I think we need at least 3 additional squadrons of Rafale for the airforce apart from the navy order. That will be a total of 80 planes. Not very optimistic of the airforce order. We can even consider ordering additional 5 squadrons of Sukhoi 30MKI. After the upgrade package, it will be a very formidable aircraft.

Big breaking- Indian airforce will buy F69 with unlimited range ,weapons and invisible cloak 12th gen fighter.

One serious question if we give order to Dassault and it produces the aircraft from its indian subsidiary DRAL then whats the use of TOT as their will be no ToT cause the original manufacturer will remain all the technologies to itself ??? Whats the point of the whole exercise then and giving extra bucks for it unless a pure indian consortium produces like HAL lead with dozens of private players producing all the components then only we will be able to our own modifications when we require and also our own weapons integration .

J20 are 3rd Generation AESA radar much bigger and more powerful.

J 20 aesa radar ka detection range 200 km hai and maximum 20 air to air targets lock kar sakta hai...isse jada information internet me available nahi hai.
Other side Rafale ka radar RBE2 AA aesa radar hai jo '#Thales' ( world's one of the best avionics manufacturer. yeh company f35 keliye bhi many components supply karte hai) banaya hai. Iska bhi detection range 200 km hai jo 30 targets ko lock kar sakte hai .

In total we have around 750 aircrafts, So do we really need MRFA if we order near 200 tejas mk2 can't it fill the requirement, till 2035 we will have this mirages, mig 29 and may be jaguars too, so can't we skip this MRFA. By the time of MRFA contract signing and its aircraft delivery we will have tejas mk2 ready for production, then why we are going for foreign aircraft. In su30 we did indeginesation bcoz it was assembled by HAL but in rafale case its totally different, we have to bare its cost for 40-50 yrs like all those costly upgrades and all by Dassault, shouldn't we wait for some more time and fast track tejas mk2 tests and its order. $25 billion is not a small amount right?

Why should we be obsessed with an 4.5 generation rafale aircraft we should be exploring 5th generation options already mrfa in its various iteration is more that 20 years old.

Cost. Not only to buy, but also to fly and maintain. with all 5th gen fighters, we will run out of money and resources within a week of a war. Then all our great "5th gen fighters" will be in their hangers.

5th gen jets have high maintenance & high operating cost not good for wars unless you have 300 to 800 billion dollar worth of budget for defence.
