Everyone is a Tool fan, some people just don't know it.... yet.
Ain't that the truth brother.
Statement of biblical proportions brother
Tool suck.
Yes
There is so much truth to that statement
The unfettered stank face of people listening to Tool for the first time never fails to make me smile.
Wait till they hear stinkfist.
@@turtleofpride4572 Stankface for the Stinkfist
That was me the first time I heard the song Opiate. I will never forget it.
@@ryanburkhalter3192 that what call a revelation. Those were the days…. Opiate never gets old… great to see new fans being born….
I agree, those teeth knashing!
Rule one: never pause a Tool Song
Rule #2- see rule #1
I died a little when he paused it the first time
"Im a Tool fan now." 😂 Perfectly sums up that first listen.
100% how it starts.
For Real!!
So true i said this exact thing in 6th grade whenmy buddy zach showed me ths song was a crazy year we had too
That's it! 😅 👏👏
(David Attenborough's voice) This, is a very special moment : we are witnessing the birth of Tool fans in the wild.
Nature is amazing.
Perfect comment 😂👍🏻
In the wild! 😂
Lmao! Amazing comment!
I just spit water all over my keyboard; I hope you're happy. XD
Those guys are so lucky to get to hear Tool for the first time.
And we get to vicariously relive our first time.
Pun intended.
Wish I can hear tool for the first time again
But damn did this video bring me back to that time.
Yeah man they are so lucky! Born knowing all of Tool Discography
@@yellowface1215 they are gonna trip on that box. I hate that I got it in vhs instead of dvd.
Tool is the reason I became a bassist about 10 years ago. They changed my life and my perspective on music. No other band like ‘em
Same here brother I remember I was 13 as a kid listening to 46&2 in my dad's trans am convertible and being absolutely mesmerized by the bass line and picked up my first 2 basses shortly after. Soon realized he's been playing tool videos since I was a baby and was always captivated by them and I was also born the day salival was released so to say tool is a big part of my life is an understatement lmao
💯
The final “liar, lawyer” has always been my favorite part of any TOOL song. You think it’s ending but nope. There’s so much more.
Such a tease with thinking its ending then it somehow goes harder.
I love it too and IJust saw him sing it live 2 days ago.
Mine is " *f hypocrite"
"The Pot" is such a great introductory song to TOOL. Because as soon as you catch a whiff of what's brewing, you're addicted.
I agree. Aenima was my gateway song, but I was hating a bunch of things about society while studying epistemology. This song is better for introducing the masses. With my mom, I had to play pneuma and parabola because they don't have bad words and the lyrics are deceptively pseudo-Christian.
This is exactly what happened to me.
I see what you did there.
Lol. The first one I heard, the one that introduced me to Tool was Sober.
Tool fans....the epitome of Michael Malice's "midwits."
People literally staved off suicide just to make it to “Fear Inoculum”

@@incutool third eye reference. I see you.
Its almost impossible to not respect this kind of uniqueness and talent.
I've been a fan since 1995. Seen them 25 times live.
98 for me, I was 12.
Gonna see them for my first time at Louder Than Life this year and I’m fuckin hyped
Back in the day when bots didn't buy every ticket before you could check out.
i have been a fan since 1993 although I kind of rediscovered how much i liked them in early 2019 and I have listened to them every day since then.
I respectfully hate you so much. I saw tool 3 times but never when Maynard's performance was good.
I watch tool archives all the time.
This literally made me tear up to see random people feeling how ive felt for 30 years for the first time. That was amazing.
Yes yes so much yes!!!!

I felt the exact same way! They are my fav band since 2001… 🖤
TOOLS art transcends race, age, gender. It’s soul food. Literally. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
I feel you 🤘🏻 very enjoyable to see people's mind being blown 😁
Literally.
I'm 38. Grew up listening to Tool back in the 90s when you couldn't be from the hood and blast Tool. I fuckin love seeing this generation of black people embracing the magic that is the genius of Maynard.
Bruh... I live in Poland so we don't really know anything about the reality of black people in the hood and you just blew my fucking mind.
They suck.
@@pauljarvis446 why are you here?
I'm a little older but, same.
@@danielsjodin504 because it was in my feed, that's why.
In my country tool means douche bag, they're a douche bag band.
I love when people find out about Tool. I saw them again live last year and I still get that “stank” face when I hear Danny on the drums.
I get chills listening to TOOL !! Been getting chills since the 90’s!! Tool is one of the greatest groups on the planet!!
If there is life outside this planet, Tool is better than their best bands, too
Justin deserves so much more credit than he gets. Sick bass lines, song after song.
The bass is maybe more important than the guitar
He gets more than the rest of the band
He gets tons of credit are you kidding me 😒
@@rring44 yeah no definitely not, everyone in this band is just as important as each other
Takes a good guitar player to allow the bass player to play like this. They’re not fighting each other, they’re working together to make music. A lot of bands don’t understand this dynamic.
This almost made me cry. Watching people experience this for the first time is a drug.
Same! Literally had goosebumps the entire time watching this. Need more of these
Yes!!!! 🎶😁
I'm trying to understand why it makes my eyes water up... Praise be onto him who spreads the word of Tool. May all your bubbles burst. And don't forget to learn to swim.
Yep, awesome to witness. Almost 30 years ago, Undertow changed my musical life.
My hair was standing on end all the way through! Pure musical joy!!!
I figured out why this particular TOOL reaction comp is so great: Each individual is expressing pure joy, appreciation, and utter surprise by their own emotional movement by something so seemingly "sinister" on the surface. Then us, as the viewer of all, can see how this masterpiece by Tool COLLECTIVELY affects all of them and all of us the same.
All different walks of life, all different pasts and different futures, but right here in the "present" we're all just vibing as one. Words not even needed. Stank face is enough.
Kinda makes you think - fill a room with Red, Blue, pro-this, anti-that, arch fkn enemies, and you got total chaos and negativity. But the moment you pump some MJ "Billie Jean" or some OutKast "Hey Ya!" or straight up gnarly TOOL into the room, ain't one person who's not gonna be rockin their head to the music, vibing. Straight erasing in that moment WTF we were there to argue about in the first place.
Go a step deeper, and ask yourself, "why we all so distracted by anger and fear and hatred for one another?! Who has something to gain from keeping us at each other's throats?"
And you'll arrive at the answer.
Hint: "How The 1% Maintain the Status Quo 101"
🪄🏛️⚖️💵💰
Absolutely and well said.
Who are you?
Yes.
its so heartening to see people experiencing truly happy moments
Danny Carey will forever go down as one of the most progressive and technical drummers of all time. This mans internal metronome and body beat literally created a style of rhythm that is near impossible to replicate.
there's stories about Danny reacting to Thomas Haake from Meshuggah, apparently, he's who blows Danny's mind... lmao
I can do The Pot, and several others. But some of Danny’s stuff is extremely advanced. I can understand how he does it, but I can’t do it. He is a treasure for sure.
Amen
@@PerceptionsofFate I went to a meshugga show in Hollywood 10 years ago at the house of blues. Guess who was their? Danny Carey. I had him sign my ticket with a purple pen. I heard he only signs shit in purple pen because of the lakers. I was so happy when he signed it. I later framed that ticket. When my long term ex and I broke up she threw it out. I’ll never forget that night or the fact that a lot of peoples favorite drummers drummer is Thomas. That dude is not human. What he does with his feet and hands is almost impossible to do.
Check out Chris Turner. Metric modulation at it's finest. He is objectively the best drummer to do it.
The only bad thing of being a tool fan is you can only experience this feeling once. After that you just spiral out.
That's exactly why reaction videos have taken off like they have. That being said, yeah, your first time hearing Tool is special.
underrated and misunderstood

That's why I mainline these videos straight into my bloodstream!
Its called an addiction
Literally sure, BUT, I just relived it thru the eyes of the newly born. Like thee first time. Like someone already wrote, I teared up
That period of tool was pure art bliss. It’s pretty incredible how the band feels like there was no ego - and one goal. The instruments do exactly what’s needed in order to make the song. Incredible steady timings and tightness. Near perfect.
The most magical moment of this is at 6:24.. You can tell this guy isn’t phased too easily and he rarely expresses emotion and he even admitted in past videos that he doesn’t venture outside of hip-hop much… but at 6:24 is the moment when the lightbulb goes off and you can tell as much as he wants to stay stoic he just can’t help but express the feeling of “boooom… this is some next level shit”.
tool does that to all skeptics, insanely talented
I didn’t even have to rewind to instantly know who you were referring to. We all got to watch him succumb ❤😊
Usually in bands the singer is the one who shines the most but Tool every member is a shinning piece these guys are so talented
They layer so much incredible artistry together. Tool is amazing
Look up rush
So true.
Yeah the singer usually isn’t even front stage at concerts. Ego death
Hear me out. Tool are the modern day Led Zeppelin
If Justin’s baselines don’t get you, or adams insane guitar work, or Danny’s out of this world percussion, Maynard WILL snag you with his vocal truthism. They are all just the best.

Or they all snag you and become a Tool addict

The number one thing I'm noticing about all these people is how happy they look.
TOOL is life.🤘
It's the ridiculously high frequency ....feel it you will
My favorite part about Tool and this video, is when they’re feeling it then they hit the inevitable Tool bridge and realize they’re about to go on a real fuckin musical adventure. No other band does what they do, why’ve I’ve been listening to them for 25 years.
You gotta try The Ocean, their last 3 albums are out of this world, man.
Pink Floyd does that too. I'm not taking from Tool(been a fan since '93), but you said no other band..
@@pyregazer9210 Pink Floyd is a major influence on them too
This song is the gateway drug to becoming an unabashed Tool addict. I love all of these folks.
I was in middle school when Undertow came out and then Aenima made me a true believer.
I’m so late to the game on these videos. Almost teared up because of how wholesome it was. My boyfriend introduced me to Tool (heard the pot and loved it but dove deep into other songs like 46&2 and WHEW, I wasn’t ready). Took me to my first show. (His 4th). And I cried and felt like I was literally at a damn church. It is the most moving, eye opening experience I’ve ever had. Everybody’s a Tool fan eventually. They’re otherworldly in the best way.

I can testify because I watched it all with them. Your reactions and discussions were top tier as well so shout out to Hollywood and Smokey. Btw Hollywood is a huge fan of the artist behind Tool, Arnold Black, or as the rest of us know him as Alex Grey. If you know, you know.
What’s better than "The Pot"?
Watching people’s faces when they hear it for the 1st time.
I drove an hour to the mall to buy this album the day it came out. I remember hearing this for the first time in my truck that had a very nice system in it. It didn't sound like Maynard or a lot of their old music, but man it was awesome. I remember going to work the next day and my boss seeing the CD case laying in my seat, and he was like, "OHHH YOU HAVE TO LET ME BORROW THAT FOR TONIGHT"
and he came into work singing this song. I remember him saying, "Maynard is so fucking smooooooth"
Man. I needed this. Just put the first real smile on my face in days. This was so fun. Thank you, Brooks.
I hope they’re also reading the lyrics. Tool isn’t just a band…they’re an experience. A masterpiece.
A masterclass
I have ALWAYS said that. Tool's music is an experience, especially through headphones. You can pick up all the little nuances! Tool fan since '92 at the bomb factory in Dallas!

Every song makes me want to dive deeper into their lyrics, especially 10,00 Days!! Vicarious, Forty-Six and 2. They’re lyrical geniuses

It makes me so happy to see so many people from all over the place loving on tool ❤️ They have air tight filming restrictions at live shows but I promise you they put on a breathe taking show.
I've listened to this song since 2006, and I *still* react to it just like these folks. Amazing song, great performances by the whole band, but The Pot for me really highlights that blistering rhythm section.
Tool's the pot is like a gateway drug for non tool fans, there's no denying how good it is, and I'd say it's a good precursor to their other music, if you like the pot, you'll like a lot of their music, but the pot is a really good place to start for new people
I’ve Always said the pot is their best song to start with. I think Lateralus is a good one too

The "Liar/Lawyer" refrain into the last verse will never fail to give me huge goosebumps
Me too
Liar, lawyer, after 20+ years no-one can find the difference
Dude fucking I know right?!

Bro we're like the same person right now!
I had never listened to a single Tool song until I was literally standing at one of their concerts in-person that I was 'dragged' to by my dad and it was a life changing experience that bordered on religious. Sitting right next to Maynard's side of the stage with a good view of Danny as well was just insane. Every song I saw live was my first time hearing it and this was less than a year ago as of this comment on the delayed Fear Innoculum tour (Covid delays). I'd rate the show an 11 out of 10.

I remember hearing that song on the radio while driving somewhere with my Dad. He had lost faith in music of my generation until he heard that. We went to "The Warehouse" (if you are old enough to know, you know) and bought both albums they had out at the time. Tool literally helped me and my Father bond when I was a young man and wanted nothing to do with any kind of authority. It made me realize we were on the same shit.
The Warehouse! “Listen before you buy” was the best. So many hours and first-job-money spent there

Never heard of the warehouse but just music stores in general were so cool and then they started doing the listen before you buy thing too. There are some bands or albums that I just missed out on back then because I never saw or or couldn't find an album. Even when stuff like Napster came around, it was like, good luck finding that one obscure band or rare album you just heard of.
Yep. Sacramento, 1980’s and 90’s. We’d go there if Tower Records was out of stock.

I love how literally everyone is just being overwhelmed by the _sheer raw furious emotion_ of this song, that emotion that puts this song _high, HIGH_ on my list of faves. (Yes, pun intended, you may shoot me.)
Maynard will tell you that he’s not a lead singer and doesn’t like to be referred as such because he says he’s just the vocalist and likes to showcase the entire band at concerts while he’s in the background!
Yup, he rarely faces the crowd at all.
I noticed that when I saw them live. Was really interesting to see visually. He literally gave them the stage.
He also doesn't sit up front in album covers
I've seen that. Would prefer Maynard ripping faces
Well and that's not how they write. He doesn't lead the writing. They make the songs and then he writes. Not that makes him any less important
Seeing them live is an experience unlike no other.
Great job 👏 man. Cheers 🍻

Perfectly captured the feeling of a whole bunch of people becoming Tool fans, and had me high on nostalgia thinking back to when I bought my first Tool album, Lateralus, the day it came out, and my feeling of just pure joy and awe that a band could be so good. Tool is one of those bands that just captivates you. Absolutely legendary band, and fantastic video, well done.
You need to listen too Anema buy Tool, their best album buy far
Opiate also
well said these guys didn't know what hit them lmao!!!
What's your favourite band now? [Actually just curious; always looking for band recommendations]
Same here, I will never forget my first tile hearing Schizm, I played it on repeat the whole night and I became a fan instantly.
I remember being the weird kid in high school for being a Tool fan. People generally didn’t get them and were put off by their music videos and they were very underground back then.
It’s so cool to see something I grew up loving becoming something mainstream like it truly deserves to be. So awesome to see newer generations and older ones coming together and experiencing what I used to while riding on the school bus with my Sony Walkman blasting into my ears.
Same. I was considered the Tool nerd. People thought I was weird for liking them so much. But when Lateralus was released a lot of those same people started to listen to them and liking them. Now I am so glad to see so many people enjoying the experience that is Tool!
It was the same for Rush fans back in the 70’s/80’s
Discovered them as a kid music still blows my mind & im 31
I was in high school when Undertow came out in 93, sixteen years old and I still remember hearing Sober for the first time when we were just riding around in my friend's car. Good times! 🤘🏻
Yeah it's weird it's like they're the biggest cult band in the world
Best video I’ve seen all year.
amazing vic. ty
"His voice is SO SPECIAL"... brings tears to my eyes thinking all these people are now Tool fans!! Fucking awesome 👌 . Seriously. This is the best yt video I've seen in a while.
I remember as a kid hearing his voice and the drums first band to give me chills
Same
Yep 🤘
I remember exactly when and where I heard TOOL for the first time. This video was like going back to that exact moment and I love it so much!
Hahaha, I also experienced a swell of emotion. And a tear or two. 🥲
Tools "The Pot" isn't a song boys and girls, IT'S A RIDE!!
Its also one of the least complex tool song in the last 20 years
Its one of their most simple songs. Its good to introduce new people to the band though
@@clrl936 this! I love that these people tried to dance to it.
I was smiling the entire time I was watching this video, especially at the stank face and vibing moments. Thank you so much for sharing all of their reactions.
I remember the first time I ever heard a song by Tool... I was 16, in my best friend's car, the local rock radio station was on a 90's kick.
The first notes of Schism came on and it immediately grabbed my ear.
By the time the singing started, they were in my mind and soul.
I was wide eyed and silent... just... floored by the journey that is falling in love with a song at first listen.
They've been at the top of my list ever since.
This was awesome to see, thanks again!
Yea, this was probably a high quality "best of" collection.
It was very enjoyable to watch all these genuine and appreciative reactions!
Mirror neurons...it's what makes us able to "feel" what others feel. It's what makes a guy squint a little when he watches some dude on youtube skateboarding and essentially doing the nutcracker on some rail or whatever.
It's like hearing the song for the first time, but through someone else. Vicariously... lol

Happy tears seeing so many people enjoy Tool. Welcome to the rabbit hole. Stay awhile and enjoy the ride!
Stay Awhile and Ride the Spiral.
