    India needs to increase its budget .almost 15 to 20 % of the defense budget goes to navy which is not enough in any sense and revolutionise it's defense industry . Given our needs we need to have a strong control over our sees to defend and choke our major enemy and we lack that capability either a revolution in technology or high caliber weapon we need. both highly unlikely given our investment

    Sir...3 AC plan is ok but if our IN wants to be a real naval power & absolutely control the 'extended' IOR region, we will need 4-5 ACs in next 15-20 years...a possible optimal plan would be start another Vikrant-class while working on 65000t catapult carrier...to gain experience in design & operations of such carriers we might look at purchasing HMS Prince of Wales, if available, or one of the near de-commissioning USN carrier...as its not just about building a large carrier, its about optimizing the design as well as efficient operations on these 'giants' & not to forget it would be our first catapult carrier in recent decades

    Why we need super carrier like USA or China. We have the ecosystem to make another 2-3 aircraft carrier of INS Vikrant class with a shorter period of time . Follow the Chinese way of Just copy pest & order more Rafale M.This is more economic also. Another way is just to buy 2nd Aircraft carrier of Queen Elizabeth class & then modifying it according to our capacity if UK agree to sell it.

    You did a good job, but you forgot to take one thing into consideration.
    You assumptions of building timeline of IAC-3 and TEDBF is based on India's current manufacturing capabilities. Whereas we are talkies about 2030-40. In the next 10-15 years india will have significant capability boast, and likewise the time of building one ship will also go down significantly. Also our economy will be big enough to take multiple projects at once. Yes I am not saying our capabilities will be matching that of china, but it will be way better than what we are now today.
    I seriously doubt that it will take us 15 years to build a nuclear power carrier, that's actually a very big exaggeration. If we are taking that the order of IAC-3 will be given in 2033-35, then it would likely only take around 6-10 years (6 years at best, 10 years at Max). Same with the production of TEDBF, by the time TEDBF comes in production (around 2033), india would have enough capability to deliver all TEBFs, faster than what we are now.
    So given the timeline, IAC 2 will be completed by 2032 (given the orders are given in 2026), and if from 2034 the order of IAC-3 was given, then we would get IAC-3 by 2040-42 (depending on the order date, it can be faster of slower than this)

    I think most of all, The Navy needs to justify what kind of sea control and power projection it can achieve with the Vikrant class and with barely 1 squadron (~20 figthers + other helicopters) worth of planes, against whom and in what scenarios. If it turns out that the Vikrant class is only good for training and we really need the 65K ton carrier, then the Navy will not be getting those any time soon, one due to lack of necessary technologies and due to the immense operating cost (A Nimitz class carrier reportedly costs ~$20 million annually), so these will not be cheap by any standards.

  • @ashleypinto6070
    @ashleypinto6070 6 місяців тому

    A 40k-ton carrier is not a threat to any navy. Due to design, size, and payload capacity constraints, these mini-carriers are toothless tigers. Although the IN carriers carry Mig-29s and later Rafale-Ms, these aircraft cannot take off with a comprehensive payload. Even on US carriers, their plane takes off with minimum fuel and conducts buddy-to-buddy refueling after takeoff. Also, the Mig-29s only meet some of the requirements for a carrier-based strike aircraft. The next major disadvantage of the IN aircraft carriers is their need for better AEW. The existing Ka-31 AEW solution is rudimentary, with limited endurance and range. To operate a desirable solution like the E-2 Hawkeye will require a longer runway with assisted takeoff, which can only be implemented on larger aircraft carriers.
    With these two inadequacies, we can conclude that the existing Vikrant class aircraft carriers are more of a liability than a threat and should, in the future, be replaced by larger ones. I understand the current situation did not allow for building larger warships. Still, the IN should work on creating an environment where they are not handicapped by the country's screwups and help the industry meet their expectations.

    2) IAC-3 ka order sal 2024 me diya jata hai yah sal 2032 tak ban jayega
    4 = years design
    7 = years devlopment and manufacturing + high-tech instrument installation
    4 years for testing
    =========================
    Total 15 years lagegenge
    3) but navy ko thoda ambitious hona padega aur jab 65000 tonn class ka aircraft carrier banana hi rahe hai
    To fir kyu na use nuclear powerd air craft carrier banaya jaye aur isaka strict demand navy ko gov ke samane rakahana chahiye .
    4) jab indian navy IAC-3 ko announced kar hi rahi hai tab kyu na usi samy usi time line me
    Nuclear powered reactor ke reserch and devlopment ke liye announcement kar diya jaye usako bhi banane me 15 years lagegenge
    But IAC-3 nuclear power aircraft carrier ho aur bhi accha .....
    5) man lo in case 15 sal me nuclear reactor nahi banata hai to use IAC-4 90,000 class aircraft carrier me used kar lenge but usaka reserch and devlopment work na roka jaye ......
    ( aur in case 15 sal me nuclear reactor nahi banata hai to dusara alternative bhi dhund ke rakha jaye navy dwara taki IAC-3 aur late na ho )
    6) IAC-4 hame lagega hi aur yah jab tak 90,000 class ka na ho tab tak maza nahi aayega
    Hame bhi bhi usa class ke aircraft carrier jaisa class me shamil hona hai in future hamari economy ko dekhate huye ek to aircraft carrier es class ka hum afford kar hi sakate hai .😅😅😅

      2-3 saal uspe bhi lag jayega, waha se 5-7 saal development ka ➡️ 7-10 years translates to 2031-34.
      Parallel me hi 2028-29 tak IAC-3 ka order diya ja sakta hai jo ki best hoga,waha se 12 saal IAC-3 ko banane me lagenge ➡️ 2040 tak hamare paas TEDBF bhi ready hoga mass produce hone ke liye.
      2040s me hum IAC-4 supercarrier ko induct kr sakte hai agar order 2035-38 ke bich me aya toh.

    Along with a puny plus older fleet of big vessels like destroyers and frigates ?

    This indigenous 65000 ton carrier would easily be 15 to 20 years away, if royal navy is willing to sell its one of its 60000+ ton carier prince of wales/queen Elizabeth indian navy should also give a serious consideration for outright purchace if it comes at a reasonable price as it would save lot of time.

    Carriers are needed by expeditionary forces to attack far away foreign countries or to keep the sea lanes open in contested areas.
    India isn't going to invade any country, nor do we have global economic interests to keep the sea lanes open.
    An aircraft carrier also needs several aircrafts, several accompanying destroyers, frigates, corvettes, supply ships, oilers, submarines etc which together constitute an astronomical sum of money to acquire, operate and maintain.
    Indian military needs to ask what role aircraft carrier bound fighters are going to perform that land based fighters cannot do?
    Instead of aircraft carriers, India needs a large fleet of heavy bombers which can carry potent anti ship missiles. India needs to acquire at least 10 B1 or Tu22 type bombers which will cost a fraction of carrier battlegroup but pack far higher punch. 40 such long range heavy bombers will make 8 to 9 Chinese supercarriers extremely vulnerable from South China sea to the Persian Gulf.
    These bombers can also be used to strike the eastern coastal China with conventional weapons which currently is outside the range of our conventional weapons.
    Apart from long range heavy bombers India needs 10 to 20 cruise missiles carrying SSGN/SSBN and another 10 nuclear attack submarines.
    If we go for 3rd aircraft carrier we will have to compromise on nuclear submarines and heavy bombers which are the need of the hour.
    Even Ashley Tellis has said you don't need aircraft carriers to project power from Persian gulf to Malacca straits. And as per him if you have to acquire aircraft carriers then it has to be in the 100,000 tons supercarrier category.
