With the entry of J31, it is very likely that the Pakistan Air Force will completely overwhelm the Indian Air Force. This has never happened in the past few decades.

We cant even make up mind on buying 4th gen fighter, expecting us to make right decision on 5th generation is like asking for the moon.
In project planning there are various kinds of timelines.
1) optimistic timelines
2) realistic timelines.
3) pessimistic timelines
Many times our defence equipments development agencies when they make announcement of timelines it is mostly optimistic among optimistic timelines and but in reality or actuallity it ends up in pessimistic among the pessimistic time lines .
Case in the point is light combat aircraft(lca) aka tejas aircraft , this project was started in early 1980's with a planned first flight in late 1980's and induction in mid 1990's to replace mig-21 but the reality or actuality of timeline of events has been totally different from what had been actually planned or envisaged.
Is there any difference for India? India will break all the timelines. 🤣🤣

We should get the Su57 while we still have the economical advantage. Even if we manage tlprocure 76 Su57 russia might shift the production line in India and Su57 already flying with AL51 engine by the name of Su57M. By using their weak economy we can also get higher TOT transfer from them. As they are drastically losing their international market and Chinese will never go for any Russian jets except India if India gets a good tot and Service offer from Russia

It’s highly improbable that Russians would even consider TOT Most probably USA will sanction us and SU 57 does not have the fifth generation capability that we require. Seriously it’s not a viable option it’s much more of an interceptor, than multirole aircraft there is a reason why we pulled out of that program.
@@kumarprince555 if we ask us then us will surely provide equipment but with tons of formalities and limitations( from using it in specific roles to third party weapon limitations). Which we have already seen. We will not face atleast those limitations from russian side and we aren't 2004 India anymore we have enough capability to increase the reliability of Russian engines and we have enough Authority from Russia to include our very own 5the gen mission computer to induct our own avionics and Weapons in future upgradation, which we are doing with Su 30 MKI.
A major issue is only 6 Su-57 airplanes exist in the world

Not selling to F-15 to Saudi was not because of backstabbing but because US congress passed a bill that USAF F-15 EX II will be procured first before any foreign sales.

India ki kisi company ke paas 5 th generation fighter jet banane ka koi experience nhi hai. Turkey was a partner in f 35 manufacturing process. So turkey has a lot of experience in manufacturing of 5th generation fighter jet.
An ideal counter to stealth is more powerful airdefense shield.

In a panic or immediate basis a deal of 10-12 F-35s till 2028-2029 so it could balance and counter the neighbouring developments .... And the prior focus should be on the Tejas Mk2's quickest development and after that speedy production rates and the Mk2 should be designed as a close to 5th gen platform , so that more number these if built quicker can serve as counter 5th gen planes , As pakistan may procure J-31s but cannot be in larger numbers .....

Sir....whichever way we go, our domestic AMCA can be developed & inducted with acceptable capabilities and on time only after our engine troubles are sorted out...i am no expert, just an enthusiast, but mark my words the 110-120kn engine we are seeking for AMCA Mk2 will not give it sufficient power to sustain its performance & power the future avionics/eo-ir systems...we will need atleast a 130-150kn engine to power any single or twin engine 5th gen fighter...although it will be costly but if we want to secure our future capabilities we must take a 3-pronged approach....FIRST, is to invest in domestic infra for developing a suitable jet engine for AMCA variantals...SECOND, immediately push for 114 Rafales so that our private players get assembly experience & we get some engine tech through safran JV....THIRD, try to get as much US or Russian support/tot, in case of US for not just F-414s but more importantly for F-110-129/132 for this even if we need to purchase 40-60 F-15s or F-35s we must go for it...another alternative will be to purchase 40-60 Su-57s if we get full TOT for Iz-30s or atleast AL-41s

Delays are only half of the bad news,the real bad news is we are seriously lacking behind Pakistan.pakistan is already upgrading thier jf-17 block1 and block-2 to jf-17 block-3 and they are already inducting j10c and the moment they will induct kaan and j-30,they will become aggressive on borders they might not even wait for 1 week and then we will face another balakot and then government will be pressurized to buy foreign fighter jets and our own programs will face even further dealys

Solution is quite complex: our production rates really need to improve - but for that we need to increase the number of qualified people working in these high-demand high-skill jobs - that's where we lack. We can't expect TEDBF, AMCA, LCA Mk2 not to forget the various UAV, LCH, LCA, and transport projects to go fast if we don't invest in scientists, engineers, production lines on a war footing. We also need to seal - requirements. Changes to requirements can be made in future upgrades. Also, we need to reduce the number of aircraft types we operate to may be 2 fighters to max 3

Recent Tejas crash showed inadequacy of single engine fighter jet. I think even before AMCA, Tejas Mk2 should be migrated a 2 engine format using the airframe that DRDO has. That knowledge can then be reused in TEDBF and AMCA. More fighter models that need to be researched on leads to more delays.

Atleast we can copy tail wing from f35. It's just providing a diagonal small cut upper dorsal part of rear wing , which requires no expertise but significant reduction in RCS from certain angle, such measures make f35 more stealthy then j20. Right now it looks like of j20
Eventually we will end up procuring a limited sqardrone of 5th gen category from foreign OEM as a stopgap measure just like rafale and side-by-side give a development space for AMCA.

India should move towards quantum radar with speed.There is only two aircraft which are really stealth F22 and F 35. We are already ahead in our missile program which will act as deterrent.

Best option is to buy Su 57. If india doesn't want another swift retort.
Prioritize resources to speed up AMCA by dropping TEDBF or de-prioritize it to follow-up AMCA as AMCA-Navy derivative. Possibly Navy can handle it's responsibilities with Rafale-M for the next decade or two.
Completing 5th Gen development and start working on / collaborating on 6th Gen simultaneously including Stealth UCAVs will add more value for money and time than developing dedicated platforms for different services simultaneously. India may not have the time and resources for that considering the threat development in the region.
well, I don't agree with this we are inducting Tejas mk1a in the meantime we have to give 110+ rafale order which we receive by 2027-28 in ideal situation. if we opt for any other aircraft other than rafale that would be similar in price, and we will get them in similar timeline as rafales than what's the point going of new machine with similar capability.
best option would be we order 40+ f35b/c variant from USA for our both aircraft carriers if we can get them, we can use them in our borders like P8 & we can also explain to USA that we are not using them with s400 & later tedbf with f35 will give IN unmatched capability against even bigger aircraft carriers of PLAN.
But India is still buying Russian frigates with similar radar that excuse won't work.
At least 5-10 prototypes should be made and testing time should be limited to a year or two

Today i feel- Joining FGFA could have been a blessing. Today we stand where we vr then...our AMCA is still on paper and 10-15 years down the line. Today FGFA (Su 57) is ready and flying and SU 75 will in air in nxt 5 years. Dont know if it was a Sabotoge by Pro Chinese groups or our attitude of - I know better than u.? Today not we would have been flying modified SU 57 but would have been far ahead of Turkey n Korea and close to China......Brahmos is the classic example...we modified Brahmos and its deadly cruise missile in service. In nut shell we lost this Stealth/5th Gen project dearly

The problem with India is that they want to make the best fighter without having any experience in creating one and this leads them to delays in research and selection. Until then, their enemies get or make weapons much better than them, and this leads India to Panic buying. This is the history of India and even now it does not seems to be a different case.
India first need to create a Jet that is atleast 4.5+ gen, even if it lacks some capabilities. This will give them an experience and insight of how to move forward and hence they will be able to create Modern Jets and technologies much faster. Pakistan and China have did the same in the past which led them to create Jets which initially were not too advanced but later on they upgraded them to much better jets, or created new jets equipped with much modern technology based on their past experience.

What if Trump comes to power next year and India initiates a deal for around 60 F-35 from the US to balance out the situation until AMCA is developed?

Pakistan will not induct 5gen fighters in large no, their economic condition doesn't allow them to. To counter that small fleet of 5 gen fighters sizeable fleet of Rafale F4, 126 under MMRCA should be more than enough. Tejas Mk1A and Tejas Mk2 will also be good counter.

TEDBF should be scrapped because we already have RAFALE......Naval version of AMCA should be considered for future Aircraft operations.
HAL is culprit for painful delays. So Government will have to involve private players domestic or foreign.
Other than delayed AMCA mk1 mk2 5th gen stealth fighter TEDBF F-35 or SU 57 is the only option to counter J-31 n KAAN of PAF.
What about buying F35 of the shelf.
I'd like to offer a touch of realism to my fellow Indians.
1. Currently F22 and F35 are the only true 5th Gen fighters and neither of them are on offer to India. They will never be offered to India in a full "5th Gen" configuration. So forget about those.
2. No country is going to offer India transfer of advanced 5th Gen technologies in engines, RAM coatings etc.
3. French and British next Gen fighters are 10-15 years away.
4. AMCA will be a 25-year programme from 2020 when it was sanctioned and will never match the capability of US, European and Russian aircraft - the country does not have the necessary technology base nor the economy to support such a major undertaking. Even the chosen engine does not have true 5th gen characteristics.
5. The Turkish and Korean "5th Gen" fighters will also fall in the same category - they look like like 5th Gen fighters but will be reasonably capable advanced 4th gen fighters for the same reasons.
If I was a key Indian decision maker, capable of ignoring politically driven dreams, I would:
1. Progress AMCA as a long term technology development venture; Drop TEDBF- no country can afford to produce a new fighter on the basis of a 100 unit production plan.
2. Acquire additional 36 to 72 Rafale;
3. Get onto the Russian Su75 programme as an airfrme/engine only partner with the prospect that a capable airframe/engine could be put into production in 10 years time;
4. Continue with Tejas Mk1a, MKII to maintain the squadron strength;
5. Focus on asymetric counters to the Chinese advanced aircraft i.e. missiles, radars etc.

We should make atleast one fighter machine program with our current available engine like Al41 ( su 30 mki engine) because its available atleast we don't suffer with engine supply issue & we should make simple like delta design ofcourse low rcs category like su 75 with less time I think its a practical make machine with current recorses no future recorces & completely dependend other new engine its time consuming process its should be avoide by the way don't compromise with fire power its important.... I think India & hal drdo have capability to build simple delta design semi stealth fighter plane like su 75 its not hard.
India should buy 5th gen jets in small numbers it will be good for airforce and HAL also

Well.. i just can't understand why that much panic about 5th gen capabilities. Even Airforce is not in panic then why these youtube analysts? Ukraine doesn't even have good radars, air defense as of now.. do u see Russia using SU 57 there? NO.
Fifth Gen aircrafts can be detected by advance radars when they are in range of approx 100 kms. Bhai India and Pak k airfields me distance hi kitna h? Do u think PAF will try using its new Fifth gen fighters against India? Even if they start getting deliveries from 2030 onwards, it will take them atleast 5 years to fully integrate the aircraft in their AF.
You can easily perform the same tasks with cruise missiles what u wanna perform using 5th Gen aircrafts here. Why panic then?
Only this type of reasoning has costed India several important platforms to acquire in the past... God forbid if we have two side attack then considering Ukraine war.. things can go anywhere
There is no need to rush in a 5th generation fighter, the only add on in a 5th gen is the stealth capability, which is not that easy to achieve, and as far as Pakistan inducting 5th gen fighter is concerned, well jus putting 5th gen tag doesn't proves its stealth capabilities.

@aryan2442 agreed , but Pakistan is in a rush for the 5th gen, which India should not follow. We should focus on quality, and besides, India is in a better position when it comes to 4.5 gen fighters which are better in terms of payload caring capacity, and 5th gens are only used in special operations. Overall, I jus want amca to be a quality 5th gen aircraft that proves its stealth capacity otherwise there's no point in gong for 5th gen. And I still think that it'll be difficult for a country like Pakistan to make somthing substantial in stealth even with the help of other counties like China or turkey considering the only proven stealth technology is in f22 and f35 and we all know how difficult it is to maintain 😄.

AMCA is based on F-35 philosophy it's a STRIKE Fighter not a Air superiority Fighter. AMCA don't have Fox-2 CCM "bomb bay" like F-22 and J-20 has not sure about KAAN and J-31. Unfortunately we'll need Su-57 for Air superiority and Close Combat when both side has low RCS jets eventually they will face eachother in close dog fight situation and in this case AMCA can't defend itself if it don't have Fox-2 close combat missiles. We must have Su-57 and AMCA to compliment eachother and work as a team where AMCA engane with long range and Su-57 will take the risk if needed and engage in close combat. Pakistan and China both are border with India and their is very very high chance that our pilot will face situation where they have to dogfight!!

Basic understanding if IAF say no that is no. India run 3 projects of fighter aircraft and 4th going to join next year. (In reality 5th also running from this year)It shows confidence of IAF and IN on DRDO. Govt also very confident. With time experience and knowledge increases and its result in less time on testing and production. U know IAF find hard to buy Rafale after Mirage upgrade. India seems weak against China in number but believe me China is in disadvantage against India. We are defensive and China is offensive this equation change all perspectives. Himalaya is not a easy battle ground China know it we know it. So when buyer is confident makers are confident and financer is also confident so as citizen of my country i am also confident. First of all these two aircraft have completed their first flight and in near future it will conduct more flights with different systems fitted in it. India AMCA is still on a paper lying in a corner. When your AMCA conducts first flight then talk about it. Before that keep your mouth shut.
