multiple countries all over the world, won countless awards, I believe Hammer also started the trend for wearing your pants really low on your waist. It samples Rick James' Super Freak, which would be a good one for you to listen to sometime.
And he lost all of his money due to excessive spending and that huge crew he used to travel with.
@@JARNJ3 Didn't lose it all though, contrary to public opinion. He's doing all right. Did lose tremendous amounts though
I second them reacting to Rick James, “Super Freak”
He didn't water his pants low on his waist. He had them made with the crotch low, like Jeannie pants. Better for dancing. No sagging pants for MC Hammer. 😁
I loved the Reaction to Hammer.
I'm addicted to Y'all.
Think about listening to Bootsy Collins "I'd Rathet Be With You".
I also remember staying up way too late waiting for this song to play on the radio so I could record it to my mix tape. Y'all don't understand the magic of streaming music. Imagine not having anything you want to listen to available whenever you want.
Or running through the house to turn the radio up when the DJ finally plays your favorite song, lol. 😜
haha! yes, thank you for that memory! Mix tapes for the win!
Playing top 9 at 9pm on the radio to win concert tickets or local dance club tickets and the list goes on. 😂😂😂
I still have a shit load of old mixed cassette tapes.
Mix tapes! What a blast from the past!
I remember back in the day the dance floor was empty but when the DJ put this on the floor was crowded loved this song been a long time since I've heard it so thanks for getting my dancing round my kitchen guys love your reactions
My wife met him many times in the 80s and 90s. She said he was one of the nicest guys she ever met.❤
I actually saw MC Hammer at the airport in LA last year with his entourage.
He's super nice and offered to take a pic with me ❤
He still has an entourage? Didnt he learn anything
😂😂😂 I guess not, but there was only around 5-6 guys that I saw. One took our pic. He looked good too!

This was MC Hammers breakout song! It was a massive hit here in Nairobi, Kenya. And a mainstay for working out in gymns because of the beat..
I was born in 1988 and one of the first memories of music I remember hearing this song.
Brought it up to my mom and she said “that’s because that song conquered radio. You couldn’t leave the house in 90-91 without hearing this song at least 2-3 times on your work commute”
I personally like MC Hammer's " To Legit to quit" much better. You have to give that a listen.
So do I😃
Yes the "genie" pants were a "thing" in late 80's early 90's.

Guys! This song was all over the world. Every 90s person has heard, if nothing else, the music was everywhere, including in ads.
This video started the trend called "Hammer pants." True story.
MC Hammer made these pants his own style. He also popularized several of the dance moves in this vid.
Is that also what they used to call superfly pants? I seem to remember that phrase
but also harem pants, similar style for women. Women were more likely to wear that style on a daily basis or at least when dressing up. But the pants including jeans of the era from mid 80s to mid 90s in general had higher waists and a fuller seat and thigh than slacks/ jeans were before or since. I miss that style.
They were cool about 3 minutes in 1990, then middle age white dudes started wearing them as regular attire up into the 2000s. XD
