Never .. disrespect MC... this.. here song.. got ALOT of us through 1989 and early 1990.. trust..!!! I will always be grateful this man was part of my life :)
Now this is one brotha whose humanitarianism is soooo underrated. Hammer helped many people by taking them off of the streets , some straight out of jail and others just down on their luck by giving them jobs and taking them on tour with him. And when the money left, they left. People give Vanilla Ice the credit for taking rap mainstream, but it was Hammer with this song. And Run DMC before him with "Walk This Way." I'm glad you're giving him his flowers. He's more than deserving. ❤
Yeah,Many of those people were friends from the neighborhood they weren’t just strangers. It wasn’t so much that they left because the money ran out. Many of them not use to structure would get into fights with others from opposite gangs that were there as well and Hammer had to spend money to straighten things out and they were just bad for business. So, Some ended up just going back to the street. I don’t know if you understand this but many people from the neighborhood will come back and lookout as we call it. But,Hammer learned a valuable lesson that you can’t help everybody. Lol Believe it or not a rapper/ actor by the name of Ice-T can be credited with taking Rap mainstream as well with a Rock/Rap band. He recorded and performed a song called “Fuck the Po$&@e”.That song exposed to his predominantly white audiences helped and a trio of three white guys called the “Beastie Boys”helped as well. Just adding a lil info to your comment. Lol
Parachute pants was the style then. We danced back in the late 80s and early 90s. We didn't just shake ass. You came away from the dance floor tired and sweaty. And EVERYONE danced nobody held up the walls.
MC Hammer aka Stanley Burrell is the pride of Oakland CA. In his youth, he was a bat boy for the Oakland A's. Reggie Jackson and the A's owner thought he looked like baseball legend Hank (The Hammer) Aaron, and the nickname stuck. During his heyday, he had hit records, main song in Addams Family movie, a Saturday cartoon called Hammer-Man. Hammer still lives in Tracy CA with his wife of almost 38 years Stephanie and they have raised five kids, and a nephew. Although always mentioned for his infamous financial fall, Hammer employed people from Oakland who needed a job. Hammer has never been broke. He is heavily invested in tech, produces acts, involved with youth ministries in the states and abroad. Truly a wonderful man.
Shawny I m 64 and you earned my respect and also a subscription to your page. You were very respectful and honest during your commentary of this video. Keep up the good work and please show us those oldies but goodies. 💕
Dude, those pants were MC Hammer's signature. And MC Hammer just so you'll is who influenced people like Bobby Brown and Chris Brown. Although I lot of people will not give him credit he has definitely made his mark in the music industry in the late 80's and early 90's. He was and still is the bomb in my opinion.
Everyone loved him! The song, the dancing, and even the pants! He was one of a kind… Had a few bad breaks and I feel bad for him because he was a really decent human being. Still love him! ❤️
First things first, another amazing reaction by you. Secondly, all these new age rappers need to recognize a LEGEND and a GOON when they see one! MC Hammer was running all of Cali (he is from the Bay). He is incomparable. He was setting dancing trends before we even knew what that was lol
When rap was rap and clean and dancing could not be touched. MC HAMMER. LEGEND. Thanks SHAUNY TV. If you haven't Reacted to Vanilla Ice 'Ice Ice Baby' yet hope you do so. Thanks. Great Reaction.🙏💋🤩
Echo all the praise, the memories, & the awesomely choreographed video, which also showcases the incredible athleticism & dance skills not just of the incredible MC Hammer but the backup dancers, most/all women ☺️
Hilarious. Back in the day we were asking wtf is he wearing too!!! Aside from his fashion sense the music is upbeat and infectious. Makes you want to get up and dance.
The way he danced calls for the baggy pants. What he was doing would not have happened wearing skinny jeans. A lot of artist back then could truly dance.
💃 💃 💃 💃 He literally invented that move.. It's been known as the MC Hammer dance ever since.. Just like those pants. MC hammer pants and people went crazy for em. Lol. Ask any 40+ year olds able the dance and and pants. They'll know what you're talking about 😆
They're called Hammer pants! He made them famous. And just wait, you're going to hear, "Stop, Hammer time!" somewhere now...it's still around, lol..so now you'll know what they're talking about.
Those were called parachute pants or harem pants. Popular style in the late 80s-early 90s. That was the early days of "sampling." Hammer got in trouble with this song for sampling the main riff from Rick James' "Super Freak" without permission. Hammer was sued by James, but it was settled out of court, with Hammer agreeing to credit James as a songwriter.
They're known as MC Hammer pants. He had them.made so he could dance without being restricted. I knew some dudes that wore them in the clubs back in the day.
Your expression says it all 😂😂😂😂 Get it Shawny! This was a total hit! The pants, and boots was everything to us at the time! Everyone use to use the term "You can't touch this" for everything 😂😂😂 And Hammer was a dancer! Period! Please do Turn this mutha out by him also. Straight hit! Love your reaction ❤️
Shawny dancing and trying to do the choreography of the videos has me crying laughing every time. Before Hammer, rappers used to walk back and forth on stage with a microphone and maybe a hype man. It was not a performance. But when Hammer came out, he put on a show and made everybody step their game up, add dancers and hype men and choreography, etc. Two words...Hammer Pants. His live concerts were on another level and he didn't stop even when the show was supposed to be over. Check out Let's get it started or Pump it up.
MC Hammer got that pants style from Bobby Brown. Bobby wore them first then Hammer asked Bobby if he could sport them in his shows/videos...sign of respect between the two artists at the time. No biting allowed.
Funny you said he's a dancing machine because he has song and video called "Dancing Machine". Nobody made party hip hop tunes like Hammer. He gets down in all his videos, "Let's get it Started" and "They Put me in the Mix" along with dancing machine. You should check 'em out.
Oh, Shawny🤣🤣🤣🤣 You had me cracking up. Those pants are legendary. In Living Color did a comedy sketch ft. Comedian, Tommy Davidson. You have to see it. Its hilarious😂 Three songs to check out by Mc Hammer: Let's Get It Started, Here comes the Hammer, Pumps In A Bump. Check those out. Great reaction😂👍🏾
While some people mistakenly refer to those pants as parachute pants, parachute pants were actually not baggy at and were made out of parachute material with lots of zippers all over them. Parachute pants were popular about 5 years before this. These are harem pants.
Omg i feel freakin old hearing this song i was a kid when this song came out . when music was good and had a message too.💞💞 now i need to look up JJ Fad i wanna hear supersonic. Lol 🥴
This was my dude back in the day. You should react to his song, They Put Me In The Mix. If you enjoyed his dancing in U Can't Touch This, you'll love him in Put Me In The Mix.
LMAO..Shawn your reaction is hysterical..you know you wanna do that dance,, next video show us what you got..lol you were literally in baby heaven when this came out..
Yeah,I loved Hammer back in the day!!! LOL. I was in the navy c-school when Hammer came out,I remember dancing at the enlisted club to his songs. FUN-TIMES.
Guilty as charged doing that Hammer dance on the playground during recess after a great play with the boys. You have no idea how big this was. It didn't matter what size or race you were. If you saw someone doing that dance, it means that person just did something awesome, and their friends were there to see it or joined in.
Awesome reaction 😂😂 hammer was everything back then. It's funny that you called him a dancing machine cause he has a song called Dancing Machine. You should react to it 🤎
This song was just a big re-make of Rick James' "Super Freak" which came out years earlier. To appreciate "You Can't Touch This", you gotta hear "Super Freak"!
Hammer was the jam on the 90's He was bad. MC is the OG forget Those others other than MJ, this is the man. Shout out to the Ladies they are in incredible shape, that's a workout
Please react to they put me in the mix .. I went to a Mc Hammer concert and him and his dancers were dancing the whole time non stop. It’s was crazy the Energy and determination !!!!!!🔥🕺🏾🕺🏾❤️
That dance where he is going left to right is called The Typewriter! Lmbo just typing it, but it's true. Something you youngsters don't know about the pain of having to correct an error you typed on a typewriter. I can't even find an emoji! Lol wow! 🤣

I lived in Los Angeles back then. I don't remember a single person wearing these besides MC Hammer.

Even people who aren’t into rap loved M.C. Hammer.
We called them "Hammer Pants" in my hood 😂
We called them hammer pants on the backroads in the country too lol.
Literally everybody called them Hammer pants.
We called them parachute or harem pants.
AKA “genie pants”
We all called them that.
I love it when young people discover how much fun we oldsters were having back in the day (even when wearing "Hammer Pants").
It's Hammer Time!!! 😱🔥🔥🔥

Hammer was Thee man to dance to when my wife and I got married back in 1990.!
When Hammer started doing gospel music, he was the FIRST Kirk Franklin. He had some bangers! For real 🙏🏾🔥 That hip hop, pop, gospel dancing.
