This was part of my childhood trauma, and the video scared the hell out of me as a kid, not neccesarily the music. Something about the odd animation, or how it's animated, or the giant snails freaked me out as a kid. Even today the video is unnerving to watch.
I remember the first time my dad showed my tool when I was like 12 and he showed me the schism video and it creeped me out. Then he put this video on and everything changed. I was still somewhat disturbed by the video but I couldn’t help but love the music. Now I’m 20 and tool is one of my favorite bands. I love this song and this video.
Im 24 when I was a kid I was watching mtv on vh1 pretty early in the am and they played the video for sober but as disturbing as it was I still couldnt help but love their music
out of all of the beautiful songs, music videos and bands my dad showed me as a young kid, this was the most memorable and probably my favourite. the nostalgia i feel when watching this music video is immense. my dad was a real desert metalhead, put me on to bands like kyuss, tool, corrosion of conformity. so thankful to have this stamp of influence laid upon me. it's only now as a young adult that i understand the meanings of these songs... getting high, livin life, enduring grief... the heaviness of it all is relieved in an instant by awesome music. love you all
I like that even though the video was not made to suit the music it somehow just works. I doubt Manyward ever visualized this song being associated with farming and giant snails but I dig the imagery of it.
They said we will own nothing and be happy. So why are they so obsessed with copyright laws? Everyone should have access to all digital media. Nothing makes sense in this madhouse.
So glad this video has been preserved on the internet. There was a big stretch of time where you had to go to other sites to find this. This vid will always be part of Tool history
I can't believe this is back. Try to keep it that way. Les Escargots perfectly matches the music. Make sure you get permission from Tool or whatever it takes to keep it up. ❤❤❤

Had a heavy dxm trip to this years ago. I kept redosing till I drank like 2.5 bottles of delsym. Got stuck in a loop where I was listening to the pot, sober, and opiate back to back for hours. I must have watched this video 10 times that night if not more. When I peaked I felt this weird feeling in my stomach. I puked once, fell to the floor and had some kind of out of body experience where I was convinced tool was the meaning of life. Hurt my soul when they took this video down

Thank you @Tool for allowing this to come back. We love you infinitely but this was our outlet for so long it has become almost as iconic as the song.

If you find it even mildly intriguing you should check out Gandahar: Light Years as well as The Masters of Time. They were both done by the same guy.
Also la planete sauvage! Incredible film
